For this performance we are listed as "The Donna Lee Band" alternatively we often play as the Crooked Ledge Band. As the project develops, we will come up with a more specific name. We have toyed with a title for the show - something like: "Mystery to Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac" - just becuase I like that album.

Our free show on saturday went very well. There are still tickets for Saturday's event in West Springfield, MA. What a trip it is to play this music. The audience reaction is fantastic - gypsies swaying to the beat. It's a mystical transformation.

Joe is a B3 guy but doesn't make us carry that around. I first started using him as a pianist for a Patsy Cline Tribute show. When Donna Lee (our lead female vocals) started kicking around the idea of a FM show, he wanted in. I never heard him play organ until I got him in the recording studio. He blew me away - he learned to play keys on a Hammond. He is also an excellent drummer - in fact his first instrument.

I heard an ad for this on the radio. Too expensive. $28.00 tickets.

I'm kind of tickled that you heard the ad - I still haven't actually heard it on the air. I will have some events to list soon that you may find more affordable. This show has been a little expensive to produce - I have an opening act, a belly dance troupe, radio and press advertising and 8 members of the band to pay. Big productions need a bigger budget. I do have a few things in the works and will post them as soon as the dates are firm.

Interesting question - Donna Lee actually does both female lead vocals. This is one of those fine points of distinction - we aren't Fleetwood Mac impersonators, we are a "tribute band". We play thier music but we don't try to "be" them. Donna Lee's stage outfits are patterned after Stevie Nicks but she sings both vocal parts. Similarly, our lead male vocalist, Kyle Ray doesn't play guitar, our lead guitarist does sing a couple songs - Blue Letter in saturday's upcoming show - but isn't the lead. Our keyboard player is a huge Christie fan but he doesn't have the look.....
Our approach comes from listening to their recordings but also a lot of time studying youtube videos to see how they have approached things live. It's kind of weird - this is one of the most rewarding and best sounding bands I've played with and I've worked professionally in music for over 30 years. I've found that Fleetwood Mac fans are just as dedicated and more fun than Grateful Dead fans (sorry deadheads...) - maybe I just prefer leather and lace to tie dye......
