Way to go.
I quit smoking cigarettes 8 weeks ago, and it is sooooooooooooo hard.
A commitment to help yourself for the better is no small task, so with that said, again congratulations to you and here's to another year and many more.:woohoo:

I quit drinking for a year, and then fell off the wagon circa new years.
I also had not had a cigarette since like March, but then caved when I got drunk on new years.
Oh well. Throw away that pack. And no more drinking for me!

You have a hard road ahead of you. Keep up the fight. In order to successfully quit cigarettes you must wage a war against your body: and win that war!! Two months is terrific but you're hardly out of the woods yet. We all have different cravings. Some last longer than others. So you might get over your addiction quicker than I did mine. I chain smoked Cigs for 20 years and then quit cold turkey. I gained 35 pounds eating everything in sight. I had cravings everyday for 11 months. Then one day I woke up and said to myself, "wow I didn't have any cigarette cravings yesterday!"
A cigarette craving lasts anywhere from 10 to 45 seconds. I had 4 of them a day. When they occured I took in a deep breath and then let it out slowly. This is what we do when we puff on a cig: we take a deep breath and we let it out slowly.
There is more I could say on the subject but I'll end with the fact that I have been cigarette free now for seven and a half years! I never think about cigs anymore and can't wait till mary jane is out of my thoughts for good as well.

I never had a problem with alcohol but I was a major stoner for almost 30 years. I am very aware that if I have a drink of booze I am not gonna be able to unjustify that drink. Every time I get stressed out I will drink to calm my nerves. After a couple of months I will start smoking pot again along with the drinking and then the vicious cycle will repeat itself. I know this as a fact because I have already lived this. Not once, but twice.
I am a member of N/A (Narcotics Anynomus) and we are taught that alcohol is a drug. Many addicts have relapsed believing they could drink instead of doing their drug of choice. We have all failed because alcohol always led us back to the drug we most desire. My drug is marijuana.
I live in a State that de-criminalized marijuana one year ago. It is every smokers dream. Three days after the law went into effect was when I quit for good.

We can have that toast. I would be quite honored. However, I will be drinking gatorade and you will enjoy the champagne.:woohoo:

I commend you for your tolerance. Ignorant people should not be held accountable for their lack of tact.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I totally miss it every day. Not happy about it at all. But I will try to win the war as you said. Deep breaths do help, and so does the treadmill. Anyway, we will see. Congrats again, and thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

I am filled with serenity. But life is life, one day at a time. There will be good days and bad days. In the words of Stevie Nicks: You gotta take it as it comes. Sometimes it don't come easy. Name that song?

YAY! Congratulations. Here's to many more sober years ahead. I'll bet your major organs are thanking you and hoping you stay on the wagon forever. The longer you're on it the easier of a ride it is. I traded drugs for alcohol then alcohol for ice cream. I'm currently looking for an ice cream replacement. :D

At my N/A Homegroup meeting tonight we had a huge party celebrating mine and two other guys' anniversaries. I had to speak in front of almost 100 people. It was scary, but lots of fun. My mom and my brother and my nephew and two of my friends came to support me. There was lots of good food and good music and a ton of hotties. I was presented with a gold medallion representing one year clean.
