I thought it was great! What don't you like about it? The way he's drawn it out?

It soooooo slow, like... slow motion. Awful.

He was playing it fab on the Say You Will tour...

No you're not. Probably the only song I hate live. It's a bummer because it's one of all time favorite Mac songs.

Yeah I saw a clip of it on YouTube and it seemed like he was struggling with keeping the "new" tempo... I just kinda twitched a little afterwards and said "no.. .that's not right"

The song itself sounded ok last month, but the intro to it was completely foreign to me. For a second I thought the band had suffered a collective nervous breakdown and was actually going to play a new song.

If Fritz had cared that Stevie was in college and given her ample time off to study, she would probably be a lot smarter. So, any mental shortcomings she has is that band's fault.

I love that she explained that Junior and Senior meant 11th and 12th years for you guys.

She modestly says that after opening for all the big names she and Lindsey were able to walk into FM with "just a little bit of confidence," but I think she really means that they were able to walk in and blow the doors off the joint.

She didn't on the first night. She may have been briefed by the promoter, because the slight modifications helped get more cheering to the bits she was used to having cheering. Sometimes if an audience doesn't quite get what's said, it can throw them into a state of thinking for a few seconds rather than reacting.

I love these recordings - thanks so much StreetAngel86!

It's one thing to prattle on in front of Anglophones, but I wonder what the Dutch, German Swedish, Danish and French audiences thought of her rambling monologues. I suspect they just kind of stared at her puzzlingly and just kind of nodded like, "okay... I think we're supposed to clap now..."

Oh my goodness. What about Lindsey's speeches, filled with psychological probing. Those could not possibly translate well.

But maybe things have improved a little over time. Remember how everyone was silent for Sardonic World in the United States. What if he'd tried whipping that out to international audiences? How painful.

Def one of the few times I've felt let down by a Buckingham arrangement. :sorry:

I wonder if it's coz i'm not first and foremost an LB fan?
maybe i'm a bit less critical of his work :D
i just liked that it was different
coz compared to SYW, this whole show is just infinitely BETTER
it's hard to be critical

Ooh, and I don't know about that. Is this song really supposed to be sexy ??

don't know that it's SUPPOSED to be
and i dont think the song in general is sexy
but the way i heard it last week... yes. yes it was sexy
it's slowed down, so it's teasy.
never mind where my head was at...
they could have just been standing there speaking the lyrics
with no instrumental backdrop and that would have been fine too

I'm not first and foremost a Buckingham fan. I'm first and foremost a Fleetwood Mac fan. Buckingham comes 2nd with Nicks a very close 3rd. ;)

I'm wouldn't say I'm very critical of his work either... he is my favorite guitar player, yes, but I was more surprised at myself for disliking his current arrangement of NGBA. I will have to respectfully disagree that the current tour version of the song is "infinitely better" than the SYW version (or any of the previous tours) ;)

When they got into the song, after the new intro, I didn't notice that the vocals for NGBA had changed much from previous versions. But if they have and if they whisper to each other now the way they were doing on Say Goodbye live, then that's a turn off.

I really like the whispering on this song now - especially when Stevie is matching him on it. I would say that is sexy...

But, what I really enjoyed was watching it - Stevie doing her hiding in the shadows thing while he was singing. I felt like I was watching some dramatic play for sure. I loved it! I have to admit, I laughed out loud which was I'm sure totally inappropriate for the mood they were trying to create and convey but I was giddy with artistic appreciation - what can I say? :]

that's so funny i like watching Stevie too when she's not doing anything
though actually, this is the first time i really paid attention to Lindsey on Lindsey songs etc. very different.

tho the audience was cheering and all stupid in the dumbest of places
and i wanted to yell STFU im TRYING to watch this performance  this and Gypsy were the only songs i sat down for and WATCHED for the sake of watching.

i will shut up about this now.
no1s going to change my mind about it
and if you don't like it, that's fine too. go watch SYW

Ok, I'm back from a fresh listen. I must have blocked that out. I didn't remember that it was the most annoying thing I'd ever heard. He's not even singing tbe verses. It's not that I don't think he's sexy when he's whispering and such (the Mirage DVD's NTF rocks) but this is like nails on a chalkboard waiting for him to finish a doggone sentence. What a freak.

As for Stevie, well she did a little paintbrush thing for him for Peacekeeper during the SYW tour. It's about time she offered up a little more choreography. She probably dreamed up those moves to keep her mind off of how badly the song was going.

But the audience seemed to like it and that's all that matters. LB need never concern himself with my suffering. The feeling remains even after the NGBA glitter fades.

I think that was the point I was trying to make earlier and didn't know how to say it. That song, Never Going Back, is the wrong song to create that kind of mood I think... They have other songs for that. ;)

yeah no kidding

however...
whilst Lindsey is doing his guitarbation on GDW
i wouldnt be opposed to seeing Stevie shimmying up and down his back
and then instead of her POSE at the end she could do a burlesque style dance around lindsey and a chair with her shawl :wavey::laugh:

why cant Stevie invite Linds under her shawl

Is this drama really just about seeing Lindsey and Stevie gettin' it on, on stage, AGAIN? Come on, doesn't anyone like FM for the music anymore :(

Oh, and for the umpteenth time, Michele, you rock.

NGBA is my favourite FM song and I love the fact there are so many versions out there, slow, fast, even the demos on the extended Rumours album.
I actually love the new little guitar part Lindsey starts with, it's atmospheric.
But, each to their own. My only concern with the way they sing it now, is that Lindsey's voice isn't really strong enough for it.

I think the best version of NGBA again is the Rumours 5.1 version.
