Well guys, I really count on your help here. My bf (soon hubby) is coming back from Australia, after spending 10 months there. I missed him so much, and I can't tell you how happy I am that he is finally returning. Being separated for so long really wasn't easy. The worst part was that he wasn't certain how long was he gonna stay there until a few weeks ago. Managing to overcome some crises made our relationship even stronger. Now, I wanted to ask you what would you recommend me to cook for a welcome back dinner? I love to cook, I put much effort in it and I do it pretty good, and I would like it to be just perfect. What should I make for desert? I just have one request: NO SEA FOOD ( I wont eat that hahaha). I'm sure you'll have some interesting ideas.

What does he like? What is the one dish he can't possibly have had while down in Oz?

Well, basically unlike me he likes to experiment with food. It doesn't have to be something exotic, or something he couldn't have had in Oz.

Which is a hard one in itself given the nature of our multicultural country....

My bf (soon hubby)...

Congrats... Does that mean you live in a slightly more enlightened country than I do?

We live in Macedonia, which is a small country in Eastern Europe. Most of the people are really cool about the gay community, especially the young generations. There are of course people who oppose it, but it's not a really big deal. Gay marriages, however are still not legal here, but I guess that will change soon too. We are planning to go to Slovenia, and do it there. We've already purchased the rings form my mom in Italy.

Over here in Australia it seems to be the politicians and the churches that are opposed to gay marriage. The general population (except the older generations) are pretty cool with it here too but we keep having the tired old arguments about marriage between a man and a woman. It is only in the past year or so that gay couples have received the same rights as hetrosexual couples (in terms of de-facto relationships, inheritance, etc).

For a forward thinking nation Australia can be a bit backward in some of its views. I've never understood where politicians get the right to tell people what to do with their personal lives...

I am just too lucky that the church here does not have as much power as it does in some other countries. Of course I don't have problem with people practicing religion, but I have a problem with religion interfering in peoples lives. As for politicians... I don't know what to say. I know how those people work. I had a long relationship with a guy who was in politics, and I can tell you that in order to do that job, you have to be deprived of any sense of humanity. Believe me when I say that there is no such thing as honest and good politician.

You ask for a recipe, and look what happens. :p

I'm sure there's at least one "down home" Greek dish that GoldDustBoy's BF couldn't get while in Aussie. For example, it's impossible to get a good American/broadway style pizza here in NZ.

What did you end up making?

And pizza sounds really good right now.
