Oregon Marine gravely wounded, losing both legs after bombing in Afghanistan
by Julie Sullivan, The Oregonian
Tuesday July 07, 2009, 10:00 PM
Lembke's parents flew to Germany and then to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland on June 28. Lembke has had surgery nearly every other day since and remains on a ventilator to back up his breathing. He has remained heavily sedated.
His parents and sister, who are staying at the military lodging nearby, have taped photos in his ICU room. Singer Stevie Nicks visited, leaving an iPod with her favorite music for him and lotions for his mom.

Omg, Stevie is such a genuinely nice person, don't you guys think? She is so awesome for doing that. I mean, it's like, she really, really does want to do something to help and she obviously can't bring them all home or physically help them, so she figures out a way to help the best way she knows how. I love that girl, she rocks!
Sometimes, as corny and cheesy as it sounds, I wish there was something that, we, as fans could do for her that already hasn't been done. She can buy or have whatever she wants, but it would be so cool if we could do something for her to return all the great things she's done for us.
We need to COME TOGETHER as The Ledgies and make this happen. We need to pull off something emotional like that ps22 chorus thing, lol. Suggestions?

She probably doesnt need or want anything from her fans. if anything, I would imagine Stevie would want "us" to donate to a charity in her name. ;)

I agree. I think she'd be very happy if people would give what they could to her iPod for soldiers thing. She accepts donations through John Kinney at the nix fix. Also, it might not seem like anything, but I think just the fact that we go to FM and Stevie concerts and give all our energy and adoration (not to mention our hard earned money) to her that way means a lot to her.

The reason why the PS22 chorus was so emotional was because they weren't trying to be. You can't recreate something like that. Whatever people choose to do, it's important to remember you'll probably never get any kind of acknowledgment from Stevie herself. Around 1986 or so, when I was a teenager, I found a beautifully illustrated version of Beauty and the Beast. I decided I would send it to Stevie, and inscribed something on the inside, I don't remember what I wrote, but it was probably very corny. I sent it to Stevie c/o Warner Brothers Records. I was really excited and thought that I'd hear back from someone, but never did. The moral of the story is that if you are going to do anything, do it because it's a nice gesture and not because you hope Stevie will find out and shower you with thanks, otherwise you'll most likely be disappointed.

We could sign a petition to get Stevie Nicks on a postage stamp, honoring her charity for the wounded vets.

Doesn't she have to be dead first?

Doesn't she have to be dead first?Oh, I had no idea. I guess it might be true, in which case it's a little early for Stevie Nicks to appear on a stamp.

She is doing such a great thing with the soldiers. Most of the "newer" rock -gals probably don't even realize there is a war going on....sad, but true

I got it. Let's bake Stevie a cake, a big one, and have a Ledge party close to her house and all sit outside her gates with the cake and chant "Rhiannon" til she comes out.....oh....no one wants to do that? lol. Just kidding. I was only being half serious about actually "doing something" for Stevie. I don't want to be showered with thanks for Stevie, thats not what I want. I just wish there was something we could to to really let her know we care. I wish that she could really get a sense of what she means to our lives, not just as a whole, but individually. Like, if there was a way she could spend like a day with a humble fan or something(me, haha) and see what she's done for us. She seems us in the audience, but she doesn't get to know us the way that we think we know her.
Sorry, I'm just rambling, you guys. No one take me seriously. It's just a thought, it's not going to happen.

You must be dead for at least 5 years (unless you're a United States president). So, there are two ways to make your case:
1. Get Stevie elected president in 2012
2. Argue that the 8 Klonopin years technically qualify as death.
