View Full Version : From What Era Do You Think We See The Greatest Change In Stevie's Looks

Musicman408

I was thumbing through some photos and couldn't help how much Stevie's appearance changed between say 1986 through 1989. If you compare a shot from that first year with the latter, there are a lot of differences in my opinion.

So what do you think? Which era do you think we see the greatest physical change in Stevie's looks?

My vote: OSOTM

2001/2 - now.

Comparing the pictures, I don't think she's aged that much. She just looks more like Carrie Fisher.

I had thought that too but on buckinghamnicks.net it said it was from tusk, so ill give it the benefit of the doubt that that was from early on in the tusk tour, thanks for the praise too

Fabulous photo collage, Chris!

Stevie 1981-1983 is my favorite - words cannot describe how pretty she is!

Gausehfawejfuahrg .... can this woman get any more amazing? I think not.

Oh no... I totally read the title of this thread wrong. I got all excited and thought it said what was your favorite era of Stevie... crap. Oh well, this could be the era that didn't change too much (solo 1981 Stevie and solo 1983 Stevie really aren't too different.)

:sorry: about ruining your thread here lol but I had to post these fabulous pictures!

What a fantastic collage! That pic that you have down as Tango In The Night is one I've never seen before! 8th in the collage, 2nd row, 2nd pic from left... What is that from? I had to look more than twice to make sure it was actually her! She looks so different than how she normally does in pics from that era. Where's the crazy hair?!

Brilliant pics.

Yeah I love BN.net but it's not the best when it comes to dating pics. Stevie looked much different from 83 - 86. That RAL pic you have is really Wild Heart. Like others said, the Tusk one is really rumours. I'm not convinced that the Mirage pic is really Mirage. Looks more tusk to me. Look at that hair.

It would be nice to see a stage pic from Tango...Stevie sure didn't look like that for more than a few days in 1987. It would be cool if one of the experts could show some differences between 87 tour and 88. Also 1990 is left out in there.

It would be nice if Stevie held up a little date on all her pics so we know exactly when they all are! ;)

I had no idea! How strange that they chose to re-release that one. Were any other singles re-released for Timespace? Maybe different ones in different territories? I thought one of theew tracks was the single? This is interesting, does anyone know more about this?

I know,it drives me nuts when I can't identify a picture with a year or worse yet, a picture is incorrectly identified!! I'll have to dig through my pics but yes, a big transformation took place from the beginning of the Tango tour and the end. Same with Behind the Mask. Stevie put on some serious weight and/or bloating during that tour. She looked completely different at the end than she did in the beginning.

. She just looks more like Carrie Fisher.

Don't laugh...have you ever seen Stevie & Carrie Fisher in the same place at the same time?? NO!!

I think Carrie Fisher IS "Stevie Nicks"...the real Stevie Nicks ceased to exist sometime in the late 80's.

I put every major tour (except for 2007, Crystal Visions is represented in 2008) I added that pic from 1996 for good measure since there was a transition period between Street Angel and The Dance that I thought was important to note.

I think even into the late 80s, she still had a trace of the old Stevie in her face. The girlishness is still there when she smiles, despite that crazyass hair.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I don't even remember where I got mine, so I'm not sure if it was a US release or an import. The "I Can't Wait" single from Timespace has 4 tracks:

I Can't Wait (Timespace version)
Edge of Seventeen (Live)
I Can't Wait (12" version)
Sleeping Angel

I always thought she looked terrible at Bill Clintons inauguration, everybody always talks about her weight in 1994 with street angel, but she looked worse at the clinton thing in my opinion- fast forward to 1997 and the dance - what a difference, I think that is the BIGGEST change.

yeah, she was heavy during SA but her face was beautiful and clear. I agree with you about her looking her WORST at the Clinton Inaguration. Her face was so bloated...really bad.

I went to that Mulholland Tomorrow gig in Universal City in early fall 1985. It was the first I'd seen Stevie live since the Wild Heart tour in October 1983. MTV showed her in 1984 for "Women of Rock," but she looked her old self there. So when I saw her onstage at Universal, I was amazed at the physical transformation. It was like middle age hit her -- WHAM. Big ol' gal in a trenchcoat & puffy from what seems to have been booze.

She was GREAT! Rock a Little had BEGUN!

She changed very much during all those years, sure, but I think that her look change fastest during 1990 (from good to bad-look).
Here are some photos where, I think, she looks great.

you're right David! All her girlish charm was gone by RAL. She was still smokin hot but in far more mature way. I also think the weight gain had a little something to do with it. She was also a lot more covered up during the RAL years. I don't think I've seen one live pic from RAL with her upper arms exposed.

I wouldn't know, as I wasn't around then so obviously hadn't seen her live or anything, but had she really gained that much weight around "Rock A Little"? Obviously, by looking at pictures from "The Wild Heart" era and then fast-forwarding to 1985, she had put on a little bit of weight, but I've never found it to be significant. Not like say, 1988.

This is a really interesting topic. It's really wild seeing the pictures too, from white album to now, chronologically. To me she changed most with Other Side of the Mirror. Rock a Little was different, but when I look at promo photos, and stills from the Talk to Me video, and some live photo from that tour, there are still lots of the shawls and such.

Actually, 1987 to late 90's, it seemed the most style change. Like the black dress she wears to the awards event on mtv and wears it on stage. That seemed to me, the most different look, when I saw the Tango concert video for the first time, thinking about how much of a change it was just not having Lindsey there, but then also looking at the whole look of the video, the whole atmosphere. The outfits were very different from past.

Many of the dresses and the outfits from Other Side of the Mirror were quite a change too. No more leotards and sheer chiffon and shawls, but more designed whole outfits, and the bustier and skirts and "dusters" and such, and big shoulder pads. It got more "designer" than "thrown together." But her "thrown together" was stylish too. I miss it a lot, but it's probably easier for her these days not having to worry if anything's "showing" or any of that. It's still more of designed, planned pieces now, rather than mix and match, anything goes, and it did go. It looked beautiful. But it's probably all in the past now. Luckily she takes out some old, classic shawls still. :)

You know, I never thought of it this way- good point. I also think they became to look more like costumes and less like a personal style.

I've always kind of thought her late 80s look was almost a caricature of the 'Stevie Nicks style'. I'm not keen on the big shoulder pads and even bigger hair, but I guess we have Joan Collins' influence on that era to blame for that!

I love the thrown together look (but she probably spent a good amount of time putting things together to achieve that effect :p). I really like her look nowadays too, she looks classy and chic but there's still a rock edge.
