Ok, since Spark's back & posting cool stuff, can we have a Poll of Stevie Fans Past & Present?
Has she still got it or not?

All in relative fun, of course.

stevie's had some bright spots in the last 25 years, but i think even the WH tour was past her prime.

Stevie's peak was 1981-1983 since then she's had some ups and downs. For me the quintessential Stevie will always be the "Bella Donna"/"Wild Heart" era Stevie. If given a choice of seeing her on tour today or going back in time, I'd go back in time. Nonetheless I'm still going on the 14th for the ninth time since 1986.

When was the last time you saw Stevie solo, David? I know you (quite rightly imo) hold The Wild Heart shows in high regard but I can't recall you mentioning seeing her without the Mac after that.

I picked she went out of style with the Enchanted tour. I give her props for striking while the iron was hot with that box set, riding the huge momentum of the Dance. The Dance totally changed public perception of her... for the first time in a decade plus, it was cool to say you liked Stevie again. She just hasn't followed up as smoothly since. She's had far too big of gaps between releasing new material (only 1 new solo and 1 new Mac record in 10 years), odd touring schedules (TISL was abridged and helter skelter, the weird Gold Dust and Tom Petty surprise tours, her beginning to do Vegas, cover songs, etc).

I think she was at her finest during the Bella Donna tour. More recently, I think The Enchanted Tour was superb and she has not come close to that since. I WISH a show from that tour was filmed and released. It would have made perfect marketing sense since interest in her was surging in '98 due to The Dance tour a year earlier and her confidence was through the roof. It would have been perfect, combined with the fact that we'll never see a set list like that ever again. Even her costumes were fabulous!! Soundstage is all well and good but I think it's a little too little, little too late (to quote Pat Benatar). I adore Stevie and always will but I think to wait until now to film a solo show was not the best decision.

I saw her at Irvine Meadows, but I walked out early. Then I went to Universal Amphitheatre & stayed for the whole show. It's a nice indoor theater with very comfortable seating.

Ya know its funny you mention Stevie's 2001 tour because I was at opening night in Pittsburgh (well burgettstown but close enough) and she was amazing. I came across some videos of that show earlier tonight on you tube and Stevie had alot of energy during it. Good times for sure!

That was a great show. I was there as well. It was a nice long setlist and unlike many, I did not mind that Sheryl was there along for the ride. Stevie seemed fresh, happy, and in the moment. My, how things have changed since then. Touring off a new solo album after 8 years must have felt nice. Especially being able to perform 6 new songs at the time (Planets, Sorcerer, Every Day, Bombay Sapphires, FFG, & TFFT). No wonder she was fresh and happy. Stevie might want to consider that if she finds herself bored and disconnected from her music nowadays. You know, maybe forget about the fact that her albums will no longer go platinum and instead focus on the art of just making new music. But I suppose it's easier for one to simply rest on their laurels. Making a new album is just too much work. Why bother making a new album anyway? It's not like there's any money in it for her. Besides, her fans are only going to steel the new stuff and share it with other fans on the internet. No no, it's much easier for her to continue recycling the same things over and over while only putting out 10% of the effort.

That show was so amazing and I know for me it was so great to hear all those new songs live. I so wish she would do more albums because i love, love, love her solo stuff. I remember when Trouble in Shangri-la came out I played that album over and over again for an entire year. I would make everybody I know listen to it as well. Cant Stevie just release some new songs at least on itunes? I would just love it if she threw us a new song every new and then if she doesnt want to record an entire album. I need something new.

I"m with ya here. We don't ask for much. I would totally happy with a new song or two every year. Of course I"d love a full album but anything new would be nice.

Um I was directing that at one person not the entire community here. Everything that op posts is negative.

I will?

I don't.

Why would someone post this?

I do not believe it at all.

Nor do I know why my name is on this thread.

David is fond of making references to me, it appears.

I don't know about Stevie, but for me, FM lost their coolness factor with the kiddie-sing-along at the end of Say You Will.

Probably Enchanted tour. It was just after The Dance and she was still able to sing her own songs without sounding too annoying.

I voted with "Still rocking".......but with reservations!
I do feel as if she's become somewhat predictable live.....sort of a "Greatest Hits" Vegas act. I want more surprises, more "WOW!!" moments.
Sadly, I have the same feeling about Fleetwood Mac....I doubt I'll see this tour, and they've been my favorite band for 33 years!
I don't believe in living in the past, buuuut......!!!!!

Still think she has it in her to surprise us, though!

EWWWW, I hate that part. Still doesn't match the beginning of "Everybody Finds Out" for awfulness though. That tinny effect put on Stevie's voice for the first verse? *hurl*

EWWWW, I hate that part. Still doesn't match the beginning of "Everybody Finds Out" for awfulness though. That tinny effect put on Stevie's voice for the first verse? *hurl*It's as if the engineers or the producers were deliberately trying to emphasize the nasality of her voice by electronically dropping the low end out.

I think it may have been an example of deliberate aesthetic decisionmaking, shoving something in our face as listeners, making us confront the singer's nasality openly, & perhaps by practically wallowing in it, transforming it for us.

For me, the mechanical sound works, goes along with the lyric, because it sounds like they're almost describing something clinical. Observing a patient in an operating room. You know how they have people who can watch the procedure behind a glass just outside of the operating room? That's what it reminds me of. "We see no change in sight, watching her decline." I think the sound effect on Stevie's voice goes with that mood.

Oh yeah, I'm not a fan of the kids at the end of SYW. Makes me nauseous. I used to think it was Lindsey changing his voice, but then it turned out to be real kids. Oh brother!

Something was gone after Enchanted...really the only exposure i have to that tour is the woodstock show, and it is totally great. she was still doing the ad-lid little screams and growls, and was just kind of wild. she seems so happy too. she was probably high. her voice doesnt really sound great, but either did it on the wh tour but everyone loves that-she doesnt sound like she is belting everything like she does now- i guess before she got her "vocal coach"? That was the last of "old" stevie i think. now, like others have said, its a more "vegas" greatest hits-type act, which i really think is unfortunate.
