bein a guy that thinks stevie from the 80's is freakin hot, and idolizes the 80's stevie, its kinda sad to see her gettin older.
But you know what they say about time making you bolder I guess...

Well the article says this pic is from 2009, and we just saw some candids, so i'd say she looks better now than when this photo was taken, but i love the outfit sooooo much!Good to see her in something other than black:nod:

Yeah, you might not want to wear rings on every finger -- or bells on your reeboked toes either, for that matter.

Jesus, this is an awful picture. I love her to death, but I must say her hands and face do look rather old in this pic. Granted, she doesn't have much make-up on and if she does have arthritis it may have been acting up. She looked soo much better just 9 months before this tho. Her hands and her face looked 15 years younger! It must be all that LB stress!

oh dear
those hands are terrible
but this is obviously NOT her normal hand state
coz if this was taken last year
her hands were looking PRET-TAY good
like in the book signing pic
and on tour ....
maybe it was a reeeeally hot day
and mixed with her meds (if she's on ANY) ......
i really really love what she's wearing *heart*
and she doesn't look too bad

People with comments about her hands are just ridiculous.
It's just my opinion, but the repetitiousness of the hand comments seem a little bit in bad taste.

For her age, she is looking good. I love the red top and it looks like she has lost some weight or just looks thinner without all of the layered clothes she wears on stage. Hope to look that good in 10 years!!!

It's just hard for me to accept that she is aging. Maybe for a while I was being delusional to think that she won't change, and oh she will be ageless, timeless in my finery...
Maybe I should just stop watching the White Winged Dove performance so much.
Well anyway, this photo has disillusioned me. :(

as for her hands, i agree with michelej-wtf was she thinking, wearing all of those rings? maybe she ate too much sodium the night before, slept with her rings on and now can't get them off
love the red, love the crescent moon. i guess it just strikes me as odd that mama nicks has been seen so much, without make up, lately. i'm not saying "I" care, just that stevie has always been so concerned about the way she looks (never going back on stage until she lost all the weight, etc), so it surprises me.
it also depresses me that she's getting older. i dread "the day"....
on edit: is that a scrunchie?

I was thinking back to the last concerts I saw on the last tour. We never really saw her hands. She usually has on black gloves. This is probably why, and why it is such a surprise to some. Of course, I think she looks great. I hope to look that well when I'm her age. I have to remind myself she is in her 60s now.

I wonder what's with the things on her arms. They don't look supportive enough to be functional as braces, and even if they were, they aren't atatched to anything to give traction. I wonder if she has a port for IV treatments for her RA, and she doesn't want anyone to see it. Else, maybe she got a bunch of tattoos and doesn't want anyone to see it. Else, maybe varicose veins.
What else could it be..

Totally agreed! I made a similar comment when the last recent photo was posted. She's aging and there's nothing any of us can do about it other than accept it. And let's face it, we're all getting older. It's a part of life. I think the issues for me are a) sometimes I forget the fact that she is a real person (that eats, sleeps, and ****s) instead of this timeless fairytale persona I've created in my mind and b) I have my own issues with looks and getting older as I was raised in an environment where aging gracefully is not exactly embraced.
On a final note I almost feel bad that us, her most dedicated fans, are critiquing her looks and not always from a positive point of view. Doesn't she get enough of this from the media? I know it's true that she's looking older (as anyone would at 62) and it's fun to note the changes but I just can't deal with "she's looking old and her hands look freaky" type comments. Maybe I'm just in denial...

Yes, I know what you are saying about having issues with getting older. It's one of my biggest fears for some reason, and I'm still quite young. I think she is partly to blame for the creation of the fairytale persona though haha, what with all this talk of gypsies and castles. I think a good majority of us are in denial, however some may be in denial that they are in denial

One more thing - that look in her eyes will never change, nor will her soul. She'll always be my enchanted angel even if she has wrinkles like a prune and she's using a walker. What I see is Stevie's pure essence to the core and it's magical. What's outside is secondary. I guess that means I love her or something ;).

I don't think people are giving her grief as much as they are a bit startled by the stark difference between her on/off-stage looks. Of course we all expect and want her to look exactly the same- whether she is singing "Rhiannon" on stage or stopping for allergy pills at Wahlgreens. Nobody is saying Stevie is less of a person for it; if anything, people get concerned for her if there is any sign that she is not well or becoming frail.
That being said... either the hat OR the mock sleeves. But not BOTH. That getup is a bit too biker chick for Mama; it's definitely something one of Jesse James' ho-bags would wear. But I am liking the red top with the asymmetrically dropped waist. It's stylish and flattering without being costume-y.

As much as I like to rib her, I totally dig the entire getup. You don't see many 60 something women being that daring and having that much fun with clothing... so kudos to Stevie!!

This is was bugs the hell out of me is that I cannot figure out what she is covering up! She has got to be covering something up, and its not a brace like you said. As for an IV port for RA, usually IV drugs used to treat RA are only delivered thru an IV for a few hours every eight weeks or so after the first few initial weeks, so I don't think she'd have an IV port there seeing as she has been covering them up for months now, yet there would be no need for a port if you aren't getting IV drugs for another 8 weeks, nor would she have to cover up the bruises. Also, if she did have an IV port, usually ones for long term use are in the torso I believe. Varicose veins could be it. Maybe she had surgery on one or both of her arms? Or maybe she has diabetes and she doesn't like pricking her fingers so she does her forearms and wants to cover up all the nasty blue and red prickmarks! I know the last one is a long shot, but I am a diabetic and my forearms can get way gross looking if I prick them too much. Maybe she secretly cuts herself. Or her dogs scratch the **** out of her arms! Or Karen is secretly a dominatrix and Stevie only lets her bite her arms. All in all tho, I'm going with tattoos.

Maybe she's trying to catch Jesse's eyes, which also means the people who guessed the arm bands are covering up tattoos are most definitely correct.

First of all I doubt Stevie shops for allergy pills at Walgreens, but Id love it if she did. And I think she looks great in the picture for it being a candid shot. Everything but those hands, its very sad to see those hands look so frail.
I think it's cool to see her out and about and for the paps to care enough to photograph her. The last thing I thought about was her hands or how old she looked. She isn't young, but clearly she doesn't look beat and that outfit is adorable so really there are enough plusses here to make the most of this...I think new Stevie candids are great. At least you get to see her in the now...Lindsey pretty much disappears (and he wouldn't be papped anyway) so you never really see him unless something is out.
I love her in red.

I have to comment on this thread.
Saw the photo....and.....it's just a random shot, guys. Now that I've "analyzed" her hand, I don't think her hand really looks that bad, I think that is something going on with her movement and the photo being taken. You know how stuff looks weird or blurred when an object is moving? I think thats what happened in this instance.
I think she's beautiful. And fyi--she doesn't have a hump.

I don't believe those things on her arms are braces. I don't know what they are, but she could be using them to cover up bruises she may have due to medication she may be on. My Mom wore socks (with the feet part cut off) on her arms for that reason.

She was a pretty young woman who became an elegant & charming old woman. She gives to charities, & behaves with such class (what they used to call breeding), retenue, & poise.
She cuts a nice figure, & leaves the impression of kindness & inner beauty on those who meet her.
Jim Ladd always said what a nice woman she was, & how different that was from the typical rock stars & industry bigwigs.
I wish Johnny Stew would post here again.

Let me just say that that fact alone makes me love her and her music. When I first read about the ipods she gives to the troops, it made me rethink everything else. I've always seen a type of glow about her since then.

MicheleNow you guys are driving me nuts here. It means "restrained in bearing." I borrow the term from James Agate's theater criticism of the 1930s. When I see a cashier who isn't getting flustered by loony patrons, I say to her, "I admire your retenue. It reminds me of Geraldine McEwan in Mapp & Lucia."
The remark always leads to a quaint exchange of pleasantries.

It's inflammation - it's quite common. And, there could be a variety of causes or reasons for it. It seems to me that the most logical reason is arthritis; again not uncommon and not uncommon to act up at her age. Normal. I'm sure she deals with it with grace and has uses the best treatments available. She's a classy, beautiful, 61 year old rock star regardless...

Anyway I had to show my mom this picuture to get her opinon and keep in mind a) she's the same age as Stevie b) she has an un-biased opinion unliker her daugher. Here's what she said:

SYou can always tell a woman's age by her hands.
OUCH!
The night Stevie's Soundstage aired on PBS coincided with me having some friends over at the house. As soon as Stand Back came on, and Stevie walked out and started singing my friend Scott said: "Oh, this must be one of her classic concerts! What year is this from?" I told him it was filmed just 7 months ago. Scott looked all confused... and said "but she doesn't look a day over 35... what year is this really from? How old is she here?" and I replied "60." He just looked at me asounded and said "SIXTY!?!? She's SIXTY there??? You're pulling my leg!" He was totally unconvinced. So the concert went on, and he studied Stevie very closely, paying rapt attention. Towards the end, he finally said "You're right... she's 60." And I asked what made him change his mind... he said "her hands. Just look at her hands. You can always tell a woman's true age by her hands. Plus, her motions and dances are rather stiff. She doesn't move around like she used to."

Well the people, they love her, but still they're the most cruel.
2. You can always tell a woman's age by her hands.
That's true, but with some exception. I'm 14 years younger than Stevie Nicks and there are times when my hands look quite old. But slap on some neutrogena hand cream and my hands look twenty years younger. Of course, in your sixties your hands aren't going to look young again. But dry hands and a bit of bloat can go a long way toward explaining the difference in the photos in this thread. Lighting can also make wrinkles in a photo seem more prominent.
...and she also made her assistant take her tranquilizers which she thought were killing her. Gotta have the yin with the yang I suppose! :woohoo:
Why assume that she MADE him take the tranqs. We are, after all, talking about a microcosm of people that have consumed an awful lot of drugs in their day. Popping a pill to see what effect it might have probably wouldn't seem like that big a deal to them. I'm a seventies child that never did drugs, but I knew many, many people who did. And I'm pretty sure I know a few who would have thought nothing of popping a klonopin back in the day just to see what would happen.
Also, even though this probably happened some time in the early nineties, it was still well before the internet gave us access to information about virtually any drug. I worked in the health field at the time, and all I could get my hands on was a year old PDR (Physician's Desk Reference.) I actually looked up klonopin in that old PDR when I first heard Stevie Nicks was on it (I worked for a doctor that she went to a couple of times) and it wasn't even in the book yet. The doctor I worked for didn't even really know anything about it. So perhaps Stevie Nicks and her assistant (whom I'm pretty sure she is still friends with) felt that the only way they could gather more information about the drug was by having someone else take it. And he was idiotic enough to volunteer. (He did take only a small dose, didn't he?)

'I said, it won't kill you, because it hasn't killed me, but I just want to see what you think. Because Glenn was terribly worried about me - everybody was. So I was taking two in the morning, two in the afternoon and two more at night. At that point if I could find a Percoset, because I'm so miserable, I'd take that, or I'd take a Fiorocet - anything.
'So Glenn proceeds to take all my medicine. He was setting up a stereo in the living-room. Well, after half an hour he was just sitting there. And he said, "I can't fix the stereo and I don't think I can drive home." And I said, "Well, good - just stay there, because I'm studying you." And he was almost hallucinating. It was bad. And I called up my psychiatrist, and I said, "I gave Glenn every-thing you've prescribed for me." And the first words out of his mouth were, "Are you trying to kill him?" And the next words out of my mouth were, "Are you trying to kill me?" '
I do get your point that she wasn't like TAKE THIS ****ING KLONOPIN OR I AM FIRING YOU! But I don't think he was like "Oh hey, i can has Klonopin?" I think Stevie wanted him to take it and there was some persuasion on her part.

I will admit that's it's not the best photo of her but I bet if another pic was taken right afterwards with Stevie looking up or at a different angle, she would look much better. Happens to all celebs, they get caught at bad moments. I do like the pic quite a bit. I like what Stevie is wearing. Very sexy and a bit revealing. Anyone else notice she's not wearing a bra? I wonder if she was going on a date? Personally, I think Stevie is pretty brave to go out with so little make up on. That tells you she is comfortable with who she is and how she looks.

Btw yours is one of the best posts in this thread.Thank you for the nice compliment. As far as the bra thing, to be honest, Stevie does have some pretty big nipples and they really show up in certain dresses. Remember that dress she wore at the horse race a couple of years back. It seems to me that in the last few years, Stevie was been wearing more revealing types of clothes that show off a bit more of the goods.......and for that, I am very thankful. They were pretty firm even then. NO flopping or movement of any kind! I was certain they were plastic!Yes, no "Street Angel" flopping allowed these days. To be honest, the edgewalk is one of the main reasons I'll pay the money for front or second row. If only I'd had a pair of those secret spy eye glass cameras on. I'd have pics showing cleavage heaven. Stevie has got to know she's showing off. Funnest thing I ever heard at a concert was after she passed by me I heard some guy right behind me say in a loud clear voice, " Those are some nice tits!!!!"

I love how this thread is now bringing the quiet ones out of their shells! Nothing like a good nip shot to do it.

REALLY? I remember it being one of the first things I noticed when they first came out in 2005...:o
I'm seriously not kidding...I've seen all those pictures a thousand times and have been oblivious the whole time. Even that Tusk picture where its totally obvious, I never realized that you could see through the dress until someone pointed it out to me. I guess that kind of stuff just goes completely over my head
