Osmond family members have notified ET that Marie Osmond's son Michael Blosil leapt to his death Friday night in Los Angeles. Contacted by phone this morning, Donny Osmond tells us: "Please pray for my sister and her family."

Here are the details: Michael, who was in his late teens and is one of Marie's eight children, died after jumping from his downtown Los Angeles apartment at about 9 p.m. on Friday night. He left a note explaining he intended to commit suicide due to his life-long battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.

We're told that his mother Marie, who helped him fight the condition throughout his life, is devastated by the loss. Donny and Marie's Las Vegas show has been canceled tonight.

Sheesus! That's the second hollywood death in a week or less, involving the son of a "Big Star." I don't care what anyone says, as the saying goes - that town is still just as F'd up as ever.

Like these sort of things don't happen in normal everyday life and communities? A teen feeling like he, "has no friends and could never fit in" is not something that can only happen in Hollywood.

Fair enough, yes. But I do wonder if it's a little "rougher" there than it may seem to be underneath all that "glitter." The star of the Transformers movies - I forget her name - said recently that cocaine (for example) has been making a big comeback in Hollywood in the past few years. I'm not saying these deaths were drug-related; I just mean that it sometimes seems to me that people who have lived there might "have some right behind them" when they say that that town "isn't always all it's cracked up to be."

Personally, more than anything though, I blame depression - - - as a neural disease, I mean. (And maybe the "stigma" that sometimes can go along with it.)
