View Full Version : Do You Want To See The Eagles Tour With Fleetwood Mac

Pretty self explanatory. We've talked about it, so let's see what the numbers actually are.
I say NOO!!!!
Never thought I would- but tix would be ridiculous, and the sets would probably be pretty bland.
Less Rockin' Lindsey and Sexy Stevie time!

I'd like to see The Eagles in concert at some point, just not with Fleetwood Mac. I think it's a big mistake for Fleetwood Mac to be an opening act for anyone, for big money or any other reason. They are too good for that.

I selected 'Yes' because I have always wanted to see the Eagles so I think this type of tour would be great providing the tickets arent too crazy expensive. I dont want to pay more than $200 or so for a floor seat though thats for sure. I was thinking it would be cool for them to have the floor be all seats except for the front area they could have it be general admission. I saw Bon Jovi at Heinz Field about 3-4 years ago and my friend and i got general admission pit seats and it was so much fun because they only sold a certain amount of tickets so that there was plenty of room to see the band and you werent packed in at all. my friend and i were able to stand in the back of the pit and watch the show with nobody around us and we had a fantastic view. it was one of the best shows i have seen and a lot of fun!!

I consider this whole thing as a rumour which will never actually happen but the answer to this question is easy: NO, NO, NO!! Simply cause I don't like the Eagles. :p If I go to an FM concert I want to see FM and nobody else. Perhaps I'd think about it if the other band was somebody I liked but the Eagles are a no-go.

I don't think this will happen but I;d love to see it, just not as a tour, which is why I selected No. Tickets would be prohibitively expensive apart from for the (very) priviliged few and this would mean that so many actual fans couldn;t see the shows.
I would hoever love to see them do a joint gig so if they released a dvd of a show, something like M's The Dance or one of the Eagles many similar dvds, then I'd buy it immediately!

HELL NO.
But I'm not seeing it happen anyway, the ego's involved are much too big.
It's like the Metallica/Guns N Roses tour from '92, and that was disastrous.

That's exactly what I was thinking. GnR, Metallica and an opening act. Extreme, I think. At the time I loved both bands, but seeing them separately was MUCH better.

If they did one show together for a special benefit I would be all for it. Just to go out on the road as a double bill is something neither band needs to do. For now I voted "no" but I really can't make up my mind until the details are released. I'd like to see some Walsh/Nicks/Buckingham interaction. Now that might be interesting.

Absolutely! This is the best case scenario. They've both said that they want the album released on cd so I really don't get what's stopping them. They must own the masters by now if they didn't before, it's been over 30 years!, so I don't buy that they have no control over whether it's released or not.
I've heard that it's to do with the cover picture and that Stevie hates it. Fair enough, but surely that is easily solved? There are hundereds of pics of the 2 of them from that era...

I say no for multiple reasons. I'm a big fan of both bands... and I've never seen the Eagles live. I'd love to see them. My biggest issue with this pairing is we'd be getting a watered down, caricatured version of both bands... at an exorbitant price. The media will just have a field day with this tour too. I can hear the token terms "soft rock dinosaurs" and "aging rockers" used ad naseum. It's the last thing the Mac needs for their credibility.
More importantly to me, I'm boycotting Fleetwood Mac at the moment until they have new material to support. My absolute favorite part about seeing Fleetwood Mac/solo members shows is how they translate new songs to the stage. And seeing how the songs are tweaked as the tour progresses. After all, I've heard Rhiannon and Go Your Own Way "a million billion times" (to paraphrase Joe Walsh on the subject of banging Stevie ).

No!
I've seen the Eagles twice in concert. I've seen Don Henley solo, and Don with Stevie.
Don Henley solo was awesome. I liked him with Stevie, too. He brought something new out of her which was fabulous...
The Eagles are a great group. But, they sing their hits. Almost exactly the way they are recorded.
FM just has a different tone. So, you'd have two mega-groups of the 70s with their fans: old and new, drunk and sober, psychotic and recently released...and, eh...it just bugs the hell out of me to know they'll be some Platinum Package for just $100,000 and a kidney or two, to have a seat, maybe in the first 10 rows (they'll let you know when you get there) and a stale sandwich with Mick and Joe, and a decal to stick on your tushie or something. And,of course, the whole tone of the package is designed to let you know what a FAVOR they are doing you by letting you spend your hard earned cash that way.
While the rest of us (in other words, the BAD fans) can sit inthe boonies for $250.
No thanks.

Stale sandwich? What now? I feel I've been robbed. I never got anything to eat!
Seriously, I'd pay the money, but I can't deal with the first 10 rows. The only reason I got the package is that they sold single seats. In the smaller venues where there wasn't that high a demand, you could feel confident of getting a seat in the first 3 rows, but this tour, where they are intent on playing stadiums . . . If it's going to be a first 10 rows deal in large cities, it's scandalous.
And what are the alternatives? Can you imagine what the scalpers are going to charge for this show? And with them, you usually have to buy 2 tickets.

What else do we have to talk about? It's the only bit of information we have about the future of the band. We aren't guaranteed any more tours or albums from the band or it's solo members. This is the one lead regarding the band's future that we seem to have some hard evidence pointing towards. And besides... this thread is a poll... the other one is just about speculation :D.

See, that's my issue,too.
I did buy a FM fanclub seat during SYW...but,IIRC, they did let you know a week or two in advance, where you were sitting and you had an option of rejecting the ticket.
I want full disclosure! And mainly because I'm kind of relentless with ticket searching and have been lucky enough to hit at the right time and get front row at face value. So, if I'm paying all that money for 10th row,and end up with front row...I'd be kicking myself forever. But, yes, stadiums would be a whole other story.
I'm just really not sure what I'd do if they go through with this. Frankly,at this point, I'm in disgruntled fan mode. But, sometimes, when that carrot is dangling RIGHT in front of me...I snap out of it quickly enough.

No.
A). Good seats be impossible to get and expensive. Not to mention we have to battle a whole other fan base.
B). Don Henley's ego. Didn't they even put up fences and barricades? Please.
C). The set list will be the unleashed set minus all the fun tracks (IKINW, SYLM, Storms, Sara ect) and they will add Leather and Lace, plus Stevie singing on Hotel California.

I think it's a great idea to have Fleetwood Mac & the Eagles out there, singing their old sets -- all their most commercial hits. Ticket prices will reflect demand, unless the promoters & bands are just plain stupid. And if there's one thing they've all learned since the 1970s, living the high-life, it's what to charge for their music & their lovely faces.
Another great idea would be for Fleetwood Mac to perform with Alicia Keyes & Jay-Z. They should segue "Empire State" into that "New York" song she does -- make it one big exciting medley suitable for the video music awards.
By the way, why aren't the video music awards called the video awards (or the music video awards)?

That's a good idea and Stevie can have her Illume in there too. I'd love to hear Jay-Z rapping about Point Dune.
Alicia might just be the piano they've been looking for since Christine left.

I really don´t care about Eagles at all, but I think It would be interesting to have something new, tour like this. I read on wikipedia that, that tour will be in USA and Europe next year. And this year were Eagles touring too - and they were in Prague in June!!! And Fleetwood Mac not !!! Maybe together, they will be here :D .
I finally found this year what´s best on this music - live concert!! Untill Berlin concert of Fleetwood Mac, whera I was, I wanted new stuff, new studio albums and many new songs... but now? I don´t care about new albums !! I want to have chance to see that super show live on my eyes a lot more than only once!!!!! Listening songs at home in my room is nothing compare to live concert! And with Eagles or without them... who cares :). It´s possibility to see Fleetwood Mac live in 2010 again. If they will not tour together, Fleetwood Mac will not probably tour alone next year. So I voted YES !!!!!!
I´m not one of you, who saw Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks live many times during all these years.... I saw it once, and that´s not enough!

Yep. Stadium tours- regardless of the artist(s) involved- are never about the diehard fans. Its all about selling as many tickets to casual fans & making as much money as possible while minimizing the workload (why play multiple nights at an arena when you can only work one night at a stadium? who cares if its hot/rainy outside & the fans can't see/hear the show!)

I'd rather them spend their time on working on a new album, much the way they have been talking about - starting one from the ground up and with an independent producer. Unlike Say You Will where they basically combined solo songs of SN and LB and slapped a Fleetwood Mac name tag on it.
I would like to see the Eagles eventually, but don't want them messing with our Mac time. And I don't want to pay $300 for the nosebleeds of some baseball stadium! NO THANKS!

I voted no.
But, it really depends on the alternatives. Would I go see the Eagles and FM? Sure, but obviously we'd all rather see a hundred things instead. Solo album and tour most of all. Buckingham Nicks, etc., etc...
But, if the alternative is retirement, then yes - obviously.

I finally feel compelled to give my answer to this thread.
No.
Each band is good in its own right. I like each band for different reasons. (But I certainly like FM more.)
However, I'd probably handle Fleetwood Mac with Roxy Music or Bryan Ferry solo, because I like them for rather similar reasons. (FM edges out Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music as my favourite band, but RM did my favourite album, "Avalon"... I think I'll listen to it now, in fact. :))
(More than this... you know there's nooothing... more than this... tell me ooone thing... more than this... oooh there is nooothing...)

I think the idea sucks.
Only would like it if somehow a 'Two Voices' theme could be expanded upon
(Stevie's brief 'Two Voices' tour w Don Henley, for those who missed it, was the best tour she has done since The Enchanted Tour, 1998.) It was beyond words to hear Stevie sing 'Hotel California' and have her excel so stunningly in her performance of it, ditto 'New York Minute' and even 'Last Worthless Evening'....The audience reaction to her lead vocals on HC (check youtube) I think were not only because she sounded spectacular, which she did, but because for a rare treat Stevie was singing a great song she has not sung to death a zillion times!
So, if the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac tour, I want to hear Stevie on lead on 'Take It To The Limit', 'Lyin Eyes', 'Heartache Tonight', 'Those Shoes', 'HC', 'Desperado' and 'Already Gone' --Lindsey can have 'Take It Easy', "Best of My Love" (just because I bet he hates the song so it can be a character-building thing), and 'Witchy Woman' and whatever other Eagles songs there are.... The Eagles can do Mac's songs, with Joe Walsh and Don Henley doing a 'Tusk' dance at the end of the song, Joe can sing lead (does he still sing lead?) on Dreams, and Don must change shawls and do a high kick on the false-ending of 'Stand Back'.
I actually hope for the first ever proper Stevie Nicks solo tour, soon. She MUST be told that not ONE Fleetwood Mac song may be performed doing her future solo concerts, or legal action will be taken against her by concert promoters and the other members of Fleetwood Mac. Stevie would then perform songs from each and every of her solo albums with at least two brand new songs and she may keep her set to 15 songs, with an intermission, if she needs one. But no more friggin 'Dreams', 'Landslide', 'GDW', 'Rhiannon' or any of the Mac songs she does on every solo tour and every Fleetwood Mac tour. So, go re-learn 'Wild Heart', 'Nothing Ever Changes', 'I Can't Wait', 'Long Way To Go', 'Doing The Best That I Can', 'Listen To The Rain', 'Candlebright', 'Fall From Grace' and do a full 'Sleeping Angel,' two new songs, and the rest can be 'Stand Back' and 'Edge' and whatever other solo staples she wants and needs.
Would I buy a ticket to Stevie and her many exes in Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles Ultimate Dinosour Tour? Sure!

Guys, I can understand the reluctance of hardcores to relinquish any of their favorite band's set to that of another, but I think this is a great opportunity for something special and different. Who'd have thought all those egos would fit on one stage together?
But egos are not what they once were. While it is true that Don Henley is infamous for his high opinion of himself and one doesn't get that kind of a reputation without earning it, he was able to swallow his pride and share the spotlight with Stevie Nicks on the Two Voices tour. I think this gives us reason to hope that he is better than he used to be. Yes, he tends to call out people from the stage for standing at what he deems to be inappropriate times (as he did in Chicago last year when some people stood during the acoustic set - his words to the people standing were "If we're sitting, you can sit too"), but perhaps he will ease up a bit in a stadium setting.
Likewise, Glenn Frey may at one time have been egocentric, but today he comes off as very down-to-earth and is always quick to lavish praise upon Henley, Walsh, and Schmit while downplaying his own role in the band. I believe in a relatively recent issue of Rolling Stone he stated that "Without Henley, the Eagles would be Air Supply." I admire his oft-demonstrated humility.
Lindsey may at one time have expressed disdain for the Eagles, but I think now he's ready to step down from that high horse and give them their professional due. As far as Stevie goes, her ego never got in the way of Eagle relations. ;)
In other words, if this comes together, it will be quite an event and one which I am eager to see take place.

Nancy, I think it took all those years off, for Glenn to realize that he was no longer the star(or boss) of the Eagles. Don's voice, had become, for the most part, THE voice of the Eagles. I'm sure that seeing Don's great solo success, compared to his own, helped further his acceptance, of Don's position.
The Eagles are clearly the bigger band...even Lindsey can't ignore that!
And yeah, now the the Eagles are a four piece, Stevie went from having slept with 40% of the band, to having slept with 50% of the band! Of course, Tim and Glenn might know more than they're letting on!

Ok I say 'Yes' because I am fans of both bands....though I would be totally surprised if this really happend for various reasons.....but it would be a nice shock. I probably wouldn't go because like someone already stated that the ticket prices would be like through the roof really. They already where for each band separately....and I didn't pay to see either this last yr.....so 'if' they do a short tour they better do a dvd of it cause it would be pretty rare. I'd be surprised if they'd sing each others songs.....I'd be shocked maybe at the end of each set they could all sing one song together or something but I don't think they'd mix it up that much. Both groups like to keep there setlists pretty much the same.....at least thats IMO....but just some thoughts.....anyway......not matter what happens or doesn't.....its all good right.....:nod:

But Glenn IS the boss of the Eagles. Glenn has the final say on all band touring, recording and other plans. If Glenn doesn't want to do something, it doesn't happen. Even Don has to acquiesce to Glenn's wishes. For example in 2005 when the band was doing their "California" tour and the dates extended to places outside of CA like Phoenix and Las Vegas Don suggested doing some shows in Dallas since his family hadn't seen them play. Glenn vetoed the idea because if they played in Dallas he couldn't sleep in his own bed.

hmmm... would I rather hear new music from the band that has consistently produced mind-blowing new albums over a period of almost 40 years, followed by a tour where they play said songs, along with some classics, and (hopefully) some rarities like Sisters of the Moon, Angel, and Not that Funny, reclaiming their artistic relevance, as well as gaining a new generation of fans
or... would I rather see them tour with another band, playing the same songs the same way they have since the syw tour, in a shortened set, sharing a bill with another band that did that for about ten years (hell freezes over to present) who on their own charge enough to bankrupt me for nosebleeds, and share my first mac concert with a bunch of drunk baby boomers trying to recapture the spirit of '77 and crying foul whenever mac or the eagles play a song that was NOT played to death on the radio?
the choice for me is pretty clear...

Glenn vetoed the idea because if they played in Dallas he couldn't sleep in his own bed.

www.eaglesfans.comI get that he is, but I dont understand how this can be possible since their is NO comparison between Glen and Don's solo careers. I mean Don's been doing stuff on his own since 1980. I'm somewhat vague on Glen's solo efforts, but I dont hink he's done anything of consequence since the mid 80's? SO how can Glen have more power within the band if he's had a far less prolific colo career?

It's not about their solo careers. Glenn started the band so it's his band. That's why he has the final say on all things Eagles.

While Don and Glenn both peaked popularity-wise in the eighties - Don's last Top 40 song was "The Heart of the Matter" from The End of the Innocence (1989), charting at #21, and Glenn's last Top 40 song was "True Love" from Soul Searchin' (1988) charting at #13 - Don is generally considered to be the bigger star. I think this is because Glenn's success was more song-oriented and Don's was more album-oriented. Plus, Glenn's biggest hits clustered around 1985/1986 whereas Don's were more spread out over the decade. However, in terms of chart numbers, Glenn had 6 Top 40 hits and Don had 7. In terms of how prolific each is, both have released 4 solo studio albums (not counting compilations). Therefore, the gap between their solo careers is nothing like the gap between the solo careers of Stevie and Lindsey, for instance.
Regarding the Eagles dynamic as a band, as HenleyFan said, it is considered "Glenn's band." It's similar to how Fleetwood Mac is considered "Mick's band" in that both men were originators. However, Glenn does not share Mick's desperate need for the machine to continue running. Therefore, Glenn does not consider it necessary to kowtow to Don or anyone else. He can take it or leave it.
The thing is, though, if Glenn leaves it, the band can't exist. It's like Fleetwood Mac without Stevie and Lindsey, except worse since he is the founder. Thus, the power dynamic is not based on public perception which is often distorted anyway, but upon the cause/effect of Glenn's unhappiness meaning the end of the band. Even Don doesn't want to see that cash cow die, so he sucks it up and defers to Glenn if they come to loggerheads over something. In this way, Don is more invested in the continuance of the band than Glenn is. If Don leaves, the band would cease to exist as well, but that doesn't seem to concern Glenn. That gives Glenn the upper hand.
In spite of this dynamic, I get the feeling that Don isn't constantly being stepped upon by Glenn and forced into concessions that he doesn't want to make. Just because Glenn has the "final say" doesn't mean that Don's opinion is disregarded. Glenn is always saying how much he respects Don professionally and he is the one who coaxed Don from the shadows and gave him the opportunity to shine. Don has expressed gratitude for that. I also believe that if Don truly felt Glenn was being egregiously unfair to him or bullying him just to get some ego gratification, Don would leave. I don't know Don Henley and have only met him once briefly, but I get the impression from his interviews that he doesn't feel completely unappreciated and that he wouldn't stand for it if he did.
Indeed, to the casual observer, Don seems far from unappreciated. As this thread shows, many people assume Don has more power than is actually the case. HomerMcVie - who's a pretty sharp guy - even assumed that Glenn's praise was motivated by Don having a more powerful position within the band. However, since Glenn does not need to lick Don's boots in order for the band to continue, there is no reason to believe Glenn is insincere in his lavish praise of Don. It should also be noted that Glenn, who makes the Eagles setlists, generously features Don's songs at the cost of his own. This is in spite of the fact that "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City" were bigger hits than any of Don's singles, according to the Billboard charts. Glenn obviously values Don a great deal and spotlights him because he wants to and believes it is in the band's best interests, not because he has to in order to keep the band going.
Glenn is the opposite of egotistical, from all evidence that I can see; yes, he is the boss of the band and asserts that authority if need be, but that is not necessarily ego-driven. Somebody has to have the last word, after all, on issues like whether or not their recent album Long Road Out of Eden should be released as a single or double disc. Glenn and Don disagreed about that, Glenn had the final say, and thus, it was a double album. Was Glenn's decision ego-driven or one he felt was best for the band? Well, that double album went to no. 1, so you be the judge. Conversely, without the "final say" element, the disagreement might have kept the album from getting released, period.
Glenn having final authority forwards the band's interests. I think Don realizes this and it enables him to accept the situation, even if he does sometimes grumble to the press a bit about the dictates of "Mr. Frey" when he doesn't get his way. (Don can sometimes get a big mouth around the press, like for instance spilling the beans about Stevie's abortion - ironic for the songwriter of "Dirty Laundry," eh? ;) )

Thanks.
But I DO think that partially what ended the Eagles after The Long Run, was that Glenn felt like he'd lost control of the band....at least in the sense of being the "star". I think Don(not intentionally) usurped the spotlight, and I think that rubbed Glenn, deeply, the wrong way. I think that's a big part of why he wanted to close shop.
I DO think Glenn's praise is heartfelt. I think he realizes that they would be Air Supply, without Don! And it probably took years for him to come to that conclusion.
On the same note, look at their singles. Artistically, and lyrically, can anyone say that The Heat is On, is even CLOSE, to The Heart of the Matter. HOTM is ART, and HIO is just air, IMO.
And I think once Glenn saw how Don really emerged as a serious(not air) solo artist, that he finally came to the conclusion, regarding Don's legacy to the Eagles.
Also, in terms of the setlist, I've read on Eagles boards, that the audiences take their pee breaks, during Glenn's solo songs.

Well, since he hasn't played any of his solo songs at Eagles shows for about five years, that surprises me. ;)
You gotta be careful when it comes to message boards. I've dabbled in message boards in both fandoms, even built a couple myself. I've found that some Eagles fans, like some Fleetwood Mac fans, can on occasion exaggerate the deficiencies of the members who are not their favorite or who they perceive to be in opposition to their favorite. All one need do is look at the Lindsey fans v. Stevie fans battles on here to get a taste of that. (See my sig!)

I don't particularly care to see FM on tour with the Eagles. Looks like its going to happen anyway though. I might could be a little more supportive of it if they were going to perform together...as in, come up with a combined setlist and just jam onstage...sort of make a kind of party out of it. Otherwise, I just can't get into this. Of course, I will go to see it just to see FM again if its possible...as in A) they come close to here, and B) if they don't charge a small fortune for just one ticket.

Hi all – I am a big Mac fan. I wouldn’t mind the notion of this joint tour as long as it was limited to just a few shows. I would probably go to one show if it is within a reasonable distance and the prices aren’t too exorbitant. But, like most of you, I would rather see my favorite band do a full show of their own rather than sharing the stage.
I am a life long hardcore Eagles fan, and an active poster on sodascouts’ Eagles message board, The Border (http://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/index.php). First of all, I want to say that I am very impressed with The Ledge and have been following your interesting posts regarding the possible FM/Eagles tour. Based on all this conversation about Glenn and Don, I wanted to weigh in here. I want to start off by saying that I don’t believe that any of us Eagles fans here actually “know” these men so I am only sharing my ‘somewhat informed' opinion. I believe that L&M have met Don Henley on several occasions, and Nancy and I have met Glenn Frey on several occasions. I think it is fair to say we are acquaintances, but do not know these men well enough to call them personal friends. I think it is also fair to say that we each have our biases about them. Additionally, I think it is fair to say that both of these men had VERY healthy egos when they were younger, and they may still have them, although they both seem to have mellowed over the years. However, I believe it would be unfair and misleading for me to say whose ego is bigger, especially given the fact that I’ve never met Don.
I agree with what Nancy said about the Eagles dynamics and how different they are from Fleetwood Mac. As far as Don being a bigger star than Glenn, I think that Don may be perceived as a bigger solo star, but as Nancy pointed out, in many ways that is a myth. Glenn was pretty darn successful in his own right. With regard to the Eagles, the truth is that Glenn has had every bit as much success as Don. For anyone interested, I can give you all kinds of facts to back this up in addition to what Nancy has already cited. Glenn was the original impetus behind the Eagles. He was also the band’s bigger star in the early ‘70’s, and Don in the latter part of the decade. After the band’s resumption in 1994, I believe that the two men share pretty equally in both the successes and responsibilities of the band. However, when ‘push comes to shove’, Glenn does apparently have the final word. Like Nancy, I believe this ‘power’ stems from the fact that Glenn seems to be less invested and willing to put up with a lot of drama just for the sake of keeping the Eagles afloat. He has pursued many other interests outside of his music and does seem to have more of a “take it or leave it” attitude. The way I see it, after Glenn disbanded the Eagles in 1980, the man has just never been willing to totally sacrifice his personal happiness for a music career. Some of you may call that a man with a big ego, but I call it a man that has his priorities straight. Did his music career suffer because of this attitude – I imagine it did … but I’m thinking his healthy ego is fine with that and I’m pretty sure his checkbook is as well. ;)

I haven't been here for a while, so I've just noticed this topic. All I can say is that for all who were negative towards the Unleashed set list, FM's song choices on this possible tour are going to be even more status-quo. I reallllly don't want this tour to happen, to be honest. We'll most likely just be getting a 90 minute set, half of which will be rumours and I think we can all fill in the blanks as to the rest of the material. I don't think I'd make it out to this tour (course if there happen to be any cheap tickets I may). But if I'm going to pay the big bucks I'd rather see FM on their own...at least they are entertaining when they perform! I really enjoyed it! Don painted himself a little too saintly, IMO(but then who doesn't?). I've read it three times since I got it. Henley and Frey both get painted pretty badly, but Tim and Joe come across as both being nice guys.
And as much as Felder's my favorite member, I just can't believe that he wasn't a pain in the ass. If he weren't, I'm sure they wouldn't have fired him. Also, given that Henley offered Felder(I hate having two Dons, always having to use their last names) a place in his solo band, I think 90% of the tension was between Frey and Felder. I think Glenn HATED him.

Sounds like a cool convo. Good for Stevie not wanting this whole thing to go through. I'm sure she has her personal reasons for not wanting it. For me it just seems like such an obvious cash grab. Also, I find it a little strange that Lindsey is cool with it...unless he's totally two-faced lol. Just that while promoting and touring with his solo stuff he's always saying how much he prefers his more artistic outputs, yada yada...and a joint tour with the eagles at this point in both bands careers is anything but 'artistic'. Mick and John I think just want to play which I'm totally OK with...though I'm sure the money is big for them too. Just seems odd that Lindsey wouldn't mind being put into this situation...and btw I'm not trying to rag on Linds cause I'm a huge fan of his...

Hmm. I honestly don't believe in astrology at all. That being said, I shall now contradict myself. It's fun, sometimes.
This idea was presented to Stevie at the worst possible time. I was born under the sign of Gemini. Back to the beginning, before my salvation, I might have said... 'Don't ever f***ng ask a Gemini in the throes of exhaustion to f***ing do anything, the answer will always be no!' Just because of a need to be left the f*** alone for a couple of days to recharge and regain your own equilibrium, to not think about work, having to leave home again, business, men, 4 men all at the same time come summer, or anything.
A tired Gemini like Stevie at the end of the Unleashed Tour must have been trying to gain the emotional energy and physical strength to just get the f*** home. To be left alone to sleep in her own bed. The Unleashed Tour still had about a week to go (or had just ended) when this topic came up. She was all Landslided out, all Rhiannoned out :)
Who isn't?
She wanted her home, her shower, to toss some Yorkie treats on the floor, see her Mother and have a nice Christmas. She wanted not have to think about boots.
I think if the rest of the band wants the Eagles spot, and they give Stevie even a few days (well, make it about 6 days) to decompress and figure out whether she wants new extensions, frizzy f*cky or silky straight, roots done in Shade 9A or 8B, parted down the middle or the side, to bangs or not to bangs, that she will realize that, oh yes, she wants it. She loves the prestige of the huge touring dollars she has earned ever since The Dance reunion of '97. It's the priority of her career, in my opinion. It's also uniquely hers. Few, if any, women rock singers have had the kind of touring revenue Stevie has enjoyed for so many years, almost annually, since '97. She still gets her price. Think of her contemporaries: Ann and Nancy Wilson, Pat Benatar, Deb Harry, or even Melissa Etheridge, Annie Lennox, on and on...none of them command $200,000 a night just to show up and do as little or as much as she pleases.
Give the old girl a break! She probably just wanted to finish what she was doing, knowing there's more on the horizon, but not needing to hear about it until she'd processed internally the work that she was just then completing.
I personally feel LB will be the one to say 'No' if it indeed doesn't happen with The Eagles this summer. We'll see.
Who cares :)

I seriously doubt that Glenn Frey gets the finally word on all things Eagle or is more concerned about sleeping in his own bed than making a buck. LOL:lol: That observation doesn't make a bit of sense as to why they wouldn't extend the California tour. Remember the California Tour of 2005 also included 3 shows in the Hawaiian islands. And, BTW don't believe everything you read on the net as being the absolute gospel. FYI that board you keep making reference to is run by fans and not the Eagles. Anyway my point is: Henley and Frey run the show-jointly and wouldn't let minor issues (like where they sleep) factor into the mix.
As for a joint tour: I would love to see the MAC team up with the Eagles but it probably won't happen. BTW the MAC out-grossed the Eagles last year when it came to tour revenues and the Eagles charged more per ticket-especially those VIP packages. So if they did tour the MAC would be the headliners.

And, by the way, Fleetwood Mac played 26 more shows than Eagles last year. I'm also sure the average gross per-show exceeded FM, despite the fact that Eagles played primarily secondary markets in North America in 2009, having hit the most lucrative markets/multi-night stands when their tour started in Fall 2008.
and the Eagles charged more per ticket-especially those VIP packages. So if they did tour the MAC would be the headliners.
So the act that charges (and gets) more for the same seat in the same venue takes a back seat to the act that charges less and sells far fewer tickets. Right.
I'm honestly perplexed by your points and arguments, to say the least.

So the act that charges (and gets) more for the same seat in the same venue takes a back seat to the act that charges less and sells far fewer tickets. Right.
I'm honestly perplexed by your points and arguments, to say the least.
While I agree that the Eagles can get more bums and more $$ per bum in the seats, I don't think that alone will automatically decide the opener/closer slot on this tour (if it ever happens). This is because the opener/closer slot is not going to faze or otherwise deter any fans who want to see this double bill. The fact of the matter is that these are two immensely popular bands with legitimate arena-sized pulling power. Everyone is going to fetch the same (or comparable) nightly guarantees. Ultimately it's going to be about who wants this double bill more badly- Don and Glenn vs. Mick and Stevie. Neither band is necessarily in the position of needing money desperately (I am assuming) and neither band has any new material that needs to be plugged to a large audience. Admittedly I know next-to-nothing about the Eagles, but from what I can tell, this is probably the Eagles last hurrah, especially since Don has in so many words said that LROOE was their final album. However, in Cher and KISS fashion, their farewell tour is going to go and on until the tank is fully dried up. Accordingly, the Eagles should have more of an interest in making this happen- it is basically their last opportunity to make a killing. By contrast, FM is still considered an ongoing concern. And in the case of Stevie, she has a huge solo career that leaves everybody else's solo careers in the dust. Since Stevie has not announced her retirement, and she has ample opportunity to make money in the future, I think she is going to be the one who makes or breaks this arrangement. And from what we've heard via the rumour mill, Mama is not exactly thrilled with this double bill. My suspicion is that she is not going to easily accept the stigma of being an opening act. Either they pay her a ****load more money (not likely), or the Eagles open up (more likely). Alternating the opener/closer may be a workable compromise as well. Otherwise, it's not going to happen.
I'm not crazy about this idea unless they really do stuff together onstage. I'd especially love to see Joe Walsh playing on "Gold Dust Woman" while Stevie glares at him during the line "Lousy lovers pick their prey..." He needs payback for the nasty things he said on Howard Stern...

It would be a cool tour but I checked no on the poll rather see them seperate but I am sure the tickets will be high for the floor my guess would be around $350 for the top ticket and lowest price would be $150 and that would be ticketmaster prices not scalper and all access prices if they use all access.it would be cool to see them if they both do full sets each like if they do full 2 and half hours each it would be worth it to go to the show.

This was actually back from Howard's "terrestrial radio" days. When questioned about Stevie, I think Joe basically called her a "road f**k." Pretty harsh!

Joe was a real jerk to Stevie back in the day, true. However, that Howard Stern radio bit and Joe's open mockery of Stevie during his live shows were almost 20 years ago. Joe is now sober and much more mature, so I think we should give him a break. She certainly doesn't seem to hold a grudge, since she gushes over their "Great Love" every chance she gets!

I still think there is something that doesn't ring true about all that stuff she says about him. I'm very interested in these rumors that its Stevie who doesn't want to do this. When it was first mentioned I just knew she would be all for it and Lindsey would be against it. I'd love to have more concrete information about it

Noo, this would be a bad idea imo.
Throughout summer 2009, Blondie toured with Pat Benatar and it resulted in harsh comparisons between the talent and looks of Pat and Debbie Harry. Both sets got cut short (Blondie only having 45 mins to 1 hour at some venues) and bland sets.
I'm yet to see FM in concert and if my only option was to see the with the Eagles, I'd be hard pushed to buy a ticket. I'd rather wait and spend that moey and time with other fans of just FM rather than a mixed audience who may not like both acts.

Stevie does seem to change stories regarding her "great love" but maybe it's not so much hiding the truth as her changing mood. I seem to recall one interview where, after listening to Stevie rhapsodize about Joe as the love of her life, the interviewer responded with something like "But you've said in the past Lindsey Buckingham is the love of your life" and Stevie had to do some fast dancing. lol
I don't for a moment believe she would have "given up her career" for Joe Walsh as she has claimed in the past. She is too used to being THE Stevie Nicks to happily discard fame for a life as Mrs. Joe Walsh. Plus, Joe's pre-Eagles reunion income, unsupported by her touring revenues and album sales, would not have been enough to maintain the lifestyle to which she had become accustomed. ;)

First of all, hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.
With regard who goes first if this tour happens, I'm thinking that it would probably be FM. When the talk first started, I thought maybe that the two bands could alternate. However, I don't know if that is practicle or not. Not sure about FM, but the Eagles are VERY structured with their shows, and I'm not sure that they would want to do the switching back and forth thing. But, even if FM does go first, the tour would be marketed as a double bill - not an opening act.
Now, I want to comment on some earlier remarks in the thread regarding the dynamics between Glenn and Don. Sorry for the delayed response, but I was on a holiday break. ;)
Homer, I partially agree with you here. But I also believe at that time that Glenn felt like he was continuously subordinating himself in order to appease everyone else in the band, but to no avail. The problems between Don and Glenn really surfaced after the success of Hotel California largely because, by Don’s own admission, his ego became out of control. In fairness though, by that time, pretty much everyone in the band was out of control. It’s just that the band ultimately could not withstand the strained relationship between Don and Glenn.
I DO think Glenn's praise is heartfelt. I think he realizes that they would be Air Supply, without Don! And it probably took years for him to come to that conclusion.
Okay – now I’m about to have one of my mini-rants. ;) I have to totally disagree with this statement, and was very upset at the time Glenn said this. To me, he really devalued himself and his other band mates with this remark. Not to take a thing away from Don, but let’s just say that any band where Joe Walsh has to take a back seat is pretty loaded with talent. Timothy B. Schmit isn’t exactly minced meat either. There is no question about it, Don is an incredible talent and, to his credit, established himself as a superstar. But, I think it upsets a lot of Eagles fans the way some people cultivate the myth that the Eagles are Don Henley and some back up guys. Glenn’s comments just added fuel to this mindset, IMO. He could have paid a compliment to one band mate without undermining or insulting the others. The Eagles are what they are because of the combined talents, contributions, and chemistry of all four members. If that were not the case, Henley would be just as successful as a solo artist, and wouldn’t need the others.
On the same note, look at their singles. Artistically, and lyrically, can anyone say that The Heat is On, is even CLOSE, to The Heart of the Matter. HOTM is ART, and HIO is just air, IMO.
I really don’t agree with this statement either. The Heat Is On may not be a lyrical masterpiece, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great song. It is one of the most recognizable songs from the ‘80’s and has become an anthem for weather stations and sporting events everywhere. Again, I’m not taking anything away from Don’s solo work here, and I know it’s inevitable for people to compare Don and Glenn’s solo careers. But the comparison should be fair and not based on public misconceptions. While I agree Don was overall more successful because of a few masterful songs, Glenn actually had a very respectful solo career that stands up very favorably with Don’s as Nancy cited earlier in this thread. Songs like You Belong To the City, Smuggler’s Blues, and Part of Me, Part of You are also great songs to name a few.
P.S. Glenn’s last and best studio album, Strange Weather, released in 1992, didn’t meet with much commercial success, which was unfortunate because it really is a great album.
I would agree with your first statement to the extent that Glenn slowly came to realize Don’s contribution and significance to the band, but I think that was true for everyone, including Don. However, I’ve been to quite a few Eagles’ concerts and I personally never saw anyone take a pee break during Glenn’s songs. As a matter of fact YBTTC used to receive a huge audience reception – it was one of the highlights of the shows that I attended where it was played.
Now, I know some people here may think Eagles shows are boring and I agree that there is definitely not a lot of showmanship. However, for those of us who love their music, these shows are hardly boring. Even though they primarily perform song after song without a lot of antics, I think they are masterfully well-paced and performed with a lot of heart, soul, and energy.
I really don’t agree with this statement either. The Heat Is On may not be a lyrical masterpiece, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great song. I think for me, at least, the difference is longevity in their solo careers. Glenn had some big hits in the eighties, no doubt, but I don't think they've aged as well as Don's solo work. The Heart of the Matter still greatly resonates with me along with the End of the Innocence and Boys of Summer. The Heat is On and You belong to the City just scream 80's production. Sax solos will do that. ;) Plus whenever I hear The Heat is On I think of this SNL skit:

Well, I hope they pull an "EaglesMac" for the encore of these joint shows. In fact, the idea makes me salivate.
I am really just staggered at the vehemence - and downright virulence - of some of this negativity, not only here but in the other thread dealing with this topic. Some people are acting like this tour is an affront to them as fans. That kind of attitude is simply ridiculous.
We saw Fleetwood Mac on the Unleashed tour (Well, at least, some of us did). I saw the Mac in both Pittsburgh and New Orleans and they rocked. Now, we get to see them do a joint tour with the Eagles if we wish. Variety is the spice of life! What's the alternative - more of the same Unleashed shows? Been there, done that. It's about time they shook things up a bit, if you ask me.
Don't say that this will keep them from doing a new album. That's BS. If they want to do a new album, a handful of dates over a couple months is not going to stop that.
For those that prefer that Fleetwood Mac retire rather than play with the Eagles... well, that's your opinion, but I for one would rather enjoy my favorite band on the stage even for an abbreviated set of hits than never see them at all. If you don't want to go, stay home. Nobody's holding a gun to your head.
There will be a time when these folks can't tour anymore. Let's enjoy it while we can rather than getting all up in arms over the fact that they might share the spotlight with another band.
In the end, it's just a few shows, folks. LIGHTEN UP!

^^^Yeah, no kidding!
'Scuse me all, my computer hasn't worked properly for the better part of a year and I haven't been in the loop *at all* (not to mention being lurker-status'd for a long time here, so none of y'all probably care what I have to say), so I don't know how real/certain any of this is... But I agree: the idea *definitely* makes me salivate!
And I also remember coming out of lurkerdom during the Stevie/Don tour for the exact same reason: total disbelief as to the level of meanness coming out of everyone. Don't like it? Don't go!!! Like one and not the other? Find out who's playing when, and skip the set of the band you don't like. Plenty of people did that at the Stevie/Don shows, and it worked out just fine. Ticket prices would likely be pretty much in line with seeing either band on their own, IMO (maybe $200-250 instead of the $150 they've lately been topping out at). Think about it: logically speaking, they're guaranteed to sell out every single show, resulting in huge profits and also marketing for both bands (someone comes to see the Mac, falls in love with an Eagles tune, decides to check out their albums...I know people who weren't Don fans before he toured with Stevie). Push tickets up to $500 a pop, though, and they won't sell as well. Tour with huge potential turns into massive flop, poor press, poor everything for *both* bands. Both bands have some seriously business-minded members, to say the least...nobody wants a flop. I paid less than $100 US for floor seats to both Stevie/Don shows I saw...both of whom charge that much for their own solo shows. And it was a limited tour. I'm pretty sure this would be the same sort of thing...a few exclusive shows. Thassit. Easy to ignore, if you're so inclined.
I'd rather see *any* of 'em play a solo show any day than more of these big arena shows. That's my own opinion. But I've seen both bands live several times, and my Lord they are *amazing*. I'm definitely guilty of wanting "the ideal" at every show I see...and I've damn near missed out on some pretty spectacular shows, for petty things like poor seats or a bad mood. I've learned two things the hard way in the process: One, negativity has no place anywhere near a concert. Go or don't, enjoy it or not, have an opinion, but don't be ridiculous and take others down with you. Two, it's really, *really* worth it to just go to the show and have a good time. This has applied to every show I've gone to in a bad mood, a crappy seat, with a busted leg, with an ex-boyfriend who insisted on putting Lindsey down the whole time...well, you get the idea. :) Just sit back, relax, enjoy the show, and be happy you get to see your favorite band live.
And if you can't do that, don't go, and don't let the fact that *others* might *want* to go concern you.
Take it easy, and if you can't, feel free to go your own way. In the long run, really, that's alright.
(Sorry, I couldn't help it...on that note, back to lurkerdom I go!)

I have seen both bands several times. They are both great in concert. Of course, my favorite band is the Mac, so I partial to the them. Therefore, I'm selfishly going to say that I only want to hear the Mac. When I'm in the mood for the Eagles, I'll go see the Eagles. If you put these two "supergroups" together, you aren't going to be satisfied with either of their sets. They both have too many great songs to try to cover during the time they would each be given.

@ Nancy: I don't think it's an 'affront' to the fans, I just think it's disappointing and kind of a sellout on FM's part, especially if it's Lindsey greenlighting it. unless by some chance LB wants to resolve his demons and unite with the Eagles, which I don't know, still doesn't quite ring with me.
It just feels like hypocrisy of the highest order and FM's biggest sellout. Imagine Stevie solo touring with Lindsey Lohan after her comments about her, it's kind of how I feel about Lindsey/FM touring with with the Eagles with Tusk/The Long Run in the background somewhere.
That's not to say it won't be entertaining and there won't be a new album, etc, the very idea just grates on me, that's all. A double billing of two bands such as these (as big as these) just screams cash grab with no real up side, unless you're rich of course. Combine that with the Lindsey/Eagles deal and I have a bitter taste in my mouth.

I mostly agree... but for the sake of playing devil's advocate, how would you feel if The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were the headliners of a traveling music festival, e.g., Lollapalooza? It's still Eagles and FM on the same bill playing abbreviated, hits-populated sets. I don't think anyone accused the participants of Lollapalooza of going on a shameless cash-grab. And speaking of rivals touring together, what about that Sammy Hagar-David Lee Roth tour several years ago? Admittedly, that's nowhere close to the same magnitude as this, but it's still about two rivals playing the pipes of peace to make bank. I don't think people thought it was crassly commercial, as much as they were puzzled and curious to see these rivals share the same bill. I think Eagles-FM would get a lot less flack if they somehow managed to get together with a sense of purpose- whether it is a musical purpose (i.e., collaborating on stage), a political purpose (donating ##% to causes), or a promotional purpose (touring with younger, more obscure acts and/or promoting new albums). Otherwise they are going to get hammered in the press.
I think the recent silence on this tour is deafening... I suspect that the logistics and negotiations (with umpteen different managers?) are proving to be prohibitively complicated. Now that everyone is off the road and no longer jetlagged or otherwise mentally impaired, they are looking at the sober reality of trying to make this all work.

I don't think people thought it was crassly commercial, as much as they were puzzled and curious to see these rivals share the same bill.I still say that Eagles & Mac co-billed (as headliner & support) in 1976 more than the one show the current press release refers to.
I think Eagles-FM would get a lot less flack if they somehow managed to get together with a sense of purpose- whether it is a musical purpose (i.e., collaborating on stage), a political purpose (donating ##% to causes), And Stevie & Lindsey have done all that with Eagles boys in the past, including "Building the Perfect Beast," "Bella Donna," the Two Tired Voices tour, the Irvine benefit for medical research, the Mulholland benefit, & the environment benefit in Long Beach.

Hey Bree! I knew you would be with me on this. What's up? Still got that pink coat? ;)
- Spike
It's true that Lindsey has razzed on the Eagles a couple times in the past, but maybe he's mature enough to get over it and realize that Fleetwood Mac criticizing the Eagles for being greedy is the definition of hypocrisy. I adore Lindsey, but his comment that the Eagles reunited just for the money whereas Fleetwood Mac reunited solely to obtain "bittersweet" emotional closure smelled a little like BS to me. His comment that Fleetwood Mac was more of a "band" than the Eagles downright confused me. I guess he meant more of a cohesive unit? Who knows.
Why is Lindsey touring with a group he's occasionally dissed any more of a sellout than Lindsey touring without a new album, something in the past he swore up and down he'd never do... and criticized others for doing?
Maybe Lindsey has gotten a little perspective. He was able to work with Henley in 1985 on a song, and while he dissed the Eagles as recently as the Say You Will promotional interviews, nothing he said was too awful. It was just a slight jab here and there. Heck, he's currently working with a woman who's said quite a few not-so-nice things about him... her name is Ms. Stevie Nicks.
I'm far from rich, but I see a very clear upside: Two terrific groups performing on the same bill to give us one great night of entertainment.

The silence concerns me too - I don't want to get my hopes up just to have them dashed. However, seeing items in magazines like Rolling Stone about the tour encourages me.
As far as managers go, I believe both acts are currently managed by Irving Azoff.

Thanks for the heads-up! I think the blurb should be clarified (and put into context). The poster's writing is a bit unclear, but I think the "they" in they are going out in the summer refers to The Eagles, not FM. At least that is my interpretation.

I just listened and this is what he said, word for word:
Simon Mayo: "There was talk of The Eagles doing a stadium tour with Fleetwood Mac this year. Is there any chance of that happening?"
Timothy: "Well, erm, I just emailed our manager this morning and asked him that question - what we were doing during this summer and I didn't specifically ask him that but he did, he told me about that and it appears that that is not happening. So all these big rumours are just simply rumours. I think that it was being pursued for a while, that was the reality, but I don't think it's gonna happen. But I think we are still going to go out this summer but I'm not exactly sure with who or with anybody."
Simon Mayo: "So there's a chance The Eagles might be touring with another band?"
Timothy: "I think so, I think it's all up in the air at the moment. We are playing by ourselves, just us, during the Spring. We're starting at the Hollywood Bowl in April and we're gonna do a handful of shows and then we're going to take a break to probably mid-summer. I don't know what that schedule is yet."

This is how I feel about it, too. I think it would be selling out to the nth degree and that it will hurt both groups 'in the long run' (pun intended). I have no problem with the Eagles. I have most of their albums. I really enjoy Glenn Frey. I would not mind seeing them in concert. I just think that a tour together would spell disaster. Casual fans would lose respect for Fleetwood Mac if they lower themselves to an 'opening band'. It would make Fleetwood Mac seem very desperate. Hopefully, it isn't going to happen. I'm glad, because I feel it would have been a big mistake. It's one thing for LB to play on Don Henley's album. It's quite another to be his band's opening act.

Outside producers... Lindsey... Hell, John can be producer so it can turn into a blues jam album and he can finally be happy with how loud his bass is. I don't care as long as we get something.
Actually, I'd not half mind that Blues jam idea. :D

Looks like all they did was have some preliminary discussions and held dates at some stadiums (something that needs to be planned far in advance, especially baseball stadiums- not necessarily a sign the date would ever happen). Never has there been so much discussion centered around a single (planted) story.

Honestly, i don't even think the Eagles or the Mac knew about this rumor. It was most likely a management decision to release the speculation of a joint tour to obtain press, which they did, successfully.

Well, in those cases, we had actual published quotes from the relevant principals. Of course, its not like a quote from Azoff in the LiveDaily blurb would have set the news world on fire.

And for all we know, that may have not have even happened. Although I am a Mac fan, I haven't followed them that closely so I don't know how they operate. However, one thing I have learned about being an Eagles fan is not to believe anything you hear until you have an official announcement. Time and time again, there is often misinformation and unreliable sources. Hell - half the time even the band members don't know what's going on. ;)
Anyway, as I said earlier in this thread, I have mixed feelings about this. I think it would have been really cool to have seen the two bands on the same stage, especially if there had been an encore where they shared the stage. But, in the end, I think I would rather spend my money on seeing them perform a full set on their own.

There's a saying in Eagles circles (and I think we've said it here before) that nothing is a fact in Eagleland until it is.
Like you said, they were holding stadiums (as we heard from a quite reliable source). Our guess right now is that....
The deal fell through for whatever reasons. Heard a few days ago about some of the dates the Eagles are planning for the west coast this summer and it just didn't make sense that they'd do the Mac dates and these other ones in the same general area.
or....
The deal is still on and Timothy was told to downplay it. His actual quote about calling Azoff is interesting. This wouldn't be the first time that a member of the band has denied something knowing full well that it was actually happening.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They've yet to play anywhere in Northern California on their '08-'09-'10 tour; I wouldn't be surprised if they used that SF/AT&T Park date originally held for the double bill for themselves.

Rumours Redux. Never saw it happening myself as there were just too many egos "too busy trying to be fabulous" to deal with. Would have been nice though. As I pointed out before, chat forums and even legit-media sources seldom know the inside story although a lot of them claim to. Go figure. Gossip/Rumours seem to be the coin of the realm when it comes to appearing to "know" a/the rock stars. Now we have it straight from the source.

All I said was I never thought that a MAC/Eagles tour would, in the final analysis, happen and that fan-based chat forums and the legit media are full of fans/writers who want to "appear" to have inside info-for a variety of reasons (thus coin of the realm.) And, I stand by the observation.
Also, for the record, in my post, I did not bash (to attack or abuse with words) anyone (fan/chat-forum or writer) in particular so I have no idea what "us" you are referring to in your reply and I also never said the "Stadium Seventies Super-Group Tour" was never internally "discussed." But, if you think that I implied that the principles involved did not "discuss" their tour intentions with outsiders (non-band members) then yes you are absolutely right. Why would they? Seriously.

Well, in this case, there doesn’t seem to be any dispute that there were some discussions about this tour as originally reported in the LiveDaily article last month. But I agree that, in general, we should be suspect of anyone who claims to have reliable inside information about the Eagles.
As someone who is very anal, I have kinda been “keeping track” of all of the information, rumors, and speculation, etc. that has circulated around the Eagles’ internet fan community for the past several years. You know – the kind of things like whenever fans say that they have information from a “reliable” source, or a source “close to the band”, or a band “insider”. The truth is that over 95% of the time, that type of “information” turns out to be incorrect. That has led me to conclude that there is no such thing as a reliable source for Eagles information. Unless or until, I hear it directly from the band’s management or an official announcement is made, I am reluctant to trust anything I hear. As I said earlier, even some of the band members themselves have given out “misinformation” on more than one occasion. Those who think they know what’s going on with the band, including those “insiders”, are just kidding themselves, IMHO. Now, I hope this doesn’t get interpreted as an attempt to bash anyone because that is not the intent – it’s just my general observation as I see it based on past experience.

We've had many emails over the years from DJs who've visited our Eagles site so, yes, they do surf the web and get info from fan sites and forums. We've also heard things from our site come up in interviews with band members so DJs must also use fan sites for background info.
There's also a news service called Rock Daily that stations can subscribe to for rock news. They scour the Internet and assemble the headlines for stations. They've picked up many things from our site over the years. After some prodding from a friend at Eagles Mgmt. they even started linking back to our site, which was cool.
So, yeah, DJs definitely use the Internet to get their news. I'm sure this site is used for FM news.
