When "Have A Heart" was first leaked with the other Trouble In Shangri-la outtakes back in 2001, I read somewhere that this song was based on a fairy tale. Does anyone know the name of the fairy tale?
I think this song is beyond amazing!
Thank you!

I believe the song is called Have No Heart. :)
From Sara at Buckinghamnicks.com:
Stevie's song "Have No Heart" was based on an Oscar Wilde tale titled "The Birthday of the Infanta," a story about a heartless young Spanish princess. For anyone that's interested, you can read the entire story here: http://www.planetmonk.com/wilde/pomegranates/infanta.html

Wow, thank you so much! :blob2:
The reason I wrote "Have A Heart" was that I remember a discussion where people were arguing about the title..."Have a Heart" vs "Have No Heart", and I thought that somebody had said that it was listed as "Have A Heart" on that publishing website. I could be remembering totally wrong, of course! Whatever the title, it's a seriously intense song that I can't stop listening to!
Thank you very much for this information!

Have No Heart is absolutely stunning. The vocals by Stevie and the girls are simply breathtaking. It's hard to believe (at least for me) that it was a TISL demo. I still think that demo was recorded during the Wild Heart years!

You may have had the title "Have A Heart" in your head because that's a different song that was a hit for Bonnie Raitt in the late 80's that still gets quite a bit of airplay.

It's a great demo, but definitely not recorded for Wild Heart. You can tell by the way she sings in some parts it's post Street Angel Stevie..It is one of my all time favs tho

I agree that the song was recorded earlier than TISL, but I believe it's a Mirror outtake. It has a similar piano rhythm as the piano demo of Doing the Best I Can.

It's TISL for sure...her voice just didn't sound like that in the 80s or 90s.

I believe you but her voice sounds IMO so much brighter, clearer, higher and far more emotive than any of the songs on TISL. I wish the powers that be would have been able to capture that voice on the record. Still, HNH is a fantastic piece, it just takes me some place else when I listen to it.

It was recorded in the mid-1990's.

Here's the thread that shows the song was copyrighted in 1997:

Great vocal, but unfortunately the melody is too similar to "Doing The Best That I Can". Probably why it wasn't used on TISL.
This sure doesn't sound like her TISL-era voice, though. It's hard to pinpoint, but vocally it sounds like it could be 1998-ish. Her voice during the "Enchanted" tour and Practical Magic sounded alot like her 1989-1990 voice and this vocal has those qualities.
Amazing how her voice changed from year-to-year. In the few years between The Dance and TISL, her voice lost some of its raspiness but she could still hit the higher notes when she tried. By the time of TISL, she had acquired what I call her "granny" voice which she still has to this day.
