So anyway, last night we were casually watching the tv. Mum flicked through the channels, and spotted Destiny Rules!!!
So we watched, like five minutes of it - until Dad told me to turn it off
While we were watching, Mum - who is a casual listener asked if Stevie had plastic surgery. I explained about her ill-fated 'increase' mishap and the botox down-under - but she still did not believe me!
Maybe I should just listen to what my sister said, "Witches will be always ugly!"

What is her ill-fated "increase" mishap? All I know about is her Botox experience and how she hated it! Have I missed something?

There's no doubt in my mind she's at least had an eye lift. Watch Stevie's and Lindsey's Soundstages back to back... the corners of her eyes are all droopy in Lindsey's Soundstage... and a year later for her Soundstage she has the eyes of a 25 year old again! I don't think she's had a full on facelift, but I'm guessing she's had a few little things (such as eye lifts) done here and there.
My "Mother in Law" had an eye lift last year, and actually got it covered on insurance as a necessary medical procedure, because her saggy upper lids inhibited her field of vision. I could see Stevie justifying an eye lift under the same banner (I could twirl myself off stage and DIE without an eyelift!).

I totally remember that.
I always thought, why not? It is something she buys specifically for her job, performing. Her stage costumes are just that, and she doesn't wear them in her normal life.

That's funny. I went to the dermatologist to have some moles removed. Some were getting in the way of my clothes, but some were not. As he got to each one, he kept saying to me, "does this bother you?" It took me awhile to catch on that if it was bothering me it would be covered by insurance, but if I said "No, that doesn't cause me any trouble at all," then it would be purely cosmetic.
I was just thinking about surgery due to the picture of Christine that Peter posted from Express.co.uk. If she aged that much from 2004-2010, then it's clear to me that she not only had surgery prior to the Dance, as we have all discussed, but she must have had a touch up just before Meantime came out as well, because she would have aged a bit from 1997-2004 too.

but i doubt she's had a full on face remodel

She certainly does look dramatically older in that picture... but the woman is getting close to 70. That clearly looks like a candid/paparazzi type picture of her walking her dog, perhaps early in the morning. God knows I look rough as hell when I walk my little muchkin in the morning! Plus all the pictures/video of Christine we've seen the past 13 odd years have all been of a promotional nature: she's all done up, likely professionally. There's an even more shocking picture of Stevie that's been floating around for a year or two with her walking through a door holding a glass of iced tea. She looks quite different out of her stage/promo makeup, too. I'm not saying Chris hasn't had any work done (I agree, she definitely at least did before The Dance), but I'm also saying it's not fair to judge her current appearance on this pic alone.

I actually hold the opinion that she was in the right there. Believe it or not.
Guys get to deduct things they use for their businesses from their taxes;
why can't Stevie deduct the things she uses for HER business?
Of course, she's an entertainer, it's not like she's a business person
pushing papers around...

But yeah, i.m.o. she was right. And hell, it was worth a shot. :)

Someone said to me that they wanted Chris to stop ageing, and I said basically the same as you. We've had a hell of a lot out of Chris over the years and as much as I'd ADORE new material, I also want her to be happy so... If walking her dogs and not seeing anyone is what makes her happy then so be it :)

Anyway as to the rest of your question, yes mama bitches about the Botox but girl's no stranger to the needle. I suspect she's had/been having injections of dermal fillers for years.
Also she's picky about lighting and how she's photographed. That explains a lot about the way she looks in the Destiny Rules doc.
As for surgery to her face, I don't think so.

It's in the Christine McVie forum, under the Wickhambreaux thread.
I think Christine looked fantastic for The Dance and also looked great when she was promoting In the Meantime. But it was the real Chris I liked, the one that showed up on video and was moving around, with those familiar gestures and mannerisms.
The creature who was photographed for the Dance and Meantime album covers and Rolling Stone promotional pics . . . I don't think that was really Christine. It may have been her Navi avatar, grown for photo sessions.

I remember during the Time Space Tour, a radio DJ commented that Stevie had just had some lipo-suction done. Not sure if it's true.
As for Christine, she always had a simple look. I thought she look glamorous starting with the TITN era and rolling on into ITM. Although there was quite a bit of photography trickery in those shoots, very bright light (which takes away skin blemishes and natural color), and not to mention what the hell was done in post edit of the photos. That recent photo of her out with the dogs is probably what she's looked like for a long time. She seems very thin and gaunt. She will never be back with FM. She seems quite retired. Hell, I wouldn't want to work at all at her age either.

I think Christine's always been beautiful, but it is true that her looks have got better with age. The photograph in the newspaper article is all out candid and the only thing she probably had on her mind was making sure the dog didn't go in the road or poop on the sidewalk, not having full stage makeup on

Christine: No comment.
Stevie: Of course she's had some nips and tucks over the years. It is foolish to think she's had nothing done. She's an entertainer. She gets paid to look good and she is a bit on the vain side after all. Imagine millions of people scrutinizing your every nook and cranny lol. I do not think she's had a major overhaul but she's definitely had some refining and rejuvenating here and there and quite frankly I could care less. She will remain timeless in my heart, wrinkles or not.

I really don't like the cover photo on In The Meantime. Sorry guys but I just don't think it does her justice. It's such a shame because Chris is naturally pretty and striking to look at but I just find that picture too false-looking, which jars with what I feel is a very relaxed, sometimes intimate album. I wish the artwork was more natural... but then it's up to her!

I think Stevie has had some touchups, and probably will have some in the future, because she "cannot not look like Stevie Nicks!"
"After being a rock and roll sex symbol after all that time and then all of the sudden to be this little fat girl was just sooo unacceptable to me! I cannot not look like Stevie Nicks!! I created this image, I created the clothes, the hair, the whole look! If I cannot look like her, then I'm not going to go on anymore!"

No it was her response to refusing to sing on stage anymore because she was 175 lbs, because she didn't look like "Stevie Nicks" and if she couldn't look like she used to then she wasn't going to perform anymore. It wasn't a quote that had anything to do with plastic surgery, but I do feel it shows just how vain mamma can be. Not that thats a bad thing tho, I'm all for her rejuvenating herself a bit every once in a while, just as long as she doesn't go way overboard!

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but 61 year old women do not look like that without having a little help and given that Stevie herself has admitted having botox and surgery (for her breast implants) in the past, it doesn't seem to me to be that far of a stretch that she's had other things done too.

My wife swears Stevie has had work done on her nose. Anyone else notice it? I never see specifics - yes, I can tell Stevie looks different over the years but I don't really notice how. I know she had problems internally in her nose due to cocaine, but my wife swears the shape of her nose has changed drastically.
One thing I HAVE noticed: her lips! I love the STREET ANGEL pics, with her large lips. That, I'm sure, is not natural.

One thing I HAVE noticed: her lips! I love the STREET ANGEL pics, with her large lips. That, I'm sure, is not natural.
At some point, probably after the TITN era, it does appear that she had some work done on her nose and on her grille, which is a shame. It looks like she had the tip of her nose planed down and some operation to reduce the size of her nostrils. And it also looks like she had her buck teeth replaced or filed down, presumably to eliminate a slight overbite. It's a shame... her nose and teeth gave her a cute, pixie aura. But don't get me wrong- the work she had done was flawless if not just a bit bland. As for her lips... I think she sometimes has her upper lip re-drawn with lipliner for photoshoots; I don't think she has had them plumped.
Call me naive, but other than the things described above, I don't really think she has had any other invasive surgical work. Yes, she is probably injecting, grinding, lasing, pulsating, slathering everything imaginable under the sun. But I sincerely believe her when she describes her fear of no longer looking like herself. Yes, she looks somewhat different now than she did 30 years ago. But then again she is 30 years older and she's carrying a few extra pounds- that will tend to change a person's appearance! Yes, there are times when she has looked a little haggard, and other times she has looked refreshed, but I think that can be achieved through intensive non-surgical treatments.
APerfectLie

Does she see beauty when she looks in the mirror? 'Sometimes I still think that I'm looking OK. And other times I look at myself and I go, "Oh, my God, you're so old." '
She pulls a face and laughs. 'I wrote a song once called The Prettiest Girl in the World, and that was a long time ago. But when you've been the prettiest girl in the world - and I don't mean the most beautiful girl; I just mean a really pretty girl, a really talented girl, a girl who writes really good songs. When you've been all that and you're a lot older, it is hard. You see the lines' - Nicks runs her fingers along the thickening curve of her jaw - 'and you start to see this happening; and even though I'm thinner than I was a long time ago, you see your body changing and you go, well maybe this is not age-appropriate and I shouldn't wear the chiffon scarf any more; and then you go, but if I'm going to change the whole thing it's not me any more.' She shakes the thought to one side. 'I'm just terribly excited to get into my rock'n'roll penthouse and out of here. I feel old here.'
telegraph.co.uk
I never wanted to believe that Stevie had undergone any cosmetic surgery but I'm convinced she did have a facelift in late 1989. During the photoshoots, promotion and subsequent tour for The Other Side Of The Mirror, she definitely l00ked the worse for wear. She had come out of rehab in 1986 relatively unscathed in a physical sense, looking incredibly attractive and youthful considering all she had put herself through. However, it was in 1988 during various concert performances that she started to show her age and by 1989, there was no concealing that time was catching up with our girl (not even the frosted lenses could rescue her at that point).
I still remember some rather unkind articles in the UK press around the release of Mirror referring to the fact that her promotional photos were akin to works of art once Stevie was actually glimpsed in the flesh. The comments centred around her weight and diminished beauty.
It's always strange to me that Stevie cites the Street Angel tour as coinciding with her heaviest, most unattractive phase because I believe she was just as meaty during the Mirror tour five years earlier. Perhaps it was more noticeable to her since she had recently dispensed with the anti-depressants? In any case, I believe Stevie elected to have facial surgery and liposuction in late 1989. When she appeared with the Mac in early 1990 for the Behind The Mask promotion and tour, she looked remarkably rejuvenated. She started to go off the rails again later that year but still looked good during the Timespace promotion and tour in 1991.
By 1995, Stevie decided once again to clean up her act and had her breast implants removed early that year. I remember seeing photos/footage of her 1996 concerts and being surprised at how beautiful she looked. It occurred to me that she may have had another round of "intervention" at that point. Between then and The Dance comeback in May 1997, she lost a considerable amount of weight and it's quite possible that more liposuction was responsible for such a drastic transformation.
Nobody ever really commented on the possibility of Stevie having had facial surgery because she wasn't really sought after between 1989 and 1996 so "downtime" to recuperate would have been achievable back then, perhaps not so easy now. She has perhaps felt confident making comments in recent years about not wanting to undergo the knife (to retain her features) because she must think no one suspects she's ever had it done in the past.
Since then, Stevie has come clean regarding the breast augmentation and a "one-off" botox disaster but I suspect she's sought out other means of rejuvenatioin as mentioned by HejiraNYC. I also believe she has had subtle re-shaping of her nose but wonder if this had more to do with internal problems after the cocaine abuse than vanity?
Of course, all my comments are purely speculative and whether Stevie has or hasn't had cosmetic surgery makes absolutely no difference to me. If looking good assists in terms of confidence and allowing her to continue her career, then I guess it's no bad thing. Having said that, if it were up to me, I'd prefer she resist any further "intrusions" and just focus on the music.

If she did have any facial work done she must have had a very good surgeon. Facially she still looks the same to me, definitely can't tell (her face doesn't look pulled tight like a lot of celebs who've gotten F.L's) and she still looks young. With weight loss it's hard to tell if she did have lipo or just lost the weight naturally.
DefDumbandBlond, I agree that Stevie's work is very natural looking but there are occasions where it seems more apparent than others. I remember an interview with the Mac on ET to promote The Dance in late 1997 where her face did actually look tight and it almost seemed as though a millimetre or two had been shaved off the outline of her entire head! Something just didn't look quite right if you know what I mean.
There are also a couple of segments in the Destiny Rules documentary where she looks a little less than natural which I think others have already commented on.
Believe, I want to be proven wrong on this - I hate the thought of her being carved up. I remember when I first learned about her having had breast implants, I was horrified but I reconciled this information with the fact that they had at least been removed. I remember being similarly upset when Deborah Harry revealed she'd had multiple cosmetic surgeries because I just feared for her safety!
PS I don't believe Stevie has had her lips altered - they've always been rather luscious and I agree with another poster that she just fills them in with make-up as required.

Yes, I do think they settle or the skin stretches back to a bit more natural fit. I think when you get them, the doctor will tell you the effects only last for X number of years. The people who look tight all the time are the ones who keep going back to get regular touch ups.

I don't think she's ever had a full-on facelift. I do think she does minor things to rejuvenate herself and minor skin upkeep. But I think she's just aged well naturally. There are minor surgeries or skin tightening methods for face and neck she may have had done, but as far as a full facelift, I would say No.

Well said my friend! You have basically reiterated what I said initially - she's had some nips and tucks but nothing majorly invasive. Just gotta say no way was she bigger on TOSOTM tour in 89 than she was on the Street Angel Tour in 94. I think her the big puffy shoulder pads, huge hair, bloated face, dresses that the top outlines the boobs and makes them look like watermelons and ridiculous hats and outfits gives that impression but if you look at the videos at the waist she's really pretty small still in 1989.

LOL! Crimping is the absolute worst look for her IMO! It's actually bad for most people unless done occasionally and by a professional. Definitely not a good all-around "look". I would rather see her same old hair style any day than crimping. I mean what are her options nowadays? Straight, long and wavy, died brown or black, short . I'm thinking cornrows ;).

I believe the way she explained it back in the day (I think it was on Letterman?) was that she would have her hair braided and set overnight so that it would come out wavy and fluffy- definitely not as damaging as crimping. I assume Stevie has her own reasons for keeping her hair this way. To be honest, I also loved, loved, loved the middle-parted look she sported for the first leg of the SYW tour. To this day I wonder why she changed back to her old look with the bangs- I thought the middle part was quite flattering. Anyway... it's a shame because she still has a remarkable head of hair.

Me too. I thought it shaved years off her face. It was such a throwback look too, I loved it! It all went ugly tho when she went back to side parting it without bangs

I believe the way she explained it back in the day (I think it was on Letterman?) was that she would have her hair braided and set overnight so that it would come out wavy and fluffy
Yes, and I said 'crimping' but this is actually to what I was referring to. She claimed to be the victim of an "idiot" hairdresser who gave her a "root perm" and screwed it up, making her hair look "like a broom". The tiny braids minimized the broom look, apparently. She said it was a lot of work, but then admitted "I kinda like it."
She said all this on the Crystal Visions commentary for 'Blue Denim'.
As for the parted down the middle look sans bangs that she sported for part of the SYW tour, my thought was it looked unflattering.
You know which hair I really liked? The photo shoot for her OSOTM article in 'Us' magazine in '89, the one where she is wearing the yellow satin robe. She looks beautiful there, if anyone has the pic...

+1 and +1. I rather enjoyed everything about the Street Angel era. I'm also way over her "modern Stevie" hair. We saw such promise with her at least tweaking it for Soundstage. But alas, that seemed to be a one time thing.
I loved it when it was wavy/curly whatever you'd like to call in on Soundstage, and in that E! Interview last year with Lindsey. So pretty! :D

I'm way over her modern hair now too, but there have been some instances in the past 15 years when she has spiced it up, like during soundstage and in these pics and I freaking love it! Now if only she'd bring these changes out more than once every few years we could all be happy! Edit: Can you imagine what The Dance would have been like had she done the concert with her hair styled the way it is on the cover??

That would have been cool had she filmed The Dance concert with her hair styled like on the cover. But if you watch the show she did come out at first with it all sprayed and scrunched up some until they brushed it out again as the show taped on. When they're singing The Chain it looked good.

Not sure what thread the TMZ video is posted in but I was thinking about it and I really hate that she says, "I'm too old for this guys". Again, me and the age thing. No your not Ms. Nicks! Anyone else noticed that the only album cover where Stevie has straight hair is Street Angel?
Even after she'd been sporting the current straight 'do for a while, she seems to do curl her hair a bit for album covers...The Dance, TISL, SYW...

It looked good on the SYW cover. It looked a bit darker blonde though but still good wavy. I think she hates that it takes so long now to get it that way and so much effort and time so she just wash and wears it pretty much so that's what we get I guess. And for those that aren't aware, a hot straightening iron tames the frizzies and makes ones hair so sleek and shiny/healthy looking, so maybe that's another reason we get the straight hair so much.

I think in that instance she had a medical scare with her nose and all and it was never about vanity. A plastic surgeon simply could've taken a look at her nose or was called in? I don't think she was initially there for a brow lift or anything.

She said "I didn't go to an ENT (Ear, nose, and throat doctor), I went to a plastic surgeon and said 'So, check out my nose and tell me what you think.'"
I think she went because of her nose, but I think it is interesting that she picked a plastic surgeon instead of an ENT, possibly because she is more comfortable around a plastic surgeon. Granted, she may have just wanted her nose fixed and plastic surgeon was the first thing to come to mind, but that shows that plastic surgery would be something she would consider if she needed something fixed. I guess what I am trying to say is that she had no problem going to a plastic surgeon in 1985 to look at her nose, what makes us think she'd have a problem going to a plastic surgeon now to look at her droopy brows?

I think so far she hasn't had any kind of full on facelift, because you can always tell. I do think she does minor upkeep like peels and possibly maybe some non-surgical skin tightening of areas and what not. But a full on facelift, No. When she comes out looking like Joan Rivers or Joan Collins, I will then believe that. And I'm not against her doing that if she ever does, I just hope she chooses a great surgeon that will do it right. That's always the iffy part when stars or everyday people go have this done. I do know TLC channel used to show what a facelift operation looked like, and they literally cut your face off of you and sew it back on tighter. It's as gruesome as it sounds and what you look and must feel like after having that done. It looks awful.

Precisely! And that's one of my strongest arguments for why I feel she's AT LEAST had an upper eye lift done. After all, she's had her bewbs done, has had a rhinoplasty, why not other 'minor' surgical tweaks? And an eye lift is an outpatient procedure... my "mother in law" had it done last year. Heals in less than two weeks and is totally invisible. They just cut off the extra upper lid skin, and sew it back along your brow... you literally can't tell there was ever an operation. Like I keep saying... just look at the corner of Stevie's eyelids on Lindsey's Soundstage, and then watch Stevie's Soundstage. Stevie's undoubtedly had that procedure done. It's not something that radically changes one's appearance at all. You truly have to look hard to notice the difference in the first place.

I think she does minor things to her face and skin and takes good care of her body but has done nothing surgically drastic. We were discussing how great she looks almost 30 years later on 7W and she hasn't ever lost it really. These pics say it all.

Is that first shot from 89 or from the beginning of the BTM tour in '90? I only ask because she looked great at the beginning of the BTM tour but gained quite a bit of weight/bloat by the end. Still, I agree, she was definitely heavier during Street Angel.
