This year for Halloween (yes, this is early), I've finally convinced my mom to let me go all out on Stevie clothes. I'm going to end up wearing them a LOT more often than she thinks.... so I want to make sure I have the perfect outfit with the perfect accessories from the perfect era.
There's a good chance I'll get something custom made or, at the very least, specialized to be more Stevie-esque. I LOVE the dress she wears in the Rhiannon Rosebud video, especially with the open back.
Do you guys have specific Stevie styles that you like the most? Post em! I need as many ideas as I can get. Also, if there are any good sites to buy Stevie-inspired clothing, let me know.

I always loved this Rhiannon look:

I absolutely love that look, and if I was going to dress like Stevie for Halloween that is definitely the look I would want. Classic Rhiannon Stevie.
She's actually wearing a black leotard (with the open back like that) and she just puts on skirts/dresses, shawls, etc layered. She wears that black leotard in at least a couple of the early tours (White Album and Rumours at least).
I really want to get a black leotard. I took dance classes (ballet, jazz, tap) from age 2 until I was about 13. I'm 19 now and I miss it.
Here's some Stevie clothes:

Oh, dear.
I myself have been looking at that website I posted -- it is dangerous there.
I find myself saying "Ooh, I want that! And that! Oh, and that too!"
I totally want to be Stevie for Halloween. For the next 100 Halloweens. :)
Danielle, you'll have to keep us updated on what all you get to complete your look!

This is going to be SO HARD to do... the decision making is difficult enough! I adorethe picture that Viv posted but I want people to look at me instantly and be like, "oh, you're Stevie Nicks." I feel like I have to do black to do that.
Thank you for telling me about the leotard-- maybe I can have bat wings and a skirt sewn on and then do black tights, short platform boots and black legwarmers over? Oh and a crescent moon necklace. Duh.
I'm gonna look a lot like her... I'm planning on lightening my hair up again for the beginning of fall to a light brown (I'm naturally really dark brown, almost black). My hair can totally do that crazy frizzy wavy thing really easily and there ya go-- I'm Stevie-ified. :)
This is going to be so freakin' fun.

Bingo. But probably black.... or white? GAHHH what do I want to do?! Obviously huge platform boots would be ideal but if they're all gonna cost an arm and a leg to even remotely look like Stevie's....

That's cool that you're going to dress up as Stevie for Halloween.:D
I've always wanted to do that but I would be anal and would have to have everything exactly the same as Stevie's clothing lol. That and I can't afford it.
Anyways, here's what I came up with. I hope this helps!
For the top I'd say get this one with "black with sheer sleeves" and either "Xlong" or "Super Rhiannon Length".
http://stores.enchantedmirror.com/-strse-690/Rhiannon-Velvet-Top-Huge/Detail.bok
For the skirt;
http://stores.enchantedmirror.com/-strse-684/Double-Layer-Chiffon-Hanky/Detail.bok
In "black solid chiffon"
For the leotard;
http://www.dance4less.com/204_fancy_back_leotards.htm
http://www.allaboutdance.com/Jozette-for-Mirella-Pleated-Camisole-Leotard-MJ7105?sc=2&category=142
http://www.allaboutdance.com/Mirella-Camisole-Leotard-with-Mesh-Trim-MI7203LM?sc=2&category=142
Basicly any camisole leotard with a "sweetheart" or "V" neckline and an open or criss-cross back.
Boots;
http://stores.enchantedmirror.com/-strse-813/Custom-Made-Stevie-Suede/Detail.bok
They're expensive but true-to-Stevie boots.

(get rid of the fur)

(hide the plaid somehow lol)
For the pantyhose, wear any in black or tights.
Scarf:

Top hat:

http://www.hatsinthebelfry.com/product/madhatter-top-hat-belfry-john-bull-hibwf567.html
Don't forget the makeup:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22cp__RWBF0
As you can see from the video, you need:
-Foundation and powder or just powder over entire face
-Gray (for the entire lid) and black or dark gray eyeshadow (for the crease and also lower lashline)
-Black eyeliner pencil (for upper and lower lashline, the black eyeshadow goes over the black eyeliner on the lower lashline)
-Black mascara
-False eyelashes and 1-3 coats of black mascara, or just mascara
-Red-gold or red lipstick
-Dark peach or dark pink blush
-or-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL2TrF43zuA&feature=related
It looks like she uses a cover stick as a base for her eyes.
You will need:
-Foundation and powder or just powder over entire face
-Cover stick
-Mascara
-Black eyeliner pencil
-Dark brown eyeshadow
-Dark brown eyeliner pencil
It looks like she takes the eyeliner pencil (dark brown or black) and draws it on the crease and then blends it in or blends dark brown eyeshadow over it.Line lower lashline.
I've tried it and it comes out the way she does it in both videos.

There are no words to describe how thankful I am for that post! SO helpful! And it got me even more excited to piece all of this together and get the perfect Stevie look going :)
Again-- thank you, thank you, thank you!
At this point, I think I've gotta "go big or go home" on this one.... I want those boots. Badly. I'm glad I started thinking about this in July for the sake of making sure it all comes together just how I want it to.
Just one general question-- with the top and the leotard, will the open back be visible? Or will the top cover that? Because I LOVE the Rhiannon top and I'm trying to either figure out a way to make the back visible while still incorporating the top... or I need to abandon the bare back idea.
Also, I see you are relatively new to the Ledge-- welcome! Please post whenever you can!

I'm not sure what top you're getting, but usually the back was covered (or she was wearing a sheer top so you could see thru it).
I'd say black tights, black leotard, Rhiannon top with bell sleeves, some sort of hankerchief/layered black skirt, a shawl, a top hat (if you want), and you've gotta get yourself some platform boots. And leg warmers. For sure.
I want to see how it all looks finished!!

I don't have a skirt for this anymore, but this is my "Rhiannon" shirt. I got it at Hot Topic back in 2000 for a party. It's an XL but since I have put on weight I can't fit into it anymore without being paranoid about tearing it. But it's a women't XLG and I thought about selling it on ebay for 20.00. I bought it for 40 at the time. It's mixed with velvet and silky/satin. It is comfortable to wear, but if you're overweight like me and you try to squeeze into it your arms will start to hurt because you can't bend them. LOL! The sleeves are like three quarter and the rest of it as you can see in the picture hang low. If anyone is interested in this shirt let me know and I will post it to ebay.

There's a lot of Stevie-ish things at my favorite store, Forever 21. I found a totally AWESOME black chiffon skirt there, but it was too short, and expensive. :/
Here are some Stevie-ish things that I've found:
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=dailyspecial&product%5Fid=2058085872&Page=1
$29.80 w/o shipping, and it looks like a dress from either the Bella Donna or Wild Heart era... atleast I think so!

You may want to be careful when buying from a couple of those online stores, as some people have had bad experiences. One in particular there's an achingly long thread about.
If you can find someone you know to make the clothes instead I'd advise that instead of buying online imo. Also it's worth looking on the high street too, I've seen lots of Stevie-esque clothes out there at the moment.
Hmmmm I gotta find that thread before I go blow copious amounts of money on this place... thanks for the warning!

I'm sure if you order the Rhiannon top with sheer sleeves the back will be see-thru.At least that's the way it looks in the picture with the white top.The black one says "jersey sleeves", the white one says "sheerer sleeves" and you can see through the shirt in the back.
http://stores.enchantedmirror.com/-strse-690/Rhiannon-Velvet-Top-Huge/Detail.bok
I wouldn't get this one because the sleeves look too short IMO and you can't select the sleeve length.
http://stores.enchantedmirror.com/-strse-705/Rhiannon-Skirt-%26-Top/Detail.bok
There are some pictures of customers and the sleeves on this girls top look too short.

If you can't find anything, you might have to make it yourself or find a seamstress to make it for you.
I hope you can find what you're looking for. :)

You could put together such an amazing Stevie outfit for Halloween (or Night of a Thousand Stevies or whatever other dress-up parties) on that Enchanted Mirror website. Dang.
I would totally go all out if I could.

Yeah, this is my big problem. I refuse to do this if I can't go all out and my parents aren't going to help me. Sooo every dime I earn between now and late August is dedicated to this. Seriously. This rarely comes out of my mouth BUT thank God I'm a minor so they can pay for everything else for a little while :)

Most people recognize Stevie in black.
I was Stevie one Halloween and I opted for all black: chiffon skirt, ankle boots, leg warmers, long black shawl, rhinestone earrings and top hat. I was probably a cross between RAL and Tango Stevie. Most people knew instantly who I was supposed to be. Just my two cents.

I couldn't agree with you more. When I used to dress as her I was always sweating to death by the end of the night. The last time I performed as her was in 1992. I won $100.00 in a contest that night. I performed Stand Back, Smile at You (Angry Version) and Rooms On Fire.I had to cut the dress off of me with scissors!
I don't remember ever dressing as Stevie for Halloween because i was usually doing that style on most of the other days of the year. It takes time and searching but you can easily pull it together from many current stores and some homemade ingenuity. Anyway, hope you have a blast!

Okay, so I am still gonna push for the custom platform boots. Yet considering I have to buy $1600 custom boots for horses within the next few weeks (rule of thumb: when you fall off, make sure not to land on top of a jump), I don't know if its going to be possible.
I was thinking I could maybe get the black Rhiannon skirt on enchantedmirror.com and then have a seamstress put black chiffon sleeves on a leotard with a low back. Then I'll do black tights, short boots that are as similar to Stevie's as humanly possible and black legwarmers.
Good/bad? Help! I don't want to do the classic "Rhiannon" look with the enchantedmirror.com stuff without the tall platform boots so I guess I'm aiming for the Bella Donna look but in black.
If you wanna do the Rosebud look, you gotta have the jewelry. This (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26285642&ref=sr_gallery_5&&ga_search_query=mood+ring&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title) screams Stevie. If that dress was a little shorter and more layered in the skirt, it would be perfect. Thanks for posting!
I'm currently boot shopping like you couldn't believe... So far, the only tall suede platform boots I have found that remotely resemble Stevie's are: http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=175037&parent_category_rn=175013&productId=1305388&langId=-1

Soooo regarding that top pair-- are those similar enough? Or should I find short ones and do legwarmers? I am going to be REALLY picky about the accuracy of what I wear... I want to be as precise as possible.
Etsy has some Stevie-esque boots:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29154077&ref=sr_gallery_14&&ga_search_query=knee+high+boots&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes - too disco? I don't know if it's possible to cover them with suede or something instead of the denim.

Dani, if you're looking for some cheap-ish authentic looking boots, all you need to do is walk down Hollywood Boulevard. There's TONS of shoe stores with platform stripper boots in the windows! I didn't go in any, but I'm SURE you can find some Stevie boots.

At this point, I might have to freakin' fly down there and actually do that... I have looked through every platform boot on the entire internet database and I found one reasonable pair-- only to find that they are totally out of stock. :(
I'm getting the Stevie custom platforms from enchantedmirror, yet I have to do it after Halloween (I'll just wear them next year!).
OMG that sucks hardcore!!! Even if I had the money to buy a pair of platforms... I really don't think I'd be able to walk in them. I still trip in heels.
In Seventeen, I saw a pair of platforms, but they had a whole bunch of buckles on them. So I looked up the site, only to find that they were made by Carlos Sanatana! (Which it said in the magazine, I just happened to look over it ) He has boots that looked Stevie-ish, so I clicked on them to find that they're snakeskin. Oh well, you can have a look at his site anyways, and see if he's got anything better.

I have been doing nonstop work in order to earn these things. My parents aren't going to loan me any money to buy them, but they will pay me to do their dirty work. Sooo even though I won't be ready for Halloween, they'll come later-- and I BETTER be able to walk in them :)

Also, if there are any good sites to buy Stevie-inspired clothing, let me know.
i like Dance Rhiannon Stevie
i know, im in the waaaaaaaaay minority
but if im here for halloween
i cant be stevie
i need something to allow me to be totally inconspicuous
on another note, what do u reckon Stevie likes to dress up as for Halloween?

White witch?
I don't know what she is either. But there's definitely a Halloween where's she's a witch. It's in Mick's book, he captions it as her being 'the most beautiful witch he'd ever seen'.

I always thought she was supposed to be a Banshee. I love the pictures where she's definately a witch but she's just wearing a hat and cape over her jeans and shirt. The modern witch doesn't have time for the full regalia.

I seriously need to do French homework, so I'll post them tomorrow. Marissa approved, though, so I think it'll be okay-- I called her freaking out from the store :)
They are really decorative on the top but with leg warmers, they will be PERFECT. Plus, I think I'm taking them in to a boot professional to cover them in suede and get them taller.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

They are beautiful, and if you get them covered in suede, they're going to be an exact match.

I am still freaking out about that. Please make that happen. The mysterious, ethereal holiday TOGETHER..... words cannot describe.
Anyway here they are:
http://i25.tinypic.com/2qtk01s.jpg
They come halfway up my calf and the top is hideous. BUT the shape of the platform is perfect which is really all that matters. I'm taking them to a boot guy tomorrow and getting a price quote from him. I'll take that bow off for sure and possibly get them covered in black suede. I might even get them extended to knee length if its possible, in which case I might have really, really legit boots.
Either way, I found a pair that seems promising! I was flipping out for a while.

Wow, those will be fantastic for your Halloween costume! Awesome.
You're right, the shape is the only thing that matters because you can cover them or wear leg warmers and be fine!
I can't wait to see all this together. You're gonna be stylin' ;)

When you have something specific in mind, I know how impossible it is to find it anywhere. So, congratulations.
Hey, as long as the look is right, it won't even matter how sore your feet will be when Halloween is over!

I literally spent a full eight hours driving from store to store everywhere between Gilroy and Palo Alto last Sunday and TWO full days in San Francisco on Monday and Tuesday-- all of this in search for a pair. I'm glad you understand the type of pain I was in!
I think that even as is, legwarmers will make these boots look pretty legitimate. Fingers crossed!

When I see those, I think of the boots she wore in the black and white picture with Fleetwood Mac that was inside the TITN album. They were not her normal towers, and had a narrower heel. These are cool looking boots, and if in velvet they are 99% close to Stevie realness. (though Stevie realness is all just a state of mind. In my time, I've achieved realness in my mind with a sheer curtain panel, or lace tablecloth)

Nope. I have to find someone willing to do it... I've gone to like, 4 shoe places and so far I have no luck. I might head out again today and try...
PS Maris, no phone (since I know you're wondering already hahahahaha). Long story. I get it back this weekend and I'll text you the second I have it.

Thrift stores = love. I found a pair of platforms for $20. :DDD They come up just below my knee and they're brown (fake) leather. But once I get new legwarmers, they will work. And I'm so wearing them next week for one of the theme days of Homecoming.
