That's an interesting take on Lindsey's role in the show.

Well, Lindsey-haters will agree.

But, I would totally snooze if Lindsey hadn't been ego-stroking (some might call it giving the audience what they want) during that MSG concert, in particular.

Perez was lucky he didn't go to that concert (or some other early concerts on the tour) or he may not have been so quick to praise one member of FM at the expense of another.

I just saw this on his website...very, very jealous!! While I'm a Stevie girl all the way, I've come to really like Lindsey and couldn't believe that Perez was so negative about him. When I saw them in April, I stood there, just a few rows back and watched his fingers play that guitar and was just completely in awe of him...his guitar playing is probably the best I have ever seen.

It's a fairly common view. I've heard it a lot over the years.

Well, I agree with you there but it's kind of slanted.
We're not talking about a group of people where one is grandstanding and the other three are total wallflowers.

John and Chris are/were more subdued in the way they deliver a performance. That's a given.

Mick, given the opportunity, can ham it up with the best. Luckily, he reins it in for most of the concert.

But, the argument can (and, IMO, should) be made that both Lindsey and Stevie have taken their turns being slightly over-the-top performers. And I think, individually, if you're a fan, that's kind of what you love about each of them. Yes, Stevie has slowed down (and that's what a good many of us have been bitching about lately--that she hasn't done what she's been doing all these years), but there are times when she's in full scenery-chewing mode. Same goes for Lindsey. And, I think the contrast has been really apparent because he still can/is willing/wants to perform in the "old" style and she either can't/is not willing/doesn't want to and has toned it down so that the differences are apparent.

But, really, Lindsey is doing what he's been doing all along. So, should he tone it down to Frank Sinatra sitting on a stool performance level to match Stevie or should he still "bring it," when probably 9/10ths of the audience are there to relive the days of their youth and want/expect to see it even though probably half of that audience doesn't even have the strength to stand for even 3 songs themselves?

Uh...where was I going with this?
I forget! But there's a point in there somewhere.

Oh, yeah. I just don't think he should be criticized now for something he's been doing all along and something Stevie has done herself (and I wish she'd do more of again). I like my FM at the Diva/Divo level.

Me three!

there can NEVER EVER be too much Lindsey! Don't get me wrong...I freaking love Stevie, but Lindsey makes the show a lot more interesting.

Perez is an annoying little man.

If you like fleetwood mac, you can't hate lindsey. If you do, go to stevie-soloshows, but don't comment on fleetwood mac shows.

So if this is a commonview, it has NOTHING to do with being a Fleetwood Mac-fan. In FM's hightime with Christine, Lindsey also played GYOW, ISA, Oh Well, long solo's on Rhiannon, SOTM, Not That Funny etcetera. In this show he's not doing anything more than he always did.

Oh man, why am I responding to this idiot?

Just a little tidbit, here's a list of the celebrities who were spotted at the show last night:

Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Ashley Olsen, Justin Bartha, Nicole Richie, Natalie Maines, Mischa Barton, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Eliza Dushku, Rick Fox, Michelle Branch, George Lopez, Alan Thicke and Tom Petty.

I could care less about any of those except for Tom Petty! I'm glad he was able to make it. I know how proud he is of Stevie.

I guess it's cool that Natalie Maines was there... at least she saw how "Landslide" is done correctly! ;)

This is fun to know and I'm glad so many young entertainers went to the show. The only celebrity I saw was Kelsey Grammar.

I'm going to say this and then shut up...I really understand that Stevie is considered the main attraction of FM, and that "most people go to FM shows to see Stevie" but I'm honestly tired of hearing it. I'm quite happy being in the minority and thinking Lindsey is the greatest thing about the band, but I'm also very fair in my praise of Stevie at the same time. I find many of the Stevie lovers- like this idiot Perez (who is an idiot because he's disgustingly irrelevant and completely unfunny and NOT because he prefers Stevie)- to be absolutely unfair in their one-sidedness. And it's obvious because, from what I've heard, he only mentions Stevie Nicks as if she is the only member in the band, purposely misspells Lindsey's name, and if he says anything about LB at all it's either making fun of how he looks or mentioning how unnecessary he is to FM.

I've always had a different perspective because I became a fan of this band because of my love for Lindsey and his music and talent. I love the other members and definitely appreciate their talent, but I find it's really wrong at this point in time/history for people to be bashing Lindsey in such a way. His input in Fleetwood Mac is immeasurable. And he's incredible live. Just because some people can't see it doesn't mean he deserves to be slighted or given the "ego-stroking" quips. He puts on a show and delivers and, I'm sorry, but he delivers it to the max. And even if you don't like it, it isn't your thing, etc. you have to acknowledge that. And this cretin purposely chooses not to.

Perez Hilton isn't funny. None of the remarks he makes are either interesting or humorous. He's famous for crashing celebrity parties and drawing white scribbles over pictures. His impact on society is simply due to the rise in celebrity blogs and the fact that he's somehow made a name for himself by talking about celebrities and posing in pics with them. He's also good on knowing what is popular with people of a certain demographic and capitalizing on it. It creeps me out that whatever band I may love/adore for their artistic capabilities will suddenly pop up on his site because the lead singer is hot or gay or said something irreverent and now HE likes them...for every reason other than their music. I can't stand him and, quite frankly, if you're going to visit a celebrity blog that does it right...go here (http://www.dlisted.com) instead. That's one that I honestly think does their thing with some humor attached.

Totally rocks that Tom Petty was there. And he's friends with Lindsey as well. In his bio he mentions how amazing it was to work with LB.

I LOVE Natalie Maines. She's got a beautiful voice. I thought that song she did w/Stevie was really brought to life by her voice. And the Dixie Chicks will always be cool to me.

Unfortunately, I do not recognize Lindsey's voice -- well, unless he's screaming on a Warren Zevon song or on Egan's Where's the Party.

But I agree with Tom. Whoever the heck it was who did those background vocals on Walls, they really rocked it!

I went on a road trip last weekend and listened to the "She's the One" soundtrack (twice) from Dallas to Austin. I listened to just "Walls" about 4 times. I love all the vocal layering on it!

His advise to Lindsey that "You are there to service the songs and service the audience. Not service yourself" is a total insult. Leave it that pudgy slime ball to use the verb service, three times in one sentence. Know this Perez;, :sorry:Lindsey would never in a million, and I do mean million, years serviceyou! LOL! :blob2:

He's a dumb ass. Exactly, who cares  what he thinks.
