I haven't seen that Stand Back clip in a long time, but never so clear. I think that performance might rank high in my list of whacked-out cokey Stevie. Which is not to say I think it's bad, in fact, I think it's delicious.

These are so great. I loved, loved, loved seeing the Grammy footage. I'm going to have to go back and read Carol's book about that night again. Didn't she say something about how hot she looked compared to Stevie? Think again sweetheart. Stevie looked like a godess!!! Carol looked like a poodle with that hair.
These are the things I come here for! You guys come up with some AWESOME ****! Thanks for sharing these videos. I have never seen the behind the scenes shots of the "Hold Me" video, the '87 interview with MTV in its' entirety, or the Blockbuster interviews. I actually remember taping the Solid Gold performance and still have it on VHS tape somewhere. STEVIE NICKS! WHAT A CLASSIC!!!

1987 post-show clip: It always makes me a bit sad to see Stevie in this period. She looked and acted so happy and healthy in that brief post-coke period before the Klonopin took over. What a beautiful smile......
Hold Me: The clip is fab, Stevie is fab, and you are fab for posting it! (As are the boys in their short-shorts and color-stripe knee-highs............)
Stand Back: Known this clip for a long time, but just noticed......Is Lori wearing Stevie's dress from the Stop Draggin' video? And 'LOL' Sharon's hair. Also, I can't help but assume that the guys in the band must've thought Brad was a real goober..........

She looks amazing in it though, and in the Solid Gold clip.
Anyway, jeffreychrist you are seriously awesome.

I can see how you'd feel that way. She is just glowing... very clear headed and clear spoken. She easily looks 10+ years younger than at the Red Rocks concert, just a year before. I even like the look she's sporting there!

Do you guys think that in the MTV interview as the band are going in to their hotel, it's October '87 rather than December '87?
I like the crystal-clear Solid Gold clip! Jeffrey, are you the guy who circulated the crystal-clear versions of US Festival 2, Landover 1975, & Tokyo 1977 a few years ago? Do you have crystal-clear Landover 1978 & 1979?

I don't know why, but I find that hilarious. I wish I could use that excuse at work.
Where was the Hold Me video shot? I always assumed it was some sort of soundstage, but you can hear the crew talking about losing the sunlight.
Thanks for posting these. The quality is amazing and I'm off to your youtube page to find more. A high quality version of the Grammys is wonderful!

Minor correction about one of the videos, that "post 87 concert clip" is actually PRE concert clip. The interview was done by MTV at Bradley Airport in CT when they arrived for their Tango show later that night in Hartford. It was shown on the local news that night and I was highly pissed because I couldn't go to the show (I was 16 without a job or a ride!!).
If you notice you can hear the airplanes in the background.

I so agree with you! She's seems a little unsure of herself in at first but exhibits the most incredible charm and genuine humbleness. She doesn't seem to be suffering any effects yet from the Klonopin here. She seems completely different in this interview compared to her zoned out filmed performance at the Cow Palace at the end of the tour. Does anyone know when exactly Stevie started taking Klonopin, if it was before, during or after the Tango tour?

She seems completely different in this interview compared to her zoned out filmed performance at the Cow Palace at the end of the tour. Does anyone know when exactly Stevie started taking Klonopin, if it was before, during or after the Tango tour?I think she started the tranquilizer before the tour -- doesn't it make sense that if her friends & management were worried about her relapsing with cocaine, they'd push her into the psychiatrist's office before a big tour? But it doesn't seem the tranquilizer really zombified her at that relatively early point. She was certainly much more sedate on the 1987 tour than on previous tours, but that may have simply been not being a cokehead at that point. I also remember Stevie saying in a print interview that she had developed asthma trouble (or something chronic), & therefore had started taking prednisone or some sort of corticosteroid on the tour, which seemed to puff her up a bit & put more weight on her. Look at photos from October, & she looks good; & then look at photos from December & she looks older & heavier. Apparently, too, the Mac's late winter tour 1988 was postponed until the spring owing to Stevie's lingering illness.
It's a lot more enjoyable to watch some bootleg videos of October shows than to watch the Cow Palace commercial video from December.
A similar thing happened on both the 1989 solo tour & then again on the huge 1990 Mac tour: Stevie started trimmer & more vibrant in the early months, but owing to illness & possibly steroids to treat the illness, she grew a lot more lethargic.

I always thought that was interesting - I can see why we can assume Stevie was better at the start of the TITN tour than a few months into it - but am not really sure why we see this change on TOSOTM tour or the BTM tour. Sure it's the start of the tour so she might have more energy, but her dose of K was still the same - or even higher than it was before.
I just find it strange. Strange cycles. No wonder Lindsey stayed away. The cycles were just too strange.

Yeah, that does make total sense about the whole psychiatric happening pre tour. Stevie also mentioned somewhere that when she first started taking K she just felt a "little calmer" so maybe the effects did take a while to kick in. I do have a boot of the second show of the Tango tour and she's very energetic. I was shocked when I first saw it after having only seen the Cow Palace show. There was a huge difference!
I think the biggest change from beginning to end tour was BTM. She looks great in the beginning but at the end is a whole other story!
Thanks for the insights!!

Yup!! and then she was slimmed down and relatively more energetic (though not very) for the Timespace tour. Strange. I think she was taking prozac, too, but who's counting!

She does seem really surprisingly pretty, clear-eyed and fresh in the TITN interview - she's almost giving us some Bella Donna-era Stevie - in contrast to the weird, bloated cyborg Stevie in the pick-up shots in the Cow Palace video.
There were doubtless many peaks and valleys over the course of the Klon years. I'm sure there was a lot of pressure from management, the label people, etc. to take more and more medication over the course of a tour. I know others had different experiences, but by the time I saw her on the Timespace tour (in Saratoga Springs) she literally stood there like an (off-key) singing version of the leaning tower of Pisa with all that hair and those dresses she was wearing at the time. She really seemed like she couldn't have cared less. I remember the band seemed to play everything really fast, too, as if they were terrified that if they didn't finish quick, she might keel over or something - a fear which turned out to be well founded. Poor Stevie. Klon is the worst. I bet the it did hella more damage in the long run than the coke ever did.

Also the steroids which she may have used to treat her asthma/vocal cords can really wreak havoc on a person. They can blow you up like a balloon and then when you stop it goes away. Also I do remeber Stevie being hospitalized here in Denver on the Tango tour for pneumonia for a bit before the Denver show. I'm not sure if there was a break in the tour or if they had cancelled shows. But that show was the first after the hospitalization. It wasn't bad. She was taking it at a kind of measured pace.

the weight from steroids don't always just drop away after you quit taking them
if you take them long enough (I don't know if Stevie did or not) the weight is extremely hard to lose.
I can personally attest to that...and it sucks! lol
