It's time to start putting together another Stevie CD so I'm going through my Stevie folder and I came across an interview Stevie did after she left Fleetwood Mac when Mick wouldn't give her Silver Springs for her Greatest Hits CD. She said that she loves everyone in Fleetwood Mac, she adores Christine, she loves Mick and John, and then she went on to say that and I'm paraphrasing here..."Things aren't good right now between Lindsay and me, but they never really were." What???? I know they didn't get along during Tusk but at this point I thought things had gotten better between them. From what she said it sounded like they haven't really ever gotten along since they broke up. People who have seen them on a tour for more than one performance have said that they look at each other and smile at each other and touch each other at the same spot in the same songs. I thought they were getting along during The Dance but then I've read quotes from Stevie before the current tour that they weren't getting along. Now I'm wondering if this is all an act on their parts. They are, after all, entertainers and I'm sure they know that us fans love to see them getting along. Have they never gotten along since they broke up or do they go from hating each other, make up, hate each other?

I guess you were talking about timespace era. I think Stevie was mad at Lindsey for leaving the band still. She wanted him back.
Today, I think they have their ups and downs. I think how they happen to be feeling that day shows on stage - and you either get a good show or great show. (here, grading a show based on their interactions w/each other)
So I think they like each other, and it sounds like thing have been going generally smooth. But that's normally what they say, and then we find out later that things were worse! LOL so we may never know.

I think that with them its really hard to tell. It has always seemed like, to me anyway, that whenever they are doing a project together...be it an album or a tour...they will say how well things are going and how they are getting along better than they used to...then years down the road we hear that they actually hadn't been getting along together all that well at all. In the end, we are talking about two people who are always going to be drawn together...I think they have proven that. They don't hate each other...I just think they didn't ever get any real closure for whatever reason and that causes a lot of tension between them. As far as seeing them on stage together...thats just part of the fun because you never know what you are going to get. This is what I have noticed:
A) You could see them be sweet towards each other which suggests that things are going really well between them
B) You could see them on a night where they will sing certain songs and give each other dirty looks
C) You could see them when they won't even look at each other during the songs when they usually do...she will look off to her side and he will look off to his.
Personally, I prefer A or at the very least B...I hate it when there is no Stevie/Lindsey interaction.

The answer is, "Yes."

I'd guess it's not one or the other, just like it's not one or the other in "real" life. I mean I think most of us have at least one tumultuous relationship in our own lives where the feelings go back and forth, are complicated, neither black or white. The fact that you truly feel something akin to loathing one day does not mean that the laughter and abiding love expressed at other times if fake or insincere.

I think S & L had a love hate relationship for a long time. It may still be true at times but I think their relationship is more bittersweet now.
And Stevie was royally pissed at Mick for not letting her put Silver Springs on Timespace.

Lindsey is a married man...it would be uncomfortable to share a room with Stevie, I think. Even if the two were as happy as can be.
I doubt they EVER shared a room together. As far as I know about that only Chris and Stevie shared a room - but once they got more money who knows if they all got their own rooms.

Stevie and Lindsey get along exactly as two people who've been romatically involved and known each other since high school should get along. These two started off with nothing and rose to fame together, because of each other. Most people who only dated break up and never see each other again. These two have NEVER been able to completely end the relationship. There will always be some sort of tension between them. It was the exact same with Sonny and Cher. Those loved/hated each other until the day he died. Cher has said she more shocked than anyone at her reaction to the whole thing. She never dreamed his death would have hit her as hard as it did. Stevie and Lindsey are the very same.

Eh...I think there's probably a lot of tension between them. Over the years, Lindsey has made many comments dogging Stevie's writing style and her "simplistic" musical skills. There were some especially disparaging (and I thought uncool) remarks around the time of Mirage. To me, it sounds like Lindsey resents the fact that the songs come so easily to Stevie and that she's so popular and successful even though her songs are not the most sophisticated musical compositions of all time. Meanwhile, she probably resents the fact that she really needs him (at least in the context of Fleetwood Mac) to make her songs work. She's always (or at least she has) trying to downplay Lindsey's production and arrangement work on her songs, saying she never liked it, etc. - which of course is bull****. Add to that the fact that they both seem to have regrets about their breakup (and probably guilt over the way they've treated each other over the years) and that Lindsey is a guitar god and Stevie is a primadonna and I'm sure it's not much of a picnic.
I think the looks on stage and all that is pretty much just schtick.

Indeed. One thing I'll say about Cher -- although I never really liked her until Sonny did die -- is that as negative as she was about her himself, I never once saw her sit there and let anyone else say anything even the slightest bit derogatory about him in her presence.
I know there was one interview where Katie Couric was making fun of Sonny's singing voice and Cher said, 'Bob Dylan's has a very nasal singing voice too. What's your point?' Couric also disparaged the movie Sonny wrote for Cher, Chastity and Cher shot back that it was a brilliant movie and a genius script. She just said that Sonny changed it a lot because it was hard for him to see the love scenes he'd written on paper, play out in real life with his wife and another leading man. So, Cher admitted that the finished movie was less than stellar but insisted that the original script was superb.
And my favorite example of this is when the Los Angeles Times gave Sonny's restaurant a bad review. Being a fan of his, I intended to write a nasty letter to them myself, but Cher beat me to the punch. She wrote in and said his restaurant was spectacular and that the review was so biased she could sew a dress pattern on it. I loved her for that!
Lindsey and Stevie are rarely, if ever, as protective of each other as Cher was of Sonny. As a Bono fan, I felt I had to protect him from her, but I never had to protect him from anyone else, because Cher regularly shot down his detractors.
Anyway, yes . . . when you've known someone since childhood, they are ex-lover, sibling, parent, friend and enemy to you. You bicker. You get angry. You have bouts of hate, but in the end, good or bad, the bond is basically unchanged. It's there until one of you skis into a tree.

Honest Injun opinion? I think people would be shocked at just how stunningly boring the whole thing is for them at this point. (Beyond the simple fun of performing on stage, recording, etc., I mean.)
I think they're two adults, one of whom is now married, who are now co-workers, who happen to have dated and then broken up, thirty-three years ago.
Carter was newly-elected President when they broke up. Most of the country hadn't heard of Governor Reagan, except that he was an actor. Our ally Saddam Hussein was helping us out in the Middle East. Everyone was so excited that we were going to the moon and that we could see it in living color if we adjusted our rabbit ears the right way to get halfway decent reception with only a little "snow," and if we somehow managed to adjust the vertical hold and horizontal hold the right way. Those with money could even record it on their top-loading $500 video-cassette recorders. Everyone was hanging out at the beach with their 8-tracks. And there was this new teenager on the scene named John Travolta who was in a big sitcom called "Welcome Back Carter." He appeared often on Johnny Carson, who of course was in his heyday and still sporting his mostly-black hair. The Queen was quite the recluse, but could probably kick your ass in the 200-meter dash. And Elvis had just come out with his latest hit album.
They broke up a LOOONNNNNNNNNG time ago! :blob2:

^ Exactly they broke up over 30 years ago and have way moved on since then. I don't think their even friends but they do have a deep bond that you can tell is obviously there and will always be there, when they get together its always fascinating to watch.
