Larry is a friend of mine and a big Stevie fan...as is Brad Loekle, who is often on the show. I was supposed to be on his show last year, but scheduling conflicts didn't allow it. luckily, Larry's interviews are amazing so I can't wait to hear it.

I know... But at least she still has goals! Some motivation to do something different... At times you'd think she didn't.
I'd like to see what she does for the future solo shows like she was talking about doing some of the obscure stuff she's never done live - not necessarily just the singles or hits.

Her or Liz Rosenberg - who apparently was hoovering around.... Larry and his one or two cohorts on the radio this morning were talking about the lead up to getting into the interview - and when Larry went in - his friends waited outside or something like that - and Liz just came out and said "you'll have to leave now". When Larry left, he was expecting his friends outside - and they were gone, he felt abandoned... Liz apparently came in part way through the interview and asked them if they wanted coffee... she was sending someone for coffee. So she was around for the interview - might be her.

Me too.
I also think she has a very strong sense of responsibility to her players and people. I do not think many people realize she is directly responsible for the employment of like 25 people and indirectly likely 100 more. That is a heavy weight to carry and then just say no more touring, I'm taking three years off to write a book, but you all need to wait for me, etc. I think that is why she incorporated as many of her people as she could in FM tours.

I cry foul. She shouldn't feel responsible for her band. They can go and get gigs without her. What ever happened to living for yourself? If she wants to write a book or produce a movie, then she should do it. I think it's past due for her to venture out from the stage into other facets. For me, I'm most interested in a poem book from her. That would be fantastic. Actually, I wouldn't think that would be difficult to do while on the road. but I don't know.

...still talking about her delusional world she created for Vegas.
 Exactly, what I was thinking.
Thank you MacMan so much for posting this :xoxo:
My random thoughts as I listen:
1. She sounds extremely tired, yet talkative.
2. She worked for 2 months on Crash
3. The deafening silence when he asked her why she's never performed Wild Heart before and then she says "I don't know?" I was pulling my hair out yelling at her screaming "Bella Donna", Gold & Braid", "Nightbird", "I Can't Wait" & "Talk to Me", just to name a couple from the top of my head.
4. I think Stevie is soooo delusional because nobody around her would ever disagree with her. "Waddy, that was THE BEST vocal of Still of the Night we have EVER done, yes, yes it was!
5. Unleash the fury of Fleetwood Mac? What a f*cking joke.
6. Didn't Lindsey write two albums while on the road touring with FM and still put on a amazing performance the next nite
7. What is it with her and Vanessa Carleton and Michelle Branch? I mean, they're ok but they certainly haven't been very successful in the music industry
8. GDW on Soundstage is good but an acid trip? She seriously needs a "real" stage production manager. 8 weeks on GDW? Is she serious?
9. There are so many great songs that didn't make it :distress: She couldn't think of one. I'm sure her mind just went blank.
10. Fall From Grace: Lindsey. Wow. I just read the lyrics. That just shines a whole new light on it. I think that song would have been much more effective as a slow, sad ballad, rather then fast and angry.
11. Bad mood that day. Bad mood on stage that nite.
12. Floor length grey hair. Yuk.
13. I do agree that she would have definately still been a big star without FM.
Don't shoot me. Just silly **** going through my head as I listen

I am not a huge fan of the song, but the vocal is good. My fav. likely is the Vegas one from like the second night of the first set of the 05 tours. She SCREAMED - GO ON GET OUT! in a way that was a little rabid, or at least it seemed at the time.

Whaaaaa?
The best HSML's were on the Rock a Little Tour....so raw. so emotional. so off the wall.
I agree with T and what she is trying to say, I think. Practicing too much for perfection makes the song robotic and uninspired, in the end. Where is the random, spontaneous Stevie? She practices too much. Even her adlibs are rehearsed to death. She needs to let loose and let the music and the place take her to somewhere different each night. I'm not asking for 70s Rhiannon yell. I'm just asking for uninhibited Stevie.

Sometimes, all you have to do is pay attention...
Interview with Jim Ladd - March 21, 2005
"Fall From Grace was a formal full-on poem...you know 'maybe I worked this hard just to make sure you survive'...this was something.. and it doesn't really matter, of course, I wrote that poem about Lindsey and Lindsey knows that and he doesn't care. He loves being inspirational and he is and I am to him. So we laugh about that. So I write these really really heavy poems. I think I wrote most of that when we were out on the road on The Dance."

Yea, she couldn't remember the name for it, but she was talking about doing an EP. I think at this point in her career, that would be her best option. It would sell well, and wouldn't take too long to make. Maybe she'll turn the "Rhiannon Album" into an EP. It would be more appealing to more casual fans that way, and it would do really well.

I have to say that I love the Soundstage Sessions performance too. There's an interesting contrast between the two, as they capture the woman at different times of her life.
During the 'Rock A Little' era, she was adrift... searching. Her life was no longer her own, and that was affecting everything, including her romantic relationships. You can certainly hear it in her voice -- she's lonely, fragile and barely holding it together, yet there's a note of defiance there.
These days, she seems to come at the song from a different angle -- with reflection and resignation about her past, but retaining that steely determination. She's no longer a thirty-something woman, but she's not ready to throw in the towel yet either. She's still a hot mama, she's stronger now, and love might still be out there.
Anyway, that's just my goofy interpretation of the two performances. :o

Thank you MacMan! This was a terrific interview--Stevie really does sound 'confident' again. This little Fleetwood Mac "break" has been a very busy time for Stevie. The rest of the band is probably back with their families, chilling out. "What's really going to bother me is when nobody asks for my autograph." I don't think that's ever going to happen to Stevie. :)
I really appreciate getting to hear this! Thanks again!

Yep. Saying it and doing it are two VERY different things
so very, very true. BUT maybe if she says it enough times, she'll eventually do it. At least some sort of seed has been planted in her head, I hope!! I'd be thrilled if she did just one of the songs she mentioned. It sounds like she wants to recreate the "acoustic set" from The Enchanted Tour.

4. I think Stevie is soooo delusional because nobody around her would ever disagree with her. "Waddy, that was THE BEST vocal of Still of the Night we have EVER done, yes, yes it was!
Get outta my head! My initial reaction to this was wha' the... eff ? For the longest time I have been wondering whether Stevie has acknowledged/accepted that her voice is, um, different from what it used to be, or whether she sings in her current style on purpose. Perhaps she likes it better when her voice is projecting in that gutteral "honk" style, rather than the wispy/seductive chest voice she used on the original HSML. In recent years, especially after quitting smoking, I have heard her mention in interviews that her voice is "stronger" or more "powerful" than ever, so perhaps she equates power=good vocals. Or perhaps that's what the singing coach has told her . I wonder if, on command, she can just snap right back into singing in that Bella Donna style...

Wow that was an awseome interview. Stevie seems unaware that this internet she hates so much has documented every single set to every single show she's ever done and she has not once removed Dreams from her set list.
I got so excited over her mentioning doing Kind of Woman AND Sable on Blonde in one sentence.
She has every reason to be proud of her Soundstage performances and I kind of agree about that How Still My Love being her best vocal ever on HSML. Its way better then the studio version and live Bella Donna Versions. Rock a Little and WH tour versions aren't really comparable for me, its like apples and oranges. But I do think that there are one or two better How Still My Loves from 2007, one of them being the version from Youngston Ohio July 3, 2007 that I think one of our legies actually captured. I would take that version to soundstage.
Funniest part of the interview was: "Does anyone Want My Autograph"
Lowpoint of the interview naturally: "That was my word you know"

This was an audio only interview correct? What's up with the songs playing over the interview? Who the hell produced this??? Great interview otherwise. Although the interviewer sounds a little creepy.

The HSML vocal may have been better technically, but the overall performance and mood of the song and the ending adlibs were better in Vegas. Also, Sorcerer was such a stand out in Vegas and really didn't shine on Soundstage. It wasn't bad, but was far from exceptional.

This was an audio only interview... .I know, when I was recording it... and the music started to drown out Stevie I thought I did something... but nope, it's from the interview. I have a feeling what they were doing was playing back the recorded interview over the air from the previous week, and while it was playing in the studio, Larry Flick and his side kick were overlaying the music - to no great effect... It was too loud, and the wrong tunes at the wrong time.
They guy used to work for Billboard Mag apparently... He's interviewed or wrote about Stevie before...

Did Stevie really say she wanted to do Kind of Woman, Sable on Blond and Wild Heart??
She sang the Wild in the darkest places in your mind part of WH but flubbed it a little cause she never sings that damn song. Grrr... She talked about how complex the song would be to recreate on stage and then she swithced gears and said she would do Kind of Woman and Sable on Blond.

True. When I first heard Crash was in her Soundstage setlist, I wondered how the hell she was going to pull that off. If she can do that, she can do Wild Heart. Maybe she could do a lovely acapella version with the girls like that one she did with Lori at the Bella Donna Rolling Stone cover shoot.

I think that's a great idea. That would be really nice. That could work. I've always loved her ballad's and slower renditions of song's more any way.

I FREAKIN' love this interview! It may be my favorite one ever...if even an eighth of the things she says come to pass I will be over the moon...if the day comes to pass that I walk into a show and she does Wildheart I will probably pass out...Goldfish and ladybug...the Rhiannon movie....She's cracking me up here...
and...uh...they don't unleash on each other anymore! Well, i am thinkin' the wife is glad to hear that!!
I love the fact that the interviewer obviously is a fan and/or did his homework...so rare!!!

See, this interview is making me sad. She has so many ideas and "goals" that will never occur because all she is doing is touring. I now wish she would quit touring for all these other things.
She's been talking about some of these things for more than twenty-years. I don't think her recent rash of touring is the issue.

I'd take the other epic, Bella Donna, over Wild Heart. Could you imagine how great it would be to have the opening chords start to play at the beginning of the concert?!?!!? I think the crowd would go nuts. It's a song that could be cut down for the stage and still be amazing....

goldfish and the ladybug? Please. That is the biggest turd in her demo vault ever recorded. There is a reason that is on some 30 year old cassette and has stayed there all these years. Just my two cents though.

This thought just occured to me. If we take everything Stevie says in this interview literally (which we all know we can't) but if we do, she's basically sayign that she played the same danmed songs for three years playign everywhere. And now in the future she wants to do all her forgotten never played gems (Kind of Woman, Sable on Blonde) but only for a select few cities because she doesn't want to tour extensively. So to hear these rare songs we have to rely on YouTube or fly many miles to the nearest city shes deciding to play.

Well, if she did really play a set list of rare gems, it would be worthwhile to fly across the country to see them. But what will probably happen is she will continue to tour all over with the same setlist. She kept doing those songs because she wanted them perfect for the DVD, but now that the DVD is so perfect, she'll keep doing them because she wants to honor that DVD's memory! Anyway, I think she'll manage to hit all the stops. Maybe she won't do it in one long tour any more. Maybe she'll break the regions up in two annual tours or something, but I think she'll still hit most of her old places (but not the same venues in those cities) eventually.

Why couldn't Rhiannon be an opera? It could be one of those through-composed things that have been the rage for years. But they'd need to find a composer.

Other than Waddy & Karen, you are the people in Stevie's inner circle that would have some opinion or say or advice in what Stevie should be doing with the rest of her career? Those two have been with her for over 30-35 years. It seems Waddy's & Karen's head are so far up Stevie's ass and would never say anything to disagree with her or three of them all just think a like because they have been together so long. Stevie needs some new people in her life (that aren't old school), that have fresh and new idea's.
