Just got off ticketmaster site and it says the Grennsboro show on 4/26 has been cancelled. :distress:

I'm not surprised (shocking, I know ;) ) Based on all of the $25 ticket sales (more than half of the upcoming shows, last I checked), I don't think it will be the last show to get axed, either (I'm looking at you, Omaha)

The venue in Greensboro is HUGE- second only to Tacoma in seating capacity out of the venues they're playing on this tour. I'm too lazy to check to see if it was a venue availability issue, but if they wanted another NC date, it really should have been Raleigh. Greensboro (the venue) is too big and (the city) too close to Charlotte (which ain't doing that great either).

Fleetwood Mac won't be giving a planned performance at the Greensboro Coliseum this month, coliseum officials announced today.

The Sunday, April 26, concert in Greensboro has been canceled because of scheduling conflicts, according to the news release.

Tickets purchased online and via phone will be refunded automatically starting Monday, April 20. Tickets purchased at outlets or the box office can be refunded at point of purchase, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21.

Fleetwood Mac’s concert on Saturday, April 25, at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte will continue as scheduled.

Tickets are still available for the Charlotte concert at livenation.com, the Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone 800-745-3000.

Hmmm! Curious. I noticed yeserday there were 6 front row seats and 8 second row seats popping up. Must not have sold enough tickets. Times are tough right now. Sorry:distress: to hear it though for all you North Carolina fans.

I don't know, I'm not promoting the show- but I do know anywhere between 3000-5000 tickets to major concerts at MGM Grand are pulled as comps, with the act/promoter compensated a certain amount.

I'm so upset.. :distress: I tried so hard for those tickets. Felt like I'd gotten one over on the scalpers by being so persistent with my searching. I had a sitter for my kids, had gotten a good hotel rate. OK.... rant over.

Just called my Mom and my Husband and they are both telling me it must have happened for a reason and maybe we can go to another city. I'm in the travel business and can get free airline tickets. I'll keep trying for Charlotte but I doubt I'll get anything good.

What a bummer! This show was on my birthday, and I was trying to figure out a way to go somehow. I'm so sorry to all the folks planning to go to this show--Greensboro is not too far from Charlotte, so hopefully everyone can make that show.

I hope so... Course there's lots of people doing the same as me so I may not be able to get front row again. I'd be happy with anything in the first 10 rows now. Maybe I should just try going to Vegas again, My husband and I had a blast there when we saw Stevie there a few years ago. Thanks again for your words of encouragement Angel :xoxo:

It doesn't surprise me one bit this show was canceled. The Mac played in Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, and Greensboro NC during the Say You Will tour, but they were all during completely different legs of the tour (like 6 months apart each). Playing Charlotte and Greensboro back to back just doesn't make sense. I agree, they could have done Raleigh and Charlotte instead, that would have made much more sense. The people in Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point could have split themselves between Charlotte and Raleigh. I think this tour is going to end up sobering the band very much... they aren't having anywhere near the selling power of even Say You Will, which was just 6 years ago.

I am sorry to hear you lost your great ticket, Wendy. I've decided to go for cheap seats in Charlotte, so at least I won't be your competition for front row :p .

I agree Louie.. I hope this will sober them like you say but I doubt it. I'm almost kind of mad at them and disallusioned You know, I'm not rich... I have two kids, a husband that just had back surgery 6 weeks ago and is out of work so money is really tight for us right now. I saved up a long time for those tickets. My Mac/Stevie thing is the only real extravagant (sp?) thing I do for myself. I would go and sit on the lawn if they were playing at Walnut Creek in Raleigh but this was a big deal in a city an hour away and and a night out for me and my husband with our favorite band so we really wanted good seats and splurged. Maybe I can find decent seats inCharlotte. Thanks for the encouragement Louie :) I feel like I know you.. I've been around as a lurker on these and other boards for many years and always enjoyed reading your posts and comments :xoxo:

Wendy I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'd thought of going to that show too and pulled 8th row last night (at around midnight) but didn't buy b/c I was still thinking about going to Charlotte too.

Maybe this will be a lesson for all the bands out there that they can't keep charging astronomical prices and expect to pack a house in the middle of a recession.

Thank you so muchDeeGeMe. Yeah, you'd think they would know better to schedule two shows so close together with the way things are now, especially with Greensboro being such a massive venue. If I dont pull up anything good for Charlotte I'm just going to stay home and watch my DVDs :)

Yeah, what's been said- to everyone who lost tickets, I'm so sorry- my condolences.

As enchanted said- the Mac is one of my last few extravagances in these 'hard times', so I'm hoping Tulsa doesn't get cancelled (not to mention my wife is actually excited about this one!).

The knowledgeable Luke- you know anything about Tulsa, May 3rd ticketng issues?

I haven't posted here in eons, but thought I'd give my 2cents on this.:wavey: I was going to attend this show since I live in Greensboro, have all my life. I had not gotten tix yet, so I'll be going to Charlotte, which IMO, is a better venue anyway. I'm not at all surprised though, that this show was cancelled. Greensboro has become much too... "urban", to draw a good crowd anymore for this kind of act. I could just about guarantee you that 80% of the tickets bought for this show were from out of towners, not from people that live here. But I'll be at the Charlotte show with bells on and it'll give me a chance to have dinner with my aunt who lives there, so it's all good. I just hate it for anyone who was going to this show but can't go to Charlotte.:(

LOL.

If you asked me a week ago, I honestly would have said definitely Orlando and probably Greensboro. But since Orlando didn't get axed today, its surely safe- especially if they're still running ads for it at the moment. I've still got a bad feeling about Omaha.

A few shows are doing so poorly that they probably should get canceled, although there's no chance they will- ex. Glendale & Tacoma (each for different reasons). Both are also surely impacted by how far away they are from Phoenix & Seattle (respectively). Most of Fleetwood Mac's core demographic in the Phoenix area lives in the east valley/Scottsdale, a good 45-50 miles from Glendale (boring-ass BFE- and that's even going by the super-low Phoenix standards). And, of course, they were greedy and booked the huge Tacoma Dome instead of the moderately sized Key Arena in downtown Seattle, banking on a sizable contingent from Portland making the Saturday night trip up (NO THANKS).

BUT, they'd never cancel Stevie's "hometown" show, and they're not going to cancel Vancouver's "buddy".

hugs to all of us who were looking forward to this.. i wondered when i saw the dates why they scheduled it like that.. i am from NC, it's not like the northeast, where you can drive 2 hours in any direction and see a show. there are just not enough people.. and in this economy it is such poor judgement to be charging $150 for tix and then allowing soooooooooo many to be held back for VIP/scalper/whatever you want to call it at double and quadruple that. i've bought scalp seats before, but this tour is crazy  i still have my first Stevie Wild Heart ticket @ $7.50!
whatever... i am just ranting now... but it does piss me off..

i was rationalizing the 5 hour drive solo from VA for 2 shows, now i am down to the one i don't even have a ticket for, Charlotte :( I'm thinking I might have to add Atlanta to the ticket search mania to make it worth the trip :]
What say you Swami Luke? is Atlanta live? anyone here going there? there seems to be more tix for that... maybe 'cause it's a Tuesday...

Don't stay home Wendy! I know you are dissapointed, I would be too.. actually I cried a little :xoxo: But you don't have to be close enough for Lindsey to spit on you to have fun! :blob1::blob2::blob1:

Fleetwood Mac Cancels Greensboro Concert
Staff Writer http://www.myfox8.com/wghp-fleetwood-mac-cancels-gso-090417,0,6947958.story

April 17, 2009

GREENSBORO N.C. - Fleetwood Mac has canceled their scheduled April 26 concert at the Greensboro Coliseum.

A coliseum spokesman said refunds for tickets bought online and by phone will be refunded beginning Monday.

Tickets bought at the coliseum box office or at other venues can be refunded starting Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m.

A spokesman for the group cited a scheduling conflict as a reason for canceling the gig.

The group's concert at Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena for Saturday, April 25 will go on as scheduled.

You're priceless.

That "conflict" statement is more insulting to their fans than the truth is. I wouldn't use that as an excuse, after people got their hopes up, made plans to go, saved money. To be told a scheduling conflict got in the way is a slap in the face. I'd rather hear that they couldn't afford to do it, even though they wanted to.

I think it would have worked better had they scheduled 1 concert in South Carolina (N. Charleston or Columbia) and 1 in NC---they would have been able to pull a bit more diverse audience (geographically) than having 2 scheduled in NC on the same leg of a tour. So whoever was doing the booking for this tour didnt' make the best choices.

I think Greensboro just took the bullett for Omaha. I am sorry for the fans who had tickets and now have to go to another show or lose out. I am also very surprised that this was cancelled so close to the show date. Omaha and KC are in a similar position with back-to back shows within 3 hrs driving distance though and I was told weeks ago Omaha was going to be cancelled and then it wasn't.

I am supposed to go to Omaha so I hope it still happens.

I'm right there with ya.. I've been so down in the dumps since Friday. Nothing is coming up on ticketmaster except sections 116 and 117 and I've been checking all day today and yesterday. I've even been checking out the broker sites and they dont have that many floor seats. There's a few but they want $500-$600 each. So, Im starting to wonder if any good floor seats are going to drop for Charlotte at all? I guess we can keep our fingers crossed and keep trying.

What really makes me upset is the fact that we could have purchased packages through All Access or looked for tickets elsewhere, if we had known sooner! They had to know this was coming much sooner than a week before. Now, the fans are paying the price. Many of us may not get to see them at all. I just can't believe this. It was so emotional pulling those front row seats and celebrate my victory over the scalpers. Then be let down so hard the next day. Knowing they had already probably decided to cancel way before I bought those seats and shelled out my $380. I haven't missed a tour in a while either. I haven't posted in a long time either. I had Row 7 Center Section, which my dad and husband bought for me for my birthday. I tried Charlotte not 15 min ago and pulled up a row 10, but I didn't know if my dad had gotten his refund yet. By the time I called him and went back on, it now says

Tickets are currently not available online for one of the following reasons. Please check back for availability.

I just want to scream!!! Surely it is some kind of glitch.. I will try back later.
I hope you already got tix CryLove! I live in Greensboro too, let's get together sometime and have a Mac party!

I've already got 6th row center but I just tried again and got Floor 2 row I. I almost bought them cause it looked like a 1 and I thought I had front row. Luckily I got myself together and figured it out before I bought a second set of tickets. Did you get Floor 2 row A Dreams? Thats awesome!!!

9th row center is still really good. Much better than those crappy section 117 seats that kept coming up for the past 2 weeks. My husband and I are going to try at the box office Saturday morning when we get into Charlotte and see if we can get a little closer if they'll let us upgrade. If not, I'm perfectly happy with my current seats. Should be a blast!! Maybe we could get a group of Ledgies together for drinks before or after? I'm so excited:blob2::blob2:

The show was "scheduled" to be profitable, and when it wasn't, it created a conflict ;)

hahahaha... I was thinking the same thing...

Let me try Michele... (I'm well versed in FMACSPEAK)

This whole cancellation was an organic process of 4 people coming together with large individual fees, and we're here to show that..... we just refuse to play unless it's covered!!! (crowd cheers!!!!!!)

Keep calling Sticketbastard while you're driving to Charlotte. If anything pops up before you arrive, you can buy them over the phone and do will-call pickup at the box office. :)

Will do.Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll let us exchange over the phone. Thanks Livia :wavey: Either way I'm stoked to even be going after the Greensboro fiasco!!
Now trying to decide if I want to bring my purse in so I can smuggle in the digital camera. Been practicing that sports mode with no flash at home with my kids and I think I've got the hang of it now.

Yep, that's how I've done it in the past.

i just got an email today from ticketbastard letting me know that greensboro was cancelled (3 days after it was) and letting me know that that they will be issuing a refund for my 7th row ticket but keeping $3.90 processing fee. WTF? you think they sold 5000 tix to that venue? that would be less than 1/4 capacity. if so, that's almost $20,000 they made on a non-show

Well, even if the entire $3.90 isn't a "hard cost", labor was still expended for Ticketmaster's setup/management for this show. While I can understand why the consumer might be upset about it, I can understand Ticketmaster's side of it too.

Between non-refundable production-related fees and advertising costs, Live Nation probably lost upwards of $80-$90K as a result of this non-show. They would owe more- to FM- if they didn't already have the big "global" deal they've agreed to.

the $3.90 is no big deal, i'm way more upset about the cancellation (getting over it). but there is a principle involved here. people who spend money to support this band deserve consideration IMHO. i understand that there were expenses and i don't mean to be dumb but why would Live Nation owe FM money? i mean who called it off anyway? does the band get paid even if they don't play? if so, then why didn't they? they are already there in NC and people, their fans who buy their beach houses and fancy cars have spend hard earned money in a recession to see them for a couple hours. i just don't get it. is it really all about egos? and if they don't get paid if they don't play, and everyone loses money, then again, WHY didn't they play the freakin' show?

This question as to who makes the decision reminds me of an email exchange I had with I Love All Access. I asked them if I could just get my ticket a few minutes before the show, without having to get there 2 hours ahead of time and going through their little fan entertainment games. They wrote back:

If you want to go to the trouble and expense of purchasing a package, then foregoing the amenities, you are certainly welcome to do so. Once you pick up your ticket package from the host, you can ask her the best way to get to your seat and go at your leisure.

Thank you for contacting us.

I told them that their "amenities" were a laugh and they couldn't prize them very highly, since they are the ones who canceled the pre-show party they originally offered fans.

They wrote back:
Alas, the cancellation of your party was not an ILAA decision. It was a tour decision. Certainly, if you want to forego the amenities, as long as Cory knows that you are doing this, you can pick up your package from her and then go to your seat.

Keep us posted, please.

I didn't know what they meant regarding "tour decision." It seems that FM is not involved in any of the pre-show gatherings so I don't know why they would be the ones to cancel.

Sucks that this show (or any show really) was cancelled, I feel bad for those who had tix to this show, esp. if it's the only one they were going to. :(
