UPDATE: June 8, 2009
Hey Everybody,
I've added descriptions for the first three auctions, the first of which begins on Wednesday, June 10. You can view descriptions and images at my wiki (address below).
I had initially said that I would be selling my entire collection in one auction, but after getting feedback from various people, I've decided to hold separate auctions for different parts of my collection.
Daniel
Hi all,
I am planning to sell my entire Stevie Nicks collection on eBay in June. I wanted to give plenty of notice in case eBay should prematurely shut down the auction. The advanced notice will also give you a chance to pool resources should you be interested in purchasing the collection.
I have wanted to scale down my collection for quite some time. While I am parting with most of my collection, I have made copies of the things I value most. I am still very much a huge fan of Stevie and Mac. :D But I feel that another collector would better appreciate the things that I have securely stored away in boxes, out of sight, out of mind. The collection deserves better!
My collection includes, but is not limited to, the following:
CDs (prerecorded and CDRs)
DVDs (prerecorded and DVDRs)
VHS (mostly of concerts)
Near complete master reel clones
cassettes
records
chart books (hardback/softback)
radio shows (mostly '80s-'00s)
magazines
framed Rhiannon print
framed 'In Concert' poster
tour books (no Street Angel)
tour merchandise (mugs, pins, t-shirts)
and much more
I have set up a wiki (http://snlcollection.pbworks.com/)to provide descriptions and updates. If you're interested, please follow this link (http://snlcollection.pbworks.com/) and click on the "Request Access" button on the right side of the page.
Thanks!
Daniel

Thanks for letting us know. :) I might be interested in some stuff when I see exactly what you've got. You might want to put some stuff just up here first, so you don't have to pay those ebay fees?

I'm planning to sell my entire collection in one auction. Setting up individual trades and transactions would be far too cumbersome and take far too long to complete. I know there will be specific things in the collection that people will want, and other things people will already have. But I was envisioning the person bidding would be:
fans bidding as a group, based on a written agreement (e.g. one fan will get the CDs, one fan get the magazines, etc.). In that scenario, I would ship directly to appropriate person based on the written agreement. Anything you don't want you can always resell.
or
a fan looking to start or expand a collection. Purchasing this collection will allow the fan to catch up quickly in just one transaction.
My plan is to start posting a thorough breakdown of my collection on Friday, May 22 and start the actual auction on Friday, June 19. The month prior to the auction will give a chance for people to coordinate plans/resources, review the FAQ, and ask questions. I will regularly provide descriptions and an FAQ on the wiki that I've set up.

Oh, I see now. I thought you were doing each item one by one.
Best of luck with the auction...but I'd be a little nervous with bidding in it. I'm not sure, if more than one fan will get the items, how will payment work out? It might get kind of messy with paypal - and if someone doesn't pay who never won the auction you won't be able to file a claim with paypal on that person. And if we have a written agreement with other ledgies, what about othside sources from other ebay bidders that aren't on the ledge? They wouldn't be part of a written agreement.
If some ledgie fans have an agreement, would we all be bidding? If I make a deal with Ledgie A, B, and C and we divide up what we want, why wouldn't one of us just bid once, and wait for the auction to end? It might end up selling for a low price because of that...if we are all getting what we want in a written agreement there is no point for us to all raise the auction price higher.
Just some thoughts to think about...I'm interested in some of your stuff as I'm sure you have some great goodies, but it sounds complicated and a little risky.

Well, of course it's your collection but I wouldn't sell the entire collection in one auction. I'm sure that it wouldn't sell for a high price. The fans or the people doesn't have $ 500 lying around to buy a whole collection. If you're selling the items piece by piece your chance is bigger to sell it for a good price because 1. the bidders have the money for this single auction and 2. this could be the item they miss in their collection and want it so they're going to bid. Maybe you should think about it.....

Maybe he doesn't want to hassle of listing everything individually. At the end of the day it's his choice what works best for him just like it's your choice to sell your lithograph

I think you have a serious problem with me, right?? You are still picking on that lithograph thing, STOP THAT! And about my message regarding the collection...I wrote that he SHOULD think about it and NOT that he HAVE to think about it. It was just a good tip to him because I'm sure that his entire collection as one auction wouldn't sell so high as selling the items everything individually...

Excuse me? I have no problem with you. I think you need to get off your high horse. Did I reply to you in your thread about the litho after your replied with your lengthy explanation to me? And yet I'm 'still picking on you'? Many times you said it's your choice what you do with it and the same principle goes for Daniel with his collection. That's all I was saying.

I'm not sitting on a high horse and never have been. But did you notice that you are mentioning MY lithograph again and again and what I should do with it?? THIS is MY decision what I do with it and I don't want to talk about it anymore. This thread is already discussed and DONE! And I never said what Daniel has to do with his collection...I just gave him the tip to think about to offer it individually...THAT'S ALL!

Oh give over. Commenting in a thread particularly about the litho is hardly mentioning it over and over again. Exaggerate much? Oh and I don't believe I ever told you what you should do with your litho. Maybe you should go back and re-read the thread in question
May I suggest if you don't like my postings then block me.

Why not offering it to a ledgie for a set price??? Did you say that? Yep!

It was a suggestion for gods sake! Just like you suggested to Daniel he sells his items individually! It's not as if I was demanding you sell it to a ledgie...
Try again...

It would take some coordination to bid as a group. You'd have to entrust one person to do the actual bidding, preferably someone who's skilled at winning auctions on eBay. If you decide to go in as a group, you and your party should prepare a written group agreement--clearly stating who will get what and the maximum bid that each individual would be willing to submit for those items--well in advance of the auction, which is why I'm letting everyone know now. The agreement would be legally binding, so, unless you want to appear in front of Judge Judy, the messy issues should be addressed by the time the auction starts -- not after!
Having a higher set maximum bid would be the greatest advantage of bidding as a group. Other bidders won't be aware that your single bid represents X number of people participating in this particular auction, so they may try to lowball the bidding. And there are all kinds of bidding scenarios that you'd have to address beforehand, for which you'd develop some bidding strategy (e.g. bidding early vs. bidding later).
The greatest disadvantage, which I alluded to above, is the coordination. A legal binding agreement must be well written and approved by all parties. It could take some time to reach consensus. As a seller, I'd only be obligated to describe all items accurately, coordinate payment between me and the auction winner, and ship all items in a secure and timely manner. So you should ideally group only with people who you know to be responsible and trustworthy.

Thanks Daniel. Sorry your thread got taken over. Thanks for thinking about my suggestions. I just don't think I'll be able to go into a group...to much of a chance of getting screwed over somewhere some how. I still think it would be cool, once you tell us in detail what you have, to open it up to us here to give you our best offer for items. I've done ebay for sure and the fees suck. But anyway, best of luck. :)
