A thread in the chit chat forum about young fans got my little brain wondering. How old was everyone here when you want to see Fleetwood Mac for the first time?
I was 12 years old... and it was the Time tour. I still remember it like it was yesterday! I was just giddy with excitement. I was 16 when I saw my first Mac member solo show: Stevie's Enchanted tour. I still hate I've not seen any of the other solo Macsters. I have always been dead broke when Lindsey comes to the Carolinas (and he's never come within a couple hours of Charlotte, anyway). I'd especially like to see him. I'd love to see Bob Welch perform too. Guess I gotta get on top of my Mac bucket list!

I was 8! I had lawn seats to the "Say You Will" tour in New Jersey and it was amazing! I had been listening to Mac all my life, but never knew what they looked like. My mom was like, "Miranda, i'm letting you know right now that the woman likes to spin around in lots of lace and flowy dresses" and that's when i fell in total admiration with Stevie.

I saw Stevie when I was 14, but I didn't see the Mac until last year. (Incase you can't do the math, I was 15 ;) )
Funny story, when my aunt and I were at the Unleashed concert in Milwaukee she was like "I'm pretty sure I saw Fleetwood Mac in the 70s." And I was like "OMG NO WAY WHAT YEAR?! HOW COME YOU'VE NEVER TOLD ME!?" She said "Well... you see... it was the 70s. And I don't think I knew it had a name." She also deemed Mick the Drumming Santa. I love my aunt!

I was 18 in June 2004 on the SYW tour. They played a bigger arena in Houston the previous october....in fact it was the very first concert at that arena (The Houston Rockets play there), but the ticket prices weren't too high. They came in 2004 to a smaller place and lower prices so I went to that one.

I forgot to mention that I first saw Lindsey live in 1993.
I saw Fleetwood Mac at Wembley on their Tusk tour - how fantastic it was - and i was only 17 or 18. It is really great to see so many young Mac fans on here. Unfortunately I didn't get to see Stevie solo until the other side of the mirror tour in Dallas and Huston in 1989 and then in London later that year. Its time she came back to the UK solo.:]

I was 18...(yes, there was a time long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away when I was a teenager)...
...August, 1974, at the taping of Don Kirshner's Rock Concert TV show (that entire season was filmed at the Center Theatre in Long Beach, CA)...
...saw them a few months later (December) at the Long Beach Arena, one of Bob Welch's last shows (if not THE last show) as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Climax Blues Band was the opening act.
I'd had tickets about a year earlier, but it turned out that the show I had tickets for would've been the "bogus Mac", so I got my tickets refunded. In hindsight, I should've gone for historical purposes to actually be able to say
"I saw the bogus Mac", but, who knew??

Michele
Yeah I was alitle scared, & getting yelled at did cross my mind LOL
If ONLY I had my friend with me at the time, I would of grabbed her arm and dragged her in, would of been so easy to just walk in then mingle lol, it was a really big tent, there were 5 other bands playing at this outdoor gig, so a really big party atmosphere going on inside, large esky's/barrel's full of alcohol & of course the smell of pot was evident, so I scaned the tent looking for Stevie & the Mac, to my amazment there they were in the back corner, Stevie & Christine were sitting down huddled together in the corner laughing, drinks in hand, the boy's were just standing up not talking, backs turned & looking not at all interested joining in with the girls convo.
I remember watching their performance, thinking ooh Stevie & Lindsay really DONT like each other, no eye contact at all, Stevie looked very serious on stage, she did make a comment to the crowd in the front row that something down there smells really good, as pot was passed around under her nose she lent over the stage to smell it:D she did a kick arse Rhiannon & Gold Dust Women. I had such a great time, a cherished memory from a long time ago!!!!

I was 24 when I saw them on the Time tour in1995 at the Rockfest near Eau Claire Wisconsin.
Honorable mention: When Fleetwood Mac came to Minneapolis on the Tusk tour on May 9&10, 1980 I begged my mom for 3 weeks to elt me go but she wouldnt. Not that shes a prude, but she knew what went on at rock concerts back then and she did want her impressionable 9 year old son exposed to it. The 2 days of the shows I sat in my rrom with the curtains drwan listening to my Fleetwood Mac records and wishing I was at the shows!:lol:

I had just turned 16. August 31, 1975 at Balboa Stadium in San Diego. General admission lawn seats were a whopping $7.50 The concert was Rod Stewart and Faces, Loggins and Messina, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Fleetwood Mac with brand new members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks! Here is a picture of the ticket stubs. Unfortunately they ripped the ticket stubs in half when you entered. No scanners back then. The Fleetwood Mac side wasn't on the remaining half.

i was 18. it was november 1997 the Dance tour. It was not only my first Mac concert, it was my first EVER concert. I went with my sister and her husband. It was lousy for me because I spent soooo much on the tickets and our seats were so far back and crappy, i couldn't see anything. i cried when they were all comming on stage to start singing "The Chain". Mostly because I couldn't see them. Then later on when Stevie was singing "Rhiannon", some drunk girl was standing up the whole time while we were all sitting down. She was swaying her ass back and forth to the music and I wanted to see Stevie and couldn't. My sister tried tapping her on her back to ask her to move but she wouldn't budge. I pouted for the rest of the night. When after they sang "Don't Stop", we headed towards the door to leave and I told my sister to wait because I knew that Chris would be singing "Songbird". We stood outside the main lobby I guess you call it, and at that moment my heart stopped. Christine sounded so beautiful. Her voice made everyone just shut up in the whole auditorium. I smiled and said that that was just what i needed to hear. She made you feel at ease and peacefull when she sang that song that it just brought you to your knees.
That was my first Mac concert. I made up for all the time I lost (because of the drunk girl) by seeing them in 2003 with floor seats. Too bad Chris wasn't with them. I would've liked to have heard "Songbird" from inside the auditorium for once.

Your experience sounds a lot like mine! My first FM concert was October 1997 for The Dance tour. I also had terrible seats and since I'm really short, I couldn't see a thing when anyone stood. I did my best to see what I could. Some jerk girl sitting behind us and to the right talked loudly to her friends during every song that wasn't sung by Stevie. Considering I was wanting to hear Lindsey and Christine, I felt like slapping the girl!
I had better seats for the Say You Will tour. They weren't floor seats, but maybe the next level up. I still had trouble with people standing during the last four songs, but I was just happy to be there at that point.

Paula, are you on Facebook? If you are, you don't have to add me. Only if you want to.
I was a pre-teen when I first saw the band. I did not like that first show because I would have preferred being at an Elton John concert.
She's on there, David. She told me she was avoiding you like the plague!
I'm kidding, of course. You can find her on my friends list!

I was at Anaheim Stadium a couple of days later...no Skynyrd, just Faces, Loggins & Messina & FMac. My first FMac show seeing the "new" lineup. I was 19 at the time.

Wow! That must have been a great show. Stevie & Lindsey out on the road for the very first time with Fleetwood Mac , and they got to play some stadium shows supporting some very big names.
My first show was on Dec 6th 1979 at the L.A. Forum. I was 16 years old. It was the biggest show I had ever been to-my first in L.A.- and they were very LOUD. The set was great-it was the Tusk Tour, and they did alot of the new songs. I remember Save Me A Place, Angel, and Sara in particular. And the Chain & Rhiannon were awesome onstage at the time. The memories are very hazy now.

I was 14. Thursday 31 May Manchester Free Trade Hall.
I wasn't allowed to go unless my older sister came with me. Contrast that with when I saw them in 2003 when I couldn't read the programme because I hadn't brought my glasses with me!

My first Mac concert was at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on the Tango tour. Rick and Billy totally rocked it. Mick blew my mind with "World Turning" and it was just a wonderful night.

I was 13. October of 1997 for The Dance tour. MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas. I also saw them in Reno on the same tour. Not great seats but I'll always be glad I got to see them while Christine was still in the band.

I was 17 and it was the Tusk tour.
A thread in the chit chat forum about young fans got my little brain wondering. How old was everyone here when you want to see Fleetwood Mac for the first time?
It was 1976 and I was 1 yr old.

They were. :) Imagine seeing F Mac during the Tusk tour, with 7 new songs (including Angel, Sara, and Sisters of the Moon), plus seeing Christine play acoustic guitar on Save Me a Place. It was my very first concert!!! And on the White Winged Dove tour Stevie played 8 (yes 8) songs from Bella Donna, plus Gold and Braid, plus Blue Lamp! It was heaven. Plus that piano version of Rhiannon, with Roy Bittan. That will never be equaled. :)

I was already in my early 40s when I first saw Fleetwood, so the allure of rock music had already begun to wear off for me.
