Am I making this up, but I swear before the show in SLC, this guy came out with something in a bottle, it looked kinda like a perfume bottle, and sprayed on the floor, in front of Stevie's mic. This was like just a few mins before the show started, and then when I ran up front, I was standing directly in front of Stevie, I could smell something...but it smelt good. So I am wondering...does anyone know what that is all about? Is this like a diva thing?

I wondered about this too, but MacMan figured out it was Static Guard and I heard someone at the Phoenix concert say the same thing. They don't just spray it in front of Stevie's mic, they spray it around all the mics and also on the ribbons around her mic stand.

Wednesday night at the Mohegan show the ribbons on Stevie's tambourine were sprayed as well.

Maybe it is a disinfectant? Remember, their mouths touch the mics. And the roadies hands have touched the mics. Ditto for La Nicks hands touching the ribbons.

I also noted the grey carpet on the stage reeked something awful. So, maybe that is what it is. Carpet is relatively cheap and available in just about every Home Depot and the like. So, they seemingly could replace it fairly easily.

Yep - static guard. I watched the guy spray it on the carpet around LB's mic.

So the stages are carpeted? I'd think that'd make it easier for Stevie to stand for extended periods in those "horrendous" boots then :p. Is the whole stage carpeted, or just the area in front of the individual mics? I've never been closer than 12th row to know...

Static electricity can kill a mic. Since the stage is covered in carpet and they move around alot, maybe that's why.
I don't think I've quite made it to the Static Guard chapter in my book on touring with a band....

It's the entire stage that is carpeted, but it's not like it's plush or anything. This was a grayish indoor/outdoor type of carpet, not a lot of padding (if any). So, no it would not help Stevie. Honestly, I don't think anything could help her besides what she's doing - wearing those corrective shoes. I'm sure if she didn't need to wear them she wouldn't - she's so all about her image.

When I read the subject heading, I immediately thought of the line from "Rhiannon": She is like a cat in the dark.

How else are you going to keep Lindsey from crossing over into your territory?

Saw them do this at the Anaheim show. Sprayed Stevie's stand and ribbons, and then did Johns area.

I noticed no spraying in Philly but maybe I missed it. I never knew the stage was carpeted. Anyone know if this is a "new" thing or have their stages always been carpeted? That would explain the "trudging" around Stevie does in those reboks.

Always. Cory wrote in SYW Tour blog that she was worried Lindsey would slip & fall at Jones Beach, as the edge of the stage was wet and the carpet they lay down before every show did not reach.
