I wanted to post a topic that I would be interesting and fun; has anyone here ever been to a Stevie/Mac show where either Stevie, Lindsey or Christine has forgotten the words to the song they were singing? Reason I ask is I was going through my cd's and ran across my copy of Fleetwood Mac in St.Louis, MO. in 2003. I was at that show singing along with "Stand Back" and right when the music break was through, Stevie was heading back up to the microphone. She started singing and it wasn't the same words and I was singing along and I stopped when she did and I looked over at my friend who was with me and he said, "Maybe you should go help her out." I smiled at the situation and I just cheered her on. She stopped singing, found the right place to start up again and did. When she started singing, "Well, I need a little sympathy..." she started pointing at herself smiling. I just cheered her on. She was a trooper. One of her favorites to do on stage and she forgot the words! I felt bad for her, but all I could do was cheer and show my support. Because that's all you really can do in those situations.
Share your story or an audio download. Here's mine! Enjoy! :wavey:

I believe this video belongs to a ledgie. Either way, it's not mine, and I wasn't there. But it's adorable! At about 1:40 she forgets the words and a few seconds later says "I got it" and picks back up.

1994 Canandaigua, NY Docklands.....She forgot the words near the beginning and the band just stopped....and they started the whole song over...she was too cute and it was so human...you couldn't help but cheer her on ... and forgivable too..it was a new song for her..

She got a little flummoxed at the start of DREAMS at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas July 1978.
On the 1986 tour, she started DREAMS several times with the second verse & had to sort of wing it or backtrack.

At FM's Birmingham NIA show she forgot the words to "Say You Love Me", luckily it was where both her and Lindsey were singing.
She started smiling and then pointed with both hands at her head and shrugged
I've actually got this on video! But damn Youtube won't let me upload properly!

At 5:15, Stevie forgets to sing, you can hear the girls start to sing but they stop quickly when they realize that Stevie is not.

she may have forgotten the words...but she still knows how do to the hip action!;)
She got a little flummoxed at the start of DREAMS at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas July 1978.
On the 1986 tour, she started DREAMS several times with the second verse & had to sort of wing it or backtrack.
I think she did this with Dreams in Saratoga NY in '78 as well. She started with "Here I go again" pause "whoaoooo....it's only me who wants to know (or go?)"
They seem to not play the Albany NY area much anymore. Last time FM was there was 2003 and Stevie hasn't been there since 1994 when a tornado whipped through the area the day of her performance and it was cancelled and never rescheduled. She hasn't been back since. Maybe she's superstitious.
Anyway, I noticed a lot of flubbing in that neck of the woods. The aforementioned 1978 show. In 1989 at Saratoga she forgot the beginning words to the bridge of Edge of 17: there was just a blank stare and she should have been singing "and the clouds never expect it." The girls came in at "...never expect it" and then Stevie caught on.
The November 1990 Mask show Stand Back at the Knickerbocker Arena in Albany was a complete disaster in the beginning. Anyone that was there or has heard the audio knows what I'm talking about. The band starts the song and Stevie does her extended walk to the mic for what seems like minutes upon minutes. She is at the mic for a while too before singing. I do not remember exactly what happened technically but maybe her mic was off and she tried to sing but no audio. The band continued the song and went into the chorus despite no vocals. I think they thought they should just keep going despite not hearing Stevie. At that point, you hear the "stand back stand back" music but Stevie's going "noone looked as I walked by..." Then she would stop...then start back again but the song kept going. This happened a few times. "Noone LOOKED" she would sing a few times. Then the music got quieter as the FM musicians realized what was happening. Slowly everyone got back on track and the rest of the performance was ok.
This was when Stevie was really stone-faced and serious and never cracked a smile about it during or after the performance. She looked like she was going to kick some serious ass after the show. She probably didn't though.

There's a version of Leather and Lace from the Wild Heart tour where she starts to sing but the background singers aren't and she stops and goes "why am the only one singing?" and at another point in the song something makes a loud crashing song and without missing a beat she goes "I didn't do that". It's really adorable. I'll have to try and find that.
There's also a live version of I Can't Wait where she starts with the third line "Sometimes she wakes up... and sometimes when she's only dreaming", then she covers her tracks be changing the third line to "then when she REALLY wakes up somehow..." It's crazy. But you know, I used to sing in a band and with everything going on with the lights and the band and the people and all, it's not that uncommon to forget the words to a song. Think about how many times you're talking to someone and forget a name or a word and it just won't come to you. When singing on stage every night is your normal routine you do forget words to songs and it's a scary feeling.

No, but it was lot commented that during the first DANCE session, she forgot the first lines of Dreams. They even said that Christine comfort her saying it's usual even for actors to forgot their lines on scenes they have played several times. Of course that never appeared on the DVD, so I don't know if it was true.
