I was just thinking the very same thing.!!!
News of this importance deserves an entire website of its own.
Last time the Mac Visited the o2 what was then the RDS Arena the whole floor as i recall was standing there was no seating. which meant if you were there in good time you could get righ up to the front anyway. I had seats and was stuck at the back. That defo wont happen this time....

I know its early days yet, But who all is going, I'll start this list off.

Its not too bad because the whole flat tier is golden circle I believe. everyone in the flat tire can run up to the stage. Well they could at beyonce anyway.

Peestie they werent sold out. Mylie Cyrus fans crashed the whole system yesterday..

the seats arent as good now. I checked this morning using a presale code and the seats were in Block E Tierd Seating. Not close to the stage.

Make sure and phone the ticketmaster hotline at 9am tomorrow morning you can still get right up to the front. Thats what I will be doing.

How apt that come Friday, it will be a battle of the fans for the rumoured 5th Fleetwood Mac member vs the fans of the actual band. Only in Ireland. Only.:]

There are no good seats on ebay or any of the other tout website. At least that is some consolation. :)

I tried about 8 times at half 9 and then just before 10, the new date was added and I clicked the link, and 4th row came up. At that point, I had nothing and just went for it, considering the presale had been real bad for me!

In my experience with the O2 arena in London, I've found they tend to release the seats further back first (ie the ones they'll have more trouble shifting). I guess they think the more eager fans will take anything. I don't have any proof of this but the amount of times I've tried pre-sales or at 9am on the general sale only to be offered seats at the very back of the arena. Then a couple of months later I'll try again and suddenly they have lots of decent seats on offer.

Fans can look forward to a few surprises!

There’s good news for Fleetwood Mac fans with the AOR gods announcing a second consecutive night at the Dublin O2 on October 25. Tickets priced €86.25 go on sale on Friday September 4 at 9am.

The North American leg of the Unleashed tour has been eliciting rave reviews with the band augmenting their greatest hits with personal favourites and solo tracks that, in some cases, haven’t been performed live since the ‘70s.

The Reynolds Girls may have preferred to jack than Fleetwood Mac, but we can’t wait!

False advertising. Build up hype for a show that has been on sale for over 2 months just to pull in ticket sales from a morning of panic ticket buying.

They will have known about it if they went to buy tickets at any time in the last few months. And the first show didn't sell out so the press release it just a total and utter fabrication to try and sell some tickets.

I think they over-estimated it by putting on two Dublin dates. If they'd made the second night a Belfast concert then they could have sold both but I know at least ten people (and if I know ten people who won't do it then I reckon there are plenty more from the north who won't be doing it either) who aren't going to travel down the the Republic because the tickets are £30 more than the UK dates and staying in Dublin for a night will cost more money than most people would be willing to pay. It is one of the most outrageously expensive cities I've ever been to.

The whole thing is a farce. I'm only going to the 1st date.I'm not particularly excited about a 2nd. I got all I could've wanted seein 'em on the SYW Tour anyhow.
Besides the fact that everything i've read so far about this tour is not particularly amazing..just ''okay''.
And I do believe there was one of the band admitting it was 'for the money'? Not too sure I can't remember, but either way all I have to say is 'MEH'.
Nice for fans who will be seeing them for the first time though, hope you have an amazing time :)

Yesterday, for no particular reason, I went online and pulled 2nd and 3rd row center seats in the "Flats" for both nights in Dublin. Cah--razy! So it looks like I'm going! :blob1: I just wish the dollar wasn't so weak against the euro :distress: . So is it really true that they pretty much allow everybody up to the stage anyway? I do recall back on the SYW tour that a big brawl broke out in the front during the show in Dublin, so I wonder if they have instituted measures to prevent this sorta thing from re-occurring. Also, from what I can tell (on Google Earth), it looks like O2 is located in a pretty desolate industrial area near the docks. It looks like a pain-and-a-half to get to.

Since we'll be out there anyway, I'm going to look into Glasgow and the Wembley dates as well. I noticed the "Hot Ticket Package" that they are offering, which is sorta like ILAA-lite. Accordingly, it's a smidge cheaper than ILAA... But what I noticed is that the package includes a tour program. So, by golly, it looks like they're finally going to put one out! But it doesn't look like they sell these to international folks since the shipping options are only for UK/Ireland addresses.

The closer it's getting to the 1st Dublin concert, the less excited about it I'm beginning to feel tbh. At the time I didn't mind splashing out for the ticket, it was pretty much all I wanted to do. But all this **** about the new 2nd date etc is just a joke and I'm sorry I ever gave so much money to those greedy ****ers who couldn't give a toss about any of us here.

Fleetwood Mac at the O2 Second Night Added

Great news MacHeads (or whatever Fleetwood Mac fans are called, although I do know 'MacHead' is the name of a rumoured lost Dave Matthews Band song), Fleetwood Mac will be playing a second night at Dublin's O2 on October 25th. Tickets for the show are on sale now, and may well sell out very quickly. Tickets range from 86-126 euro, but are definitely worth the admission fee.

Cant wait for the concert, not long to go now. I'm kinda thinking it would be real cool to have my Model 1 signed by Lindsey. However I would have no idea how to meet the band before or after the show. Where would the best place to go be to be in with a chance.
Probably the hotel they're staying in but i dont even know that.
Any Ideas??? If anyone knows its you guys.

A reader wrote into IrishTimes.com commenting on a Fleetwood Mac interview last Friday on the Dave Fanning show. But when I went to the radio station website (RTE 2fm http://2fm.rte.ie/fanning), I didn't see such an interview. They have posted a summary of Thursday's show. So maybe Friday's is coming.

This was the reader complaint, September 21, 2009:
http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/ontherecord/2009/09/21/the-randomiser-says-did-you-see-that/
Meanwhile on (no longer younger) sister station 2fm, the Dave Fanning show is really just the same old same old with dull topics (Beatles, pop fashion, bad guys in films) leading to bland discussions and not much to get stuck into. And I assume that Fleetwood Mac interview on Friday was a pre-record to give Dave a long weekend to finish off his book? Something for the new Head Boy (or Girl) to get stuck into - as well as looking at why bona-fide 25-44 year old crowd-pleasers like David Gray are not on the playlist. Then again, maybe this is a good thing.

Venue: The O2
The 02
Dublin
Price: 86.25

From: Oct 24, 2009 To: Oct 26, 2009

Description: Fleetwood Mac are back, with their best-selling line up featuring Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham

Since forming in 1967 the only thing about the group that hasn't changed is the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.
Through the '70s, the band shifted and changed with nearly every recording as Fleetwood Mac metamorphosed from a traditionalist British blues band to the maker of one of the best-selling pop albums ever - Rumours.
From that album's release in 1977 into the present, Fleetwood Mac has survived additional, theoretically key, personnel changes and yet remained a dominant commercial force.

Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 100 million copies of its albums - including 25 million for Rumours alone - making it one of the most popular rock bands in history, don't miss out on this rare outing for the band.

The Meath Chronicle, 10-7-09

http://www.meathchronicle.ie/plus/stayingin/articles/2009/10/07/391749-whats-on-the-box-this-week/

What's on the Box this week:

'The 11th Hour' (RTE 2, Wednesday) - Dave Fanning is back with a brand new series bringing some of the hottest new music along with interviews from the biggest artists and specially recorded performances from some of the bands of the moment.

This week Fanning talks to Mick Fleetwood and Lyndsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, who play a couple of sold-out shows in Dublin's O2 later this month. 'The 11th Hour' will also feature music from Bat For Lashes, Air and Julie Feeney, along with a report on the making of Lady Gaga's album. Actor Simon Delaney talks about his favourite music, plus there's live music from Irish band Codes and Adrian Crowley, whose album 'Season Of The Sparks' is one of the best of the year.

If you needed to describe the 1970s in two words, "Fleetwood Mac" would do pretty nicely. Some of this is down to what we know about the group outside the recording studio – all heavy relationship drama and era-defining drug problems. More significantly, the band put all this into their music, creating along the way a divorce rock triptych – their Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk albums – which brought sumptuous musical expression to the phrase "we need to talk about us". Most of the Mac's music still sounds great, a canon that will be faithfully revisited here by Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham – Christine McVie could not be tempted out again.

Back at the hotel now... Dublin was all kinds of weather today - sunny, rainy, windy, cold, mild... just couldn't make up its mind. But indeed this was one of the more outstanding shows. But most notably the band seemed genuinely impressed by the energy of the crowd; Lindsey even did his own "Edge Walk" across the entire front edge of the stage. And Stevie was wowed as well since she did her own little own speech about it at the end.

Some notable notes:

-About midway through the show, you could see Stevie making eye contact with someone out in the arena with the "thumbs up" sign. I am speculating that this was the "we're doing 'Silver Springs' signal."

-She took the low harmony on "Stand Back" for the line "Why don't you taaaaake me home..."

-Lindsey laughed during the acapella harmony of "falling, falling, falling" at the end of SYLM.

-Not sure who the "Landslide" dedication was made to- it was something to do with Fleetwood Mac, I think!

-At the end of GYOW, Stevie and the girls were doing some kind of side step choreography together. It was kind of cute, since Stevie was looking behind her to make sure the girls were keeping time.

-A girl ran on stage during "Don't Stop" and made it within a few feet of Stevie before she was whisked away by the guards.

-Before "Silver Springs," Mick walked back onstage swinging his "balls" around and John walked out with a big pair of scissors and jokingly tried to cut them off. That's about as theatrical as John gets, I suppose!

Oh, John is using props now. That's hysterical! I've seen him cut them using his fingers as his scissors. Now, he's stepped it up a notch. I wonder if it's the first time he did that. I bet the first time, if he caught Mick by brandishing them unexpectedly, Mick must've nearly died laughing. Michele

What an absolutely amazing night in Dublin, I met some Ledgies there in Particular Sahara and Robert Upton who were really sound people.

Lindsey was unreal on the guitar, I was standing right at the front of lindsey. I couldnt have gotten any closer. Loasds high fives and handshakes with him. He was in great form and loved everyone in the crowd. The atmosphere was electric.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot to say.... (NOT) Lindsey signed my guitar & I got one of his actual guitar straps for my Turner Model 1, He also gave me one of his fancy custom made "No Picks Alowed" Guitar Pics.

Also got to do the whole playing the guitar during Go Your Own Way and other songs.

Best song of the Night - All of them, Fleetwood Mac were amazing. All my wishes came true all at once last night, I was a little overwhelmed to say the least.

Who was the backing singer in the middle, I can remember her name? She gave me a lovely wave and smile it almost made my night.

Richard told a story of a drunk Mick, crying because his wife had left and taken his daughters to England. Dashut was trying to walk with Mick and support him, with his arms around him, but Mick was just so much taller than him that it was hopeless and comical.

Many times during the SYW tour, when Mick would introduce Lindsey, Lindsey would slide over to Mick and Mick would put his arm around him and kiss him. I loved that.

Just home from the second night!... No where near as close as I was last night unfortunately, but still had a blast!... Highlights included:

Landslide being dedicated to "us"... as in Dublin?

Stevie and Lindsey screaming the lyrics at each other at the end of Gold Dust Woman...

New lyrics at the end of Gold Dust Woman

STORMS!

unfortunately, there was no Silver Springs! :(... Stoopid audience just weren't encouraging enough!

Stevie seemed in much better mood tonight I think?... I've videos of Dreams, Storms, Landslide and Never Going Back Again I'm gonna upload onto Youtube soon!

GDW seems to be going through a new metamorphasis. It's easily the most mystical, dramatic, and vibing song they've got going on right now.

Could you make out any of the new lyrics? I know she's been saying "lost her in the shadows, she fell down into the shadows, she disappeared in the shadows, she's wasted in the shadows, dying in the shadows, gone into the shadows, lost her in the shadows..."

What I think is so cool about the current versions is how it seemed to become this "thing" throughout the tour - not scripted or rehearsed so much as just all of them going with the feel and following each other. Very creative - I think they've still got it!

There really was nothing new about any of the songs last night other than the fact that she wouldn't go for any of the high notes. She even stopped singing at times and let the girls carry the weight. So yeah, instead of doing a long wail at the end of GDW, it was a bunch of short, low "yeahs." the second night's show was a complete 180 degree change from the first night! She was a trooper for carrying on, but she clearly was not feeling well last night. :distress: .

First of all, and I think it's really important to mention stuff like this, I would NOT have been able to see the Mac in Dublin Saturday night if it wasn't for Kathryn (known to all of us fondly as Sahara.), who swapped me a ticket at EXTREME short notice and was just so lovely and accomodating even though I was hella late getting to the 02 (stupid traaaaaaaains!! grr!!). Thanks again Kathryn, you're the epitome of a lady! :xoxo:

Second of all.. Ho.Lee.Schitt.. What a night.

They were absolutely unreal. Exceeded all expectations, especially Stevie who has never sounded so good. GDW was amazing, Storms had me in tears (in a good way of course.. :p), Silver Springs was spot on-not strained like so many videos I'd seen on youtube from the US leg, just packed with energy but poised and graceful.
The story about her joining Fritz was so cute and she got a HUGE applause for once again mentioning the San Francisco rock era that Fritz was a part of as being the most important in modern day music.
Landslide dedication was perfect, couldn't have been a better dedication in my opinion.

Fair play to John, didn't responde to any nonsense calling all night.. what a rock he is! And the scissors trick was hilarious.

Comment of the evening undoubtedly goes to Mick for the following gem (during the band announcement) "Over there with an array of pianos and keyboards I don't know how he handles them all.. BUT HE HANDLES THE ORGAN VERY WELL!" (Even if some people didn't get it straight away, it was still genius. ;))

Oh.. my.. god. Lindsey was quite simply- unbelievable. You see the energy from the videos but until you're standing right underneath him for Big Love, etc.. you don't fully understand just how awesome he is. Great interaction with everyone up the front, really appreciated the crowd, think he got 2 mid show standing ovations: Big Love and ISA..
At one stage, think it might have been Gypsy, he leaned over the crowd right between the two mics and about 20 people were given a sweat shower.

Overall, had the best night ever. Best gig I'v ever been to and I don't see anybody topping it soon.. if ever! :) :) :)

Reviews: Fleetwood Mac and Buzzcocks

Monday October 26 2009

Fleetwood Mac, The 02, Dublin

THERE have been so many incarnations of Fleetwood Mac over the past 42 years that even the most avowed student of the band may have trouble keeping up.

The current guise comprises four-fifths of the so-called classic line-up that gave the world 'Rumours' in 1977 -- still one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Christine McVie may have quit in 1998, but her ex-husband John McVie, along with Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, are back on the road again for the first time in six years.

With no new album to promote, this Unleashed tour is ostensibly a greatest hits parade and over two-and-a-half hours the foursome duly deliver.

Buckingham, who is looking in very fine fettle for a 60-year-old, is especially up for it, not least when he produces the superb riff on 'The Chain'. It is the first of several occasions where he throws the sort of guitar-god poses one would normally associate with Spinal Tap.

Nicks hasn't lost it either and her voice remains a thing of beauty, not least on 'Gypsy', 'Rhiannon' and 'Landslide'. The latter is dedicated to the late Stephen Gately, much to the appreciation of the crowd.

The night's most spell-binding moment is provided by 'Sara' -- one of Nicks's best compositions -- and she performs it beautifully.

There is a touching moment towards the song's end when she and former lover Buckingham embrace warmly. Later, she's just as affectionate with another ex-lover, Mick Fleetwood. It's a reminder of the band's soap-opera past.

Buckingham alludes to the group's rollercoaster history, not least during the sessions that yielded 'Rumours', as he introduces one of that album's less-celebrated songs, 'Second Hand News'.

In places, the performance drags a little -- Fleetwood's solo drumming and indecipherable chanting towards the end smack of self-indulgence, for instance -- but there are enough tried and trusted songs to reel the audience back in again.

'Don't Stop' has the capacity crowd on their feet and that's where they stay, right until the house lights come on.

I was at both shows and I didn't think the vibe was as good in the audience on the second night but it was still an enthusiastic crowd. The first night was just so enthusiastic anything by comparison would seem lacking.

All in all, there was very little to complain about. Stevie's mic was a bit quiet for a while on the second night but they sorted it out.

Mick and John add so much to songs like Tusk, ISA, IKINW etc. that Lindsey did on his GOS tour. Lindsey really does seem to be enjoying himself a lot. Stevie seemed to swing between looking like she was a bit bored and totally having a party but I though (first night especially) that her vocals were great. She wasn't as adventurous the second night but she was still very good.

I went to see Fleetwood Mac last night. They have so many years of great music I just had to go see them. The songs were fantastic the show was amazing.

Considering Stevie Nicks is now 61 year old, she was pretty good.

But the highlight of the show was defiantly Lindsey Buckingham, who just rocked the stage. I never appreciated just how good he actually is on guitar. You would have thought this guy was like 18 or something last night. His energy, singing, and guitar playing was just unreal.

The Mic Fleetwood during the encore went into a drum solo which was just great.

It was a great experience to see this band and hear their many hits over the decades.

Fleetwood Mac – 02, Dublin
By Lisa Hughes on Monday, 26 October 2009

Ah, the reunion tour – the cash cow that never loses its value. And, based on tonight’s evidence, we can’t say no to them. After all, in the midst of a recession the O2 is packed to the gills with punters, most of whom paid more than a pretty penny to be there. Adding to the long string of comeback gigs to grace these shores in recent years, Fleetwood Mac joined the ranks with a two night stint at the O2. With their last comeback tour somewhat immortalised as a piece of rock history, Mick Fleetwood pulled the original Rumours contingent together for the Unleashed 2009 World Tour (minus Christine McVie of course, who apparently declined the offer).

With no support act lined up and the stage clothed in darkness, all elements were in place for the crowd to nervously anticipate the show to come and as each band member took their place to kick things off with ‘Monday Morning’ the nervous tension peaked. Once the surreal sensation of seeing the Mac in the flesh wore off, it became clear that there was something of a sing-off taking place before us, with FM’s legendary rivalries surfacing. For a significant handful of songs, Nicks and Buckingham split vocal duties, with both guilty of hamming things up in an effort to own the show. As the tassled and shawled Stevie Nicks tottered around the stage in semi-slow motion in 4 inch heels, she almost managed to rekindle her 70s cool yet, despite the earlier murmurs of the crowd ahead of her entrance. Buckingham however was the undisputed show stealer. With his guitar-wielding swagger and powerful solos, the guitarist’s onstage presence, particularly on moments like ‘Big Love’, made him dominate the performance. Meanwhile, Stevie’s vocals remain top-notch (‘Landslide’ affirmed this), so distinctive that even when she occasionally dropped the ball, it only endeared her further.

Let’s not forget the presence of Mick Fleetwood either, whose steady efforts belting away on the drums underpinned the entire performance. Although he looked physically sidelined by the two most famous band members, half of the group’s namesake was certainly not forgotten, as the huge cheer he garnered at the end rightfully displayed. Things were hammed up further with the sermon-like intervals where Nicks and Buckingham digressed on the band’s often troubled history, attempting to add to the symbolism of the event by harking back to their well-versed dramas. Admittedly it was a tactic that worked, reminding us of the rarity of the occasion by reiterating the group’s stature and legendary status, regardless of how wholly theatrical it felt.

When the clash of egos died down (or became less apparent), things instead centred on the music as the setlist hit all the expected high points and was a solid blend of well-known numbers. From the thundering outro of ‘The Chain’ to the note-perfect rendition of ‘Dreams’ through to the bluesy ‘Gold Dust Woman’, musically the band managed to pull it all together as though they’ve been doing this untroubled without a break since 1977. For a reunion tour there was no sense of the band phoning in their performance and, occasional cheese-factors aside, there was a very real sense that, despite Mick Fleetwood’s call of “Until next time”, this could be the last we see of Fleetwood Mac and that made it an occasion to savour. Tonight’s show lacked that certain something to make it a truly unforgettable night, (perhaps due to the obvious impersonal nature of a mammoth venue like the O2) but on the whole it was an impeccable performance hard to fault and one you couldn’t help but feel privileged to witness.

Oh Lord ... I don't even know where to begin! I'm still buzzing.

Madness Fades: This man is, as we say, a legend ;) You and Michelle were so good to me and I couldn't be happier that you finally succeeded in getting that beauty signed. I hope the pic of us turned out well!

LikeAMagnet: I'm so delighted you got to the show in the end :) You were an absolute joy to spend the evening with and thank you so much, forever and ever, for getting us to the front. I owe you big time!

As for a 'review' ... quite simply the best weekend of my life. I could gush at length (and might yet) but I'll do my best to pick just the highlights:

- Lindsey Lindsey Lindsey. I don't need to tell anyone here how wonderful his voice and his playing were, but more than that, he was so generous to the crowd. I particularly noticed this on Sunday night, when I was standing right in front of his microphone (pinch me I'm dreaming). He was interacting all the time, smiling, pointing, laughing or just making eye contact. Looking straight into those incredible eyes with them looking back into mine? Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen to me but it did, over and over and over again. The biggest kick I ever got. :o

- I fluctuate between being a Stevie girl and a Lindsey girl, but this weekend I was all Lindsey. He was so charismatic and gave so much to the fans in the front; I just couldn't take my eyes off him. That's not to say, of course, that Stevie was a disappointment -- she definitely wasn't. She looked gorgeous, just as beautiful in the flesh as in the pictures, and sounded even better. Her voice is in great shape and on Saturday night she was putting everything into it. There was definitely something amiss on Sunday night, a kind of sadness or heavy-heartedness about her. Whatever it was, I hope she's doing better now.

- Best song on both nights for me was I Know I'm Not Wrong. Halfway through it on the second night I realised that I was right at Lindsey's feet, listening to the number one song of the night and that I had two more hours of this pure bliss to look forward to... it was ecstasy. I just felt like crying...! :) :o :)

- I was going to pick other standout songs, but by the time I did I realised every second song was on my list, so I won't! ... But I MUST mention Go Insane. The new treatment is incredible and Lindsey gives it so much. The last thirty seconds with the deep, rumbling bass/synth (I'm not sure what it is) are so intense, they just grab you and don't let go until it cuts out. Incredible.

- I thought the crowd were much more into it on Sunday night. Mick seemed to really appreciate us chanting his name :)

Where else would I find people who understand how I'm feeling? Even now I'm still high from it and I never ever want to forget it. Better than a dream come true. I am so, so happy. I still can't believe it happened..... Aaaaaaghh. :D :D :D

I completely agree with you Sahara!... it was an amazing weekend!... and Lindsey was by far the most interactive for the gigs!... I was amazed by how upbeat and excited he was!... He was pumping with energy and more than willing to share it!...

It was easily the best weekend of my life too!... between seeing both nights, and then Peter Green on Monday, I don't think anything could top this weekend ever!

So cool to know there were other Ledgies nearby... I probably spotted you not knowing it was you!

It was still an amazing night though!...

I'm still hyper too!... I was trying to explain it to people in college today and they all thought I was having some kind of epileptic fit haha!

I know, I've been going round like such a loon ever since, gushing at people about how awesome it was and going back ten minutes later to apologise and explain that no, I'm not a lesbian, that "Lindsey was so sexy" comment was about a guy.
You're hardly in TCD, are you?

HEJIRA! Sorry for the caps! But I am SO impressed! This photo belongs in their (alleged) upcoming UK Tourbook. It would also be a fantastic Rolling Stone magazine photo, or their best official Fleetwood Mac tour-shirt. I just think it's a phenominal photo, because... - it's a dimension of Fleetwood Mac captured in a photograph that you don't see very often- FUN!
My, my, you captured 'we're having fun' as I've never seen, ever, with those four. I think if SN ever sees that photo, she will say to herself 'well, I won't be able to say I didn't have a good time on the Unleashed Tour- there's proof!'
The photo strikes me as very, very 'Wizard of Oz'... I somehow see Stevie as the cowardly lion in the shot, while LB has that vulnerable Dorothy-esque gaze going on. Now, who ever would get to sing lead on 'If I Only Had A Brain'?? :)
Though, to me, it looks like Stevie is singing a little, silly, happy song to herself, possibly even 'because, because, because, because, because'...'
Gosh, don't I know how to spell phenominal? Why is it underlined in red, twice now? Well, it's just the best photo of Fleetwood Mac I have seen in eons. So very, very nicely done. They should hire you! (though John may tell LB 'that's too much') :)

By John Meagher, Friday October 30 2009

They may have been on the road to make yet more millions off their old songs, but Fleetwood Mac put in a performance at The O2 last weekend that took cynics such as me by surprise.

For two-and-a-half hours Stevie Nicks, a remarkably youthful looking Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie played with an enthusiasm and verve to appease anyone grumbling over the high price of tickets.

Hearing Nicks sing their finest song, Sara, was especially lovely as was the obvious joy Buckingham derived from the middle aged folk in the front rows.

What wasn't nearly so pleasant was having two loudmouth gentlemen in the row behind, both of whom were incapable of keeping their mouths shut during the performance and utterly oblivious to the furious glances of those around them. The situation was made all the worse by their cretinous friend from Cork who came over to them several times to crack schoolyard, homophobic jokes about his county's hurling goalkeeper Dónal Óg Cusack.

If any of you three laminate-wearing buffoons are reading this, stay away the next time someone offers you a freebie -- and give the tickets to someone who would really appreciate them.

Hey, I represent that remark! :p Actually I found the Euro audiences (except Glasgow) to be generally much, much younger.

Fleetwood Mac (live in Dublin)

Fleetwood Mac (live in the O2, Dublin)
Review Snapshot: A band that has been on the go for over 40 years, albeit with changes in personnel along the way. While the band may be deteriorating, the music stands the test of time, even without the absent Christine McVie.

The Cluas Verdict? 8 out of 10

Full Review:
Opening with 'Monday Morning' from the pre-Rumours days, it was 'The Chain' and 'Dreams' that got the O2 Arena in a frenzy from the start. "Dublin, you're beautiful, why don't we get this party started" shouted Nicks, before Buckingham and Nicks took it in turns to sing, giving us 'I Know I'm Not Wrong', 'Gypsy', 'Go Insane' and 'Rhiannon' in the early part of the show.

Nicks spoke about forming a band in 1965, "a hard rock San Francisco Band" she proclaimed. "We learnt our trade supporting Jimi Hendrix and Janice Joplin. We want to put our experience back into a song, back to the gypsies that we were" was how she introduced the aforementioned Gypsy.

Lindsey then told us about the recording of Rumours "it's not a bad little album" he joked, going on to tell us about all the friction in the band at that time and how they all poured their hearts out into the songs. "Fleetwood Mac has had a very complicated history but we said we'd have fun”. He goes on to say that "seen as we don't have a new album to promote yet, let's do all the songs we love and I hope you like them too. This is the first song we recorded for Rumours" was his intro to the brilliant 'Second Hand News'. He gave it his all on 'Tusk' shouting and chanting his way all over the stage, before taking a short breather while Nicks delivered 'Sara', after which she gave Buckingham a big hug as they embraced.

Introducing 'Big Love' Lindsey explained that "this was the first single from Tango In The Night, and it was an important song for me as it described the person I was at that time, when it was written in 1987" he said profoundly.

Nicks returned, wearing a red dress and said "this song is dedicated to you [the fans], because everyone needs a song like this” before delivering 'Landslide' with just Lindsey on acoustic guitar. If that performance was brilliant, Buckingham exceeded it on 'Never Goin Back Again' with a slowed down version of the Rumours classic on acoustic guitar and dominant vocals.

Stevie discussed the rehearsals for the tour adding "when we met up on January 5th this year, to start rehearsing for this tour we wanted to do a song that we hadn't performed before. We like to call this I Have Always Been a Storm" she added, while Mick came to the front of the stage to perform the percussion accompaniment.

'Say You Love Me' and 'Gold Dust Woman' were next, with Stevie now wearing a gold coloured shawl and single black glove for the latter, while Lindsey stayed behind the scenes on this one. 'Oh Well' was truly fantastic. The sound in the o2 Arena was brilliant for the concert, but it shone through on this number as the three lads gave it everything.

Another elaborate guitar solo from Buckingham followed on 'I'm So Afraid', while Nicks (now wearing a white shawl and black dress) done her infamous dance during 'Stand Back' and they closed with 'Go Your Own Way'. The encore comprised of 'World Turning' which put Mick Fleetwood in the spotlight for 10 minutes, and they finished the night with 'Don't Stop' which got everybody on their feet.

You couldn't fault this performance on any level, but this is the Lindsey Buckingham band, and the rest are really only here for the ride. Without him they are nothing, and while Mick and John might share the bands name, it's Buckingham's Palace.

I spent the whole of Sunday remembering the same thing! What an incredible weekend!

If anyone has one of the Dublin posters with the city name on it, I'll be prepared to pay you quite handsomely if you'll part with it.

Aaagh. I get such a kick remembering it. It was absolutely sublime.

PS - I still haven't watched any videos of either night ... trying to keep my own memories of it 'pure', if that makes sense. I will soon, though :)
