This is a good aricle, and at the end, Lindsey kind of disses the whole "VIP" thing.

Bogus marketing idiocy. The real VIP is the guy who DOESN'T have to pay to stand next to Stevie Nicks.
Thanks for snagging the article, jk. Did you see the article & photos on Mac in the Union-Tribune earlier this week? I think it was on Wednesday.

“I guess a lot of people are doing it, but in my world, for my set of sensibilities, I find it a little distasteful,” Fleetwood Mac singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham said from Los Angeles.
“Having said that, if there's a market for it and it appeals to a certain number of people – and, more importantly, if Mick wants to go out (and do it) – who wants to say no? But there's a little cheese (factor) there.”
 Lindsey is awesome, even if he does backtrack a little at the end. I do think it's cool that Mick is donating some of that money to charity though.

Well he always looked so THRILLED to be part of the photos with fans!! ha ha Yeah I don't see it happening anytime soon either..... :distress: (oh and I'm talking about the photos with the whole band in Arizona I think it was?? NOT the backstage outside the venue fan meeting photos......)

I agree with David. If you have to pay to get next to any celeb your not really a VIP.
Joe Walsh used to do it for free for members of his fan club. I got to go to one of his last free ones last memorial day in Newark. Then he married Ringo's sister in law and, like Mick, started doing ILAA VIP M&Gs. ILAA wanted thousands for the same thing I got six months earlier for free. Walsh gave us each a LROOE ball cap, guitar pick, braclet and signed what ever we wanted.
I met Lindsey and his kids last fall at the Grove of Anaheim and after the show he grateously signed autographs, took pictures and charged us nothing. I got one of Lindsey's guitar picks from Will after the concert and talked to Leelee right before the concert. Again all for free. :] That's the real VIP experience.

I agree.
Whatever anyone wants to say about Lindsey, the two times I've had my "close encounters" with him off-stage, he's been incredibly sweet and generous with his time. And there was no sense that he felt he was making a sacrifice to be there. In fact, the second time we caught up with him, it was almost like hanging out a bit with an old friend. He was joking and relaxed and seemed to enjoy himself.
Even Stevie, who has the whole Diva-esque thing going for her, has been a doll when I've seen her off-stage. Very gracious and kind. There was no sense that "well, you've paid me so now I will give you an audience with the king/queen."
I wouldn't trade those "free" moments, given out of whatever is in their hearts (even if deep down they may consider it just part of being a celeb) for all the meet and greets in the world.

Completely agree with the last two posts. Carol, what awesome experiences you had and that must have felt great knowing they weren't doing it for the money, but just to be kind.

Yes, I didn't know Mick was donating part of it to charity. That's really nice.
Thanks for posting.
I've done four VIP packages this tour, but I've never gotten the meet and greet with Mick. I would love to talk to these guys if we ever had something in common. Maybe if we had the same dentist or something and we could compare notes. I would also love it if I had an expertise in something (but I have an expertise in nothing, really) and they came to me for advice and we could relate on that level.
But I never want to meet anyone coming to them as a fan to their "star."
