I wonder if anyone can help me? :wavey:
About a year ago I bought a second hand copy of The Vaudeville Years on Amazon (because it has not been re-issued), which also contained The Early Years DVD. So far so good, but now I have just realized that there should be a much aclaimed 56-page booklet with liner notes by Martin Celmins. This is missing from my copy :( !sigh!!!
Of course with this purchase being over a year ago, I never kept the name of the guy who sold me this copy.
Now do you know if this booklet/linernotes can be purchased somewhere on their own?

I'm not sure if one can purchase the liner notes anywhere, but you can read a text-only version in the Penguin discography for this release at http://discog.fleetwoodmac.net/discog.php?pid=645

Thank you very much mistermike! I am looking forward to reading it, after listening to The Vaudeville Years today, which I haven't done in a long time.

Hmm.. that's strange..
In my copy the booklet is not loose, but firmly attached to the cover.

although both releases were by the same company, It appears that they did not use the same design. One of the products "Show Biz Blues" the insert liner notes detatchs from the case and is too big to fit in regular CD slots. mine is loose in the folder. the other one, "The Vaudeville Years", is more like a book and is a different size. Companies pay a lot for packaging and some is better than others
I am glad that the notes are up on the web. It would be a pain to photocopy all those little pages
The notes are good

Interesting, Vinnie. My "The Vaudeville Years" and "Show Biz Blues" both are more like the "book" packaging that you described, where the liner note booklet is attached. So maybe those were earlier copies of each release and they decided to go cheaper on later ones?

My copies have the liner note booklets attached. I bought them in the USA.
"Show Biz Blues" has been published by Castle Music a Division of Sanctuary Records.
"The Vaudeville Years" has been published by Trojan Records a Division of Sanctuary Records.
Both were manufactured and distributed in the USA by BMG.

Thank you all. You are right, doodyhead - it would have been impossible to photocopy the pages of at booklet attached to the case!
Oh yes, these are brilliant liner notes. It has put my view of the music and the compilation into perspective, which is never a bad thing. It also seems like they might have been part of the research for the Peter Green autobiography, and they also have some of the quality of the Duster Bennet Biography. THANK YOU MARTIN CELMINS WHEREVER YOU ARE!
After reading all your responses, I had a good look at my copy of The Vaudeville Years - and alas! I see no publishing company anywhere! There is a three- page "leaflet", mainly with pictures of FM. The last page has the content of cd's 1 and 2 plus the DVD, and at the end an executive producer, producer, director, researcher, production coordinator is mentioned, but no company. At the back of the CD case is says "copyright" 1976 (!). Weird. I wonder if I have got my hand on a pirat-copy of some sort?
Anyway - as a dedicated fan (nerd) - I will have to get hold of the real thing. This booklet "being firmly attached to the cover" sounds like it should be. Like my copy of Show-biz Blues from Sanctuary, Casle Music 2002, with the booklet attached. Very neat indeed.

Ms Moose, did your copy come with a DVD?? There was no DVD with the original release of "The Vaudeville Years". If yours did come with a DVD, what's on it?

Hello sharksfan. The DVD is "Fleetwood Mac - The Early Years". Unfortantely no more and no less, meaning that it has exactly the same numbers on it as the video/DVD I bought two years ago by the same name. The difference is, that on the First DVD, someone with an irish accent is annoyingly talking over all the numbers (The Gift of the Gob?). The Early Years DVD that goes with The Vaudeville Years has someone with an american accent going through The Mac's early history very very quickly at the start. Fortunately he is not talking over the numbers. Also this DVD has the interview that Peter Green gave to DJ Dave Dixon in Detroit, on the 4th of December 1969 (according to Hjort). This is not on my first DVD (with the irish guy).
Unfortunately there are no never seen recordings on this. This is what we all wish and hope for, isn't it?
