OMG! This is indeed from the vault. I haven't seen this in years & years. Always a good video. The feel, the sound, the look . . . everything. Everyone was so young.

I'm normally a huge fan of Stevie's backing vocals. I actually think she can be a far more alluring backing singer than a front woman. Just look at Intuition with Rick Vito, Tunnel Of Love with Walter Egan, Get My Way with Sandy Stewart, Little Lies with Fleetwood Mac, Sorcerer with Marilyn Martin, and so many others. She's just so seductive in those songs, and she truly takes her time on figuring out how to wrap her voice around the lead vocal. To me, she really missed the mark with Insider though *ducks to avoid large heavy objects*. Her vocal seems nervous, unsure, and apologetic. It still brought me to tears when I heard it live in Charlotte 3 years ago though :p.

Tom and Stevie are singing a duet. She's not singing backup vocals.

And Midnight Wind is smoking. I agree she is a good background singer. From Over My Head on. Michele

You all do know that this is on the 'Playback' DVD of Tom Petty's right? That's the first place I ever saw or heard about this song. I love it.
Wasn't there some story about Tom wanting 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around' for his album and he wanted Stevie to use 'Insider', only they talked him out of it?
I love this song.
