The first FMac album I had was Tango in the Night, bought for me in mid 1987.(I was almost 13) I still have that cassette and I think I played it to death. I've been through 3 cassettes of it and now have a CD. Anyway, I just wondered what album everyone else had first.

Rumours in 1993. I heard Gold Dust Woman and The Chain on one of those classic rock stations Two For Tuesdays one day in the car with my Mom, and I went nuts. We went straight home, and Mom dug out Rumours from my Dad's giant CD collection. I wore holes through it, and am now on my third Rumours CD. :D

I really don't remember, but I guess it was Mirage. I loved the two videos and I was always a big fan of "Love in Store" and was pissed when it didn't chart higher.
I have very clear recollection of early FM in my life, though, hearing "Dreams" multiple times during the eternal family vacation car trips between New York and Florida.

After hearing the radio hits umpteen times I bought Rumours and these were the two songs I heard for the first time after that purchase that totally blew me away. Gold Dust Woman is probably my most favorite FM song ever!!

Bare Trees...yes, before Stevie and Lindsay...(I am old) LOL
Me, too...although, I'm most likely even older.
The first Fleetwood Mac album I got pretty much when it came out (within a month or so of its release) was Then Play On...had to backtrack to get Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac & English Rose (and it took me a bit longer to track down the two UK albums, Mr Wonderful & Pious Bird Of Good Omen)....from then on, I just got 'em as they came out.

I bought Tango In The Night as I loved Big Love. My brother gave me a badly recorded cassette of Rumours and Fleetwood Mac.
Over the next year, I bought Mirage and Tusk and then to the solo recording Bella Donna. I bought Lindsey's Law and Order in a second hand record shop.
It was a long while after that I bought the Live album and completed ALL of the solo stuff.

Due to my love of categorisation I'm going to put my first studio album here, not the Greatest Hits that I started with. I got Tango In The Night first, then Rumours, then Fleetwood Mac, then Mirage, then Tusk, then Say You Will and have just been filling in the gaps since then...

My first Mac album, that I heard first, was Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits from 1988, my dad baught it in the fall of 2007 and that got me into The Mac and Stevie...but we already had Rumours and Tusk Lp's but I didn't know that until I discovered them :) So Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits, the first albm I heard :)

My first was Tango In The Night which I bought because I loved the song Everywhere, which was a big hit at the time. I must have been about 12 years old. I had heard Rumours because my aunt owned it but I didn't connect the two until later, I didn't realise the hippie sounds of Rumours and the modern smooth synths of Tango were the same band. Funnily enough all these years on Rumours still sounds pretty fresh these days and Tango sounds kinda dated.

The Dance in 1997 was the first time I heard FM.
I was only seven years old at the time, so obviously I didn't buy it.
But my parents had it playing in their cars for the longest time and I just remember loving it.
Then came the DVD later on and I was able to connect the voice of "Landslide" to that "pretty blonde lady."
Besides that, the first album I actually BOUGHT was Rumours.

My first cassette of Fleetwood Mac was Greatest Hits (1988). But it was a copy, not originall. On that cassette was a first half of Timespace too. I really donīt know when I heard it for the first time... but definitely in 90s :D. Probably in the second half.
My first originall was CD of Mirage.
But I have to say that the album Greatest Hits from 1988 is most common album of Fleetwood Mac here in the Czech Republic. It was huge success in Britain and Europe generally, so after revolution in 1989 it was expanded in Czech rep. a little bit too.
Yeah, and I forgot Rumours. My daddy had a copy of this on cassette too, just next to the Greatest Hits/Timespace cassette :D.

Rumours. 2006. I'll never forget listening to this beautiful music, while reading the liner notes detailing all the break-ups (trying to put faces to the names of the songwriters). "Don't Stop" came on and I thought: "Bill Clinton ruins everything. . ." and then "Go Your Own Way" came on and I lost my mind: it felt like love at first sight or like when you finally meet someone who you've seen in dreams before. I was hooked from that moment. The next day, I went to the store and picked up Tusk. The next day, I got the White Album. . . and then I just dove in.

When I was 16, (that would be 10 years ago) me and my friend were going through her dad's old records and tapes, and we found Behind The Mask. I borrowed it, and gave it a listen at home. It's not the greatest album of all time, but I was intrigued. After that I came across the TITN video, and watched it several times in two days. It was not the greatest live performance, but I was intrigued more. :) Then finally while I was going through CDs in a music store, I saw The best Of from 1988. I decided to gie it a shot, and played it right there on headphones. Since the first second I heard Rhiannon I was hooked. I bought the CD instantly, and drove the rest of my family completely crazy over the next month playing Rhiannon all the time. then a local TV station aired The Dance DVD as a part of a Christmas program. That was the moment I officially became a lifetime fan. The interesting thing was at first I though the original FM lineup was with Billy and Rick. :) Both BTM, and TITN video were without Lindsey, so...

My dad bought two copies 'The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac' and gave me one. I knew the 'popular songs' and that's all I would listen to. A few years later I actually listened to every song on both albums and was hooked. The first album I bought myself was Mirage. My dad had pretty much bought me (for birthdays and christmas) every other album and box set fleetwood mac had so I could only buy what I didn't have haha.

Fleetwood Mac and Rumours I bought because I had gotten into Stevie, and had found out she was in this band called Fleetwood Mac, and I wanted to check them out. I bought them a few months ago and they have since become my favorite band! The song that caught my attention was Rhiannon and Gold Dust Woman, but the latter definently was the first one, I fell in love with! Obviously by my name!

Got Tusk first. Then went back and purchased used versions of Rumours and the White album. Had not been aware that the people who did the songs I'd heard on the radio: SYLM, Over My Head, Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way, Landslide, Dreams, etc. were the same people who did that Drowning in the Sea of Love song.

Mine was Rumours last year. My dad wanted me to show him how to copy songs from a CD to a computer and put Rumours in the player. It changed my life. It was the only thing I listened to for weeks. And it's still my favourite FM album (and probably ever will be, I don't like changes:D).

My parents had the Tango tape in the car at all times because I always wanted to hear Everywhere and Seven Wonders (over and over and over and over and over! ha!) I was about 2-3 years old.
Then, about a decade later, The Dance came out and thats when I started getting serious and bought all of the Rumours lineup albums.
(I still have that tape though! I could never get rid of it...)

let's see. i distinctively remember going to the record store and spending 30 minutes deciding which one to get. technically, i bought the dance first (or my friend did for my birthday), but as far as a studio album, i bought rumours. not because i knew of its magnitude, or because of the declining relationships rumours was about, but because i recognized more songs on it  i knew NOTHING about fleetwood mac at the time. i just knew i was going to eventually own all the albums they ever released. so the second was probably the white album, then mirage, i believe. tusk, then tango. i think i bought tango used, and it hurt me because it was one of those albums i really didn't want, but was only buying to complete my collection. i never bought a new copy and i think a few songs skip :o and of course i bought SYW on release date.
(i'd like to add that i went on to buy mystery to me, heroes are hard to find, bare trees, and behind the mask but this is the rumours forum and i really don't know which order these came in other that M2M first)

The first album related album that I bought was Greatest Hits (and SN's Timespace) about 15 years ago. I liked it so I sent off (out of a catalogue - remember those!) for the white album, Rumours, Behind the Mask (and possibly Mirage - can't quite remember whether that came a bit later) all at once.
I really liked the BTM album, still one of my favourites to this day, and still my favourite lineup of FM. Of course back when I bought those Time was released a short time later, so I was very excited to have a new FM album, think I bought it as soon as it came out.
For those who never make it to the post-rumours forum I'm currentry trying to defend Time's honour against the hordes of FM fans who don't like it (if you like it I could use some help!) ;)

I remember being in the living room and being so excited and playing the songs and loving every bit of Rumours! Loved all the pics...I remember playing them throughout the summer and using my mother's carpet sweeper handle as my microphone!!!!!!...It was perfect height and I could bend it up and down just like Stevie's mike!!! On one of my first CDs ever, Roy Orbison's "Mystery Girl" album, there was a good song by a guy named Billy Burnette, which I liked a lot. So I tried to find out if he had recorded some music by himself.
Today, you just type a string into a search engine, but that wasn't possible for a 12 year old in rural Germany in the early 90s. I guess I only could type by 14, but what I did find out with the help of other measures like press and a collector's price catalogue for used LPs, was that Billy Burnette played in Fleetwood Mac.
I didn't want old stuff of any band then, but I guess that's how kids are, so I looked around in record stores for the newest available Fleetwood Mac product.
I knew I would eventually find a recent album of the band, but here was something that was even fresher off the record plant: a solo album from a fellow Fleetwood Mac member: Lindsey Buckingham's "Out Of the Cradle".
And when I first listened to it, I knew immediately that it is a good album and that these Fleetwood Mac guys and gals are mightily talented. "Don't Look Down", "Soul Drifter" and "Turn It On" were instant favourites.
So I kept my eyes open and the next thing that appeared in a mailorder catalogue was "Coming Home" by Billy Burnette. I got this one then and I guess that's when my love for country music broke out. It's such a strong set of songs. All it is missing is "Nothin To Do (And All Night To Do It)".
Another while later, lucky me found a cut-out CD of "Behind the Mask", the album I had been searching for.
And only then did I get to know the ladies.
My favourites from the album are "When the Sun Goes Down" (for obvious reasons), "Do You Know" (a song I actually was in love to), "In the Back Of My Mind" and "Affairs Of the Heart".
I would have been the right target audience for "The Chain" Boxed Set, but that one didn't quite fit my budget, so I had to skip that and only got the singles much later.
The next FM related release that I got was Stevie's "Street Angel", because I thought she didn't get to sing enough songs on "Behind the Mask".
"Gretta" is awesome.
Somewhat surprisingly, I went to the record store one day and there they had a pile of "Time" CDs, and a small info sheet announcing it as the new Fleetwood Mac. I found there was Billy on it and I was happy. The disappearance of Rick Vito and Stevie Nicks did surprise me, though. I got it anway, but I have to admit that it took me a while to get into Bekka's songs, even though I had known her from her duet on Joe Cocker's album the year before, which I liked. But I didn't associate her with Fleetwook Mac then.
Dave Mason's songs are the least played from "Time" in my household.
So that's a short journey of how I discovered the Mac. I must say that I mostly prefer the solo / late era Mac over the classic rock era Mac.

My brother brought home Rumours one day. I remember my mom trying to figure out who Lindsey was and who Stevie was...it was quite comical because she thought Lindsey was a woman and Stevie was a man! I must say at 11 years I had very little interest in the album. Little did I know what was coming...

I was 15 when The Dance came out so that definitely was my first album. I remember I recorded the concert on VHS the first night it was on. I don't even know what made me do that, as all I knew of them was that Billy Corgan and Courtney Love covered their songs, but I was hooked upon first viewing. I played that vhs all summer long! My 3 yr old niece used to watch "The Chain" with me and dance around in her little tutu and scarf. That was the only song she would watch, though. heh. After that I got Rumours and I don't think I picked up another Fleetwood Mac album until Say You Will which I totally love.

TUSK!
Got it on a trade for some lame Paul McCartney album.
(That's probably the best thing to do with a Paul McCartney album. :D)
(Also, this is a fascinating thread!)
Mine was The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac. I'd accidentally asked both my friend Jenelle and Mum to buy me "Recurring Dream" by Crowded House for Christmas two years ago, so I tried to think of something else to get to swap with the extra copy at JB Hi-Fi. I'd recently heard the songs "Seven Wonders" and... something else I can't remember... and I found out they were by a band called Fleetwood Mac. At the time I also considered Dream Academy, as I loved "Life In A Northern Town", but my Mum didn't know much about them. But she knew Fleetwood Mac (of course). So on our way down to a beautiful place called Halls Gap in the Grampians of Victoria, we stopped at JB Hi-Fi, and I swapped the extra "Recurring Dream" for the 2CD Very Best of FM. I put on the first CD, and was ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED by "Monday Morning"! I was so shocked that I almost reconsidered my decision! However, Dreams came on, and I then realised that my purchase (actually, present) was sound.
During the trip I realised that FM had played all these songs I really liked ("SYLM", "Gypsy", and various other singles, particularly my nostalgic "Little Lies", which is one of only three songs I remember from when I was about four years old, the other two being "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits, and "Heart of Glass" by Blondie), but had never known the band. Within months, if not sooner, they became my lifelong favourite band!
After TVBOFM, I bought Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Mirage, and TITN simultaneously late last year. I played them all in that order within two days. I think "Caroline" was the most memorable song (although they kinda all are really) the first time through. All those albums have since endured a good thrashing! :D
I got Tusk and Go Insane for my birthday this year (which have both now been thrashed, particularly as they're my favourite FM and LB albums respectively), and bought L&O and OOTC sometime earlier this year. I bought Christine McVie a couple of months ago, and have had Timespace for quite a while now.
Btw, I love Monday Morning now, especially after it was the opening for Tuesday's Brisbane concert!
Also, because I'm actually from Melbourne, and couldn't take too many accessories, TVBOFM got thrashed for the first time in quite a while. :D I must admit I did notice the improved remastered quality of the album, compared to the others which I normally play (for the sake of listening to all of their songs, of which each and every one I unabashedly love... although perhaps not entirely equally).
Once again, I've waffled incessantly. :sorry:

While I first heard the dance in a barbershop earlier this year(a religous experience, see the songs of nostalgia thread) The first album I bought was Say You Will. Even today, it remains my personal favorite album, although in terms of quality, I would rank them like this
1.Tusk
2.Say You Will
3. Rumours
4. Tango in the Night
5. Mirage
Heresy I know!!
I guess im a fan of when FM experiments?
Don't get me wrong though, If my ipod was a cd player, rumours would have holes worn in it from repeated listening.

I heard Rumours in it's entirety back in 1977, I was 14 years old. So I immediately hit my parents up for cash when we were out shopping at Korvettes. I go to the record dept. and head straight for Fleetwood Mac. I was surprised that they had all these albums. So I picked up Rumours, however when looking at the albums I picked up Fleetwood Mac-Fleetwood Mac and was like wait I know alot of these songs so I grabbed that one also. But wait, whats this Buckingham Nicks record? So I also picked up that one. So I go find my parents and presented them with all three. My mother said "you said one album not three"! But I pleaded with her for the other two. So technically I got two "first" Fleetwood Mac albums and one bonus. LOL.
I have since purchased all of their albums and every album starting with Tusk on the day it gets released.

It was either 'Mystery to Me' or 'Hero's are Hard to Find'. Too old to remember back that far.
My Father had albums farther back than that. Probably all the way to '68, but I was too young to remember if he had them or not. I know he had something earlier than 'Mystery to Me' as I remember him telling me who we were listening to on occasion.
I was buying vinyl up until you couldn't get it any longer. I had original master recordings of the white album, Mirage, and Belle Donna from Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. I sure miss them.
I lost all of my albums among other things in the floods of '93 while living near St. Louis.

The Dance in 1997 was the first time I heard FM.
I was only seven years old at the time, so obviously I didn't buy it.
Same here!
Except I was 8 and I made my mom buy it for me after I heard her playing it all the time so I could listen to it at my dad's house also. The first one I bought myself was Fleetwood Mac.

My first album was Tango in the Night. My mum gave me her copy of the record early last year and I was hooked, Timespace, Bare Trees, Mirage, Tusk then Rumours all quickly followed :D

My first Fleetwood Mac album was Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac. I first got into them around 2008.
Basically, I was at school, and we were all bored. So we googled each others names (Like you do) and I googled my friends name "Rhiannon" found out it was a song, went home, downloaded it.
I became totally fascinated by Stevie Nicks, so I downloaded the album Rhiannon was on. After doing some research on wikipedia, I downloaded Rumours, Tusk, Mirage and Tango, as well as Stevie's solo albums (I've bought them all now, bought The White Album and Tango in Borders, then found Rumours in HMV, then I found Bella Donna in HMV a few weeks later, then got Tusk a few months later from Borders. I got given The Wild Heart at Christmas, and I've bought the rest with my Christmas money though I'm still waiting for Mirage and Stevie's solo albums to arrive from eBay xD)

Technically, mine was a taped copy of some form of Peter Green's FM greatest hits that my mum gave me when I was about 12. I loved it :) Then I kinda forgot about the band for about 10 years until me and the boyf started to collect vinyl and I got that old greatest hits tape in vinyl along with Rumours. Since then I've collected Fleetwood Mac, Tusk, Mirage, Tango and all of Stevie's solo albums from the 80's. Planning on working my way back through the Bob Welch era now.. but finding it hard to find a copy of Mystery to Me in the charity shops ;)

2006: The Dance. I remember listening to the radio and hearing the live version of landslide. I had always known of stevie and fm but didn't realize exactly how much I knew until I saw The Dance at HMV. I bought it and listened to it non-stop for weeks. The other rumours-era albums soon followed...

I inherited Rumours from my musically fickle older sister in 1977. I was 11 years old. And like many new fans of the band, my sister also bought Future Games
and Mystery to Me, thinking they were going to get more of the same -- suprise!
I inherited those albums and was very intrigued by their history. I delved into their blues period many years later. In fact, I'm on a big Peter Green era streak right now; I've been listening to all of their blues stuff, and getting more familiar with it. It's a big body of work, especially when you consider all the live songs, and various compilations. So much product made in so little time.

i will never stop being amazed about how music can master your thoughts, your most valuable memories. i remember being a child, in my dad's bar, waiting for him to finish work and going home to lunch. he would play the finest albums at the time, as well as classics from the 60's and 70's. at age 5 i was obsessed with the beatles, they were the only musicians i knew. i mean, i liked the songs, but didn't know the title or the artist. when i grew old i began to recognize the tunes: if i ever lose my faith in you, sting; another day in paradise, phil collins; and thousands more. 10 years or more ago i got back songs like "little lies". i saw the video in mtv. my childhood came back to me. some years later, when i started university i was looking for another childhood song, family man, by hall and oates. but i didn't know the artist, so i download "family man", from tango in the night. i thought it was pretty good. at that time, i discovered stevie nicks. then i realized they were in the same band!! and i began to listen to them a lot. wooowww! THAT WAS THE MUSIC from my memories!! THAT WAS THE SOUND IN MY MIND! they were called Fleetwood Mac and that album i recalled, tango in the night!!! and that's my story, folks!

A friend of mine just heard at a radio that Fleetwood Mac played when Clinton say goodbye to the Whitehouse. I insisted it was at the ignaugural ceremony but he told me the DJ has said (in different times) it was when they said goodbye to Clinton.
I'm 100% they played when Clinton became president. But did they played also when he left? Or the DJ is completely wrong?

Same with me. I became a Fleetwood Mac fan with Tango (was already a Lindsey fan/ liked Stevie) and after I bought the other albums (group and solo), I realized I already knew and loved a lot of the songs like Hold Me, Love Will Show Us How, Edge of Seventeen, and Gypsy, just to name a few.

My first Fleetwood Mac album was "Future Games", followed by "Mirage" and "Tango In The Night".
It took me some time to completely understand "Future Games", though I fell in love with "Women Of A Thousand Years" and "Future Games" the very first time I ever heard them. And after a while I loved the whole album and I still do.
"Mirage" was a big disappointment - I like it, but nothing more. "Gypsy" is the only song that really stands out, if you ask me.
But "Tango In The Night" was a revelation and I will always love every single song. I took it with me on a holiday in Norway, two weeks with my partner in a camper, discovering the otherworldly beauty of the Lofoten - we had plenty of other CD's with us, including Sinead O' Connor's debut, Depeche Mode and Bryan Ferry, but "Tango In The Night" became the one we loved the most and played constantly.
From this time on, there has always been some Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks-CD with me on every holiday... for example "Rumours" in Ireland, "Tusk" in Switzerland and "Bella Donna" in Italy... :D

I bought it with my sister, just to know more about the band. The only songs we knew were Big Love, Dreams, Everywhere, Little Lies, Seven Wonders, Say you love me, Gypsy and the Santana's version of Black Magic Woman. We listened to our new CD...and WOW! I must say that the songs that impressed me more were Albatross, Man of the World, and Tusk.
Then I bought TITN, and here I am!

I used to have one of those Fisher Price "My First Cassette" player things when I was a child - like 2 or 3, maybe. Because music was always ALWAYS playing in our house, it was something I got into very young. I remember I had "Rumours", "Mirage", "Greatest Hits" and Stevie's "Bella Donna" on cassette and would carry them around in my cassette player. So for me, Fleetwood Mac's music has always been in my life (I got to tell Stevie that when I met in her 2011). I got out of them as I got older slightly, and although I still owned the albums, I didn't listen to them much. By that point, I'd acquired a few more - Tango and The Wild Heart - but when I was about 12 or 13 and Say You Will was released, I got back into them pretty heavily and have been ever since. So the first album I had, I don't know which one it was - either "Rumours" or "Mirage.

When I got a computer I illegally downloaded Tusk and fell in love with pretty much the whole thing right away, especially 'Sara' and pretty much every LB contribution. So I packed up my pennies and went to A & B Sound to get the CD but all they had was a hits package (I think the one from the late 80s), Rumours and probably the [White] self titled album.
So I sort of begrudgingly bought Rumours, but I still knew that these songs would be good - my parents had The Dance and my dad played it a lot - so I knew The Chain, Dreams, You Make Loving Fun, Go Your Own Way and Don't Stop would all be good and I knew Gold Dust Woman (my parents didn't have the DVD Dance just the CD, so I didn't know it was in the set)..
I have to admit the first time I heard The Chain and Dreams on Rumours I didn't like them as I was so used to the Dance versions. But I was just a stupid teenager. Anyway one and a half to two weeks later I picked up Tusk and I wish I could remember the order of albums after that but I can tell ya I got a lot of Welch stuff before Mirage and the 75 album, but I probably got Tango third or fourth and loved that one too.
Tango on cassette as a kid was my first. Not sure which album followed - probably Rumours on CD.
The first Mac album (Back in '75) with Stevie and Lindsey. Rhiannon with it's chorus of 'Will You Ever Win' just drew me in.
of the studio albums the first one i bought was Tusk. i was shocked how many great and interesting songs that i've never heard before were on this album, especially considering one could basically hear almost every single Rumours song through radio or various greatest hits compilations.
Always surprised that there's not more Tusk talk here. It's their version of the Beatles' White Album only better imo. It's such a kaleidoscopic ride, all the songwriters had free reign and it never disappoints! Even now after countless spins since buying it in '79 I'll put it on and be transported to a strange and wonderful place. Sure wish TPTB hadn't pulled the reins in on LB after Tusk, who knows WHAT Mirage may have sounded like.

Yeah, I didn't like it just having heard it here and there throughout my childhood, but once I sat down and listened to the whole thing, certain aspects of the band-- three part harmonies, three vocalist/song writers, John's bass playing-- intrigued me and led me to other FM albums.

Tango In The Night was my first Fleetwood Mac album.
I had it bought for me on cassette and then bought the LP and just couldn't stop listening to it:D
I still think it's a fantastic album and am not surprised it's their second biggest seller.
I ended up buying all of their previous albums and just became a massive fan - was gutted when Lindsey left and didn't like BTM or Time but thankfully he came back and I loved The Dance and SYW.

Tango In The Night was my first Fleetwood Mac album.
I had it bought for me on cassette .
Yes! I agree. I guess this is supposed to be a "nostalgic" fond memory thread. Well, okkk....
(keep in mind I was only 13? in the 7th grade, att) All I remember in '87 was this weird video on MTV with a crazy lady sashaying her skirt back and forth in this very (peter Gabriel style movie) and I thought "Who the hell is THIS NEW band?" Of course the images of LB and the music itself caught my attention. I had to find out more....
Only on the 2nd or 3rd time seeing this video, did I realise that the crazy lady was Stevie Nicks, the lady that I knew at that time for TTM, ICW, SB. Well, it was all over from there...I went to the mall with my sis and cousins from KY that summer and bought my 1st FM album on cassette. Music and cassettes were a big part of my life then...and o/c I wanted to play them in ANY car I rode in.
It seems I had also bought Wham! Make It Big at the time....b'c all I remember was my (male) cousins, who were driving revolting to my music choices and exclaiming "They are fags!"
So, We didn't get to hear my precious FM or Wham! But on this occasion, a FAN was made.
I'll never forget my 7th grade year and the brilliant music my ear was exposed to that year. I even remember exclaiming to my 8th grade English teacher in '88 that I "had FM GH's"; her not-impressed reply: "Well, so do I".
Gosh, was I green back then, but well intelligent beyond my years... how I have grown to Love the '80's!

I have just started to read through this thread, and (imo) it IS very nostalgic and heartwarming, none-the-less.
Imagine the impact that FM has made on many souls through their parents/gparents through the years. At 7 yo, I was listening to Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers/Dottie West/Patsy Cline via my mother and (now) had only wished she had liked the Eagles, Heart, FM, whom I discovered years later. Nowadays...my mom just vaguely likes "SYLM" (Dance version) LOL.
Can You imagine being 7yo and hearing the haunting voice on Rhiannon or Sisters, the guitar riff on GYOW, or the bass on Chain, YMLF? If I was 7 again, these probably would have chilled me to the bone....in a good way...and I would have Q's mommy "who is that pretty angel/witch that sings with That band?"
I applaud the parents that exposed their young to FM and many other great acts of the '70's.

I love this! and the fact that you still post here=awesomeness! You are a fan indeed, and I love the fact that you thought BB and RV were the first incarnation AND drove your family nuts with Rhiannon!

Christmas of 1988 - my Dad told my Mum that he wanted Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits on cd.
i remember going to the shop with my Mum and her asking for it.
I heard the music and really got into Fleetwood Mac. I was 11.
For me that album was the most 'complete' album i had ever heard; i liked most if not all of the songs on there.
I always think of that greatest hits album as the 'green album'.

Reading all these stories is great. A lot of times it is passed down. In my case..Nothing was passed down, lol. My parents were not music people. I basically discovered bands through random purchases. The Mac....I tripped over them channel surfing. The dance was on VH1 or MTV or one of those Channels. Lindsey hooked me.....the rest invited me to stay.

My first Mac album was the '88 GH album that I got back in 2009. After already knowing Dreams and Don't Stop and hearing Gypsy on those music only tv channels, I knew I had to discover more of this Fleetwood Mac band. I had dismissed them as that band with that hokey feel-good song Don't Stop.
I'm happy and glad about the way things have turned out. Fleetwood Mac is truly my favorite music of all time and for rest of my life.

I was bored one day and asked my mother what music she was into when she was growing up in the '70s, and one of the first things she listed was Fleetwood Mac and I asked her if she had any CDs of them and she gave me the 1988 'Greatest Hits' CD and I played it and remember really liking it.
I didn't listen to the band frequently - I'd listen to the odd song here and there. Then I had a painful break-up with a friend who did everything she could to make me feel miserable and guilty. I was looking for music to sob my eyes out too, and of course I stumbled across 'Rumours', so that was my first original album.

WTF??? I replied to you a few days ago, and now I see that I must have done something wrong since I don't see my comment posted. I've been mostly lurking the Ledge over the past few years, but I decided to change that, and post more. I could never really join discussions and share the excitement of FM touring, since I've never seen them live, but that's about to change since I'm seeing them in Germany this tour. I am a dedicated fan, and I think it's my way of expressing my gratitude towards the people who brought so much joy and comfort in my life.
