Ocean View HS Sywlindseyfan (Marty's) Graduation

Well I am officially out of the system, haha. i graduated on Wednesday last week from Ocean View High School, coming out as a student with expertise, and Class president all four years!!!!

I wanted to share my experience with you guys because it was very fleetwood mac related, as well as Marty (me) related, haha.

as class president I had to do my speech, and I showed all of the students my love and dedication to them, I ended up crying up there after I said "This isn't a goodbye...it's just a see you later", I ended up having a standing ovation in the middle of my speech, which I was told has never happened by the founding teachers at the school that have been there since it opened. This graduating year was very special and different because it was the first time a class has graduated on campus and this was the 30th year. So I know there is a ledgie on here who went to Ocean view so i hope i made you proud as a fellow alumni!!!! I made SOOOOO SO SO SO SO SO many people and students cry, and everywhere I go I litterally get recognized in stores by parents and tell me that my speech was amazing, and that it made them cry, and all the grad parties i've been going to all the grandparents want to meet me, and parents thank me and congratulate, as soon as I get a copy of the DVD I will post a clip of my speech.
By the way at the beginning of my speech I said " Let's get this party started", and I also said "I want to leave you with something warm..."

Graduation Speech 2009

Good evening Teachers, administration, parents and most importantly my friends the class of 2009.

I have given many speeches throughout our high school career but I must say that this one has been the hardest speech to write. I avoided this speech because of its meaning to me, and to us. It was emotionally hard for me to reflect on our past four years because I wanted to leave you with something warm, but I figured that the best way to do was to be myself, and speak from my heart because that is what truly counts…so is that alright with you???
Then let's get the party Started!!!!!!
For the past four years I have been dreaming about this day, and I never thought it was going to happen, and now here we are at graduation PLUS we are here at Ocean View!!!
To graduate here is an honor because it signifies our school, and ourselves. We have seen countless football games on this field, seen or played many sporting events, or have run on the track for P.E., and to take a central area that is no doubt the new heart of Ocean View High School is astounding, and to be a part of that is great.

The past four years have been amazing, and for me too hard to describe. The amazing thing about it is how much we have come together as a class, whether we know each other or not. We began this journey together freshmen year knowing each other from kindergarten or middle school, and if you came from another school we all still welcomed each other, and all of us together have been doing everything together, and made this whole journey together for the first time. We all had our first High School dance, first pep rally, and then for some of you your first love or crush, and maybe even your first license, and now we continue our tradition of firsts as the first class to graduate on campus!!!!

These are only the baby steps that we have gone through together, in order to be prepared for what comes next. Even though we have all done these things for the first time and accomplished them it is not our last time, because this is just the beginning. I don’t know exactly what comes next in any of our lives, and that frightens me, but I think we all had that very same feeling when we entered high school, and look at us now!!!

Today our destiny and our future is coming right before us, and I want to encourage all of you to take this summer to reach down in your soul , and find yourself, and discover who you are and who you want to be and discover the mysteries of life. It doesn’t seem like it has already been four years since we have met, it feels like we should all be back, and this is just another High School summer. But we all must continue forward and make a difference in other people and ourselves. Remember to love one another and make the world a better place to live. Share your wisdom and time as we have seen it flies by so very fast so make the most of it. I want us all to look for something we care about, and put our passion forward, and make everything happen with our hearts.


Ocean View High School has given us so many memories, and during our stay here. From its original groovy orange and yellow carpet to the newly remodeled Grand canyon hallway, we met new people, and developed long lasting friendships with some of our now best friends, and one thing I want to remind everybody is not to listen to anyone who says we won’t see each other again, or that we won’t have our best friends anymore after high school because we will always be with each other no matter how far or near we are apart, and all of you, no matter if I know you or not, are in my heart.

And remember that this is not a goodbye, it's just a see you later.

I am going to miss seeing all of your faces at the pep rallies, and in the hallways, and I want to thank all of you for giving me this opportunity in my high school career time to serve you, and for partying with Marty for four years. Each year you elected me I put my heart and soul into every fundraiser, dance, and event I put on, and I promise to continue that dedication for the rest of my life and for all of our reunions.



And last I would like to thank all of you for being a part of life, and thank you for letting me be a part of yours, Thank you so much, and I love you all from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations we made it!!!!!!!!
