So I randomly found this thread from a long time ago...

http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=17647

...and thought it'd be fun to start it up again!

Find a Stevie song (or songs) that you usually skip or don't like for whatever reason. Then find one lyric/line that that you like from that song. Capeesh?

Blue Denim: So I'm going away for a little while to remember how to feel / And if I find the answer, I promise you, I'll come back and get you

Bombay Sapphires: The sea never changes, not really / It is the constant in my life

Cry Wolf: So I'm not gonna try at all to keep you from the flame / Just remember not to call my name

Desert Angel: ........... nope... got nothing...

Docklands: (if I must...) Sometimes I feel like I'm in a foreign land and there's a mirror I'm looking through

Fire Burning: There is no fire burning / Just a soul crying

Running Through the Garden: All the love I have for your life, turn around

Silver Girl: .........

Sister Honey: I love acting ridiculous to this song, but I don't really like the lyrics, except this one: Can we still be friends? / The answer's always yes / Even best intentions turn around one day

Thousand Days: And if the sun warms up the rain and the rain puts out the sun, why does the greatest love become the greatest pain?

Twisted: ...........

Okay, I've really got to go to class now -- your turn!

There are only three songs that I don't like at all. "The Nightmare", "I Still Miss Someone", and "That Made Me Stronger". I really can't think of any redeeming lines in them!

It took me quite a while to find something nice in some of these...

Candlebright: I am something of a dreamer

Everybody finds out: She spends everyday / waiting for the day / when everybody finds out

I miss you: I think about how much I / can't wait to hear the sound / of your laughter

I still miss someone: No I never got over those blue eyes

Nightbird: It makes no difference at all / 'cause I wear boots all summer long ;)

No Questions Asked: So today, she says, well, I changed my mind / That's a woman's right they say

Real Tears: It was everything that I had not wanted / there were reasons to be crazy

Too far from Texas: --- nothing, sorry

Unconditional Love: same here

I would say a Thousand Days doesn't do much for me, but the chorus itself. The way "it seems like a thousand days" is said, almost sounds as rhythmic as a drum beat. That draws me in, hypnotically, but the song as a whole doesn't have that pull. Michele

Beauty and the Beast (Yes, I know.) I never doubted your beauty...I've changed

Street Angel When you pulled me through the rainbow, I thought you'd stop

Crystal How the faces of love have changed, turning the pages
And I have changed oh, but you, you remain ageless

The Nightmare She fell through the ivory morning

And if we're gonna get into demos:
Cecilia (god I hate this song. You don't even know.) Where have the white birds flown, have they flown so very far?

Julia She loves the stars and she loves you

Gypsycat, you don't like "Nightbird"?!

And Lisa... both "BATB" and "Crystal"??

Welcome to the Room...Sara: When you hang up that phone/you cease to exist

Sister Honey: Can we still be friends? / The answer's always yes

Desert Angel: :distress:

WISYA:

Jane: :(

That Made Me Stronger: Dreams reoccur in my solitude/Breaking my heart/Injuring my mood

One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star: when the chorus kicks in

Love Changes: I wish I could figure a way around this/She says...like a sad song

Alexa, you don't like this song? I could cry. I love this song, lovelovelovelove this song haha.

Fire Burning: I really can't think of anything...

Jane: I actually really like the first 25 seconds of this song, it's almost sensuous. And then it all goes to ****. Not just ****- but hot, runny, explosive diarhea .

That Made Me Stronger: "Dreams reoccur in my solitude, breaking my heart injuring my mood" I think everybody knows what it's like to be down and out, hole yourself up and to play over and over in your mind what has you sad, and how it's a vicious cycle.

One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star: "There were candles, crystals... I was anyone's fantasy" I played this song incessantly after my last big breakup 4 years ago because of that line alone. It was my little way of saying to myself that yes, this person may not have wanted me... but there is only ONE of me, I'm damned cool, and anyone would have been lucky to have me as their own. Weird that such a silly little line could be so empowering... but that's how my little pea brain works. :D

I haven't included songs like I Still Miss Someone, Unconditional Love, Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind, and Just Like A Woman because she didn't write them. Her vocals weren't good on any of those either, so there's not really anything nice to say :). Gotta love those Klonopin years!

Two Kinds Of Love: "well don't you know... as you walk on by.... that great temptations never really die"

(I can't even describe how much I hate this song, but love that line.)

Long Distance Winner: You burn brightly in spite of yourself
I Will Run To You: All those lonely nights showed me something
The Nightmare: Deep into the waters of the one she called love, she paled in the wake of what some call a dream
Two Kinds Of Love: Who in the world do you think that you are fooling? Well I've already done everything that you are doing.
Docklands: Keep your defenses...but don't shut the loving out
Jane: she could look a challenge right between the eyes

I also skip "I Still Miss Someone", "When I See You Again", "Unconditional Love" and "Destiny" but can't think of anything I like about either of those

You should be shot.

Shot because I don't like them or because I can find a line I like???
Anyway, I'm gonna buy a gun and do it myself okay?

I don't hate Nightbird actually I just think it's a little boring. And for EFO...I HATE SYW, at least Stevie's songs (except of Thrown Down!) and this is the one I hate most.

Haha I'm sorry! I just... yeah. I don't know. It's odd to me. Really odd.

I am double  at this! No "Love Distance Winner" love? I'll give you "Docklands" and "I Will Run to You" (even though I kinda like that song).

And am I the only one who actually likes "Two Kinds of Love"? Haha I'm so lame. I especially like it on the OSOTM tour when she sings "It's outrageous... 'cause they live apart" instead of just "But they live apart"

Sorry, but I really don't like that song. I don't like Stevie's vocal on it or the melody or the music. Good lyrics though.

WTF??? LOL....you don't like BATB and Crystal????? Why???
I looovvveee both of them soo very much!!!

Ok so here's the one and ONLY Stevie song I don't really like: I still miss someone and it's the ONLY song of ALL her songs that I don't know the lyrics of because I never listen to it...I mean, I CAN every single song she has written (though I know she hasn't written this song) but I can't this one...sorry Stevie, lol :o

Well, you don't have to fret too much because it's not even a Stevie song... it's a cover of an old Johnny Cash song. So there... I absolve your guilt!

I don't mind it, actually. I think OSOTM was meant to be a concept album, and you really have to look at the sum of it's parts combining to make something special, versus forcing any particular song to stand alone. OSOTM to me is almost like Stevie's misty fairy tale opera album to me... the individual songs blend together to weave a bigger picture, take you on a little journey. It's intended to be viewed in the big picture, versus focusing on a particular moment in time.

... Should I leave now? I'll just slip toward the doorway here...

If it makes any difference, I like Stevie's version of Crystal and the live BATB's from the Wild Heart tour. ;) Lindsey's take on Crystal is too sappy and girly, aaaand... I don't know, BATB studio has never done anything for me. It breaks all the Nicksian rules, I know.

Don't worry I'm not a huge fan of BATB either.. I'm just not one for big, classic, soppy ballads.. Her vocal is amazing in it but I just can't bring myself to enjoy the track as a whole. I do like the blues demo version though, a lot more laid back :)

I think "That Made Me Stronger" had several redeeming qualities. For example, it had some notes in it, and some singing. Also, it made Stevie and the record company some money. And it gave the backup musicians, sound engineers and so on something to do for a few days. :p

This is the line that made me choose this for our wedding song. I choke up every time I hear it.
