TORONTO (AP) -- Police have charged the tour manager of the Black Eyed Peas with assault after he allegedly punched celebrity blogger Perez Hilton outside a Toronto nightclub.

Hilton said he got into an argument with band members Fergie and will.i.am at the Cobra nightclub early Monday morning and was punched outside by Polo Molina, the band's tour manager. They were at the club following a Sunday night video awards show.

Molina turned himself in and has been charged with assaulting Hilton, Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella said. Molina is due in court Aug. 5.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, complained about the incident on the microblogging site Twitter. He tweeted at 4 a.m.: "I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

Hilton, who is openly gay, said in interview with The Associated Press that he called will.i.am a "faggot," a gay slur, inside the club after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site.

"He was like 'You need to respect me.' He was in my face. He was obviously trying to intimidate me and scare me," Hilton said. "I was like 'I don't need to respect you. I don't respect you and I did say this, and I knew that it would be the worst thing I could possibly say to him because he was acting the way he was. I said 'You know what, I don't respect you and you're gay and stop being such a faggot.'"

Will.i.am said in a video posting on dip.dive.com that he came to Hilton with respect and was called a "faggot."

Hilton, who was at the club with Lady Gaga, said he then left the club and was punched from behind. The pop stars and the blogger were among celebrities in Toronto for the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night.

A spokeswoman for the Black Eyed Peas declined comment.

What is sort of ironic is because many people hate Perez Hilton, they will not see any side but the side that concludes that Perez Hilton deserved it. They will not entertain the possibility that the other side started it, continued it, and concluded it with violence. Such is life. Interestingly, the other side likely will face criminal charges and a potential civil suit, with Perez Hilton prevailing as words alone rarely is ever justify physical violence.

This is my own ignorance, but does Canada have 911?

And, I think PH actually called the police and was just commenting to document it, which he said he was going. The above article does not go into it nor does it quote the tweets.

On edit - I think PH's cite is okay. I have no real opinion on him personally.

Some places do, but in smaller cities we have to send out smoke singles so the dogsled ambulance teams can come get us.

As long as there is something

Seriously, I was more interested in whether the actual digits dialed were 911.

In America, 911 is a fukcing scam. Every phone line here pays at least $1.50 for the service. So, in a place like Atlanta, that is about $250 million a year. It cannot cost that much to run that. So, someone somewhere is making like $200 million a year - fukcers

This is my own ignorance, but does Canada have 911?lol course. Every country has an emergency hotline don't they? It's 000 over here and was 999 back home but I think most places direct 112 to the emergency number because that's the common one that's used as a standard in europe.

Yes Canada has 911 and yes we too pay a service fee on every phone bill, land line and cell phone...

It would have been more interesting if Fergie had thrown the punch. At least she sang with Heart - and performed one-handed cartwheels.

will.i.am is an insufferable turd.

Someone caught the action on film.

Exactly. That's civilization. The attacker will and should have his day in court. But Perez deserved it.

They're all trash.

The only thing that would have made this better is if it would
have been Lindsey who had punched that dude. I wonder if
Perez will win an Oscar for his video performance?

LOS ANGELES — Perez Hilton struck back Wednesday with a civil lawsuit filed against the Black Eyed Peas manager accused of hitting him outside a Toronto nightclub.

The celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, sued the Peas' road manager in Los Angeles for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages of more than $25,000.

The suit states Hilton is seeking to protect his rights to free speech and claims Polo Molina attacked him because he made critical comments about the Black Eyed Peas' new album. Molina was arrested in Toronto early Monday after he allegedly punched Hilton following a heated argument between the blogger and Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am.

An e-mail sent to the group's publicist was not immediately returned Wednesday. Molina is due to appear in court Aug. 5.

"Perez Hilton was assaulted by the band's road manager because he would not agree to stop writing about the Black Eyed Peas on his Web site Perezhilton.com," Bryan Freedman, Hilton's lawyer, said in a statement. "Whether you love Perez or hate him, he is entitled to his freedom of speech without fear of physical violence. This lawsuit will make the statement that violence is never the answer."

The lawsuit details the events leading up to Molina's alleged attack on the blogger.

The complaint states Black Eyed Peas vocalist Fergie approached Hilton on Saturday and asked why he was writing "mean" things about her and the group. Hilton replied that he was "simply being honest and truthful about his opinions of them," according to the lawsuit.

On Sunday, Hilton claims he was pushed by an unidentified member of the Black Eyed Peas' entourage, who "slammed his shoulder into Hilton's shoulder and thereafter pushed him."

The lawsuit claims Fergie again approached him at an afterparty for the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night and that his argument with will.i.am happened at another party. The lawsuit claims the blogger was trying to leave that party when Molina punched him at least three times.

"Lavandeira sustained injury to his eye and was bleeding as a result of this violent and malicious attack," the lawsuit claims.

His damage claims include medical costs and damages due to "humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress." The lawsuit also claims that Molina is on probation in California for a drunken driving conviction under his real name, Liborio Molina.

Hilton, who is openly gay, said Monday that he called will.i.am a "faggot," a gay slur, inside the club after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site.

He posted about the attack on the popular microblogging site Twitter on Monday, and has since rejected a call by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to apologize for using the term.

The Black Eyed Peas' newest album, "The E.N.D," has proved popular, ranking No. 1 on last week's Billboard magazine's charts for R&B/Hip-Hop albums. Singles from the album have also proved popular in other rankings.

This was the first post on his site after Michael Jackson was taken to a hospital:

"We knew something like this would happen!!
Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance from his Holmby Hills home to a nearby Los Angeles hospital on Thursday afternoon!!
Supposedly, the singer went into cardiac arrest and the paramedics had to administer CPR!!!
His mother is even on the way to visit him!!!
We are dubious!!
Jacko pulled a similar stunt when he was getting ready for his big HBO special in '95 when he "collapsed" at rehearsal!
He was dragging his heels on that just like his upcoming 50 date London residency at the 02 Arena, of which he already postponed the first few dates!!!
Either he's lying or making himself sick, but we're curious to see if he's able to go on!!!
Get your money back, ticket holders!!!! "

After it was confirmed that Michael died, he took his site down for a while, deleted the post, and replaced it with the news about Michaels death.

In June 2009, aren't we all dubious (either in belief or regard) for douchebag asshole trash "journalists" like "Perez Hilton"?

Can't we all take this recent news cycle to wash ourselves from this idiot, and renounce him to the irrelevance of which he's destined?

Perez is a total pussy. I always figured he'd be the first to break down if anyone ever treated him the way he treats other celebs, and look at what happened. Thankfully, no one seems to be on his side. I hope this is the beginning of the end for him. He needs to **** off.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Just days after his feud with the Black Eyed Peas, Perez Hilton has found himself on the defensive again, this time for a posting on his Web site about Michael Jackson.

After the first reports about Jackson's failing health, Hilton wrote that he doubted Jackson had gone into cardiac arrest. In a post that has since been removed from PerezHilton.com, the celebrity blogger speculated that Jackson was pulling a stunt to get out of his upcoming concerts in London.

Hilton's skepticism, of course, proved unfounded — and many have called for a boycott of the blogger. Hundreds of users on Twitter have urged others to "unfollow" Hilton on the microblogging service. Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy was among the celebrities who chastised Hilton.

Hilton (real name: Mario Lavandeira) didn't return e-mails requesting comment.

He did, though, tweet many times about the situation, claiming that he was owning up to his mistake and that he was "genuinely feeling sorry that he died and sorry for his kids."

On Thursday, Hilton apologized for using a gay slur during a nightclub altercation Monday with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am. The altercation resulted in the band's tour manager being charged with assault for allegedly punching Hilton.

Hilton apologized after the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation pressed him to apologize.

The situation got pretty twisted; it's interesting to watch how many people say he had it coming - while perez himself is completely awestruck that he's getting that reaction instead of a river of sympathy. He always was too malicious and I often cringed at the persistent evil-spirited jokes he made at the expense of f.ex jennifer aniston or fergie. it's lame and disgusting to mock someone because of their looks ESPECIALLY a woman. he made a funny post once in some time, but that doesnt make up for the bad stuff. i guess he started to feel over confident.
but for one, i believe his side of the story, and will.i.am seems like a very shady guy... he should face legal reponsibility, and perez should either cool his ego down and not let it show on the blog so much, or get another job.
