Couple get married at 7-year-old son’s funeral
Parents say boy, who died in a N.Y. crash, had been asking them to wed

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The parents of a 7-year-old boy who died after an upstate New York car crash have fulfilled his wish that they get married, and they did it at the child's funeral.

Amilcar Hill and Rahwa Ghirmatizion got married during Monday's funeral service in Buffalo for their son, Asa Hill. Asa died a day after his grandfather's car was involved a chain-reaction highway crash last week.

Hundreds of people packed the church for Asa's funeral. The couple surprised attendees by getting married, which the parents say their son had been asking them to do.

sounds weird but people do strange things in those circumstances.

doesn't mean they are white trash plus those names sound african, I would guess that they are african (native) or at least black.

Although its highly unusual, I think it's a nice gesture. Especially knowing what it meant to their son.

WTF does the subject title have to do with your post? Its not even the slightest bit factually correct, so its not like it can be interpreted as your commentary on the story. So, what gives?

Well i think the term "White Trash Wedding" usually conjures up a visual for most people before they read what the story is about. In this case they happen to be African American so maybe not the best use for the thread title... but I dont think there was harm meant eh Viv?

or maybe Viv is like George Costanza?

Carl the Exterminator: Have we met?

George Costanza: Yeah yeah, you fumigated Jerry Seinfeld's apartment for fleas.

Carl: Jerry Seinfeld... oh yeah! Funny white guy, right?

George: Yes... I suppose he is white! I don't really...see people... in terms of color.

oh ok they don't really use the term here but I know its used in the us. But I thought it was specifically for white people because that's kind of the assumption you would make. Is it like a chav?

the parents & child are african & it seemed too was the whole congregation, they showed them taking their vows on cnn~ so how does the term "white trash wedding" fit here?~

Lighten up people. There is a reason I put the question mark after the heading. Yes the people are Black. Having a wedding at a funeral that was a suprise to the guests might be considered white trash imho.
I have a white friend who tells me all the time she is white trash and she knows it. This is based on her behavior.
So relax all you Ledgies. It's only chit chat after all, not an official press release from the White house.:)

I don't think people are offended so much as we just think the title was ill-conceived. This is strange but it's what the boy wanted. Those poor parents.
