but don't you think instead of Stevie recording Street Angel, that she should have made a grunge album. It would've been her most daring and experimental album, it would fit with her klonopin addiction well, and if the songs used were written similar to Space Needle, Trouble In Shangri-La, or even How Still My Love, it would have been killer. :]

Nothing like capitalizing on a trend!

I could just see Stevie touring to promote that album. Sporting a ripped denim skirt and flannel shawls.

I think she learned her lesson when trying to be late 80's hair metal trendy with 'Sometimes Its a Bitch' and 'Loves a Hard Game to Play'.

Stevie never did disco, which is a shame. I wonder how Stevie's vintage 1977 or 1978 voice would have sounded with the relentless disco beat. I wonder if she ever went to Studio 54?

actually, now that I think of it 'Whenever I Call You Friend' is sort of radio-friendly disco.

Stand Back sure sounds pretty disco-y to me! :)

Good post.

I'm pretty certain she did go to Studio 54 -- I read it somewhere.

She was rich, famous, fashionable, promiscuous (not a slight- rest of the band was too), and loved cocaine. Why wouldn't she have been to Studio 54?

Aren't there some photos of her there? With most of FMac and I think Rod Stewart, too. Circa '78/'79?

The Linus Loves cover might give you some idea of what disco Stand Back might have sounded like ...
