I was just watching one of the music channels showing 80s vids and a thought has just struck me. What if 'Total Eclipse of the heart' had been sung by Stevie instead of Bonnie Tyler.

Thats exactly what i was doing, I personally don't like 'holding out for a hero' but imagine how big Total Eclipse could have been for Stevie over here instead of ropey 'have a cough' Bonnie Tyler!

We missed the grand opportunity of seeing Stevie with a laser going through her head. Dammit.

I've had more than one person ask me if Stevie sang 'Total Eclipse of the Heart".

I don't know about Stevie singing it, but how about Christine?

This, I like a lot.
But the song has nice memories attatched to it, for me. It came on whilst I was waiting for Heart on a 50 Greatest Power Ballads last night and I had a little giggle to myself at the thought of Stevie in the video.

Yes i hadn't thought of that, that could've worked i think it would have to be a simplified version, Christine doesn't strike me as the belter type. I think what i'm trying to get at is that it could have given Stevie some of the same sort of success in the uk that she had in the states, I guess its always bugged me that Fleetwood Mac, and Stevie and Lindsey as solo artists get ignored a lot of the time over here.

When I was little one of my favorite songs was "It's A Heartache" by Bonnie Tyler which came out in '78. At that time I thought Stevie and Bonnie Tyler were the same person. When I got the "Rumours" album around '82 or so I still thought they were the same person. Obviously I realized they were not the same person.
But I think a Jim Steinman (the guy behind "Total Eclipse" as well as Meat Loaf's stuff) and a Stevie collaboration would interesting. Stevie doing a big bombastic song might be cool.
