Hi,

Oh. My God. Live Nation has a date at the Birmingham NIA up on their site for 11th November!!! The thing is, not only does the buy tickets link not work yet but I'm also not getting tickets yet because if it's the only date then it's released strangely early before others so I going to wait and see but... YAYYYY!!!

MacMan

Here's the link, but bear in mind you don't seem able to buy ticks yet so I'm keeoing (relatively) calm! I'd raher go for a gig somewhere else if and when more are announced anyway..

Here it is though

Oh my goodness. You make me feel faint, because when I think of Birmingham and Fleetwood Mac . . .

Return of the Native.

Anyway, fantasies aside, I'm glad Europeans are getting some good news.

The rest of the UK and Europe must must must be coming out anytime time - surely:shrug:

My God!!

In my own section of livenation, where you can add your fave artists etc, I've not got alist of the followin European dates on the page..

03/11/2009 NIA Birmingham Birmingham
02/11/2009 Sheffield Arena Sheffield
30/10/2009 Wembley Arena London
27/10/2009 M.E.N. Arena Manchester
22/10/2009 SECC Glasgow

DO NOT take these as garanteed. Apart from Birmingham, they're only appearing in the 'My Live Nation' section, not on the main page when you just type in Fleetwood Mac. Although it's Glasgow I want! Manchester too/instead.

I just called the SECC and they've had nothing confirmed but they also told me that it's not unusual for them notto hear anything until the day before tickets go on sale. There is no on sale date for any tickets apart from Birmingham on the livenation site. When you click on the buy icon next to any of these dates it just takes you back to the home page, so obviously you cant buy them yet or there's no other info about sale dates etc.

Not too sure what all this means....

That's great news ! If I search for FM on our Dutch LiveNationsite (livenation.nl), the Birmingham-date pops up as well.....This must lead to more dates :-)

Hopefully they announce them all at once, last time I scored just a seat on the site in the Oberhausen (Germsany) Arena, because I was convinced that they would play Rotterdam as well (where I was planning on buying a general admission floor-ticket) and they didn't come over to Holland the last time around...so I just need to see them this time and I'll fly to London if I had to.

Btw, would it be possible for the title of this thread to be changed to UK dates to avoid confusion and lots of repeat threads? :)

Yes I know they do. I recently got my daughter tix for Jonas Brothers. But then it actually said Livenation presale on a certain date. This one doesn't which is confusing

Ooooh, interesting.

Surprised they're playing Wembley Arena though. Most acts of that size seem to head straight for the 20k seater O2 Arena nowadays.

I'll await details of ticket prices. I'm 50/50 on whether i'll go. They're still one of the few acts left I want to see live but I wont pay stupid prices for tickets. Might leave it until nearer the date and see how they're selling.

Gypsy-Rhiannon

Ticket prices are on there... £45 - £75. Pretty much the same as they were last time (and cheaper than the Eagles! I pad £100 for a ticket for them)

Just to add I haven't had good experiences with Live Nation pre-sales. I recently got my daughter tickets for the Jonas Brothers and got 3rd row throught the fan club the day before the live nation pre-sale. I thought I would still check it out though and was logged in ready for 9am. The whole site just seemed to freeze up and by the time I got tickets they were pretty crap. Has anyone tried phoning for pre-sale tix before?

Ticketmaster is coming up now for 30 October at Wembley Arena. It says pre-sale 4 June - no details of pre-sale tho - that's helpful.

Last time around I ordered pre-sale tickets through the FWM fan club but got better seats directly with ticketmaster - then ended up with 4 I couldn't get rid of!!!! HOpe it will be better this time around.

There is also the Wembley Arena pre-sale which they wouldn't give any info on just go on to the Wembley website - you then get directed to Live Nation!!!!:distress:

Dublin October 24th - 02 Arena... .According to this article:

Clashmusic.com (http://www.clashmusic.com/news/fleetwood-mac-uk-arena-tour)
One of the best selling groups of all time Fleetwood Mac are set to re-unite for a very special UK arena tour.

Emerging from the British blues boom, Fleetwood Mac would go on to dominate the pop market with some of the most popular albums ever released. The band perhaps peaked with the spectacular success of 'Rumours', and the line up that crafted this album is set to gather for an extremely rare tour.

To gather the roots of Fleetwood Mac would take a box set. Formed by guitar hero Peter Green, the band used some of the finest musicians from the British blues scene. However Green would depart in 1970 after a period of mental decline, leaving the band to battle on.

Centred on the rhythm section pairing of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, Fleetwood Mac would later gather the twin talents of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

The group would later inter-marry, but the pressures of success took their toll on the relationships with the band divorcing just a few years later. The inter-band politics seemed to drive them on to greater artistic endeavours, crafting the massively successful album 'Rumours'.

To date the album has sold over 25 million copies, and spawned the classic hits 'Go Your Own Way', 'Dreams' and 'Don't Stop'.

In total, the band have sold a staggering 100 million albums making them one of the most popular rock acts ever. Subsequent albums such as 'Tusk' and 'Tango In The Night' would enhance Fleetwood Mac's reputation as a supreme artistic outfit, yet full scale tours are few and far between.

Fleetwood Mac have only played two full scale tours in more than twenty years. In fact, it is over a decade since the band's last appearance in public together.

Hell, even solo appearances are hard to come by. Since the release of a live album in 1998 the band members have taken time off, with Mick Fleetwood said to be the lynchpin behind getting the group to reform.

More than thirty years on from the release of 'Rumours' Fleetwood Mac remain one of the most popular groups on the planet. A rare chance to catch this band in the live arena, make sure you don't miss out!

Fleetwood Mac are set to play the following dates:

October
22 Glasgow SECC
24 Dublin O2 Arena
27 Manchester Evening News Arena
30 London Wembley Arena

November
2 Sheffield Arena
3 Birmingham National Indoor Arena

That confused me too. I would point out that every time, without fail, when I have had a text from O2 about presale tickets and responded immediately, I have had the reply that the presale period was now over. I have also had texts about presale after tickets have gone on general sale.

Also, when I was trying to book Green Day tickets for Sheffield through Ticketmaster's website a few weeks ago (at 9 am on the day of general sale) not one ticket was available and the phone constantly engaged. See Tickets were offering tickets but with no indication of seating numbers and Ticketline's site was too busy to even get on. It took almost four hours of trying every avenue every few minutes before I got tickets direct by phone from Sheffield Arena's box office. I have no idea what is going to be my first port of call for the Mac.

They might add a Belfast date but the only time it would really fit would be the 25th. The Odyssey arena here isn't booked for that date yet so there's a slim chance. I'm hoping that they do because Belfast is easiest for me but Dublin pretty convenient as well so I'll not be complaining. If they do both I'll be hitting both of the shows.

I might have to go to a concert in England/Scotland as well. My brother wants to see them but is busy the weekend of the Dublin show so I'll just have to go with him to see them somewhere else. I can take that hit for the team

Fleetwood Mac to play Birmingham NIA with 'Rumours' line-up

Fleetwood Mac have announced a new UK tour with their best-selling 'Rumours' line-up - and the closing night of the reunion tour will be in Birmingham.

The classic line-up of Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham bring their UK tour to a close at Birmingham’s NIA on Tuesday, November 3.

Since forming in 1967 the only thing about the group that hasn't changed is the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Through the '70s, the band's personnel and style shifted as Fleetwood Mac changed from a traditionalist British blues band to making of one of the best-selling pop albums ever - Rumours.

From that album's release in 1977 into the present, Fleetwood Mac survived additional, theoretically key, personnel changes and yet remained a dominant commercial force.

Fleetwood Mac were formed by Peter Green, McVie, and Fleetwood along with Jeremy Spencer.

In 1970 Green abruptly left the group and early in 1971 Spencer also left. The group relocated to California in 1974 and Fleetwood Mac finally found a best-selling line-up with the addition of the duo of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and producer Keith Olsen.

The group now had three songwriters as well as Buckingham's studio craft and an onstage focal point in Stevie Nicks, who became a late-70s sex symbol as their first studio offering Fleetwood Mac racked up 5 million in sales.

Grammy Award winning album Rumours sold over 17 million copies and contained the 1977 hits Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Don't Stop and You Make Loving Fun.

In 1998 the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where it played an acoustic set that Buckingham insisted would be its swan song.

Fleetwood Mac have sold more than 100 million albums — including 25 million for Rumours alone — making them one of the most popular rock bands in history.

Tickets for the NIA concert go on sale Friday at 9am and are priced at £75, £60 and £45 through theticketfactory.com or by calling 0844 338 800.

I personally have no problem with presales, I'll do whatever I can to get the best tickets andif I use a presale then it's better than having to cope with jammed phones and websites crashing at 9am on the first day of the main sale.

I'm just guessing though. I know I wouldn't have been able to get tickets to the upcoming Faith No More reunion, the recent extremely rare Cat Stevens concert I attended and Pearl Jam's one-off London show in August without the help of presales.

I have tried presales in the past though and the tickets available haven't been great. I think it depends on the show.

I remember those front row tickets popping up! It's hard to know what to do though. If you wait you could totally miss out but then if you chance it you might end up with a fantastic seat a couple of weeks before the show. If this is their only London date I think it will sell out and there will be less of a chance of good seats popping up at the last minute, but you never know. Damn, what to do

I'm sure they will add more dates. The Saturday night appears free at Wembley right now. I'm thinking of getting as good as I can for the NIA and if any crackers turn up I'll see if I can resist... (or not..lol). I can't really afford multiple shows but I find it very hard to pass up front row!

Yes. At the wishes of the band. I was front row anyway so stood up at the stage as soon as I got there. There was only one night when a couple of people in the front row beside us refused to stand.. and kicked anyone who stood in front of them. They tried to complain to the venue about people standing but got nowhere.

They were sat right in front of Stevie. No one was in front of them for the first half of the show. I got kicked a couple of times when I moved slightly in front of them. But towards the end of the show tons of people piled forward so there was nothing they could do

Only if Christine McVie writes to me personally and swears on her recipe book that she'll play with them.

What I meant w/ the pre-sale comment was that yes, you'd have better luck waiting for the general public sale or for the ticket drops. But things across the pond may work differently than here ?? I would suggest waiting 'til the last minute...that is, if you can!

Did they do any shows that had standing or do they always do fully seated shows? I've never been seated at any show in the UK other than Eric Clapton when my parents got the tickets and didn't want to stand. Seated shows are just not as energetic in terms of the crowd, I've found.

Always seated. But it was made clear we could stand right from the start. They shouldn't have bothered with the floor seats!

That's fair enough then. Maybe the cheapest seated tickets make them more money than standing tickets? How far forward do you generally have to be to be standing or is it just everyone on the ground?

Lately, I've noticed several arena acts selling GA seats for the floor and seated everywhere else (Springsteen, NIN/Jane's Addiction). I think that's a great idea. I'd take a standing GA ticket over a seated one any day. Unless it's a small, intimate venue where it really would be inappropriate to stand.

Yeah, seriously! In 2003, I was at the doors 10 minutes before opening and stood front row. It was all about fast running (unlike Genesis 2007 where we waited 8 hours in the rain)!
I just hope that they do not get the glorious idea to seat people in the arena they're playing.

I am so excited about the UK shows!!! What are the chances they will add more London shows? If I go, it will be in London so I'm really interested to see if there will be any other dates.

Also...not that its a big deal...but does anyone know if they will allow people to take pictures at the UK shows??? I flew over twice last year to see French and Saunders (comediennes) and you absolutely CANNOT take pics at theater shows. They will seriously yell at you. Two other comedians walked in BEFORE the show had even started and we all took pics and they yelled at us. It had something with copyrights or whatever...couldn't even take pics of just the inside of the theater. Is it the same for concerts? I don't think it could be...I'm thinking that the venue would be entirely too large to control something like that. I'm just wondering if I'll actually be able to attend some sort of show and walk out with a few pics to remember the night by

This is just how I feel about the Glasgow one. I think there's even less chance of them adding more there so I'm just going to get the best ticket I can, but the priority is getting it asap so I don't miss out.

In those cases I'd prefer the band to be back in the studio too.

As for the pre-sale issue, I think it's worth seeing what comes up in the pre-sale and if it isn't great, waiting for the general sale or for the ticket drops. It's worth checking out what's available for each sale though.

I have just spoken to Ticketmaster and they have said that according to the information on the website there are two pre-sales one via 02 if you are signed up to rcv their txt or emails you should be eligible. There is also the Wembley Arena pre-sale which they wouldn't give any info on just go on to the Wembley website - you then get directed to Live Nation!!!!:distress:

I just used the O2 website to order a ticket for Manchester. Go to http://www.o2blueroom.co.uk/Portal/Pages/Home.aspx then search for FM and click on the link to buy the tickets. I didn't get asked for a password or code at any stage and got myself a ticket for block B, row F. Not quite as good as when I stood with you in the front row two nights running but it will do. I'm not an O2 customer either.

I just did the same searches and got the same results for a single ticket in Birmingham and Sheffield but it probably helps I was only looking for one ticket. I guess I just got lucky for Manchester today.

Last tour I got a front row seat twice, once in Manchester and once in Birmingham, through the normal online sales. I was a fair way back for the Newcastle and second Birmingham concert andwas supposed to be for the second Manchester one but blagged my way to the front by presenting the previous night's ticket with my thumb over the date :D

Speaking of the cost of the tickets, how on Earth can Ticketmaster get away with charging £2 to deliver an email to me with a link for me to print the ticket myself. All in all the ticket came to £85.25 including the £8.25 service charge as well.

Pre-sales do not guarantee good tickets... but you might get lucky. Live Nation pre-sale is tomorrow at 9am. Just register and log in before 9 and see what you can find. Unfortunately it seems the touts somehow manage to grab the best seats from the pre-sales judging by what has appeared on ebay this morning. I wish I knew ho they managed to get most of them

Of course I remember :) A lot has happened since then. I've got married and now have a 1 year old daughter. My wife still doesn't like FM though, despite me taking her to the Newcastle concert in 2003, which is why I'll be on my own again for this one.

Ahhh This is just the news I have been waiting for. No internet for a week and I miss all this. Unbelievable.....

Does anyone know is it Aiken promotions or MCD promoting it in Ireland.
I just contacted the 02 Arena and they said more official information will is being released tomorrow.

I want a front row Lindsey side of stage more than you can imagine. I might settle for second row too. What is the best way to get good tickets apart from buying from Touts of course

If there are no shows surfacing in Germany or Holland before saturday I think I'd buy ticket for the London-show and threat myself to a little vacation overthere...

Back in 2004 only a handful shows in UK, Ireland and Germany were the European Tour, it looks like it's going to be the same way this time around...why 5 shows in the UK already announced and no shows eslewhere?

Well, as Tom Petty once sung: The waiting is the hardest part...

Who knows if these guys will ever tour again... Wouldn't it be swell if Christine joined them for at least ONE song? She wouldn't even have to be there for one that she sings on up front... Even if she got up there and sang and played her instrument along with everyone else or smacked those macarana things around. Just something to say hey hello!

There was a link for the o2 email earlier in this thread. It worked for me and I'm not a customer. I didn't find anything decent for Birmingham though. They were sat right in front of Stevie. No one was in front of them for the first half of the show. I got kicked a couple of times when I moved slightly in front of them. But towards the end of the show tons of people piled forward so there was nothing they could do

The UK touts/scalpers don’t get priority in the pre-sales but what they do is buy all the debenture seats and more often these will be the best. When UK venues are redeveloping/modernising, they often sell debentures as a way to raise the capital. There are a number of tax breaks that work for the venue and purchaser. The debenture means that the purchaser owns a specific seat for a minimum of five years – some are for a lifetime.

To illustrate, I have a debenture seat at Wimbledon. I bought it as an investment in 2006. It provides me with the same centre court seat for every day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships for 5 years. I use an agency to sell the tickets I don’t want to use. Over the five years I will sell on enough tickets to cover the initial investment and get a modest profit.

I also have a debenture seat at the MEN Arena. This works slightly differently in that I get 200 tickets a year and I just tell them which shows I want to go to and then either give the tickets away or sell them to an agency. The MEN holds back the best seats to allow the debenture holders to confirm whether they are going or not.

I think the problem for fans (particularly in the UK) is that corporate financing has been difficult for a few years, particularly on capital build projects – in the UK you can only sell debentures when undertaking a building/construction programme. Therefore organisations have sold more seats off to raise funds and this reduces what is available through normal booking office outlets. And of course those buying debentures see it as a relatively low risk investment but want a return on their investment. The basic economics mean that I can either get £50 from the ticket office at Manchester for my seat or get £100 from the Double8 Agency.

I haven’t established whether the US has a similar system.

Isn't that the same as having season tickets to a venue and having first crack at tickets to shows when they go onsale - buying said show tickets, then flipping them on the ticketsnow site (or other) for a higher price then paid? If so, then essentially yeah, same idea. Except this way you don't buy the seats in the beginning like you're buying a piece of property, you just have the option of buying your season ticket seats for the face value to the show.

After having problems buying Green Day tickets I thought I would buy the best tickets offered , to make sure I got some, for Sheffield in the O2 presale which were Block B Row 20. By chance I found out Sheffield Arena were doing their own presale on Thursday and I managed to pull, which I still can't quite believe, CENTRE BLOCK B ROW 3 and Block A Row 6. I have got rid of the Row 20 tickets and will hopefully do the same with Row 6. Last time (and first time) I saw them was in Newcastle and I was in Row 4 and never thought I would top that!

Have you heard of anyone getting front row for any of the shows Pip?
Nope. Just the second row for Wembley and someone on Fireflies got a single second row for Sheffield. I did the best out of the Fireflies for Birmingham with 10th row

My Glasgow seat isn't too bad. Block JJ, wich is right at the front to the left of the stage, and about 10 - 12 rows back. Not the very front but I would have been, and am, thrilled with getting any seat in the front blocks!

I did get it at the live nation presale though. It's a shame that similar tickets don't seem to be available on the general sale.

Woohoo! Got my tickets for Sheffield this morning. Tried and tried calling the Arena well before 9, but it was constantly busy. Got 'em off Ticket Master instead. Section BK-A row 56 (looks like middle floor seating). I don't care how close or far they are - I just want to see the band again. The only thing I'm worried about - and I know this is silly - is that I got them off Ticket Master. I hope they haven't conned me...

On another matter does anyone think they will put on more UK dates - there are a few gaps? And last time didn't they put on about 5 more about a week later?

I have bought tickets off Ticketmaster many times and never had a problem. Sheffield Arena did have a presale yesterday though (which I found out about by chance) and I got more or less straight through at 9 am. Thought that might be useful to know for future reference. They were selling good seats as well.

VIP experience tickets available here:

http://www.livenationexperience.co.uk/category/details.aspx?id=276

£175 per ticket though! But you get to choose where they are. Front row seats available for Birmingham!

Edit: £190 a ticket for London

And just to add... no wonder there weren't any front blocks for Birmingham available today. They are all on here! These are the sort of tix that don't sell and then become available just before the shows.

I know! They should limit it to the first 10 rows at the very least. It's a lot of money for a 15th row seat, a tour book and a plastic "VIP" pass (which is pretty much meaningless).

Crumbs!!! thats over a whole weeks wages (with overtime) for me. definately can't afford to go at that price. Besides, when I first went 6 years ago, things back then were really different and to go again now would just spoil all those fun memories, so ......there'll be at least one empty seat for someone else to grab.

You know what's weird? I haven't seen any of the prime grand tier tickets for Wembley on sale at all (they are the side lower tiers closest to the stage). When I was doing searches on Ticketmaster they never came up, only the upper tiers. Seetickets never had tickets for them, I don't see them as an option in the Livenation VIP thing, Seatwave have none and I can only find one seller on eBay with them and even those are halfway back. Weird.
Those would be the next best thing for me.

I can't stand it, why announcing an extra UK date while there are plenty of more countries in Europe!!

Where are the Belgium, Dutch, French, German and all the other dates? I'm sure they can sell out in each country....I'm dying to see them, but prefer to see them closer to home then flying to London...so I'm a huge doubt of ordering tickets (ans spent a lot of money on tranfers and hotel) for London or wait for any Dutch or nearby German (Oberhausen will be great) dates. I don't want to be disapointed when I wait to lang that Wembley is sold out...

Hey, another Dutchie here :wavey:
I'm not counting on any dates in Holland, simply because the last time they played here was in 1990 and it wasn't even sold out. I'm really hoping for Oberhausen, since they also played there in '04. My guess is that after the UK, a few dates in Germany and maybe France they're heading to Australia.

There are quite a few cheap hotels near Wembley (which is not in central London). You might be able to get a cheap flight too. Try looking for flights to Luton or Stanstead. Also flybe do a flight from Amsterdam to Southampton and from there you'd have a train journey of about 1 hour 15 minutes. The train station is 5 minutes walk from the airport. How does €82.63 sound?

Last time FM played Holland was 1994 (Time Line-up), but I afree with you. I highly doubt any Holland-date. They are nof that known and popular anymore. Ask anyone and it's a band from the past. No one knows that they released SYW a few years back etc. The pre-sale of Berlin is postphoned...maybe thay wanted to await the results of the UK-sales...but I still don't get why they announce 6 UK-dates officialy and none on mainland Europa (except for the Berlin one)....I'll play my cards on Oberhausen. As for it being unfair that they are playing two London dates, well, you're right but it makes economic sense since they are already here.

I think it's all planned by now Liza. When a band/Artist does a tour in Europe than most of the time we get all the tourdates in one week. That is just the way it works. Just take a look at dates from U2, Tina Turner, Mark Knopfler, Paul Simon, Coldplay..... They all put out the dates for Europe in one week at some times at the same day.. Since we got the UK dates from FM last week i think this week we will have some new dates for Europe....
