His part of Mitch in "A Street Car Named Desire" was sublime.

It would very hard for any actor not to be 100% percent eclipsed by the supernova of talent known as Vivien Leigh in this scene. Yet, KM was not IMO because he played it to perfectly subtle that he complimented her and was, therefore, back in it.

She's my favorite actress of all time, and was an incredible talent. Incompetent, my foot. The Oscars and Tony awards she won were given to her due to her nothingness, I'm sure.

Maybe he 's getting her confused with the worst film "actress" of all time .One Madonna Louise Ciccione?

Well Vivian did struggle with bi-polar disorder which I think actually helped contribute to the intensity of some her performances.she may not have been the most versatile of actresses but she was the perfect choice for Scarlett IMHO..plus who could argue that she was a stunning beauty in her time?

Better she than a Yankee

Well Bette Davis who was up for the role , was a Yankee and of course she could have pulled it off..although lookswise she was no where near Vivian's league.Another Yankee who was apparently considered was Kate Hepburn but Selznick was said to have responded"how could anyone believe that Clark Gable would chase after her for 30 years?" harsh:lol:

Oh yeah ..some of them were laughable ie. a teenaged Lana Turner .I actually think Paulette Goddard was quite good and I believe she came close to getting the role until Leigh turned up at the final hour.

^^
I thought I read somewhere that the last minute casting of Leigh was made up for dramatic flair. Her showing up as they were burning "Atlanta" aka the 1933 King King set made for a good story. She had been picked earlier. She would film GWTW and Olivier would film Wuthering Heights. I also thought Goddard would have been a good choice.
