At this very moment the opening cords of Monday Morning are being played. Our dear band is in Orlando-less than a mile from my house and I’m not with them. I’m sitting at home sipping a glass of wine with the candles flickering and listening to Tusk (back to front) typing this. Part of me wants to be in the middle of Amway Arena escaping from life, but I just couldn’t come to buy the ticket. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total Chiffon Head--- Really I have a shawl that I made myself- out of chiffon. But I was totally disappointed with the build-up and let down of this tour. From the lack of new material, the lack of new promotional pictures, the high (er) prices for a decent ticket, the “fans” that scream at me for wanting to stand up for the entire show, the Unleashed title, the comments made from various members of the band… touring is like going to Iraq..is what really did it for me I think? My mind was made up even before opening night.

And then I logged onto the Ledge opening night and read the reviews and saw the set list as it was being played (what a great night that was on the ledge) and they gave us Storms! I was so happy they pulled it out, but it still wasn’t enough; and then came the photos of that red dress. That breathtakingly beautiful red dress… I thought I must GO… But I knew I wouldn’t, I couldn’t. I was proving a point to myself and to the band. I was not going to support the unleashed era; I just couldn’t force myself to do it. They have disappointed me. Yet I find myself in a blue mood… I’m already regretting it and they haven’t even gotten to dreams yet…

Anyway I guess I’m sad that I’m sitting here when I could have been sitting listening to one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever.

Did anyone else boycott and then regret it later?

I kind of get your rationale, but would find it hard to boycott the band if it was that close to me. I too am disappointed in no new promotional photos, but am just happy they are touring... well to be honest, I wish they were in the studio right now because if this tour is as long as Stevie is saying, it could turn into SYW part 2, as in a tour that goes on and on and on and a year or more goes by and who knows if they will get in the studio or not.

However, I am enjoying the reviews, photos, and videos as the tour progresses and it appears the band is having fun (I hope).

I understand you are feeling a bit blue, but I would do the same thing if could not go... I mean enjoying the evening with FM, just in another way.

Well, I sort of felt like you; I had no intentions of going to the Philly show. They had no new material, so what was the point? I thought the tickets were overpriced, heck I still do. But yet I kept looking for good seats to pop up & sure enough they did, because after the Say You Will Tour & my crappy seats that I got through the fan club, I voweled not to go to another Mac concert unless I got good seats. So I got those good seats; I just had to go. And I have no regrets at all. I had a great time, got some good pictures, got to see some awesome performances, got to see some songs that they've never performed live before, got to stand the whole time without anyone wanting me to sit down (because everyone around me was standing) & the red dress. It was worth every penny to me. And besides, Lindsey promised some new music. He would never break his word, would he?

They have to do something real bad to make me boycott.probably playing rap tunes or hiphop.I have not go to some country acts in the last ten years except Wynnona and a few others.in a couple of weeks I will be seeing Keith Urban at Mohegan Sun with some friends.

I understand where you are coming from. For the longest time I wasn't anticipating going at all but as time went by and great seats started popping up, I had a talk with my family and my mom and I decided to go and there are no regrets!!!

I thought the concert in Columbus was stellar, and it was the night of my life- it really was!

I'm boycotting for similar reasons myself. Plus, I'm being laid off in 2 months, and just can't justify the $170 ticket. If I made better money, I would likely swallow the whole experience with some bitching lol. But for the band to charge what they're charging now, they'd just have to work harder for my money. Why would I pay MORE to see essentially the same show I saw 3 times 5 years ago? Well, not the same, Stevie has ratcheted down her performance and energy level that much more, the band has no new material, and the tickets are pricier. It really breaks my heart I can't see them. I wonder every time they come through if it'll be their last. But I just can't do it this time... I really can't :distress:

Too bad you did not go,

overpriced, actually they are on par with others, ie, the Eagles...etc...

I felt the same way initially when I read about the ILAA M&G @ $800.oo ea,

but sanity prevailed, &, I coughed up the $$$$ for Detroit, (awsome), 5th row in front of Lindsey

......Toronto #1, (formally Albany), (fantastic), 4th row in front of Lindsey,

......Ottawa, (4 hr drive each way, well worth the drive), 1st row in front of Stevie,

......Toronto #2, (got two great tickets from Zombie that my Sister & Niece used), scored front row in front of Lindsey,

each show was better than the previous one,

I actually considered leaving work this morning at 7, (after 4 x 12 hr nightshifts), driving to Buffalo, catching a flight to Orlando, staying at the Marriot to attend your show in Orlando, but, due to a domestic situation, I did not, and this I do regret,

You should have gone to the show................

I see their ability to continue as very finite, and as such when able I have flown all over the country to see the same ole' material over and over again, and had a blast! Now my two very small kids keep me from doing it much, but I could never have enough will power to boycott a show so close to home.

Exactly right, that's why I spent $150 on 2 tickets, the show on May 3rd is 10-15 minutes away from where I live.

I'm so excited.. but I'm sure I'll be even more giggly the closer I get to it..

Come on, just to hear Lindsey play "Big Love" live is worth it, for me, let alone Stevie closing the night with "Silver Springs".

And who doesn't want to hear "Storms", "Sara", "I Know I'm Not Wrong" , and the title track from Tusk- that was my major selling point, Tusk is my favourite FM album and I doubt we'll ever get a concert with this many Tusk songs played again- (at least) 4 is pretty darn good.

Well, LACESUNDONE

I partially agree with you. I am not thrilled by the lack of new material/new album/new DVD/new WHATEVER...

But, if I was still in orlando (just moved a month ago) I'd probably go see them anyway.

Also, that being said, I've seen absolute zilch on YouTube that has impressed me from this tour.

i feel you... and i think that you should get in your car, alone if necessary, and drive to Tampa tomorrow or Ft. Lauderdale before it's too late. to me, it's not about the photos or the new album, or the people in the venue (altho it's always nice when there's a party atmosphere). to me it's about the music in the moment. live. in the same space where i am. in the same air. in front of my eyes. not on the internet or the TV or the iPod. live. real. and in person. that's why i go. when i can and where i can. some tours it's 15 shows. this one it will only be 2. and i sit as close as i can. and i stand and i dance and i smile. and i feel the energy from the stage for a couple of hours and i take it with me and remember it always. because Stevie (sorry Linds lovers) is my hero :D

I didn't know this either.... give us a brief review....

Did Stevie open the show with a recital of Chopin's Raindrop Prelude? Or was it the same tired set list?

most of this whole frickin thread makes me wonder why many of you call yourself Fleetwood Mac fans. They are all 60 for God's sake. They cannot do cartwheels on stage anymore. If you dont like it, dont go see them and quit trying to bring the rest of us down with your constant negativity. Geez...it is OLD!!

I was there too David...Tiff gave me her floor seat the day of the show when she was able to get front row. Good show, but they were much better in Irvine the following summer.

Well, actually I don't know. Lindsey can hold his own against some younger guitar players, I dare say. I mean, he can really move across that stage, well, no cartwheels, but he can really move. All his sweat can attest to this.

Now Stevie, I don't really expect her to; I think she's seen her better days. With the hip problems & those boots, I'm surprised that she can make it from one side of the stage to the other. And she still twirls; maybe not as many rotations though as she used to.

:shocked: How does one manage to fall asleep at such a concert? Were you ill? I could understand maybe getting bored at some moments, but actually nodding off at such a loud, booming show with all those people screaming? I couldn't imagine it. But anything can happen...my best friend fell asleep at Bob Dylan's concert about 15 minutes in. She understood nothing he was saying/singing so she figured there was no other choice.

You know, I want to be excited about music, but I can't take the manufactured drama anymore. I really hated it in 1997, but it was cool seeing the gang back together, and Christine was still there.

My fandom basically retired with Christine, at least as far as this incarnation of Fleetwood Mac is concerned. I saw the last tour a few times, and enjoyed the shows well enough. A lot has changed for me personally since those shows, and I now find myself in a situation where I just can't get excited over a stale set. BTW, this rule also applies to Dave Mason. I saw him last year (first time as a solo artist), and he did about what I thought he'd do, but at least it was a free show.

Now, I'd totally go see Bob Welch, Jeremy Spencer, Peter Green, Billy Burnette, Bekka Bramlett, or Rick Vito/Mick Fleetwood's Blues Band. In a heartbeat. But the Lindsey-Stevie show just isn't for me anymore.

How about Steve Winwood...
I'd totally see Steve Winwood. He may do the same songs, but because of the improvisational nature of his shows, there's a dynamic there that just does not exist with Fleetwood Mac anymore. In fact, I suspect such a dynamic scares the hell out of them. You don't have to wonder if it was live, or was it Memorex at a Steve Winwood show. With some songs (i.e. "Go Insane" on the current tour or "Trouble" and "Holiday Road" from Lindsey's live DVD), that's obviously not true. I don't enjoy that.

I'd go see the "current" Fleetwood Mac if they added Steve Winwood. If they put him in the band, and he made them cut out Brett, Neal, and the backing vocalists, and made it a working band that didn't sound perfectly like the records, and made them work their asses off nightly to put on a killer show, I'd totally go see that. That's what made the Mac great in the first place. My favorite bootlegs are from the '75-'76 era, when they were still hungry. They made a concious effort to own the crowds, and it paid off. Anyway, it worked out really well the last time they had a keyboard player from Birmingham.

I saw him 3 years in a row and everytime the set list was different...

First year he opened w/ Send A Fax
Next year Different Light (About Time)
Next year Empty Pages followed by Rainmaker...

Every song has improv...

he did a version of Talking Back to the Night w/ a mandolin
he plays his own bass pedals while singing and hammering the keys of the B3

he gets up and plays electric guitar on some Blind Faith tunes...

he covers Spencer Davis...

he covers Traffic....

it's worth the errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 50 bucks for my 5th row seat (now that's something to pay money for in my opinion) not some old worn out soap opera...

Personally, I don't regret not going to see them at The Palace here in Mi. I don't harbor any ill wills either. But after paying alot to see Stevie the last 2 yrs for shows....that well I wish could've been done a little bit different. Too much was staged for me. I'd also rather hear her own songs not covers but to each his or her own. I paid alot & well she came back to the Motor City Casino too & I passed on that show too. I'll always love there music & when I did see Mac the 3 times live (90/97/03) I'll always cherish it. I do think with Christine it was a more cohesive band.
Anyway, I was happy to read everyone's reviews of the shows and the pictures and see video put up. Plus I know I can get cds/dvds of shows (the Mi one too) so I won't miss much & I still have my $$ too. That makes me happy. I'm happy that everyone that went has had a great time. I don't think if you go or don't go it doesn't make you any less of a fan. This isn't a great time right now & I still think they (& many other artists) are charging too much for there tickets right now. (Eagles too thats why I didn't see them here either). So I guess if I boycott anything its the high prices not so much the 'band' per say. That could be a whole another story...set list etc. Which I don't really want to rehash right now. Anyway, so I don't regret not going. Its all good its only a concert & well if its there last here than thats the way it is. Life goes on even if they stop performing. I don't think its negative to say that it is what it is and life doesn't stop when your favorite artist or artists don't sing or perform or record anymore. You just find other things to be interested in or other artists. You always have there music to go back to so to speak. Anyway, thats my 2 cents....no offence anyone....:wavey:

That's why I was able to go see Boston Spaceships (basically, Guided by Voices) five times in the fall. Their prices were $15, which makes going to a lot of shows possible. Obviously, they're not playing to packed arenas, but the band was great, the sets weren't all the same, and the crowd was a lot of fun. For me, those shows were events.

I don't blame you one bit. The show in my area hasn't even come yet (San Jose, CA, May 21 or 22) and I'm firm in the fact that I'm not going. No new material, no new CD on the way, I'm very disappointed. Of all the bands I love, FM is number 1. First saw them in '87 on the "Tango" tour and it blew my mind!! Saw them again on "The Dance" tour and again I was blown away. Just could not afford seats to "Say You Will" so I didn't go, not from a boycott standpoint, it was totally financial! If I'd had the money I would have gone. So, I bought the live CD and DVD and have watched it multiple times. I was dissappointed with the CD also since it had so many tracks that had been done on live CD's before. Not much new or interesting beyond "Eyes of the World", that tour's version of "Stand Back" and the live version of "Come". The rest was old hat. Been there, seen that. This tour promises more of the same, with a few little gems dusted off. Hardly "Unleashed", as I've said on other threads here. I'm honestly more excited about the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band! Bought the UK version of "Blue Again" and haven't stopped playing it since it showed up!!! I absolutely love it!! If FM stops touring, if this really is it, I'm hoping and praying that Mick keeps going with his blues band with Rick and drums until he drops!!!

This tour is too expensive for this economy, no matter how much I love the Mac. I just can't do it. I'm sorry. I'm waiting for Rick, Mick, Lenny and Mark to come to the Bay Area and I will gladly shell out for that show. Hate me if you will, but at least I'm being honest!!!! Give me new material and something new to see and I'm all over it. Charge me an arm and a leg and give me the same old set, not gonna happen.
