So I'm going to openly rip off AnthonyMI's Rhiannon thread, with the exception of broadening it's scope :D. The thread title says it all. What is your favorite modern Stevie performance? What makes it so special for you? By modern, I will say anything 1997-2010. This can include solo or Mac, officially released or not.
This is probably a fluid answer... meaning it wasn't the same a couple of years ago, and it likely won't be the same a couple of years from now. That being said, I'm gonna have to go for:
How Still My Love from Soundstage.
Why? I can't precisely place that answer. The performance is sort of an amalgam of all the performances of the song I've ever heard... so thus, it shouldn't be all that special. She seems to have hand picked the best aspects of every rendition of the song she's ever performed, and calculatingly wove them together. I think perhaps the answer lies elsewhere, though.
The first time I saw the Soundstage concert, I was almost shocked at the raw sexuality Stevie exhibited for this song. The whole way she moved her hips and did the shawl twirl thing is about the most openly sexy I've EVER seen Stevie act. She was basically simulating stripping and making hot nasty lovin'... in a very Stevie way of course. I didn't think the old girl had that in her... she's become increasingly staid in appearance, clothing, vocally, and performance as time has marched on. She simply threw all of that out of the window with this one rendition. It was one of the most bold statements I've ever seen her make, it was like Stevie was proving: I may be 60, but I've still got moves that will make ANYONE blush... and I don't have to dress like a harlot to prove it!
I think in the end... you can just tell Stevie was having a ball, and that's what matters the most. She said back in the early '80s that this was her favorite song to perform on stage, and you can tell that's probably still the case. And that just shines through and through with this performance... and is probably why I love it so.

I'd have to say this is mine, mainly because the vocals on it are so freaking amazing. I wish she'd put this back in her setlist and sing it just like this.

As far as "officially released" stuff goes tho, I'd have to say Beautiful Child on Live In Boston. It was epic! And I still can't figure out why they left it off the LIB cd.

Beautiful Child from LIB is simply epic!!
Besides that, mine is probably Dreams from The Dance, only because of the second verse "here I gooo again, I seeeee the crystal vision". I don't know why but I usually end up rewinding it over and over :D

I'm 100% with Louie on "How Still My Love." Also, I'm huge on "Rhiannon" and "Silver Springs" from the Dance but probably more for my own sentimental reasons than anything else. I looooove how Stevie visibly shakes during both of these renditions.... It's like she's bottling up the coked out anger from '77 and tightly sealing it inside of a classy perfume vial. :)

I love Silver Soprings from The Dance, for the same reasons Danio has mentioned. I also love Stand Back from Soundstage, it's just brilliant! Stand Baaaacck!!
But I think I'd have to go for her performance of At Last from Stormy Weather - purely because it shocked the hell out of me when I heard it! I hadn;t heard her sing like that in a loooooong time and to know she could still kick ass vocally with such a different style of music was fantastic! The best moment for me is the "you are mine! you are mine!" I've never heard anyone else add that so it was great that she did her own version in that way.

I loved 'Red River Valley' with Chris Isaak.

Except for the delusional dork screaming at the beginning, this is a flawless performance. 5 years later, it still reduces me to real tears.

1. EVERY DAY from Rosie in 2001
2. LANDSLIDE with Lindsey on Letterman in 1997
but I also like HAS ANYONE from Letterman in 1998 & FALL FROM GRACE from the Blockbuster Awards show in 2001.

1. Fall From Grace (Blockbuster Awards)
2. Silver Springs (The Dance)
3. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around/I Need to Know (Tom Petty 30th Anniversary DVD). (these Petty performances are truly amazing!)
There are many more from unreleased boots that I can't think of right now. There were many exceptional performances on the Two Voices/Dreams tour in 2005.

I agree with all of those choices! When I saw the thread, the first thing that came to mind was how blown away I was by her 'Fall From Grace' performance on the Blockbuster Awards, I was so 'proud' that she was back with a new rock song that wasn't the easiest choice for her to perform, and she was there in a room full of industry people and she just sold that new song. The ovation at the end was loud and full.
And her vocals on 'Hotel California' and 'New York Minute' were maybe my two favorite concert performances of hers since the 80's. Too bad that was such a short tour, I would have loved to have seen it filmed for vh1 and live cd released of it.

It´s very hard to pick one... maybe my most favourite is also Fall From Grace from Blockbuster Awards.
But I also love Silver Springs from Live in Boston, Edge of Seventeen from Soundstage, I Need To Know and Stop Draggin´my Heart Around with Tom Petty on his video from 2005. Great is Gold Dust Woman with Sheryl in 1999, Stand Back in Storytellers (´98) and also on Live in Boston video.

I think GDW has stood up remarkably well, & I like the Soundstage version.
But I also love this one & wish we had gotten the whole song:

Oh, I'll add that she rocked "Running through the Garden" & it never should have been dropped from the SYW tour.

The ONLY thing that bothers me about this performance is the end vocals. I was there at the taping and I could see it in her eyes, she was trying to think of something else to sing besides "should I say?" but couldn't. Otherwise it's perfect. I remember seeing her towards the back of the stage doing the erotic dance which seemed like forever & the camera guy was SO CLOSE, and this huge camera up in her face and I thought "will this make it to the dvd?"

I'm also going to go with Beauty & the Beast but my fave is the one with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The other one posted is really beautiful too. It would be perfection if it didn't have that guy yelling "sing to me, Stevie" at the beginning.
