This was in The West Australian newspaper today (6th May 2009):

"A bidding war has erupted as top Australian promoters jostle to bring legendary rock group Fleetwood Mac to Australia next summer. The band, without singer and keyboard player Christine McVie, played two sell-out shows at the WACA Ground in 2004, with singer Stevie Nicks returning for a solo gig alongside John Farnham at the same venue two years later. The first Mac attack at the WACA sold out within hours, so the promoters are super keen to land what is rumoured to be Fleetwood Mac's farewell world tour before they go their own way, again. A source told The West that we could expect to see Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie here in December or January."

So I'm excited!!!! :blob2:

Well if they are talking about Australia at the end of the year then I guess Europe would be before that?

I only hope they come to Perth, we often miss out because we are so far from all the other Australian cities...

Ok. This is great news. :D

Over here though we usually hear about tours and dates for huge bands like FM at least 3/4 months in advance (except for festivals and such, but the Mac have made their position on those very clear, at least for 09 anyway.:P) So, If they're gonna do Australia AFTER Europe, then wouldnt they wanna be finished up in Europe in like, November? So shouldnt we hear dates, ticket prices, etc. like... NOW? or at least before May is out.

I'm gonna be super pissed if this European leg is badly handled...:distress:

If the info is correct than Australia will come after Europe.
I think they will do Europe in September Oktober and after a few weeks time off move on to Australia. If FM will do Europe in these months than i think we will have new dates and info in June!! Anayone else???

If Fleetwood Mac plays Oz at least, I'll be there.

Bumpity bump!

Checked Ticketek this arvo as I always do and noticed that they now have the Fleetwood Mac waitlist on their home page. Sure, they're saying it's for a potential Australian tour, and the waitlist has probably been available for ages, but I totally squeed anyway. The Nickelback waitlist turned into the real deal (unfortunate but true) after a month or so on the home page so my fingers are crossed!

In any case, there's little Mac faces on Ticketek - squee worthy I tell you! :blob2:

Paul McCartney heads star tour acts heading to Australia

August 09, 2009 12:00am
PAUL McCartney is planning Australian concerts as part of his final world tour next year.

His plan to include Australia in his farewell tour coincides with a decision by other superstars, including Fleetwood Mac and Neil Diamond, to play Down Under this year and in 2010.

British reports say Sir Paul, 67, wants to perform the shows at famous landmarks.

China's Tiananmen Square and Berlin's Checkpoint Charlie are on his wish-list. Several Brazil dates are set for April.

Fleetwood Mac, with frontwoman Stevie Nicks, is strongly tipped to do arena and select winery dates in December.

Agreed!

These shows can be risky - they are usually highly priced, the weather can ruin them, acoustics are often difficult and the traffic/parking issues at these places make them a right pain!

It will be inetresting to see if any eventuate. The promoters seem to talk the artists into them. I don't think Stevie will like them - imagine if she has to get up at 8am for an afternoon show?

Meh, I think FM could pull an even better show at a small venue if they got into the audience more. At this point, its basically all Lindsey working the crowd-- and he does it well, let me tell you. Being close to the stage, he really interacts with the audience. In a smaller venue, there will be a lot less people sitting around looking bored in the average or nosebleed seats. I tend to find that less people in smaller venues = a more personal experience and probably, a more personal aura coming from the band.

That's what I've noticed with most bands that I have seen in both big and smaller venues. I donno if Mac will be the same.

In terms of Australia... probably Sydney and Melbourne. My best friend's parents just got divorced and her dad went back home to Melbourne, so I'll definitely be there within the year considering her and I are attached at the hip. :)

There was a interview with stevie posted on this website. It was for radio and she said this was going to be a huge tour. After the american part of the tour they most likely would go to Europe and perhaps also Australia. Well, she was right on that one...... After this they would maybe do some more shows in the states.... The interview was posted over here...... Maybe you can still find it....

Fleetwood Mac Is Coming To Town
by Paul Cashmere - August 13 2009

You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I’ll tell you why. Fleetwood Mac is coming to town.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of the Fleetwood Mac Unleashed tour is expected to kick off in New Zealand in late December with Australian dates early January..

Ticketmaster New Zealand has announced the tour and has added a waitlist for tickets to the site. “Fleetwood Mac, one of the most popular rock bands in history, are coming to New Zealand as part of their upcoming tour,” the statement reads.

This will be Fleetwood Mac’s first tour of Australia in 5 years. It will feature Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie but not Christine McVie. Christine retired from the band a decade ago and is happily living back in the UK.

Sheryl Crow also won’t be in the band although there was a rumour that she was going to replace Christine at one stage. In a telephone hook-up with Undercover to announce the World Tour, Stevie Nicks confirmed that was true. “We were ready to go in and called her and needed her to come for two or three days to just play. It was Mother’s Day and she had invited 300 people in her family there. It was her first Mother’s Day as a mom and she could not do it. At that point she said “I am going to have to pass”. I said “I think you are making the right decision. You have a new baby, you have survived breast cancer and Lance Armstrong. I don’t think this is the right thing for you”. That is what happened with Sheryl Crow. She is still our friend and I still adore her. She is one fm my dearest friends,” she said.

An announcement is expected next week.

More winery talk....

Fleetwood Mac To Play Australian Wineries

by Paul Cashmere - August 15 2009

Expect an announcement any day now for Fleetwood Mac playing the Australian wineries as part of their Unleashed tour.

The Australian and New Zealand tour is set for December and will include the winery shows, Undercover hears.

Current published dates for Fleetwood Mac’s Unleashed tour go through to the European tour in November. Australasia is next.

The Unleashed tour is a greatest hits tour. There is no new music from Fleetwood Mac in the works. In a phone hook-up with Undercover, Lindsey Buckingham said that not having new music on this tour "frees you up to enjoy each other as people. Let’s have a good time and value the friendships and history. It takes the pressure off and allows more fun than we would normally be able to have."

The Fleetwood Mac line-up is Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Christine McVie has been out of the band for more than a decade now and happily living the retired life in England. "I’ve been the only girl in Fleetwood Mac since 1998, so I’m used to it now,” Stevie said during the conference all. “But I miss Christine. The loss of Christine as one of my best girlfriends was horrific to me. Not a day goes by that I don’t wish she would call up and say, 'I’m back.' "

Fleetwood Mac Australian dates will be announced this week.

Imminent announcement of dates - awesome. That sounds more certain than the last article.

Persistent talk of winery dates - pretty average.

If they play a couple of wineries in addition to the regular venues in the major markets, that's cool, but if they choose to do only winery shows in certain states at the expense of a regular venue, that's not so cool.

Thankfully, Qld's not overly famous for its wineries, although there is this pesky little one about five minutes down the road from me which some artists seem to be fond of playing.

Wineries just seem far too refined for the Mac. I want indoor loudness!

Dream of my life that will never, ever happen:

Fleetwood Mac plays a show at both the Oracle (Oakland) and HP Pavillion (San Jose), followed by an evening at the GORGEOUS winery venue up the street from me. My dad is close friends with the owner so I'd be guaranteed outstanding tickets and most likely a little backstage time.

AND the place has a total mysical atmosphere-- 180 degree view of the Bay Area; the stage is against the original old, vine-covered main building. Stevie would love it.

Sigh, to dream.

Really, when we effectively mean Australia and NZ, why don't we just say so? It only takes two more words.

I can't wait for those dates to be confirmed so I can start planning. I think some holidays are in order.

Disappointing that Adelaide is not there in those rumoured dates though. I hope that doesn't end up being the case.

Well that's good news for us here in Oz. I think they will be confirmed soon.

I'm surprised about two dates in each of the four largest cities. I am not convinced they will sell out, but I guess the promoters do their research, so hopefully I will be wrong.

The next step is see if the presales suck here like they did in the states. They were genuine when Stevie toured here in 2006 - I got a front row centre at the minute they came online - in contrast to my third row at FM's LA show in May purchased at 7.15pm on the night!

I'm SOOO excited for all of my Ledgie buddies in Oz and New Zealand, as well as the UK and Europe- as finally they get to see FM there! I know for a few friend's - they've already told me that FM hasn't been to their state since 1980, so I'm SO happy for everyone.. I, too hope that they aren't burnt out when they get out there! I'm starting to get a little pumped again, as they will be touring in another 10 weeks? So I sure hope they are getting some good R & R in there now..

People want more value from entertainment."

Promoters could end up out of pocket if bidding wars continue to drive fees for marquee acts over guarantees of more than $1 million per show.

Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, Neil Diamond and U2 are all being courted to tour Australia in 2010.

Fleetwood Mac have leaked their Australian summer concert dates which includes shows at the Hope Estate Winery on December 5 and Acer Arena on December 7 and 8.

All promoters will keep a close eye on Fleetwood Mac's ticket price and how quickly the shows sell to determine whether the demand for nostalgia acts remains high.

While Chugg is confident the Pearl Jam concert will sell out before the band land in town, there are still plenty of tickets to most tours already announced.

Pop acts such as Beyonce and Britney Spears and rock band Green Day still haven't posted sold-out signs on their upcoming tours.

The rumoured arrival of Fleetwood Mac on West Australian shores appears to be true, with the band believed to be playing at Member's Equity Stadium on December 11 and 12.

The band are gearing up for their Unleashed greatest hits tour, with fans hoping a New Zealand and Australian leg will be confirmed.

It seems some more big musical acts could also be headed to Perth later this year - that's if some cryptic clues delivered by the management of Member's Equity Stadium at a recent event are anything to go by.

Allia Venue Management chief executive officer Peter Bauchop addressed a crowd of sports representatives assembled for a night of celebration at the venue hinting at big things to come. And the events had nothing to do with sport.

"I don't want to spread any rumours, and I would much rather stay alive, than take the glory and the consequences," he said.

He told the crowd the months of November and December would be huge for the arena, but insisted that he was only joking around and could not confirm anything.

But the guessing games started with hopes that his reference to "rumours" referred to Fleetwood Mac's legendary album,"stay alive" to Pearl Jam's hit Alive and "take the glory" to Badly Drawn Boy.

Pearl Jam is playing at the stadium on November 14. Tickets are on sale now.

There is now a list of major acts heading for the city, including Beyonce, Marilyn Manson, Britney Spears, Greenday and ACDC.

So much speculation about the Australian and New Zealand Fleetwood Mac concert dates wraps up today with a presale open now on the Myer One Box Office site, apparently. Dates currently available for shows in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Hunter Valley (winery venue). Tickets are billed as first 5 rows and range from $210 for "B Reserve" to minimum $714 for "Front Row Reserve". The venues include most posted last weekend on back-up singer Jana Anderson's MySpace page but the dates differ. In fact, the show schedule posted on Myer One's presale matches the opening dates my cryptic tipster gave me: December 1 and 2 in Melbourne.

Here are the dates from Myer One:

December 1 & 2, Rod Laver Arena, MELBOURNE
December 5, Hunter Valley Hope Estate Winery, POKOLBIN NSW
December 7 & 8, Acer Arena, SYDNEY
December 11 & 12, Me Bank Stadium, PERTH
December 15 & 16, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, BOONDALL QLD

The dates previously on Jana's MySpace have been removed, but they were:

December 1 and 2, Brisbane, Entertainment Center
December 5, Hunter Valley, Hope Estate Winery
December 7 and 8, Sydney, Acer Arena
December 11 and 12, Perth, Members Equity
December 15 and 16, Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
December 19, New Zealand - possibly Christchurch

So it looks like only a Melbourne/Brisbane switch and another announcement to follow for a NZ show.

Being in the U.S., I don't have any experience with ticket brokers downunder so please do your research before purchasing from the link posted. Has anyone purchased from Myer One already? It's weird that both Ticketmaster NZ, Ticketmaster AU, Ticketek AU and LiveNation AU still have their Fleetwood Mac wait lists up as of this writing with no mention of tour dates, let alone presale. Go figure? Guess brokers in Australia really do have the inside track.

Australia's HeraldSun reports rumors of Fleetwood Mac booking arena and 'winery' venues this December. Huh? To a Californian like me, this conjures a wonderful scene of wine tasting and vineyard hopping with Fleetwood Mac leading the way. Well, not too far off apparently.

My Twitter friend Mark Cox schooled me on Australia and New Zealand's winery concert venues. "A Day on the Green" is the lingo used to describe such events at select wineries in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia as well as five wineries in New Zealand. The website banner says, "Listen up! Tour announcements imminent!" telling visitors to sign up for show notifications.

The open-air venues will host the likes of The B-52's with The Proclaimers in November and Rob Thomas next February. It seems there's not been a band of iconic status such as Fleetwood Mac perform A Day on the Green and there's much buzz about the rumors among fans of the winery venues. Oh, and unlimited wine is included in the ticket price, which undoubtedly ratchets it up a few levels.

We know of Mick's love of wine and his own Private Cellar label. Is that a connection with the winery shows? So curious. I hope it happens. I'll be jelly. Fleetwood Mac in the fresh air with unlimited wine is enough to make any fan jealous of another. Woot?

*I also got a cryptic tip that Fleetwood Mac's Australian Unleashed tour leg will begin in Melbourne on December 1, 2009, with shows around the country until December 18th. Guess we'll see how credible that is soon enough.

I got an email late yesterday afternoon notifying of the presale through Preferred Seating. Same deal as Myer One, first five rows for sale, up to $715 (US$590). Oddly enough though the pre-sale doesn't seem to come up on any of the sites if you go to them directly. And the dates haven't been released officially anywhere else, including on Ticketek, which seems very strange.

Anyway, ever since I've been contemplating whether or not I should grab two front row tickets now. To be honest, $715 is a fair bit more than I would've hoped to have paid, and part of me objects to paying such a price to see any band from the first few rows, FM or not.

But then, this will likely be my first and only opportunity to see FM here in Australia, and I'm thinking I should just do it. I can see myself not scoring anything in the first few rows if I wait it out to the public sale, and then I'll be kicking myself for not having as great a seat a I could. I'm also fortunately at a time when I can actually afford the ticket without too much heartache.

Any sage advice from the experienced FM concert-goers? Is securing a front row seat worth the extra money? Or should I hold out and see what comes up through the regular channels?

Gah! I find ticket purchases so stressful!

SO worth it. I had front row center for the Oakland show (my ticket literally said "Row: 1 Seat: 1") and it was absolutely phenomenal. Since they took all the security out towards the stage, I literally had my elbows on the stage the entire night, 5 feet from Stevie. However, I don't know if they're doing it there like they did here-- the first 10 rows were all allowed to walk up to the stage so it was all a matter of getting there before other people did.

Personally I would never pay brokers money for front row seats. Yes it is amazing to be down there but you are usually talking serious cash. I have ok'ish seats for the show I'm going to but usually a few seats down the front are released in the weeks before they show. If they are I'll grab some then

Hey doubtful... when fm and stevie were here seperately a few years ago, the first 3 rows were allowed up to the front of the stage. And therefore it really was a first in, first up thing. As soon as the lights went down.. to the stage you go! Hmmmm. I'm not paying $715. I live in melbourne, but will go to the winery show for sure, as it is something different to remember. Will see them in sydney too (got good memories of that place as its where our stevie dearest dedicated HAEWAFY to me :xoxo:) I tell ya though... she knows how to pick the ones who will fly around the country to each show... ANYWAY: i'll be flying to nearly all the concerts... don't think i will go to all of them though, but haven' picked which ones i'll go to yet.

Thanks for that info. From memory I've never seen any rows let up to the front of the stage at a concert here in Brisbane, but that was one of my reservations about the front row tickets. No point paying the extra if 3rd row ends up getting to the stage as well. I'll keep that in mind.

I just wish the dates and prices would go up on Ticketek already. I'm so far showing an uncharacteristic amount of restraint and patience, but I don't know how much longer that can last :o

Andrew McManus appears to be the promoter too, according to the pre-sale email I received (not surprising really). Again though you'd reckon we might've heard something official from them by now. It really does seem to be a bit all over the shop at the moment.

Someone in high places must've been getting a little nervy after just two days of the pre-sale for premium tickets. There are now new, substantially reduced prices - front row down from $715 to $495.

Still reasonably high, but definitely better.

Patience and restraint have actually served me well for once!

I'm currently in negotiations with my wife about getting her to come with me to the Perth concert. At the moment she is saying she might come if I go with her to see Rob Thomas (arrgghh a pain worse than death!).

Slightly off the topic (in fact pretty much way off) but I had a dream about going to the FM concert last night and Bob Welch had rejoined the band. Pretty cool!

HI All,

I need advice - tickets on Preferred Seating are selling for about $250 for A Reserve at the Acer Arena - can anybody tell me if these are any good? Im prepared to pay that much but would prefer some assurance that they will be ok seats! Or would it be worth waiting until the Ticketek presale?? Ideally id like to be in a positon where I could go right to the front (wouldnt we all?)

Thanks in advance!

I think you're getting off really cheap. You'll be singing Smooth to yourself for weeks. I don't know what kind of live show that guy puts on, but I do like his music. I want him to work with Lindsey. If nothing else, I just want them to do NGBA. This is how a heart breaks.

No rumour: Fleetwood Mac heading to Bowl
By FELICITY ROOKES - Taranaki Daily News Last updated 05:00 22/08/
A Fleetwood Mac concert for New Plymouth was confirmed yesterday and for the first time at the Bowl of Brooklands fans will be close enough to see the perspiration on the performers' faces.

The veteran British band is hitting Taranaki on December 19 and the TSB Bowl of Brooklands is the only venue in New Zealand it will play.

Confirming the gig yesterday, New Plymouth District Council manager of business developments and events Garry Sharpe-Young said Fleetwood Mac was the concert of the year.

"They are one of the top 10 selling bands in the world," he said.

"Fleetwood Mac covers a broad range of people, everyone knows their songs."

Mr Sharpe-Young says securing the band is a major coup for New Plymouth.

"This is an A-list band and we are the only place in New Zealand that has them.

"All the major centres wanted Fleetwood Mac and I think it has a lot to do with the venue."

He says you have to be able to offer something different, something unique and that's what the Bowl is.

As with Cliff Richard and The Shadows, the new platform seating over the lake was a deciding factor for Fleetwood Mac.

"Artists like to get intimate with the audience," Mr Sharpe-Young said.

"We have taken note of what artists have said and are maximising the venue."

Mr Sharpe-Young says extra flights will be put on to New Plymouth to meet the demand of out-of-town concert goers.

Fleetwood Mac has not performed in New Zealand since 1980 when it played in Auckland and Wellington, attracting more than 80,000 people.

Singer Stevie Nicks performed at the Bowl in March 2006 in a double billing with John Farnham.

Fleetwood Mac is in its golden years, performing for more than 40 years. The band is touring the world with New Zealand one of the final stops.

It is made up of Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, drummer Mick Fleetwood and the bass player John McVie, for whom, together, the band is named.

There is no new album to promote but at a concert at Madison Square Gardens in March guitarist Buckingham hinted there might be one in the works.

Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and its 1977 album Rumours stayed at number one on the US charts for 31 weeks.

But what Fleetwood Mac fans want is the oldies, Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, Gypsy, Little Lies, Landslide and Rhiannon to name a few.

Word is that during the tour the band is sticking closely to its 1975 self-titled album, the first to feature the Buckingham-Nicks combo, and its follow-up two years later, Rumours, one of the biggest-selling albums of all time.

Fleetwood Mac heading to NZ
12:46PM Saturday Aug 22, 2009

Fleetwood Mac are promising to play all the songs which made them famous when they return to New Zealand for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The band have confirmed they will play a one-off, two-hour set at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on December 29 following the success of their 55-city North American tour.

The band said the tour had been enjoyable enough to add a two month stint through Europe and on to Australia and New Zealand.

"We're so happy to be back out on the road, where we'll perform everyone's favourite songs and see all our New Zealand fans," the band said.

Promoter Andrew McManus said the concert would be a "celebration of all the greatest hits" from the band, including Rhiannon, Dreams, The Chain, Tusk and Go Your Own Way.

My Little Demon & Enchanted Kiwi - the Bowl of Brooklands does have seats. It's a mix of seats on the lake edge and a grass "Bowl" ... hence the name :) I have been to shows both standing (well, picnic-ing I guess...) and seated. They put in extra seats for Elton John and if you look on the web you will see they are doing same for Cliff Richard there.
It is a super cool place and I recommend taking the walk through the park to get to the gig like the locals do. We will be a few car loads imposing on our friends there so there will be full houses bursting to the seams!!

where did you hear that ruby?...i have been at work all day so i havent had a chance to check the papers today....they normally (at least in sunny adelaide) announce them on a saturday....and mcmanus's site is only promoting chris bloody isaak....so no joy there...

I work for the Brisbane paper entertainment section. They interviewed Mick and I'm pretty sure it'll be going out in Sunday's paper to coincide with the release of the dates. We aren't allowed to mention the specific info but assuming it goes to press you will find out the dates in a matter of hours now anyway.

Fleetwood Mac latest to bowl up to New Plymouth

By Grant Smithies

Stevie Nicks is sitting in her living room in Santa Monica, dreaming of Taranaki.
"Oh, I loved it there, I really did" she says, recalling her solo show in New Plymouth in 2006. "So I can't wait to get back there so I can show the rest of the band around and they can see how beautiful it is."
The band is Fleetwood Mac, who are returning to New Zealand for the first time in nearly 30 years, to play a single New Zealand show at New Plymouth's Bowl of Brooklands in December.
Nicks is speaking during a break in the American leg of the tour. "The schedule is horrific to be honest with you. We've done 53 shows, with very few days off. At one point Mick Fleetwood said "Dah-ling! Have you noticed we never have two days off? I can't even get a good meal, or do any shopping!" We have a touring schedule that 30-year old musicians would baulk at, but we got through it."

Its Now Official, Fleetwood Mac To Tour Australia

by Paul Cashmere - August 23 2009

Fleetwood Mac will tour Australia in December.

The Australian leg of the Unleashed tour will start in Melbourne in December 1 and include a winery show in the Hunter Valley on December 5.

This will be Fleetwood Mac’s first Australian tour in 5 years, and with no new album, the setlist is completely greatest hits.

In a phone hook-up with Undercover at the start of the world tour Mick Fleetwood said, “This is the first time we've gone on the road without an album. This is truly a new experience for Fleetwood Mac to go out and play songs that we believe and hope people are going to be familiar with and love."

Australian dates are:

December 1, Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
December 5, Hunter Valley, Hope Estate Winery
December 7, Sydney, Acer Arena
December 11 and 12, Perth, Me Bank Stadium
December 15, Brisbane, Entertainment Centre

And finally something from the tour promoter:

(Bit unfortunate that 'upcoming' is misspelt in the url)

So not sure what happened to the 2nd dates in all of the other major cities. And Perth is actually the smallest of the four  . I suppose they will go ahead depending on sales for the first date, but odd that some pre-sales have already happened for them.

Oh that and last time both concerts sold out in Perth. Not sure that they did sell out anywhere else in the country. See we have more fans over here - probably because we are 20 years behind the rest of the country and everyone has only just discovered Fleetwood Mac. Their latest album Rumours is fantastic!

It's got to be one of the worst kept secrets in Australian touring this year, after the band posted dates on their Myspace page last week, but Andrew McManus has confirmed that legendary outfit Fleetwood Mac will tour Australia in December this year. The band will kick off the local leg of their 'Unleashed' tour in Melbourne on December 01, before visiting the Hunter Valley, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. They're also set to embark across the Tasman for a stop in New Plymouth in the week before Christmas. The setlist will comprise a collection of Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits and tickets for all dates are on sale Friday September 04.

December 01 : Melbourne (Rod Laver Arena)
December 05 : Hunter Valley (Hope Estate Winery)
December 07 : Sydney (Acer Arena)
December 11 : Perth (Members Equity Stadium)
December 12 : Perth (Members Equity Stadium)
December 15 : Brisbane (Entertainment Centre)

HUNTER conferences will get the chance to see rock super group Fleetwood Mac accomplish live when they play at Pokolbin's Hope Estate later this year.
The band, which recently finished a 55 city sold out tour of North America, will act a two hour plus show at Hope Estate on December 5.
The tour is its first in five years and will feature wonderful hits including Rhiannon, Dreams, Tusk, Go Your Own Way and Sara.
After the successful American tour, Fleetwood Mac also included a two month European leg.
The Australian tour will start at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on December 1 and then head to Hope Estate before accomplishment in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. Tickets are on sale through Ticketek from September 4.

The mystery of the two Perth shows appears to be solved.

According to the ME Stadium website, the FM shows are "Live From The Centre Circle - a special limited capacity intimate mode."

Tour Promoter Andrew McManus said:

“When I presented The Who in April I was blown away with the intense yet intimate feel the band and audience created within the first half of the ground, and so decided there and then that I would make sure everyone who came to the Fleetwood Mac concert could experience that “first half intimacy”. The only way to do it was to set the stage up at the “Centre Circle” and limit the capacity hence one show would have to become two. I’m really excited that every seat in the house will now be a great one to experience what is set to be the concert of the year.”

That, and chriskisn lives there ;) . In any case, that sounds cool for Perth people.

And prices so far according to various sites:

Sydney: A Reserve $198.00; B Reserve $169.00; C Reserve $128.00 (www.acerarena.com.au)
Brisbane: A Reserve $195.00; B Reserve $165.00; C Reserve $125.00 (www.brisent.com.au)
Hope Estate: $122.80 to $192.80 (www.ticketmaster.com.au)

So pretty standard pricing there. I've seen a lot of people elsewhere on the internet with their knickers in a complete knot over the Preferred Seating et al. prices thinking that they were it. I think these prices though are more than reasonable.

HELP...!!!!!!

A Reserve tickets will be good (they're the best on offer after all ;) ) but there are a couple of things you might want to consider.

The thing that personally bothers me most about the Preferred Seating tickets is that they don't tell you where exactly they are. A Reserve tickets at shows here in Brisbane, for example, often range from the very front row to the very back at the floor. They're generally all fine seats, but it depends on what exactly you're looking for.

Although seating arrangements vary from show to show at the same venue, maybe have a look around on Ticketek/Ticketmaster for some similar shows (ie, all seated, but no weird love seats like Britney Spears) currently on sale for the venue you intend to go to to get an idea about where A Reserve might be. Given that Preferred Seating is also selling Rows 1 to 5 for higher prices, I imagine that tickets purchased through them listed as A Reserve will not be in the first 5 rows. On the other hand, I would imagine (though I'm not certain) that a handful of these seats will be available to the general public at regular prices through Ticketek.

My personal experience with Ticketek pre-sales has also been great in that I've come away with what I was after and sometimes a bit better (4th row for The Who ). I think your chances of getting an A Reserve ticket in the pre-sale (or even the general on-sale) would be quite good. Whether it will be a better A Reserve than one you buy through Preferred Seating though is hard to tell.

So, I suspect that actually wasn't much help to you at all. Sorry! I've never had so many ticket-buying options before, so I can certainly understand your predicament.

Good luck with whatever you decide, and I hope you have a blast. My first concert was Rod Stewart so I think you're off to a far better start than me :D .

Hey everyone!!

I just bought tickets through Preferred Seating for the third or fourth row. WOOOO HOOOO! We booked for the second show in Brisbane, on Wednesday, 16 December. I know the official people say there is now only one show per city, but they’ll be doing second ones. Our Brisbane show is the FINAL show of the whole Australian tour as well, so should be excellent!!!!

For questions about Preferred Seating’s actual seats, well…be careful. For the huge places they’re playing, you could be right up the back on the floor and it’d still be classed as A Reserve. Preferred Seating says that their tickets are sold at a premium because they are EITHER advance access seats (in this case) or they are considered to be so-called “gold class” tickets.

We’ve used them 3 times (and again now), and haven’t been overly impressed. We used them to book Stevie’s solo concert tickets in 2006 in Brisbane, and infuriatingly, upon receiving the tickets (and yes, they don’t tell you what seats you’ve got till right before the concert when they come in the mail), we found they were in Row S. Not exactly amazing for the money we paid for “premium” tickets. We then went online and checked the normal Ticketek sales and found (and this is the infuriating part) that Row G (and who knows what else, this was just the best available) were on sale. ROW G! We couldn’t afford to buy them on top of the lesser tickets we’d already paid for, so put up with Row S.

The last time we used them was for French & Saunders and we got Row ZZ. At first I was appalled at this, but then realised once we arrived that we weren’t right at the back, but rather in the middle. Still not great seats though, but in that case the event was in such high demand, this was considered good.

Anyway, so watch out. This is why we didn’t buy A Reserve. We don’t want to end up in Row S again, you know? We’ve seen Fleetwood Mac before (in 2004) and Stevie when she was here in 2006 (both in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, where we actually live), and all times we were a bit far back. This time we wanted actual GOOD seats, so we’ve paid the premium for them and guaranteed the goodness. Lol.

Hi all,

I rang Preferred Seating the other day to get some more info. I was told that A Reserve can be either floor setas or seats on the first elevation. I certainly dont want to be sat on the first elevation so instead (and based on what iv read here) im gonna wait for the Ticketek pre-sale. Im just hoping il be within the first 10 rows so can make my way to the front!!

And one other thing, does anybody know the maximum number of tickets you can buy from Ticketek? Im taking an entourage of 7 recently converted mac fans with me but am worried we may be sat seperately. Also does the number of tickets you buy affect which row you may get?

Thanks all!

DoubtfulMiracle
08-25-2009, 06:31 AM
^ There usually is some limit to the number of tickets you can buy. For most events you can usually purchase up to 10 tickets, but I think sometimes there are lower limits in pre-sales. That info should be up on Ticketek before the pre-sale though, or perhaps it would be worth giving them a ring. You can also usually split your tickets up within that limit - rather than getting 10 seats altogether, for example, you could get two groups of 5.

I can only comment on your second question based on my observations of how Ticketek works, but it does seem to me that the row you get will often be affected by your group size e.g., if there are two seats left in Row 5, and you're trying to get 8 people together, you will go to whatever the next available row is with 8 spare seats (which may not necessarily be Row 6). I figure it's probably much like queuing up for a taxi for 8 people when there's no maxis around - people with smaller groups will end up in a taxi before you because they can be accommodated.

Good luck!

Re the famed IKNIW T-shirt, thanks for your generous words. Although I'm doubtful of just what role the shirt and Lindsey's brief yet close-up inspection of it had in the causal chain between the song's long dormancy and eventual reemergence as a setlist staple, I can at least tell myself it had something to do with it!

Actually I came across the shirt towards the end of my previous tenure in Japan. It was about to be 'thrown down' to the garbage but at the last minute I decided to send it off to Nancy (curator of the Indiana Museum for Fleetwood Mac Bric-a-Brac and Related Curios of Fanatical Significance).

I’m pleased to see that when I went on Ticketek yesterday to see what kind of tickets were available in their pre-sale, that for the one show advertised, they were all sold out. GOOD.

Also pleased to know this morning when I checked the general sales for Ticketek, which went on sale today, that the best available for the second show we’re actually going to were not bad, but not great. In the “gold” area, but back about a third or more into the arena. So that’s good. The price is good though, only $195 as opposed to my $450. But then, on the night, when I’m sitting there in the third or fourth row, looking back through the sea of people I could be sitting behind, me thinks I won’t care about the price, heheh.

Look, I have no issue with lonely unemployed people dusting off their old professions and giving it another whirl. That's why I'm going to see Fleetwood Mac in December.

But Daryl and the gang have never produced something creatively on par with Rumours and the sooner everyone realises that the better.

Music has new Verses

From: Herald Sun October 14, 2009 12:00AM
KILLING Heidi siblings Ella and Jesse Hooper are set for a comeback to the charts.

The hit-making pair's new band, the Verses, has just signed with Warner Music.

The deal has also helped the band secure the coveted slot supporting Fleetwood Mac on its December tour of Australia.

Unlike Killing Heidi, the Verses have a country-tinged southern rock sound.

Aside from Ella's occasional appearances on Spicks and Specks, the Hoopers have kept a low profile since the end of Killing Heidi, to concentrate on their songwriting.

Now 26, Ella was 17 when Killing Heidi topped the charts in 2000, becoming the hottest band in the land.

The Verses have built a loyal following through residencies at the Toff in Town in Melbourne.

"We're country kids - we like things to go at a nice, slow pace - and we gave ourselves time: time to write, time to get inspired, time to try different things musically," Ella said.

"We were taking a holiday from the three-minute pop song, although funnily enough we've found ourselves coming back to that."

The first taste of the Verses will come with an EP released next month.

Curious listeners can download their new single Forever More free from theverses.com.au as of Monday.

The band will support Fleetwood Mac at Rod Laver Arena on December 1 and 2.

You know what, I remember a time when Daryl and his Saturday variety show were the only things worth watching on TV (we are talking 20 years ago). It might be a bit cheesy and politically incorrect these days, but times change...

Is it unreasonable for me to hope that they will support the shows in Melbourne only?

Honestly, support acts suck. My last experience was Counting Crows. Ugh. And they didn't even do Mr Jones.

On the bright side, I don't see any reason FM would need to shorten their set to account for these relative no-names (sure, we remember Killing Heidi from oh, 10 years ago, but that doesn't mean anyone cares to hear from your new band).

Hmm..not always. I actually though Vanessa Carlton was ok last time Stevie was over Perth way. When I saw Bob Dylan a few years ago he had Patti Smith as a support act.

Though, I have to agree most of the time they are terrible...

I know Chili likes to remind us that Buckingham Nicks was once a support act!

I know, that doesn't make it any easier. All I can say is that I loved Chris Isaak on the bill with Stevie. Other than that, it's a bummer.

I knew someone would come back with BN

I think that most of the time it's not because the support act is actually that awful, but because it's an absolute killer sitting through it whilst waiting with eager anticipation for the main event. So generally it is the concept of a support act that gets my goat, not the artists themselves.

Chris Isaak with Stevie would've been terrific. It reminded me actually that Chris Isaak's support act for his Australian tour earlier this year (a former Australian Idol contestant) went down very well with me. Mostly because I thought he was a bit of a spunk and I loved his cheeky character, but also, muscially speaking, he was excellent.

Anyway, I was hunting around for more info about The Verses, and note that their agent profile says they have drawn inspiration "from such classic singers/bands as Neil Young, The Pretenders and Fleetwood Mac." I suppose I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try to go to the Brissie concert with open ears ;)

I don't know if anyone knows that you can download The Verses new single from a link from that sun herald article that was posted previously...it's called "Forever More" (it's not too bad but i did start to go to a sleep a bit about 2mins in)
Killing Heidi were a band that soared up the Aussie charts in the early 2000's and then died pretty soon after that. the verses is just the brother and sister from that band, my older brother saw them as Killing Heidi at the Big Day Out ages ago and said that they were really crap live. So maybe they'll be another "studio" band just like most other bands these days... If they end up supporting the Mac at Sydney i'll give them a go but that does mean i'll like it...

exactly!
i havent heard of them, have no idea about their music
but i would have the same opinion no matter who the band was
im not interested in an opening act prolonging the anticipation of seeing MY band. im already all freaked out the whole day waiting for the night to roll around. and being IN the venue and having to sit through a warmer up...i would rather hear Mac tunes pumping through the sound system
