Oh Stevie! Tsk! Tsk! (her dragon painting)

[greendaze5]

Let’s NOT jump to conclusions people! Remember, any similarities are PURELY COINCIDENTAL.

Left: Illustration by artist Mercer Mayer from the book ‘East of the Sun & West of the Moon’ (Four Wind Press, 1980).

Right: Painting by Stevie from the ‘Bella Donna’ songbook (1981).

The songbook may have been copyrighted in 81, but do we know when Stevie actually drew her picture, or painting? It may have been in a journal for many years prior?

[jannieC]

What if she copied it- who cares?

[Sanne2]

Even if she copied it, I think it's cute.

[Meowi]

Totally a Stevie illustration

Well considering that Stevie's drawing is called "Stop Dragon My Heart Around" I don't think it was around for years prior. The similarities are more than close, it's almost the exact same. Maybe she did copy it, maybe she knows the artist of the other one? Who knows, I don't think it matters.

Nice discovery! how'd you stumble upon the original?

I've always liked Mercer Mayer's art, so you can imagine my surpise  when I bought the book and saw his dragon painting (I already had the Bella Donna songbook).
