Platinum Weird

[APerfectLie]

I don't know if we have ever talked about them before on here but I was just listening to them so I decided to make a post. A few years back I was watching VH1 classic and saw a platinum weird music video and the lead singer reminded me of Stevie, so I looked the band up and apparently Dave Stewart (from the Eurythmics) and Kara DioGuardi (American Idol) made this band up in 2004/2005, but they decided to put a story behind they band. So they said that it started in the 1970's and the day before the album was to be released, the lead singer Erin Grace disappeared and the band fell apart and that 30 years later, dave decided to restart the band but have Kara as the lead singer. Well all the music recorded was sung by kara, but when she is singing as "Erin" she sings in a deeper voice and they made some fake old 70s music videos. They are pretty good if you haven't heard them!

Why do you care tho?
Because they got Stevie to play along!!!
They did a show on VH1 called Rock Legends- Platinum Weird and they interviewed several people including Jimmy Iovine(the album was done under interscope records, so it was kinda his idea) and Stevie Nicks.

And in it Stevie says, "I saw Platinum Weird in London in the early 70's and that girl Erin Grace, I liked her style, I thought that it was very interesting and innovative and probably, actually I probably took a little of her style for myself." and "Well no, actually she didn't disappear, she reappeared in Los Angeles and Don Henley introduced her to Lindsey and actually, that caused a lot of problems... what do you think Rumours is about?"

Its all a fake story, but gotta love anything with Stevie!
And not to mention their album is pretty good!

Here is the link to part 1 of 4 of the VH1 show about them with Stevie!

Well, they sure got the "weird" part right...it made me laugh though

Thanks for the info :)

Sadly with Miss Nicks she probably believes everything she said

They also "borrow" from SnL's bio, it's hilarious. They have a song called "Avalanche" ... LOL. (Sounds nothing like Landslide, but the title makes for a funny tongue and cheek). Their album is called "Make Believe" (Stevie - "Not Make Believe")... too funny.

I think they were on Interscope, Jimmy Iovine's label. So, I'm sure that's partly how Stevie got involved.

You can listen to their stuff here: http://www.myspace.com/platinumweird

Speaking of Dave Stewart, I thought it so funny on one of Lindsey's radio interviews last year (think it was Rockline) and they had recorded Dave Stewart (who had been there a few days or the week before) asking Lindsey a question. I believe it was something about working with someone you had been in relationship with. They are all so hysterical!

What i'd like to know is what that 1974 footage of FM (or is that B/N?) is from. It's right after Jimmy Iovine at 4:49. That IS authentic footage, isn't it? I had to rewind it a bunch of times. It's not from anything I've seen from that era.
