I've recently noticed something odd about this album. At the end of every song on The Wild Heart, you can hear the recording device whirring to a hard stop. I've listened to plenty of albums from the analog era, but I've never heard it so pronounced. Really throws me out of the album each time I hear it. Seriously, The Wild Heart could use a good remastering.

The other day, I heard a door squeaking open about 4:30 in Bare Trees. Maybe I ought to stop listening to this stuff so closely!

If you play Wild Heart backwards it says "Lindsey Is Dead".
You do have to listen carefully.

I don't know what you're hearing, but the faders are pulled before the tape machine is stopped. Standard recording practice.

The mics in the studio would have never picked up the sound of the tape machine in the control room to begin with.

Are you using headphones to hear these noises? If so, are they noise cancelling headphones? If not, maybe the whirring sound you heard was your washing machine or refrigerator. Maybe the door closing sound was your roommate. just kidding!

The only alien sound I notice on that album is a few seconds into "I Will Run to You". There is definitely a mechanical sound there.

Yeah I believe that's how that whole rumour started.

Seriously though, there is something I heard backwards in "Never Going Back Again" on Rumours. I had the song recorded on a mix cassette that ended up twisted and played backwards. Maybe it's my imagination but it sounds like Lindsey says 'Sorry but I hate you, Stevie. May be the reason why it aint working'.

That's very funny:laugh: Actually I think it says "I buried Lindsey." (aka "I buried Paul" in case the Beatles reference is missed).

i know the sound youre talking about...i think that is feedback or something from the guitar.
but that vibrating noise at the beginning of beauty and the beast drives me nuts! it sounds like my speakers are blown!

I think the vibration adds to the atmosphere of the song. I know what you mean though, my speakers have done that too.

You can hear background noise in Beautiful Child right before the "you say it woul be harder" part.
