Apparently Nebraska Wesleyan University is adding on a Classic Rock requirement to get a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Here is what got my attention, apparently to make the transition easier, they are hiring three new faculty members...

"Dhani Harrison, son of former Beatle and solo artist George Harrison, has already signed a contract. NWU is also in negotiations with Stevie Nicks, a solo artist and member of Fleetwood Mac. The third faculty member remains a mystery, but rumor has it Simon Cowell has an opinion on the matter."

Of course, she hasn't signed any contract, and it isn't clear as to whether or not she'd be actually teaching courses or consulting with them and giving them info on the music industry so they can better organize their courses. Probably the latter, since I don't really see Stevie teaching any type of class. However, if she is going to have any student interaction, where do I enroll????

I think i've finally made a choice :D

This was my textbook... one of the few I kept from college! :D

http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Roll-History-Stylistic-Development/dp/0136010687/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270588515&sr=1-1

Naturally entire chapters in the book were dedicated to the Beatles, Stones, Madonna, etc.

The class actually satisfied an elective requirement... so I had fun with it, AND it served an actual purpose! One of our requirements was to go see a rock show every quarter... and it coincided with the Say You Will tour. I had to staple my ticket stub to my writeup on the concert... wish I coulda kept it!

My professor was such a super cool guy too. He was one of the 3 trumpet players for JFK's funeral, he's part of the Charlotte Symphony... so he's played behind every major rock band that's come to town requesting a symphony. He had a real distaste for Linda Rondstat... he said she was EVIL!

It was really cool! We spent the overwhelming majority of the class just listening to music, and debating about the progression of pop/rock. It actually wasn't an easy course (I got a B)... we had to write papers, take detailed exams, etc. But it was FUN!!! :]

I am taking a Rock and Roll History course this semester and my book has a little bit about Fleetwood Mac but all of it it pre- Stevie and Lindsey. It has one sentence that mentions them that says something like "Fleetwood Mac later moved to California, where they were joined by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. In that form and after Buckingham's departure they had great success playing country-rock-influenced pop music." Yet they spend a good paragraph talking about Flavor Flav. I must say, I am rather let down. This is my book:

Oh no!!! Say it ain't so! I love Linda! She's on my list of top female voclaists ever. She can sing the s**t out of anything!

Why was she so evil? See, it's like picking a scab, I need to know (I need to know)!

This was about 1990... he said it's when she'd gained all that weight, and something about it made her super bitchy and demanding . Nothing was good enough, nobody was good enough, etc. He actually seemed to think the instrument out of tune was her own voice, though. ;)

I just flipped through my old textbook... they actually dedicated a whole page to Fleetwood Mac. One paragraph to the Rumours era though, and Stevie was mentioned by name only once. My textbook also had a big boner for Pre '75 Mac.

I did wonder if this was what you meant. I daresay she may have been demanding. Everyone can be at times. I'm sure Stevie's no angel all the time - haha! Linda out of tune though? I find that hard to believe! Who knows...
