Finally, we see the debut of this gorgeous song. I don't think Stevie is going to let this one just sit in the vault, I truly believe that she will release it when she has the time to fully commit to it. For Stevie to do something so rare as premiering a new song on a "greatest hits" tour is very promising, and judging by the audiences' reaction, she knows everyone wants this song!

Maybe she'll record it for iTunes or something.
Or "More Crystal Visions."
("Crystal Double Visions"?)

This could be such an awesome song if released.

Thank You so much whoever recorded this. And thank you Stevie for that AWSEOME 20 second performance. She sings thos danmed words with so much effort and feeling, the best is the way she sings "Feathers and Lace" Its such a stark contrast to how she warbles through a song like Rhiannon. It's weird how excited that 20 seconds has me. 6 years since i've heard new words written by Stevie has us all really thirsty. If that 20 seconds has me this excited a whole album would maybe send me into cardiac arrest.

It's funny you mention Crystal Visions, because according to Stevie, she was going to put this song on there, but pulled it because she didn't feel it was ready to be released yet.

I don't. If it wasn't ready, it wasn't ready. I just think people are thirsty for new material, but it's worth waiting for if it's something really meaningful, like this song. I think it will knock everyone off their feet when it does come out, and it'll be used to help out the city in the right way.
With all the hype that the song has built up since she first mentioned it 2 years ago, that will only help the song sell better when it is finally released, and it will be able to better help the city if everyone is biting at the bit to buy it.

I didn't say anything negative about the song, I just voiced my fears about it being released, and you responded with a bitchy, sarcastic post. Personally I think that's mean.

I didn't think it was. There are folks on here who have said a lot worse to me about looking at things in a positive light. If you were that offended, i apologize, but it just seems these threads can get steered in a new direction if people start to look at the glass half empty.

You don't think writing sarcastic posts to a simple opinion is offensive? Fine.
And so what if people have said a lot worse to you? I've personally never said anything to you. Apparently you think it's terrible to be negative towards Stevie but it's okay to act that way towards other Ledgies.

Wow, one simple response to one simple opinion, and all of a sudden, i'm being persecuted? You are offended by one little simple sarcastic comment...Come'on, just move on already. You act as if i made a degrading disrespectful comment and used offensive language. I mean, really? And now i'm acting a certain way towards Ledgies? Ohh man...

Finally, we see the debut of this gorgeous song.
How do you know if it's a gorgeous song if all we've heard are 20 seconds of a shaky, live, a cappella performance? I'm not trying to be a 'negative nancy' at all, I just haven't heard enough of the song to make a judgement. The tiny fragment of lyrics I heard sounded a bit hokey to me, but I can't call the entire song hokey because I haven't heard it :) .
I do hope the song finds light of day though, in whatever fashion, because it clearly means a lot to Stevie. She's been talking about it for years, and whenever Stevie feels really confident about a song, I think that's a really great thing . I think that's why there are a big contingency of 'negative nancy's' in the Stevie/Mac world these days... we all feel she has a lot to share, but she just isn't giving those songs a vehicle to see the light of day.

I might be inclined to agree. It could have added new material to CV, which was sorely lacking. And it could have been a single. Possibly with the whole Katrina/NO situation fresher in the minds of the world, it could have garnered a good amount of attention, and spurred fresh confidence in Stevie, resulting in more new music (which she seems to lack confidence in making currently). Hopefully she'll have another Tom Petty/That Made Me Stronger type epiphany, gain confidence, and get back to recording new material. It could be Mac or solo at this point, I just want to hear from an old friend again :wavey:.

Ugh...i knew someone else was going to use my own words against me. I was going by the passion in her voice, and i love her delivery of these lines. Like someone else said before, there was more passion in her voice here than in some of her greater versions of Rhiannon...or something along those lines.

I completely agree with you here. Stevie has a huge backlog of unreleased songs that if she released even in their most infantile form, we'd all be more than thrilled with, but she just hasn't yet.

Haha, bane of the existence of message boards :). I absolutely can respect and like the passion in her voice here. She's given up a lot of that passion in her classic material, so it certainly is refreshing to hear that aspect again. She got a pretty wild response from the crowd, so I can only hope that will give her the confidence booster to find a way to get this tune recorded .

Don't worry, this song will see a release on the upcoming Cyrus' "Miley & Stevie,

At about the :11 sec mark, where she sings "I wanna wear feathers & lace" her voice gets just a little deeper and vibratto for the "& lace" part in a way that is so uniquely Stevie. Sometimes I can get on the bashing bandwagon when I think I'm all fed up with this fandom and then I will hear a little snippet of something new like that part in the song, and all of a sudden I remember why I have loved her for so long. No one sings quite like her-and when she's good, like this little acapella or surprises like Call On Me For Magic-she is really good!

p.s. does anyone catch all the lyrics she sings here? can you post them here if you do? or do we have the full lyrics anywhere? thx

well, calling this gorgeous based on this crappy vid IS very odd. After hearing the audio in Brian's thread in the Rumoursforum, I must say it sounds very pretty. But it is definately no song. It's a verse. With the wrong melodyline in a chorus, bridge or verse it can easily be butchered.
Oh in a positive view: with a gorgeous chorus, bridge or verse this can easily be gorgeous.

Sounds like:
I want to sing in the streets of the French Quarter
I want to dress up, I want to wear beads, I want to wear feathers and lace
I want to brush by the vampires that go down Bourbon Street

No. I think she got the idea from Tom Petty. After all she did cover the song herself: All the vampires walking through the valley......

hey guys...the vampire reference is about the l8 niters who do walk around in capes in new orleans...they are known as vampires by the locals...i thought it was cool that stevie was aware of this and put it in her song which i really like btw...i think it would have been a mistake to put it on crystal visions as that was all the videos from her career and this song is new...it deserves to be put on a new album or at the very least as a single on itunes...hugs pat

Well, we all know she was at the premier for Interview With a Vampire, and I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if she were and Anne Rice fan. I wouldn't think it'd be a stretch at all the she was referencing that. It was the first thing that came to my mind actually.

I, too, think she is referencing Anne Rice's work. The vampire in Petty's song has nothing to do with NOLA. Anne Rice's loved and lived there and the city is famous for it and that image.

Have you been past the house lately? The new owner painted it BEIGE! BEIGE!:mad::mad: I've never gotten into the vampire series, but the Witching Hour series is like the Bible to me... I've read them at least a dozen times, all 3000 pages .

I really love TWH too... it captures all aspects of NOLA better than any book I've read set there (all classes, and parts of town OTHER than the Quarter). And of course anything witch or southern gothic related, I'm all over! :D I can imagine NOLA was quite glorious to live in! I just love it's very gritty, soulful nature... I currently live in the BEIGE antithesis of that: Charlotte, North Carolina .
