Is there a really high-quality version out there? I think the demo version has to be one of the best songs she's ever made. I have a semi-decent version, but it's really quiet at the start, and there's a lot of noise throughout so everything sounds a little muffled. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has a really good high-quality version they could share? It would make my week

It would make mine as well!

I especially love that line "Don't trust me!" (in place of the "Turn around!" on the SYW version).

Yes! I love that line too!

Her vocal in the song is just fantastic, it's one of my favourite ever Stevie Demos. I just wish I had a perfect quality version

Well, hopefully, to quote Kate Bush: "Just saying it could even make it happen..."

Last Autumn, I asked around for a perfect quality version of the "Destiny" outtake from The Wild Heart, after years of having so-so quality versions. The very next week I received a perfect Masters-quality "Destiny" in my email!

Never give up hope! I won't!

Mike, I would love to hear that if you're able to share.

Hopefully, in the next two weeks I will have moved to my new place and have ultra-mega-new high speed Internet, and my plan is...

To upload EVERYTHING I have to share with EVERYONE!!!

Right now, unable to because of connection. But I move very soon, and I have LOTS of stuff I want to share.

And I'm always looking for more and better versions!

I can't wait...that will be GREATLY appreciated. Many of my older demos were burned onto CD's years ago (back when we thought CDR's were permanent) and there's so much that I've lost.

Good luck with the move!

Yes, Thank U Mike!! Looking forward to those downloads. I love the Wild Heart "Destiny" outtake it has such a heartfelt vocal. And who doesn't LOVE "All The Beautiful Worlds"?? I have to say that outtake must be one of Stevie's most beloved songs that never made it to a record, judging from all the love it has received on fan boards through the years. There was even a rumor that FM recorded it for SYW, but I think that was just wishful thinking.

I had read somewhere that Jimmy Iovine didn't care much for "Julia" and choose not to include it on Bella Donna, and she re-recorded it again hoping it would make the cut for Wild Heart, which of course it didn't. Jimmy has a shrewd and impeccable intuition about what makes a great record, but I think in retrospect he miscalculated in eliminating what would become 2 of Stevie's most loved outtakes. "Julia" is just epic, in that Stevie grand tradition of songs like "Sara", Bella Donna" , "Edge of 17, "Wild Heart" or even "Rhiannon"

And I'd take "All The Beautiful Worlds" any day over "Gate and Garden", and think it makes "The Wild Heart" a stronger record by a mile, not even mentioning that this could have easily been a hit single for Stevie! When I 1st heard this song off a bad bootleg in 1998, I though WTF, This has a fantastic vocal, melody, and killer hook in the chorus, that you can't get out of your head...So why on earth was this sitting in the vault somewhere?? What a missed opportunity, though Stevie has had many in her solo career.

Stevie really needs to have all of her 1st 3 Solo records remastered and these songs added. But I am doubtful that the time has already come and passed for this opportunity to happen.

Christopher, you phrased it perfectly in labeling "Julia" as "epic" ~ thank you! What an apt description!

The way Stevie changes the tempo, the shifting melodies, the descriptive lyrics... I just don't see how "Julia" isn't in every Stevie Fan's Top Ten list! :)

Its an OK song but ATBW is much better.....thats IMO that is......Julia isn't bad but its not my favorite outtake from BD/WH....other than I recall hearing it on a cassette tape back in 89 or 90.....one of those awful sounding tapes back than.....I could hardly hear it really.....so its been nice to hear some great Masters etc......I also wish Stevie would re-issue her full solo catalog with extras etc. Heck they could do it in LTD editions of only so many......or heck a large Box set.....again but better than Enchanted. Since she doesn't appear to want to release new things at all. I agree missed opportunities abound with Stevie solo as well as with Fmac too....sad but so true.........IMO anyway.....

I have been looking for high quality copies of Julia., All The Beautiful Worlds and the Runing Through The Garden demo for ages! The only ones I have are pretty loq quality and for some reason my connection keeps dropping when I try to get them of BuckinghamNicks.net - I'm having tech issues here so it;s issues at my end...

I have been collecting demos/outtakes for a long time, and have never come across great quality of "Running Through The Garden" RAL outtake, just versions that have been fan tweaked to make the original leaked copy sound better, by making it louder, or less bass...but it still taken from the muffled sounding version that was 1st circulated. On the other hand the Bella Donna session master tapes for "Julia" have been in circulation for well over 5 years now.

The list of songs I would die to have master quality of are mostly from the RAL era! Most of these songs undoubtably were scrapped when Stevie shelved her recordings w.Jimmy at the helm and went back to the drawing board to what would become RAL.

"Running Through The Garden" ...So much more passion in her vocal, and the two Stevie dueling vocals are just so powerful. And I agree, I really miss the "Don't Trust Me" in the SYW version.....It makes the song more deadly. This would have fit perfectly on RAL
"She Loves Him Still"...OMGawd, how did this not make the final cut.
"At The Fair"
"Something Exquisite"
"She Call's Him Missing" -Love this funky version, the verses hang together better w/ this arrangement, just so much better than what the song became on Street Angel>"Love Is Like A River"
"Jimmy Come Back"
"City Of Hope"- I actually think this is a "Wild Heart" outtake, based on the lyrics which are totally written about Robin.
And Im sure I missing a few that escape me right now...but these are definitely at the top of my wish list for better quality copies' along w/ All The Beautiful Worlds & Destiny "Wild Heart "outtakes.

"The Charmed Ones (Song For The City of Hope)" was written & recorded in January 1986, so it missed even being on Rock A Little.

WOW Mike!! I would have never placed City of Hope post RAL. And I have never heard it called "The Charmed One's". I like that title.... Your a welcome wealth of information.

That's the official title that Stevie copyrighted in January 1986 along with a cassette of the song.

"The Charmed Ones (Song For The City of Hope)"

The music, IIRC, is by the guys who wrote the music for "Running Through The Garden" & "Battle of The Dragon". Lyrics are Stevie's, of course.

I always thought it was The Wild Heart, as well, but I was wrong.

I agree with you , Mike, voice wise I would've never thought it was 1986 that it was recorded thats for sure....It really seemed like it was for WH but I guess those thoughts are wrong. I do love this song I just wish we had the 'full' completed version of this song....its totally awesome!!! I also like the song 'It takes a Long Time' another song that I have thats 'cut' too. I wonder if this is the sametime as City of Hope song cause her voice is similar too?? Do you know more about this song also Mike?? Its a shame so many wonderful songs were left off RAL or MM too me. It really could've been a great LP/cd......IMO......it just seems like RAL lacked some direction ....maybe cause of all the different producers & how Stevie was doing at that point in time......
