Hot concert
I'm looking forward to seeing Fleetwood Mac on Thursday at American Airlines Center. It's a hits tour, so I can't wait to hear Stevie Nicks sing "Dreams," which is such an evocative tune.

I'll be there!!! :woohoo::blob2::blob2:
I intend on going, but I still don't have a ticket, because unlike other concerts, I still haven't seen the good seats come up on TM. I thought they might come whilst on my flight from Australia to LA on Monday, so I had a mate checking for me but still nothing.
Anyway, I'm in town now, so will be there one way or another!

TM still sell the row Z on section 118. very bad seat. Mine is not the best, floor but like 30 or 40 rows behind (section 16). Vip packages are closed at Iloveaccess but no news about good seats available yet. Mi last hope is finding something better at the AAcenter window.

And conclude that Lindsey really improved since 2003. He floored me totally on his solotour in october: the guy is on a roll these days.
Got back to my hotel about an hour ago from the Dallas show. Only got my ticket at 6pm, because the very helpful people at the box office really wanted to help this Australian guy who'd come all this way - so they sold me a row 12 on Stevie's side that came up last minute - wonderful, but I thought that meant sitting down all night - never mind.
Well, I almost couldn't believe it, just after I sat down, a woman in front of me came back to her seat from the stage and said to her man “the first 12 rows can go up – there want a huge crowd up at the stage tonight because they’re filming! (I thought they always filmed). That was enough for me – up there like a shot and there was a vacant spot at the stage, about 3 metres to the left of Stevie’s microphone!
I'm not very good at doing reviews, so won't go into detail, but I would echo all the thought of the posts in the Atlanta thread. They all rocked! Very tightly packed group at the stage, but the whole audience seemed to be rocking along - many standing in the upper levels too. Venue seemed quite full.

I had been wondering about what seat you got and I think it's terrific that you got to be so close.
I'm extremely curious about the fact that they were filming. I would think that if they were doing a dvd, that there'd be retakes of some, if not all, of the songs. So, I don't know if that's what was going on, but I can't wait to find out. I bet we'll hear something soon! Michele

IT WAS GREAT!!!!
I arrived at 6:30pm, hoping to find a better seat than my rear left floor seat. But nothing far better available, just few rows ahead. So I was at the middle of the arena, thinking "THIS IS NOT FAIR, I DESERVE TO BE AT THE FRONT, I’m a die hard fan,,, I’M A SENIOR LEDGIE, RIGHT??” Then at 7:30pm I saw people standing near the stage, and I realized there was no strong control at the corridors, so I stood up and walked to the stage, with my bag full of merchandise and my margarita:lol:. And I was getting closer to the stage,, and closer.. and closer.. and then I was there.. near the stage.. and then lights turned off, and nobody asked people to get back to their seats.. (not like MSG (NYC 1997) where they forced you to even SEAT DOWN )
So I saw Stevie and Mick coming from backstage, then John, and Lindsey, and the magic started.
Lindsey was great, how energic he performed!! all songs he did were great!! I was just at the right under him, watching him, taking pictures (yes I was at the right side close to Lindsey, and Stevie was at the left side). Stevie was so sweet... Yes she was not as dynamic as in the past, but she sang all songs very very good. I was petrified. I could touch Lindsey feet, yes I was that close. Far better than in 1997 at NYC. Well Stevie didn't dance that energic or fast, but she did her spinning dance at Stand Back! She danced Gold Dust Woman slower than in the 2003 dvd, but she did it great. Yes she looked a bit tired, but come on, she is 60!! I got in love with her performance anyway. I missed Mick solo, I mean he did it but just at the drums, he didn't stand up with his percussion body device.
Stevie and Lindsey switched positions so I could appreciate Stevie's beauty. She still is a gorgeus lady. I could see she was kind of tired, but giving all she can to her public. I could see joy in her eyes. And Lindsey reeeally enjoyed the night. He is a showman, an artist, a musician. I love Fleetwood Mac!
I loved all songs, specially Don't Stop, Silver Springs, I know I'm not worng, So Afraid, Monday Morning, OH WELL. STORMS was beautiful, I waited for that song (live) my whole life . Yes I will always miss Christine, but this was THE night. It really was. Finally I could see Fleetwood Mac so close, and enjoyed a great show. They say they are not promoting a new album... yet! So, we may still hope!! And Lindsey say goodbye telling us SEE YOU NEXT TIME !!!

Being in the first few rows/ at the stage is great, isn't it? At my venue, it was like being VIP. Nobody could get up there I don't think and anyone from the first three rows could go to the stage. I didn't simply because Stevie and Lindsey could really see me from where I was!!!:]

Large Venues: Enter At Own Risk
Dallas Health Department Requests Large Venues To Be Vigilant
DALLAS, TEXAS - A steady stream of Fleetwood Mac fans filed into the American Airlines Center.
Rhiannon Holmes, yes, Rhiannon, bought a ticket for her mother Sharron. The swine flu virus has both of them bugged.
"I'm very concerned." Says Sharron. "But it's my birthday present and I can't pass up the chance."
"Attend at your own risk." Says Dallas County Health Department Medical Director Dr. Jon Carlo. Carlo is asking the owners of large venues, such as the AAC, to be vigilant. The American Airlines Center has several new hand sanitizing stations. Workers there are also cleaning high touch areas like water fountains, handrails and doorknobs. Dr. Carlo says people need to cover their cough and sneeze and wash their hands.
"I think anytime you are putting a large number of people in a common room, there is always a risk. Participants should know that they should attend these events at their own risk and there is a risk for disease transmission."
Dr. Carlo would also like to see signs warning people not to enter if they feel like they have the flu. Swine flu or no swine flu, Rhiannon Rubeor, yes, another Rhiannon, wouldn't miss Fleetwood Mac for the world.
"You know." Says Rhiannon. "As long as you wash your hands, don't touch your eyes, your nose, your mouth. Just steer clear of anyone who looks sick, I think then I think it's fine."
AAC officials say the concert was not sold out.

Concert Review: Fleetwood Mac unleashes the hits at American Airlines Center
02:40 PM CDT on Friday, May 1, 2009
By MARIO TARRADELL Music Critic
[email protected]
You could call Fleetwood Mac's current tour an oldies show. It is, after all, titled "Unleashed: Hits Tour 2009," which means the 23-song set consists solely of classic radio staples and album tracks.
There is no new CD to promote. In fact, the band hasn't recorded one since 2003's Say You Will.
But that tag completely sells this concert short. Fleetwood Mac, which packed the American Airlines Center on Thursday night, remains influential. Talk to any of today's popular country acts (especially the ones with a pop-rock musical bent) and the Mac is mentioned. Talk to many female vocalists of the last 20 years – pop, rock, country and otherwise – and they'll mention the group's longtime temptress, Stevie Nicks.
It was evident with Thursday's fiery show, which was more passionate than any has-been oldies act. Even during songs that didn't gel, such as Lindsey Buckingham's manic, robotic "Tusk," there was something to admire. In that case it was Mick Fleetwood's ferocious drumming, as if he were in a marching band.
But the highlights were many, particularly Buckingham's amazing rendition of "Big Love," which was just him at the microphone while he finger-picked an acoustic guitar at breakneck speed. The wall of sound was astonishing. Nicks' "Sara," "Gypsy" and "Dreams" brought back memories. Great songs never get old.
The lovely number "Sara" featured harmonizing between Nicks and Buckingham. At one point, Nicks walked over to Buckingham's microphone to sing. That led to a tender moment when each put their head on the other's shoulder. It was sweet, especially when you consider the rocky relationship those two have had.
If there's one message to take home from witnessing the over-two-hour gig, it's that maturity, experience and confidence can yield refreshing results. Buckingham alluded to this more than once. Nicks, in her beautiful and soulful take on "Landslide," did, too.
The 2009 members of Fleetwood Mac are naturally a bit more weathered vocally and maybe even musically. It's been a tumultuous 32 years since their artistic peak, the benchmark Rumours.
But time does heal, and in this case it also preserves.

In regards to that article: I think it's good to be cautious about this flu, but that doesn't mean that you should coop up in your house wearing a mask just living in fear.
Why didn't they mention the fact that you could have gotten in a car accident and killed on the way to AA Center? Or a bolt of lightning could have struck you down dead? (Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice.)
I just think it's ridiculous that the media is hyping this thing up. It's just like any other disease -- like your mama told you when you were younger: keep your hands washed and don't eat/drink after anyone.
GAH! Rant over.
Glad all yall had fun in Dallas - wish I could've been there, but I've got finals and it just didn't work out. :(

I don't have time to post a full review right now, but since somebody brought up the surprising ease of getting to the stage, let me comment. (Forgive any poor grammar, spelling, etc. - I'm tired & hurrying.)
I have never been to a show with security like this.
The aisles had no guards whatsoever. The guards stood chatting with one another on the sides the entire time.
Anybody on the floor could come go up to the stage & take pics - in fact, when asked, guards took pics of anybody and everybody who wanted. Cameras were out in the open, & the guards looked delighted to help.
We got there early & took our seats right by Stevie's microphone. When a very large group of VIPs arrived at around 7:30, they stood in front of us & told us to come stand behind them. They were nice, but obviously those of us in the front row found this set-up strange & infuriating. Especially us, because we'd been sitting the whole time so that anybody could take pics at the stage without our blocking the view. In a blink, people from the rows behind us jumped in front as well. I was stunned - every time I've been in the front row, we had to wait for the guards to cue us when the lights went down before we could stand at the stage.
When the guy next to us had a fit that people were in front of the first row, I went over to security & asked why people were already allowed in front of the people in the front row. Guards told me - I am not making this up - that anybody in the first 26 rows (!!!) could go to the stage at any time - even 40 minutes before the band came out. They said it was first-come, first-serve, and policy is policy. (That's what I heard from security - concert-goers around me told me they heard it would be the first 12 rows or the first 20 rows.)
I returned, & my friend & I actually squeezed into a great spot at the stage (the VIP people were sympathetic), but otherwise I would have been pretty mad.
The absence of security enforcement was problematic. I know it is a Ledge tradition to complain about guards being too strict, but this was the other extreme.
A few songs in, one large, drunk woman shoved everybody out of the way - I mean SHOVED! - and screamed that she paid 300 bucks & wanted to be at the stage, & nobody was going to stop her. She made it all the way up (through many, many people) until she tried to shove me, and I wouldn't move - so she made it up to one person from the stage (me), just by hitting & shoving everybody else in front of her. (I guess she felt more comfortable fighting with women, because she backed down off of me pretty quickly.) She was screaming & dancing around when there was no room for that. Meanwhile, for the duration of two songs, she continued to fight with some of the VIP women around me (& constantly groped me pretty aggressively, rubbing my hair, back, thigh, rear end - not funny), screaming and arguing with the women behind me that she would kick their asses outside, and that she bet they couldn't name the song ("Tusk" that was playing). Then she suddenly left for the bathroom & never came back.
Later, a woman shoved through everybody & told me to squat down so she could jump on my back & get up on stage. I was so deaf from the music & screaming fans, I had to get the people behind me to translate. Later, the woman again shoved through & tried to force me down.
One strange woman from the VIP group literally jumped up on my shoulders a few minutes before the show started - I don't mean she sat there, but while I was talking with someone else, she sprang up from behind like I was a pommel horse - and I have a bad back. What the hell.
Most of the people around me were very nice, but there are always nutjobs at shows. In this set-up they were completely unfettered.
If anybody thinks I'm being overly sensitive about a few enthusiastic concert-goers, let me say that I've been at shows before where the constant shoving & jockeying for positions made things unpleasant. This was different - this was people throwing other people out of their way because they could, jumping on strangers, etc., & it was not cool.
Oh, the show was great; more on that later.:)

I admit I was surprised, too. Though I was lucky about it, and admit I thought about people paying around $700 for the vip packages.. well anyway I had no regrets :o of being where theorically I didn't belong to (but I did, cause am I huge fan!! :)
In Peru vip or super vip sections are limited by fences, with hard securitys. But pictures are "allowed". For Gloria Estefan we all jumped and danced, but we who danced near the stage were only of the first 2 rows. behind the 2nd row there was a small fence. I thought I would find something similar at the AA center, but miracously not.
The only security I found was the x ray and detectors and entrances.

- Jake
So sorry to hear about those nutjobs, Jake. Nothing is more upsetting than seeing these people be allowed to take over and get their way, simply because they are acting up and acting violent. I've had to encounter that every so often at shows and it really does take away from the experience. I hope that the shows I go to have security around! You obviously don't security to be really strict but nothing's more rewarding than seeing those drunks thrown out on their butts! Looking forward to your review!

What you experienced was unbearable. It was just assault, plain and simple. I have never complained about security being too strict. If I had my way, most people would be strapped to their seats for the entire show.
While I sympathize with you completely, I have to say I laughed more than once at what you described, even though you said it was "not funny." When you talked about being groped and then one person actually standing on you . . . it's awful to have happen to you, but amusing to hear about. Like a bad sitcom. I'm sorry you had such an awful experience and hope the show made up for it.

I was a beside my self in anticipation of seeing them in Dallas on Thursday night. My wife thought we were going nowhere. and then surprise. There we were in the fifth row on the floor.
Thank you Allan.
This was the greatest night of my life, seeing lifelong friends again who have been with me through all that life has had to offer. Sharon and I celebrated. Our love affair and theirs.
Stevie was magnificent, magical. Lindsey was driving, emotional. Taking it to the edge and beyond - a true magician giving it his everything. John was keeping it true and getting carried away with it at times, and what can you say about Mick- 'are you with me now'?
I felt a strange urge to turn around...and then I saw this whole of humanity celebrating as one, on its feet in unbridled energetic happiness, all of us carried away to heaven and bliss. Even now as I listen to them here with me, I can see them in my heart, on my eyes......
Don't ever leave me.....

Last Night: Fleetwood Mac at the AAC
By Darryl Smyers in Show Reviews, Dallas Observer Friday, May. 1 2009

American Airlines Center, April 30, 2009
Better Than: Seeing a Fleetwood Mac cover band at an AARP Convention.
Seemingly every MILF in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area made their way to the American Airlines Center last night to catch a truncated (but still powerful) version of Fleetwood Mac. The legendary rock act brought out 23 chestnuts spanning the band's four decade career, even throwing in a couple of numbers from solo efforts from Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
The nearly three hour show thrilled the homogeneous collection of forty and fifty-somethings, about 75% of whom were women sporting outfits that hadn't seen the light of day since Bill Clinton was getting his first Lewinsky. I'm happy that these folks were getting in some good cardio work by dancing throughout the show, but after seeing an octogenarian tumble to the floor (sadly spilling her red wine) it was obvious that some folks should have called it a night way before the encore.
Regardless of any audience shenanigans, the performance was top-notch. Lindsey Buckingham is still one of the most talented guitarists working in the rock/pop field. His finger picking style, best exemplified on songs such as "Never Going Back Again" and "Big Love". The set list featured several interesting choices, including three from my personal favorite Mac album "Tusk." Stevie Nicks explained that the band wanted to unearth some songs that it hadn't performed on previous tours.
Even though keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie decided not to join the band for this tour, Nicks and Buckingham did a nice job substituting on McVie's "Say You Love Me." Even more intriguing was the choice of "Oh Well," a song that predates Nicks and Buckingham even joining Fleetwood Mac. Of course, the hits keep the crowd happy and band didn't fail to deliver such 70's standards as "Dreams," "Rhiannon," "Landslide" and "Gold Dust Woman." And despite Nicks' wardrobe changes, the band looked great and played marvelously.
Critic's Notebook: Random Note: Why do folks begrudge a guy who simply needs to go to the bathroom? The grandpa and grandma at the end of row N just about had a cow when I asked to get by. I think the old coot purposely kneed me in the shin when I came back.

How nice of him to round 2 hours and fifteen minutes to a nearly 3 hour show. Its like me running 3.25 miles and then saying, wow I just ran nearly 4 miles (which I of course do)
And it should be standard freaking concert ettocitte to plan it so you don't have to use the bathroom during a show. The old couple absloutly should've kneed him in the shin, he deserves it.

I'm sure it's wrong, but I would have kneed him too. That annoys me. Plus, he sounds like the kind of irksome guy who probably did it several times during the show and probably during a moment in the show where you especially did not want to be interrupted.
He's lucky they only got his shin.

Jake, I am so sorry you were assaulted at the show. I would have shoved my elbow in her chest. Of course, *I* would have gotten throw out for assault, with my luck. Pfftt. Stupid, drunk jerkheads.
I didn't get to go to the Dallas show (I am stuck here in Wichita, Kansas....long story, but short story is our car broke down.), but that's cool they filmed it and they let tons of people up front! Can't believe how lax security was! Figures...the one show I can't go to...they let you do whatever you want.
Villavic, I am so glad you got up front!!!! I thought about the show Thursday and you coming from so far away. Your pics are AWESOME!!
Maybe I will get to see them if they come back through the USA.

Those are great pics! Dallas was my first FM concert (though not my first Stevie show) and it was incredible. This concert was a LONG time coming and it did not disappoint.
What surprised me the most: How much I enjoyed watching Mick on drums! I am largely a SnL person, but I found myself staring at him quite a lot. The man is a beast!!

The show was amazing. Both of their voices were in great form and quite frankly, they just rocked the frickin' place. I was on my feet the entire time...Lindsey is beast. :D
I used to live in Fort Worth in the 90's, and I still have family and friends there... my mom lives in Benbrook... and since I moved back to Louisville Kentucky (in 97') I have always (seen or) went back to Dallas for Stevie and or Fleetwood Mac concerts... from 92' till the 'Gold Dust' tour in 2005...
I saw Fleetwood Mac ~ at the 'American Airlines Center' in 03' on the 'SYW' tour and I do NOT like that venue at all... It's way too big, I thought for a minute I was in this huge concrete basement, that was 6 or 7 levels high or deep (what have you)... and it must have had it's own zip code, it is so huge... I remember at the 'SYW' tour show that security was so tight with seating and camera's that you could not move... that's why I am real surprised to hear how relaxed that security was on this tour at AAC...
But for everyone here that went last Thursday night, I am glad that you got to get that close to the stage and security was relaxed with cameras and such...
I know it's not the season yet for outside venues and shacks... But give me the old 'Coca-Cola Starplex' in Dallas (which is now named the Smirnoff Center or something like that) outdoor ampli-theater anytime... I love that venue, and it's right next to the Dallas fairgrounds... I have been to many concerts at the old Star-plex... to me, it's the best in Dallas...
Glad to hear you all had a good time though last week, and thanks for posting the nice pics and reviews... I'm working on trying to go to the Nashville show in June... ;-)

Ok, Stevie fans, get ready to flame me! I just have to add my 2 cents here. Disclaimer: I am an unabashed Lindsey fan. I saw several solo LB shows...some of the best shows EVER. I even saw Stevie solo years ago (though I was there for Boz Scaggs, the opener). I like alot of Stevie songs, and have always wanted to see FM live.
So finally I have a chance to see what all the hubbub is about. And you know what? I felt like I was at an LB solo show. Why? Because Stevie was what I would call 'catatonic', she looked very medicated, no personality, no enthusiasm. I would have been VERY upset if I had paid like $200 or more like some people did. It was, in a word, ridiculous.
Now I will say the show overall was fantastic, but no thanks to Stevie. If I was cutting the paychecks from this tour, I'd give Lindsey & Mick 80% and let the rest of them fight over the other 20%. Those two worked their *sses off, while Stevie twirled around and rattled her tambourine. Heck, I'd say John was more animated than her!
If there was any doubt before that Lindsey is the creative and driving force behind FM, it evaporated very quickly during this tour. Lindsey was out there, giving it his all, very energetic, engaging and motivated. You could tell how happy he was to be performing. Stevie....ummm, 'a bump on a log' would be a fitting description. It would be one thing if FM were touring every year in a 100 venues, and things were just really wearing her down. But c'mon! You extort huge amounts of money from your loyal fans, and then act like you can't wait to get home to do something more exciting, like laundry?
Well, I'm glad I got to see a FM show nonetheless. Lindsey saved the night with his amazing guitar work, impassioned singing and enthusiastic performance. But I won't make be seeing any more FM shows, unless the tickets are really reasonable. No Stevie solo shows, for sure. I will wait for Lindsey to hit the road alone, and I will see as many shows as I possibly can. Lindsey deserves all the kudos and praise he gets, and Stevie deserves all the harsh, biting and negative comments proffered. And that is putting it nicely. I would apologize to all the Stevie fans out there, but I'm not sorry.
IMHO Lindsey is the Engine, The Engineer and the guy laying the track in front of the train. Stevie is the good-looking and talented boxcar following his train. Flame away...

^^^Ok Mr 3rd World Man....fair enough on your opinion. I saw the Mac in March and have paid nearly $200 to see them again in June. And the entire reason IS to see Lindsey! He is amazing and this time I got a seat up front to confirm it! ha ha ha
Really though, the amount of energy he puts out is so refreshing and exciting. Lindsey usually does his solo's in NY when he comes to the East Coast so I don't mind a bit paying the extra $$$$$ to see him at Mohegan Sun. I just hope so much to touch his hand!!! He really seems so sincere to the fans. Very heart warming.

ok, i'll bite. THe good-looking and talented boxcar that brings the most songs that the crowd as a whole recognizes and comes to hear. Its a good thing too. Cause Stevie with THIS version of "Fleetwood Mac" and this tour and the OODLES of money that they will make will allow that engine to keep on burning. He needs the money for fuel.:p
(ALSO, on a totally unrelated note, the spell checker on my computer brought NO attention to the word "OODLES". Now seriously, should that even really be a word. no.)

I'm really glad that you took the review for the positive aspects, of which there are many (for Lindsey). I'm pretty sure that was the focus of the post. LB...he is just SO amazing. It isn't too easy sometimes being a fan of either. Like, what Phoenix said about Stevie is most likely true...I guess. Most people come to the shows to hear her stuff and see her. But then, imo, I agree with what you and the extent of what 3rd World Man say about LB. I go for him. I don't need to see an artist or group more than once on one tour. The first time I'm usually satisfied. But Lindsey is a whole different experience altogether. And I will blatantly admit I have seen his solo shows and FM shows more than probably necessary just because he blows me away. And yes, I have paid a bit too much on several occasions.
But Lindsey? Totally, totally worth every penny.:xoxo:

Well, I certainley wouldn't fault anyone for spending $200 just to see Lindsey. His performance is WORTH every penny. It's just not fair that him & Mick do almost all the work, and yet Stevie will get an equal share of $$ I'm sure, plus tons of adulation that she was the REAL shining star of this tour.
Yes, Nico, I did enjoy some of Stevie's performances...I mean, I truly made an effort before the show to clear out any pre-conceived notions/biases/negativity towards Stevie. I cleared the slate and gave her a fair chance. But her lackluster attitude was even more startling when combined with LB's blistering performance...it for me validated why I love Lindsey so much. Yes they are raking in OODLES of money, much thanks to Stevie for sure...so I expected her to be alot more excited on stage. Next time though I will be throwing my money at just Lindsey--but if you haven't seen him play live, by all means, spend the money! He's worth it

I'm sorry, but that isn't fair. 3rd World Man was simply sharing his feelings about his show experience. That doesn't mean he isn't a fan or didn't enjoy the great aspects of the show. I appreciate that he shared and understand if not everything was up to his standards. I personally feel that anyone here who has gone to a show is allowed to criticize anything- including Lindsey- if they spent their money. And yes, you area allowed to respond...but I think it's hitting a little low with that kind of a comment.
