View Full Version : World Series!
The baseball World Series starts tonight. It's the New York Yankees versus the Philadelphia Phillies! Who you got?
Since both LA teams are out I don't have a real rooting interest, but think the Yankees win in six games.

Even though I couldn't give a rat's ass about either team, I'm liking the Phillies because of my extreme hatred of everything about the Yankees.
(Please don't shun me! Ha.)
The Phillies romping all over New Yawk.

As a card carrying fan of the Philadelphia Phillies since 1979 (age 8), this is like living in the twilight zone. Charlie Manuel has read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War". The Phillies have not failed to win the first game in any playoff series going back to the NLDS of 2008. Chase Utley scored the first run with a homerun in Tampa during game 1 of the WS last year (as he did last night). The national/NYC media has no idea how good the Phillies are. They thought beating Tampa last year was a fluke. 6-1 loss in your brand new stadium; first time out, hadn't lost at home in this postseason. Do you think the Phillies care!?!?

I have a bad feeling that NY is gonna wrap it up tonight. :(
Boo!
I really wish the Phillies could win these next two -- that's a lot to ask for though!

keep the faith, Alexa!!
anything can happen in the World Series!!!!
Congrats to the Yanks! All I can say about the Phillies is pitching, pitching & did I say pitching. They really could use some pitchers. My Phillies MVPs are Chase Utley & Cliff Lee. And I'm going to throw up now. Isn't there a throwing up smiley? And hey, I'm not bitter. We'll get ya next year, Yanks!

The Phillies lost the World Series in game 3. Andy Pettitte was on the ropes, and Shane Victorino was swinging at "junk" that wasn't even reaching home plate. That allowed Pettitte to get by with just three runs in that inning, when it could've been at least five.
Cole Hamels was awesome early in game 3. He was pitching very well, until the home plate ump called an obvious strike a ball. Cole Hamels lost his concentration, and many runs were scored.
The Phillies will be back next year, they have the money, and the smarts to get the players they need. In fact if it wasn't for the Phillies GM, the Phillies would've never made the postseason this year. The bullpen was made with matchsticks. I love this team for the fact it even made the World Series. They will win it again.

Well, they won't have the Dodgers to contend with after the ownership McCourts messy divorce and the sale of the team. Dodger stadium renovations have been postponed. and it's unlikely the will be chasing free agents.

As we bring the baseball season to a close, has anyone seen what Sammy Sosa looks like recently?
