I really dug it.

I didn't know John had a daughter hahah.
But overall the thing was really good, I really enjoyed it

I've had it for years, but just watched it again the other night. What really surprises me is how well overall Lindsey and Stevie got along. Especially how huggie, touchie feelie, and clique-ish they were Stevie's first day in the studio... all that grinning, and whispering to one another in the corners while listening to Stevie's tracks. All of this seems to defy Stevie's accusations the past couple of years that they fought like cats and dogs during the making of SYW, that she hated the songs, and that Lindsey treated her poorly. It seems like quite the opposite is true (sans the one fight about Chris Lord Alge, which I think was pretty tame). They all actually seemed to be having a pretty good time.

Destiny Rulers is the best music documentary I've ever seen! I love it!
It really shows them together and how it is in the studio etc...

Btw, it's my dad's favourite Fleetwood Mac documentary also :) He's always like, when I'm watching other Mac/Stevie dvd's, Hanna can we watch that one when they are in the studio and John is on the boat etc...lol

Right. The fight was tame - they were both saying the same thing at the end of it, they just weren't listening to each other. I love the way they were working together at Needham's studio too - when Stevie tells Lindsey it's "very hooky". Also, if you slow down the fast motion stuff in that studio, she draws on a tablet and shows him something and they laugh and she picks up her dog and puts it in his face when he's lying on the couch. Cute.

I think the whole "Come" issue may have been a bigger fight that we didn't get to see.

I thought she said: "very cookie" -- and I just couldn't figure out if that was a good thing ("Sweet!") or bad ("cookie cutter"). "Hooky" makes more sense (though I wonder how Peter Hook feels 'bout that). To which track was she referring? EFO?

But I do remember Stevie saying even then (a couple of years before she said she hated SYW in general) that while making it they would fight like school girls for two hours while discussing something that happened during Tusk.

I think they fought, but I don't think it was torture or lingering depression for anyone. I think Lindsey probably had to referee the same quality of fights between Will and LeeLee that he was participating in with Stevie.

From my understanding, John and Mick had been helping Lindsey with a solo album and by the time the band decided to make a record under Fleetwood Mac, most of Lindsey's tracks were already done.

I really do love Destiny Rules. I cry at the end every single time I watch it, while Lindsey and Stevie hold hands and walk on stage together... I always feel ridiculous when I get that sappy over it, but its just so heartwarming to see after watching the rest of the documentary.

Regardless of how it all "morphed", they were planning on doing an album in 5 years. So, I'm not always convinced Lindsey's solo work is hijacked for the Mac. I think he's just always working on stuff and they probably make a "corporate" decision as to what works better for the band. I think that's also how Stevie's stuff gets picked. She gave Lindsey 17 songs to review while she was on tour and I guess he chose the ones he felt most comfortable working with.

I totally found that LB-lighting-up/sucking-back thing on my own, though. I got the Destiny Rules doc like not too long after becoming a member here and it was basically the only thing I had of FM, aside from that boring-a$$ Rumours vid where they're all talking about the album (love the album, get bored by videos/interviews of them going on and on about it), and the brilliance that is The Dance.

Anyway, I happened to be watching it again for the *cough*millionth*cough second time or so and noticed the sped-up parts and fooled around with the slow-mo and there was LB totally partaking. It was quite refreshing seeing him in is element, since I had no doubts in my mind he was high as a kite in so many pics/footage...just visual reiteration.

(Thank goodness his kids weren't in the room or anything.)

The All Access thing did have footage that didn't end up on the documentary. There's at least that one segment I recall where Stevie is telling Lindsey she knew he wouldn't like her song. So, it did have extra stuff not on the dvd.

As for the formal "Destiny Rules" that appeared on tv, that's the same as the dvd.

All Access had a lot of other stuff. I recall it was set up as interviews. Stevie was showing off her wardrobe, Lindsey was sitting in a trailer talking about the finished product, etc. It was all mixed in with old footage though, and a few backstage SYW snippets that weren't in DR. I believe Lindsey telling Mick about the flowers Christine sent was in All Access.

Speaking of extra footage - the SYW cd had a few clips - Stevie is recording and Lindsey asks her if everything sounds ok. She says, "Um, it could use more echo..." and then she adds coyly, "that's always going to be my answer, you know that..." Cute.

Yes, which is where I have to disagree with Michelej1's reading of this moment. I don't think Stevie is accusing Lindsey of not liking the song, but, rather, not liking that the song provide the title for the album -- because it would make the album a Stevie thing. Lindsey says something like: "of course you knew i wouldn't like it" and then clarified, I think, by saying something like: "it's not that it's your song, it just doesn't have the right feel to it" as a title for the album (The irony is that, to me, Gift of Screws and Say You Will are the perfect titles for this album).

That whole discussion was sorta funny when Stevie told LB she knew he wouldn't like it and he kinda laughed and said, "Well, of course you did!" Then she just bluntly said, "Well think of something else then." LOL. The look on her face. Typical...

But, since we're on the subject, the only other album to use a song title as the album title is Tango in the Night - and Lindsey freaking left - maybe that's what the big fight was all about!!!!!:lol:

I watched 'Destiny Rules' today for like the 20th time. I really love this documentary. I think Stevie is just so pretty and she's really funny. John cracks me up as well. Lindsey is hot as usual, but I love watching him do his thing with producing and singing as well as playing the guitar. I love the interaction between him and Stevie throughout this film!. Mick is crazy and loving with everyone. Every time I watch it, it makes me love this band even more.

- When Stevie comes in with the spirt catcher and John lights his cigarette, I just burst out laughing. You can just seem him thinking out loud about how weird Stevie can be :)

- I love Stevie's smile and laugh. She seemed to enjoyed herself, which she says she didn't now, but I call bs. She seemed genuinely happy to be there. Her voice is also great during this. I love her singing 'Thrown Down'. Such a good song.

- When Stevie and Lindsey are running through 'Goodbye Baby', I always shed a tear. That song is so moving to me, and the way she looks over at him while she's singing it melts my heart. I love that scene.

- The fight over 'Thrown Down' is so funny. "It's the just the poet that I am" while Lindsey rolls his eyes hahaha.

- I love when all four of them are being interviewed towards the end, but they are focusing on John and Mick interrupts him and John gets mad. It's quite amusing.

- I love the ending and the way they choose to end it. It's makes me remember when the lights went out right before they came out on stage in Atlanta. It makes me so excited to see them again... Hopefully :)

Overall, such a good documentary. If you haven't seen it, you must!

One more thing I noticed, when they start rehearsals they show a huge board with what seems to be the set-list and over to the far right there are songs which seem to me were cut, like Red Rover, Illume, and I think I saw Storms. Did anyone else see this or notice this while watching it?

My random favorite parts of the documentary is the "it's just the poet that I am" line and Stevie bringing the singing fish to the house. She is such a trip.

I liked seeing them make the album and the interaction between all four of them but I usually fast forward through the part when they're talking to the record company guy. I don't know why but I can't stand that part.

There's only two "fights". The one is DR is a little longer, simply because it starts with Karen's discussion with Lindsey and Stevie trying to take up for Karen. The actual fight (edited) to a minute or less.

The All Access clip was very brief too and it was the only "fight" in it. It amounted to a sentence or two apiece with Mick sitting there looking like he'd rather be somewhere else. LOL.

The part that cracks me up about this segment - at the end Stevie pats the guy on the arm and says, "go take a little rest" ... this is after she has explained to Lindsey that they shouldn't play them the entire gamut of new material and overwhelm them. Then, obviously, it ends up that they do - even though she tried her best to control that by starting the meeting with, "Linds, why don't you just play them my 3 songs". LOL. Can't blame a girl for trying.

Because he opens his mouth and it really looks like it's him singing :laugh::laugh:
My sister thought, seriously, that it WAS he and she just "Hahahahaha, is it Mick who's saying that werid sound???" and I just "LMAO, no!!!!!!" But I didn't know it was a kazoo until you said that...lol
