View Full Version : 'So Into You' & other lawsuits?

I just saw on an informative but confusing song Copyright web site, that Stevie was listed amongst the plaintiffs of a lawsuit against the writers of the 70s hit song 'So Into You', and also for the song 'Car Wash' (!)
I definitely hear a strong Stevie influence in 'So Into You' but can't specifically say which Stevie song it sounds like, it just sounds Stevie-ish
This is the first I've heard about it, was wondering if anyone knows whatever happened with this suit? I imagine it may have been settled out of court.
Interesting also that on this site 'Landslide' and other Stevie songs have Dec. 31, 1969 as the date the songs were created. Also noticed that Jon Bon Jovi was initially on the application for co-writing 'Listen To The Rain' with Stevie and the 2 other writers, but that a later amendment just has the 3 writers and not Jon.
So, anyone know about 'So Into You'? The band that had the hit song with it, I think was the same band that had the hit song 'Imaginary Lovers' that famously sounded just like Stevie when the (33) album version of it was played on 45.
Following is a link to the web site where I saw the 'So Into You' suit listed- there's a ton of Stevie song titles on there, with many, many links to other songs of hers. http://www.faqs.org/copyright/listen-to-the-rain-by-stephanie-nicks-jon-bon-jovi-scott/

I don't know anything about that lawsuit, but that song rings bells because people used to say if you changed the speed on So Into You it sounded very much like Stevie. I think some disc jockeys started doing that.

It was actually "Imaginary Lover". By Atlanta Rhythm Section. It still pops up on limewire and project playlist as "Stevie Nicks" sometimes. It really does sound like her when it's played at a higher speed.

Nikolaj, this site is a great find! I noticed that several of Stevie's songs were copywritten AFTER an album had been released already.

Just listened to this album last week as a matter of fact. Here is Imaginary Lover at a higher speed and it totally sounds like Stevie. Never knew about any lawsuits either.

If you take ANY song of ARS' back then, and played the album at about 39-40 rpm (for those with adjustable speed turntables), they'd sound EXACTLY like Stevie...at 45 it sounds like Stevie coming down off of a helium balloon hit.

That is actually a very cool and clever discovery. I think the as the Ledge should have a project and transform their entire catalogue. For those not totally familiar with ARS, it would almost be like a bunch of new Stevie songs! ha ha ha

This is crazy!! There is a slight noticeable difference to die-hard fans, but, it's very, very close.

I guess if you didn't listen to a lot of Stevie's music, you might mistake this for her, but I don't really think this sounds like her voice. There's a different inflection on the ends of the words that sounds different to me.

I agree, thatgirlwasme. If anything, some parts of her voice song like a strange cross between a wild heart - rock a little stevie. Leaning more towards WH. But I was listening to the sound like it was actually Stevie, and trying to pin it to a certain era. When I couldn't do that it makes the song sound less and less like Stevie's voice.

I know that it isn't Stevie, just saying it does sound like her at a different speed.

Maybe "Atlantic Rhythm Section" is a side project of Stevie's since she just has SO MUCH STUFF, so she needed a third outlet for it, but slowed the records down and dubbed the band ARS. LMAO
