So I've been offered the swine flu injection.
I am going for it, but I am 80% - 90% sure and after being stupid and reading/"researching" about the jab on the (evil) internet, I am now 10% - 15% unsure. I guess I am quite nervous about it now as well.
I was just wondering if anyone else has so far had the jab? How are you feeling now? Any side affects?
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance, lol.
I will be going to have it regardless, at the end of the day I'd rather not risk getting swine flu.

My 15 month old daughter had the vaccine (via injection) with no problems/repercussions. I wish I could get it; one of my co-workers is home with H1N1 right now.

I'm not worried. I've already been exposed to it and never got sick. BTW I'm not allowed to get sick. If you get the shot and start walking backwards then you'll know it was a mistake...

I was on the fence with this as well.At first I was willing to roll the dice and hope for the best, but I wound up getting the injection 3 weeks ago. Everyone in the office/practice did it, so I decided to go with the flow. No side affects, feeling good.:)

FYI, there is beaucoup published evidence that H1N1 has already peaked & is declining.

I thought they were giving it out to people/childrens carers as well... Or maybe it's just people with long term illnesses
Thanks for everyones replies, I should have learnt by now not to search for horror stories on the internet, lol.

I had a seasonal flu shot (first time for me) but not an H1N1 shot. I can't find one anywhere! There aren't even enough for the pregnant women & children.
So while that annoying, attention-loving Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN keeps telling everyone to get the shot, I just roll my eyes over the ineptitude & the disconnect with reality.

Someone told me I could get one as a "health care provider", even though I'm 0nly mental health. Eh, I'll ride it out as long as the kid is protected.
As far as whether or not this flu has reached its peak, here is some interesting data from the CDC:
Individual case counts were kept early during the 2009 H1N1 outbreak when the 2009 H1N1 virus first emerged. As the outbreak expanded and became more widespread, individual case counts become increasingly impractical and not representative of the true extent of the outbreak. This is because only a small proportion of persons with respiratory illness are actually tested and confirmed for influenza (including 2009 H1N1) so the true benefit of keeping track of these numbers is questionable. In addition, the extensive spread of 2009 H1N1 flu within the United States made it extremely resource-intensive for states to count individual cases. On July 24, 2009, CDC discontinued reporting of individual cases of 2009 H1N1, but continued to track hospitalizations and deaths.
