View Full Version : New Herbert Worthington Calendars..

Hey everyone,

In talking with Herbert Worthington last night, he mentioned that he had several people come to ask him about putting together his Calendars for Christmas time, and he was wanting to get a "head count" as he has to pay upfront for them. In the past few years he said that he's paid for too many, and has wasted monies with Calendars just sitting there, and this time, he's trying not to do that. He said the prices will be the same, and I'm posting this on my own Yahoo group, as well as other groups too, to get a rolling head count for him.. I appreciate your help on this..

Hugs,

Arlene

If his calendars would'nt be so ridiculously overpriced they wouldn't be "just sitting there"
I didnt buy the last calendar because I wanted to combine it with the next one, so yes, I would like a new calendar (of PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED pictures that is)

Well, my mom always buys me a horse calender for Christmas... but that can go in my locker among my Stevie pictures because I need a new Stevie calender for the Fleetwood Mac corner of my room! So you can tenatively put me down, because by the time I have to pay for this... I might not have $30. (I have to cough up $40 pretty soon to buy Paramore's new album on vinyl...)

Is he only going to create calanders for the people included in the head count, or will there be a limited number of extras? It's an expensive calander, and, as much as I love them, I need to see what I'm buying before I commit to that price.

Hey Marisa,

He's basically, from what I gathered last night, going to be making a limited number of them this time, as he doesn't have a lot of extra money upfront to pay for a lot to be made, to just sit there, like has happened in the past. I don't know a lot of details yet, like what pictures or anything.. but what I do know, is that we've all pretty much seen his other past calendars- and you can get an idea from his website. His pictures from this year's calendar, as well as the past few are all framable- and are pretty rare- as far as this year's calendar picture with Robin, and a few others. He has used other pictures that we've all seen, which are also really nice...and it's definitely been worth the price he's asked. IMO, 30$ is not that much to pay for all of these pictures, as you have to consider you're getting 12 pictures, each calendar! That breaks down to what, 2 $ plus, per picture? That's not a lot, IMO.. and they are definitely worth it... Has he ever shown us "what we are buying before we order"? Not that I'm aware of... again, he usually just advertises on the "Nicksfix" when his calendar is out for print, and he'll show us what the cover picture is, along with some of the pictures in the background-

I think what he's trying to do for now, is just get a basic "head count" to see how many are definitely interested... I hope this helps..

Arlene

Hey sweetie..

Exactly.. he's never really offered that much of a preview.. so we don't really know until he advertises on the Nicksfix.. so we don't really know what he's going to pick, pictures wise.. I would love to have that happen myself.. but from the past calendar's I've seen, I know they should be good, imo...

I think they are a tad overpriced, but as a FMac/Stevie fan I'm fairly used to it. I have all of his calendars so far and really, really like them so I will likely have no problem getting another one so put me down. besides, I love being able to look up in my office and see Stevie while at work - every month someone comes in to talk about the picture on the calendar - it's a great convo piece!

I have bought all of HW calendars....the best part of them have been the cover photo's and a maybe 3 or 4 others inside....the rest were ehhhhh, I can see why they were never used.

I would probably buy another calendar, but would encourage HW to really dig deep into his vault and put forth a solid calendar with 12 killer photographs. If all he has left are these 3rd rate photos....he shouldn't bother.:sorry:

P.S. If your reading Herbie, I would love to see bigger versions of some of the outtakes we saw in the Crystal Visions packaging & booklet, Esp. for instance the shots from the session done in the late 70's era that the cover was pulled from, or that killer RAL outtake w/ Stevie holding the bird next to the rocking chair and cradle, or even some insane live shots from say 77-83. or the beautiful artwork/photographs that Stevie put out for TISL.......Just my opinion;)

And yes, i forgot to add....
I fully support the release of a beautifully done coffee table book of Stevie (long overdue)....I can see it now, an insane menagerie of majestic photographs chronicling the Queen of Rock featuring all her iconic pictures, images and live stills showcasing her at her most thrilling and awe-inspiring. That would be a book worth buying twice! the only thing better would be if Stevie penned her autobiography and left all the backstabbing, money-grabbing, two-timing, drug abusing details in there.

Hey Jazz

Already been done sweetie, but there's way too much money involved for him to come up with up front, as there are no guarantees that people will want to spend that kind of money to buy one, as people are complaining now, about spending 30$ for a calendar.. I'd personally love to see that one happen myself...

I"d probably get one too....still have to get last yrs though.(I have the others though ) I do hope he does do a wonderful 12 photos est outtakes from BD/WH .....we all know theres tons too. Of course other time periods are always welcomed. I do hope there are some full head to toe shots esp of Stevie & the boots....that would be great!! Color pics too.....I to would love me this 'coffee table book' but yeah I guess the $$ would be the thing....he could always take a head count on whom would purchase that a Stevie coffee book & a Fmac coffee book.......More posters too please....color t-shirts too......(not baby doll ones--I love the pics on those but those shirts sadly I couldn't fit in them--so why purchase them......) anyway......hope he does surprise us all this time.........I do hope he'll keep making them. It was sad that after '85 he just stopped doing it.......just think of all the wonderful pic's we could've seen if more had been released back than.....sad but true........IMO anyway.....:D

Count me in for a new calendar, as well. I also echo those who would love to see a coffee table book. With more than 35 years worth of pictures to draw from, can you imagine what could be in there?

I had the good fortune to speak with Mr. Worthington a year or so ago when I ordered an earlier calendar and some posters. He is a nice guy to talk to, and seems to really appreciate your business. He is also an honest business man. He talked me out of spending money on something that I could never use when I asked about some of the limited edition t-shirts from a couple of years ago. He told me that they were only in womens' styles and sizes. If my wife was a Stevie fan, I would have bought a couple anyway just for being up front with me.

I also gathered from our conversation that he does not have the final say over content, or even the prices he charges for things. I take it that he must comply with Chris Nicks's wishes. I guess Stevie may be the Goddess, but Christopher Nicks rules the empire.

Thanks so much, and you pretty much summed it all up.. LOL.. He's a great person to do business with, and I agree that he doesn't really have the final say over content...I get that too from our conversations as well.. and for those who mention a "coffee table book"- unless you guys are willing to come up with about- (and this is merely a guess) but I'm guessing around 200$ upward, and that would probably need to be paid up front, I don't see it happening. He's explained to me he needs one heck of a lot of money to come up with to have a nice coffee table book made.. and in order to have that happen, he would need to charge a good amount to cover all charges. I would SO love that, as he would have the awesome pictures to put in there.. but I guess all we can do is say some big prayers that maybe down the road they'll have the money to do this..

Wow, seriously? For that kind of cash, it better be a thick book with lots of new photos we have never seen before. But... if it was, I would be willing to buy it only for the sheer collectible factor and it would be a great thing to own. Seriously though, how does all that work? If Stevie kicked in some cash for the project, she would just get some of the proceeds. Damn, you would think it would not be that hard... no brainer Stevie.. just do it. Mix the photos in with her artwork. Seriously... again, no brainer right?

Another Worthington calendar?

I hope it has more out-of-focus concert photos, badly-cropped full-facial portraits, stiffly-posed RAL outtakes where she's wrapped in more drapery than an average Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and photos where she bears a disturbing resemblance to Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner.

I'll buy that for $40, Herbie.

I'd probably pay that for a great coffee table book. why can't he put together a proposal and show to everyone and then take orders through a certain date and then only produce books for those that order. he could work with fans on layout and pictures, etc. - it's a major opportunity...and I'm sure advertising on this site, a few others and Nicksfix as a limited edition...and maybe a couple signed by Stevie would boost sales. anyway, I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I just don't like excuses! :D

Yes, he needs to put together a proposal and get a publishing co. on board for funding for this beautifully bound coffee-table book to seriously see the light of day. And that of course would have to have Stevie and her management heavily involved, as well a publishing house seeing potential profits (which the odds are against) unless Stevie's proposal includes a 2-part book deal, the 1st being a biography of sorts all in photographs featuring all her iconic live and studio images w/ teaser commentary that is a prelude to a salacious and more introspective tell all book. I know what you all are thinking....Dream on silly dreamer

Hey Jazz..

I hear you.. but no money - to do this upfront, is basically bottom line! I don't like excuses either.. but that is a fact. We could propose things to him until the cows come home, but he has to pay people upfront for anything to happen, and unfortunately, Stevie won't sign anything these days at all- with him. Again, I'd love to see this happen.. as I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer.. but just stating what's going on, and facts..

Hey Christopher,

Unfortunately, as I've explained to Jazz.. it's not a part of the big picture for this to happen, unless something major happens with a windfall in his lap, of money. Again, we can try hard to pray it happens, and I'm right there with you, but Stevie just isn't that involved right now at all there. Sounds good tho.. and again, it's our dreams that keep us going.. I love my dreams..and wouldn't give them up for the world..

I'd love to see Herbie's unseen photos from 1974 to mid 1980s. I don't want to see anything after that (when every last ounce of his sense of humor dried right up).

Remember the Museum of Rock Art in Hollywood? Didn't Herb show there for awhile circa 1984?

Hey Alexa..

I'm here.. LOL.. The last time I spoke to Herbie he did say he was working on getting these done, but I haven't heard back from him in a few weeks! I need to give him a call and find out what's up on these and keep you all posted...

So considering 2010 will be here on Friday, I'm assuming there will be no calendar/it will be late?
Any new news for us, Arlene?

What a bummer. I need a new calendar! Guess I'm out of luck, as I can't find anything on Ebay either.

I have purchased every single one of them so the answer is a very emphatic YES!!!!!! I emailed him about 2 months ago to ask if he was doing a calendar for 2010 and never heard back. I hope he goes through with it!! I don't care what the cost is!!!

Maybe in may/june he's going to release a 2010-2011 calendar?
